The Queens Head in Bromsgrove

Lovely pub, steak was great, chips not cooked enough, pale and soggy. No attempt at making the rind on my wife's pork chop crispy but the meat was delicious. Salmon and Prawn starters excellent. No room for pudding! Server, can't remember his name sorry, tall lad in shorts, was attentive yet not over intrusive. Just the right level of casual. Bar staff were great, especially Buffy. Cheers!

Excellent food,wonderful service and atmosphere!

A massive special mention to Ryan, the manager. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left absolutely nothing was too much trouble. Ryan’s professionalism, courtesy and friendliness made such an impression on us that we would go as far as to say he provided us with one of the next experiences we’ve ever had. The food was impeccable, perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked and perfectly presented. 3 courses later and we are stuffed but very content. We are definitely coming back again (very soon!) l, not just so that we can experience this amazing place but also make up for a mistake on our part: the tip we left was (accidentally) nowhere near enough and not what we intended to pay. When we return, the tip we will leave will more than reflect our humblest of apologies to Ryan, the chefs and other serving staff who looked after us so wonderfully. 10/10 for the staff, the quality of service and the quality of the food!

Lovely venue next to the canal and the whole place feels upbeat and exciting

Excellent friendly staff, food was of a high standard, sitting outside by the canal is very pleasant on a warm afternoon, we have booked the Tepee out for a family do so I will have to update this review after as well.

Food amazing, we had the vegetarian roast dinner, had to wait about 5 minutes for the vegetables but we loved it

Went for lunch, we'd booked a table for 12.15 Saturday. At that point it was fairly quiet, not long after it got really busy.. There were loads of staff about so you didn't have to wait to be served or for your meals to arrive. Food was lovely. Because it was very busy it got a little loud so sometimes struggled to hear acorss the table. That said it wouldn't put us off going again.

I visited this pub yesterday and was disappointed to see how scruffy it was since I was there 2 years ago. The menu was very uninspiring so we chose not to stay. It’s such a nice setting, and clearly a popular choice by many but it’s in dire need of cleaning up, so will no longer be my first choice to eat sadly.

It was very expensive for the style of food, but the quality is fine. Service is very friendly and helpful. Catered for a party of 10 with children, so that was done really well. Staff engaged with the children, and nothing was too much trouble. Very nice pub. Great range of drinks

First time here and our table was in the marquee area. It was a lovely atmosphere almost like sitting outside with the artificial grass carpet and hanging foliage. The seats had cushions and faux fur throws and fan heaters situated around the area provided heat. Great choice of food on menu and service was just the right amount of attention. Would definitely recommend a visit.

I really enjoyed the kidney starter. It was like a steak and kidney pie but without the pastry. I really enjoyed the frangelico coffee. It tasted hot and cold. The cookie dough ice cream was nice. Service was friendly.

This was our first visit as we met up with friends in the area. It was their recommendation and so we looked forward to it with excitement. We were not disappointed! There was an extensive menu and all the meals were lovely. The lamb was beautifully cooked and the large pizza and equally large fish and chips were delicious. The restaurant was full on a Friday lunch time so the atmosphere was great.

One of the best in area. Very clean and professional. Menu was not too exciting but done to very high standards. Drinks prices fair. Will come back soon.

Lovely friendly welcome, excellent service, and tasty food: just what we were looking for. We highly recommend this place.

Visited on a mid-week early evening. It was busy. Food was OK - we had an assortment of pizza and duck salads which seem to be a firm favourite. Service was prompt except when it comes to paying the bill where you always have to chase them. If you’re forced to park in the lower car park it’s not suitable for wheelchair users either. The top car park is suitable although small.

This was a great place to eat. Not quite sure if it is more a restaurant than a pub but very nice. Food was lovely and the styling has a hint of ski chalet about it. It is next to a canal so ask for a canal side table. Looks like it has a good sized function room. Easy access. We'll worth a visit. Staff were super friendly too.

