The White Swan Stonehouse in Bromsgrove

We have used this establishment for our annual works Christmas meal for over 15 years, but never again!!! I pre-booked with them 3 weeks in advance advising that we would be a party of 20 for the carvery and asked them to reserve tables close to the carvery and on the same level as we are all seniors some were not steady on their feet. In previous years the team there had always been accommodating and helpful. As advised we arrived promptly at 12:00, only to find that no tables had been reserved and that our party could only be accommodated at tables up 3 small steps. Worse still when several of our party went to the carvery about 1 hour or so after arriving and asked for turkey they were told they had run out of turkey. How can a carvery run out of turkey at Christmas!? Needless to say we won’t be going back next year!

Only turkey and beef on the carvery because the gammon was still cooking. Turkey carcass was all but stripped of meat. There was a tiny amount of beef left. This was about 12.30 ..so can only assume it was yesterday's. Vegetable selection was poor. Cauliflower cheese had some sauce on it.. but absolutely no taste to it.

I got served by the lovely women called Katie and she was very friendly and polite.

Food was my issue from carvery /meats very good vegetables poor lack of selection and very baked and dry

Not impressed at all. I thought it had new management (no) I was told that it wasn't very good.

We visited a couple of weeks ago and, my bad, I completely forgot to leave a review... So.. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed as if we were regulars. I'd only been once previously with a friend, and decided to take my partner there as we'd been visiting family nearby. The manager was friendly and welcoming, we honestly felt like we were the only customers, lovely man. We decided on a carvery, which was absolutely delicious cannot fault it at all, the serving staff were polite and friendly too. If youre in the area I would definitely recommend this pub to go for a meal. There is a small area outside for children, (I would recommend that you check the gate leading out to the car park is shut as its easy to miss) When leaving don't do what I did and forget there's only one exit/entrance as reversing back into the space I came out of the wrong way was embarrassing 😅 All in all definitely worth a visit and its a large place so suitable for a family dinner. I will be visiting again 🙂

One of our party had a food allergy. Was dealt with extremely well to ensure no problems. Thank you to the manager for sorting everything out

I went for a meal on Monday with my son and I couldn’t have been happier with the quality of the food. Suzanne brought our food to the table and was so kind making sure we had everything we needed and checked on us during our meal.

I visited the white swan on Thursday, I had an amazing meal with my family. We were greeting by Suzanne she was so helpful and kind. We had carvery’s they were absolutely delicious, the chef Dom was really sweet and helped my mom with her plate to the table as she has trouble walking. They really went above and beyond for us.

Staff are lovely but Adam front of house made me feel the most welcome. Adam is an amazing manager but also an assets to the company. Adam was engaging in conversation with everyone when they walked through the door

Food is amazing! Especially the carvery, excellent portion size, hot when served, Adam the front of house lad is really good, would highly recommend visiting! My meal was really enjoyable

My family love coming here, especially my grandson who is obsessed with the ice cream machine, Matas is always there to welcome us and equally all of the staff are friendly and helpful. Food is always delicious and i always recommend to friends and family

Pre booked a table and the lack of food was astonishing. What bits that was left was barely edible. It was a birthday gathering too Waiting to get served was a joke as clearly understaffed and unorganised. We won't be going there again

the food was lovely and the service was as good as i could ask for. when i had a question to ask the manager gareth was brilliant.

Really poor quality food. Have been here for years and it's really gone down hill. Visited today meat was scarce and dry. All veg were dry under the lamps. Also ordered a burger and it was really poor quality meat so much so it wasn't eaten. Staff are lovely.

Bit of a low rating here. Had the pulled pork burger and the burger meat tasted awful. Had a couple of bites and reminded me of a 90s drunken burger van burger. Very low quality item. Quite a nasty experience. Roasts were great though, according to my friends. Atmosphere good including some bloke sleeping on his table. Good parking but remember to put your reg on the screen. See my other contributions for honest unbiased reviews. Edit, told waiter about poor quality burger but no feedback, apologies etc. toilets are “needing attention” with urine stained seats, no hand dryer or toilet roll.

A gem of a find! Our day had been somewhat trying, but the welcome and excellent service we had from the minute we arrived ended the day on a high. The carvery was perfect, the fresh vegetables were great, not a congealed mess in a pot, and a good selection too. As a chef on a previous life, I know it's not always easy to keep the meat options at their best under the hotlamps, but here it was perfect, our compliments to the chef. Many thanks to you all, and we look forward to visiting again when we are back next year.

As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a friendly welcome off Gareth, the beer and wine were spot on, the carvery was delicious, the veg was steaming hot and very fresh, the meat was falling apart tender, would we visit again?? hell yes, only wish we lived closer

Had a delivery this evening due to being unwell. Best carvery I’ve ever had from there. All fresh, hot and a good amount.