Great food, great service, great atmosphere

Just popped in for a few beers. Great friendly bar staff. I’ve drank and are here a few times and food is always very good. The location is perfect as I cycle this canal a lot and,of course, it has a lovely view.

We were a table of 6 on a very busy Friday evening. Though from the quality and attentiveness of the service and the speed with which food and drinks arrived you wouldn’t have known it was busy. Just fantastic - great ambience,gorgeous food ( in particular the tomato and red pepper soup which was absolutely sensational!) and great staff. For the experience to be as good as it was on such a busy night speaks volumes for the management culture and the quality of the staff. Love the place - we will definitely be back. Often!

Had a very pleasant evening meal at the Queen’s Head. The food was delicious and good value (2 for 1 pizzas!) but the evening was made particularly enjoyable by the service we received- staff were warm, attentive and accommodating to our needs. I’d certainly go back.

Had a turkey and cranberry baguette. When the waiter with the hipster beard asked me genuinely if everything was OK with my food, I expressed disappointment that the turkey was the thinly sliced reconstituted (supermarket)type he immediately suggested that they would replace this and I opted for the beef with real meat. Plus he put the reminder of the original baguette in a doggy bag! Fab waitering!

Beautiful decorated pub /restaurant, definitely would give a five star rating for pub and atmosphere. Food I would give a three star ,small potions and not a lot of choice on menu .

Popped in Monday and was seated straight away with a beautiful view of the canal. Lovely warm atmosphere with the fire lit and very friendly staff. Delicious food! We had crispy duck salad, fish and chips and Malaysian Laska, then cheesecake for dessert ! We will definitely be returning very soon and even bought gift vouchers for Mothers Day presents (shhhh!) See you again soon.

Great food, great service, great atmosphere. A little more expensive than your average pub grub but you're getting a little bit more for your money. Good produce and well cooked meat. Plenty of enticing options on the menu. The decor and interior of the pub is modern yet warm. It was busy on my visit without being overbearing. Booking recommended! The staff at the bar and waiting tables were welcoming and efficient. The food was of good quality and plenty of drinks options. Ideal for special occasions, dates and just drinks.

The service is great the food isn't. We went to the Queens for a Sunday lunch today. 2 had the beef, 1 the chicken & 1 vegetarian. The serving staff were quick & efficient in taking our order for a drink, delivering the drink and then taking our food order. That's where the good became the sub standard. The food arrived after a wait but it was luke-warm, the swede mash was not nice, the rosemary covered roast potato's hard and bland. It's a busy pub but food needs to be delivered hot to the table. Very disappointing. Will not be returning for Sunday lunch again.

Love it! Since the relaunch this place is unbeatable. Gets very busy, so be sure to book. Canal side drink on a sunny day - perfect.

Out for a walk along the canal we decided to call in for a drink, but ended up staying for lunch! During our time in the pub we were served by four different members of staff and every single one was not only friendly & personable, they were all extremely efficient and customer focused. What a pleasant change to get good customer service from people who actually seem to enjoy their job! The food was as good as the service and the atmosphere and surroundings were really top notch too. We hadn't visited this pub in years, but will definitely be back soon and will definitely be recommending it to friends.

Another great friendly pub. Dog friendly too . Good beer , cribbage , company and craic . Early on quiet , latter not so . Some great characters here . A cool Goth .. she is Ace … All in all an excellent place to start your tour of local pubs

First time going to Queens Head and glad we came. Following a success, we held a celebration here and I’m glad to report that we had a brilliant time. There is a massive car park and a wonderful canal that can be seen from the inside and outside seating area. Would recommend. Good job The Queens Head Team!

Fantastic meal and service. Lovely warm welcome from staff. Seated at our table straight away. Our waitress (sorry I didn’t get her name) was so diligent, we were a table of 8 and everything ran so smoothly. Our order for food was taken promptly and our drinks arrived super quick. The food was delicious. All round fabulous service and a great evening, would very much recommend and look forward to returning again soon.