On my birthday booked 11 until 1230 slot as on the booking app . Place was empty . We payed the full price and they had no bacon or pizza or potato waffles as promised on menu . We had to wait for fried bread . Waitress was polite lady but when I made comment on lack of food the chef/ manager tried to blame us for being late and said carvery starts 12 and app should not of told us this . Well sorry that is not our fault . Very bad attitude from him . To top this we tried to fill up our unlimited coffee after just one cup and they had took it all away . Been here before for carvery and been ok but unorganised chaos in an empty pub which put dampner on my birthday. Thanks

Really disappointed on our latest visit, our meal was almost inedible, very hard veg, fatty beef, dry gammon, all of our party agreed too, My granddaughter had an icecrem which was also like slop, this place has gone down hill,

The food was excellent, very fresh and tasty. The staff are friendly, polite and efficient. Only three stars for atmosphere as there was a very noisy group in the pub. The language was a little bit rich for 7 pm ! Thanks for excellent service Finn, Danni and Lucy.

Thought it would be nice to try a new place for a sunday meal out with the Missus. What a shocking place to eat to make life easier. I'm just going to list the issues at this place below 1st, we booked a table online, so we walked through the door on time to a big sign. " Please wait here to be seated," so as you expect we stood and waited 5/8 mins now past group of staff by the bar have spotted us but not said nothing , no problem will just sit our self down so pointless booking a table 2nd, walk up to the bar to order some drinks , still group of staff stood around the bar on phones and having group chat to point where a member of staff actually had to he asked to serve me , so I asked for 1 Pepsi and 1 no alcohol beer not in stock no problem just another pespi then please , to then be charged and served for 3 So now iv had to sit myself and partner at a table not got the drink i want and messed the simple order up 3rd , ordered food too then be sat waiting for it up to 45mins but even tho we can see the order sat on the hot container waiting to be server but again all staff in group on the bar , so food arrived cold 4th, the roundyness of the bar area is way to much to be mix with a restaurant when there are family's with kids trying to enjoy a Sunday lunch that is extremely hard when the music is blasting you in the ears Over all just got the impression no one gave a shit , shocking don't bother wasting ya money

Me and my family was there today and was served by a lovely person called Adam he was so helpful and could not do enough for us. The food was excellent and good value we can not wait to come back.

Very tired looking pub Carvery was not brilliant dry and lifeless Staff were OK

Not been here for a long while, but we had a lovely experience when we went for Sunday lunch. There was 6 of us, and 2 kids. It was busy, but they found a table and we got served fairly quickly with food and drinks. Queued a short time at the carvery station. Plates and food were hot, and I had nice slices of beef and turkey with yorkshires and roasties. Good selection of veggies and loads of gravy. We all had a good meal. Couple of us had desserts. I had a caramel sundae which was delicious. Kids loved the ice-cream station. Would recommend and definitely go back again.

Amazing carvery and attentive team, Gareth is doing an amazing job. Highly recommended visit.

Shocking food staff not helpful. Will never come here again. And if someone says they are going there for food I will tell them not to bother.

Wow absolutely shocking food some was uneatable !! Got to the pub for a carvery at 16.45 thought it would be nice to get in for a early carvery should be fresh !! Paid just under 30 quid for a glass of wine a coke and 2 carvery quid expensive for mid week but ok if it's decent . I am far from fussy but it was obvious the food had been standing a while the meat was ok but a little dry the Yorkshire pudding were hard and dry the roast potatoes were shocking so hard you couldn't eat them and the stuffing was dry as a bone and solid veg was very average even the gravy had a thick skin on it . Really shouldn't have bothered and when I told the waitress it was awful and uneatable she just said sorry she spoke to the manager but he didn't say anything. By then I had had enough and just wanted to get out ! Poor food and atmosphere and quiet simple would never go back !!

Website states it opens at 11.30. You turn up to be told they open at 12.00.

My friend and I visited the white swan for a carvery today and was absolutely appalled with the meal. The beef and turkey were dried up and the veg was warm and sloppy. The roasters were so hard I couldn't cut them and couldn't even insert a fork into them. The gravy had a thick skin on the top and was luke warm, as was everything we had. We told the server how bad the meal was and she said,"oh.sorry". I saw her speaking to another member of staff but nothing was said to us. There was young boys racing around the bar area squirting people with a water gun and they were also using bad language and were not reproached by any staff. I felt quite intimated by their parents as they appeared very belligerent. We left soon after and will never return and recommend the establishment be avoided.

food was hard and stale, gammon was way to salty. the atmosphere was atrocious with fighting and screaming and they are severely understaffed. and today was music that was way to loud for anyone to be able to talk and to much going on to eat

Just had a lovely Meal, throughly enjoyed every bit. Service is Excellent, Darren and all Staff are very friendly and Pleasent, would definitely recommend it, play area for children. this is our Second visit! 😚

Very good service from the manager (can’t remember his name but working the shift at 8pm). Very clean toilets very clean around the pub, loved that there was a small park at side of building, very good atmosphere, and beautiful decor inside. Would definitely recommend to friends or family and will definitely be returning with my son.

In the last couple of years since I last came this place has I believe had a change l of management , for the good Food wssvlively & plenty of it 1small criticism , the roasties seemed undercooked Generally tho excellent

The food is really nice and the staff are so friendly and helpful. We went twice in June for a family meal and someone in our party is really picky with food but even he enjoyed it. No think ever seems to much trouble. Will 100% be back soon.

The staff so friendly, the food (carvery) amazing and the drinks so cold and fresh.

Went last week for a carvery they had turkey and gammon on I had the turkey with veg which was nice they have a wide range of drinks and the staff are really friendly there is a young man who works on bar called Aaron he hasn't been there long but knows what he is doing the rest of the staff nikitta, dom, Sam and Suzanne are really nice too. The atmosphere is really good I would be going back again.

Food and service awful ,carvery consisted of one large turkey which looked like it had been left out from Sunday no veg available. Despite no other customers being there had to ask three times for our sweets

Not been in a while so not sure what to expect. Food was very good. Staff were great. All in all, a pleasant visit.

Tables not cleaned, food was disgusting, I have to be honest this is probably the worst meal I have paid for in a restaurant. You expect a carvery to be best on Sunday, but the veg was liquid and tasted of nothing. The mash potato should have come with straw. Used to know I'd get a half decent meal here, but this is honestly the worst meal I've ever paid for

I have been coming here once a week, For the past few months and can say I love it. The food and service have been consistently great. The pizza is AMAZING! I have the carvery most weeks and again found it to be great. Tables are always clear and clean. Staff are chatty and polite.

Expect quieter on Monday evening, but not to the detriment of food being served; extremely dry remnants of turkey and barely cooked beef, paid for pigs in blankets (extra), clearly microwaved and bought out as individual portions. Poor selection of dried out vegetables, even the gravy was barely luke warm! Never again!!

Dropped in with my partner to have a drink and their Traditional Carvery. The food was great the staff came across friendly and helpful. It was well worth stopping.

Friendly staff, wide range of clientele, children welcome. Nice carvery, usually has pizza and salad but not today. Sadly I'm having to amend my review. We've had no complaints and enjoyed ample carvery and good food, that is until our visit in March 2024. I was rudly informed by the chef that I could select one meat choice not the usual 3-4 choices. We've always eaten a sample of all meat on offer, that's part of the enjoyment. I was told I was mistaken about having multi selection. He wasn't budging and this became an expensive "roast dinner". We've taken our custom to cotteridge village Inn, where we can have just one meat, two meats or heaven forbid, 3 meat choices.

What a breath of fresh air Fin the barman is. Very pleasant, upbeat and friendly. Not the first time I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Fin in the white swan and always get his great attitude to all customers he serves. Keep up the good work Fin.

We booked the White Swan in Wythall.for a funeral wake for approx 20 people. We had the buffet menu. The food was good value, very nicely prepared and something for everyone. The staff were attentive and thoughtful. The booking process was easy and they spent some time discussing our requirments and looking after us on the day.

Very disappointed! Full of drunks when you walk in by the door that you have to get past to reach the restaurant area and everytime you go to the toilets or to exit. There must be a new cheif as the carvery has definitely gone downhill. The old food was tipped on top of the new right in front of us. No one was clearing or cleaning the tables, we had to ask for a table to be cleared and cleaned. The carpets definitely need a thorough deep clean. It used to be nice but never again. This was this venues second chance after one of our party almost choked on a bone in a chicken burger last time but we went for a carvery this time, no thank you, we won't be back!

Staff were lovely unfortunately no fish available and carvery was going to be ready in about half an hour so the 3 of us had scampi which was superb although we will bring our own tartare sauce next time as staff said you have stopped it. My side salad was lovely and fresh and the drinks were good thank you

Visited today for a carvery, there were some bad reviews a while back but I can truly say the food was amazing, beef was so tender, good selection of vegetables, loved the cheesy mash & crispy roasties, the whole meal was first class so well done, all the staff had a smile & were friendly & efficient cannot fault it & highly recommend thank you ,

The worst place I’ve ever been come in as a family for a birthday the pub was empty sat down to order everyone one except 4 of us got their food it took over and hour and even then they had the cheek to ask if we wanted our food when we did receive it the chips were black and cold and the burgers where soggy despite no sauce as well as not even being fully cooked and grey it was sickening aswell as paying £30 for this