I visited this place with my parents for a meal and it was lovely. We arrived at Lock Cottage and decided to go to the pub for dinner and there was 25% off on Mondays, which was a bonus. The food was lovely, the waitress was really nice and the place had a great atmosphere. There was a free car park and it was beside the canal.

Had another great meal at the Queens Head. Great service from Mia - she always does go the extra mile. Recommend the fish and chips. Looking forward to returning soon - Derek

First time going for a meal, I thought I'll go for the Texan ribs thinking they've been cooked for 7 hours, they of should fell off the bone. I found out when I started eating them they were so tuff not cooked long enough. I was very disappointed. To expensive for what I paid

On my 3rd visit to The Queens head (for my girlfriends birthday) it is with great misfortune that I have to admit it’s standards have dropped. On this most recent experience the good points would involve the mocktails that were slick and refreshing. Secondly, the burger was great for my partner and came out steaming hot. However, from that onwards this review goes downhill. The service was poor, a pub that grips you as a place of atmosphere becomes a place for you to wait…. for which you’ll do a lot of. The steak is expensive, which on two occasions has either been cooked wrong or came out Luke warm at best. The food took 1 hour to reach our table, which had to be prompted by us asking the waiting staff that abandoned us to check on it. The steak then turned up Luke warm and thrown on the plate with little attention to detail. The quickest part of the service was either the bill which they quickly returned so they could most likely ship our table off to the next customer and the birthday table next to us being told to leave so their table could be re used. The staff I must say were not rude, they were polite but they were clearly overworked and had little time to think. I leave this pub feeling disconnected and slightly annoyed, mostly due to the fact that we were in the corner of the room and watched an inconsistent service take place, where people that came in after us were quickly greeted and served food. This pub clearly has potential to be great, hence the number it pulls in. However, you can’t ride that wave forever. Standards have to be maintained.

A lovely pub, but very expensive. Could use more non alcoholic drinks options (very no- frills on the hot drinks). Very expensive to eat.

Me and my partner came in last night. ( Monday 22nd) We didn’t book because it’s January but was surprised at it actually being quite busy however a young gentleman kindly found us a table straight away and even gave us an option of which area we would like to be in. We were promptly offered drinks and given menus. I chose one of the dry January special mock tails which was lovely and was brought over by the smiley bartender. Two girls served us throughout the evening, both were lovely and couldn’t do more for us. Rachel even recommend my husband wine as he was unsure which to go for. We also had a lovely chat with the female manager who seemed passionate. All in all we had a lovely evening, will definitely be returning. Thank you Queens Head staff. :)

Stumbled on this place after a long canal side walk .... lovely warm atmosphere and the food was absolutely delicious our party of 4 all agreed...staff were attentive and friendly no rush after we had eaten....would highly recommend...we will definitely be making a return visit..

Very pleasant evening - good service - good menu - reasonable prices- quite satisfying

On December 9th we invited our children and grandchildren to our traditional “early Christmas” when all 25 of us can get together. We went to the Queen’s Head for a late lunch which was simply fantastic. The staff were superb and the meal plentiful and delicious. The 13 grandchildren aged 2-12 were seated on a long table against the wall and us adults on a parallel table. It was an outstanding success exceeding our expectations and we’ll undoubtedly book it again for next year.

Visited on a Saturday night and between us we had the duck salad and a pizza and chips. Both arrived within 15 minutes of ordering. The mustard sauce on the duck was so strong that we had to send it back. However it was replaced quickly without objection. Overall a good evening

Always heard very good things about the Queens Head, and I was therefore really looking forward to going as part of a Family Birthday evening out. Unfortunately we weren't impressed with our overall experience. We arrived for our booking on time, however it took a member of staff 20 minutes to greet and show us to our table. The choice on the Menu was pretty slim, and it was made even slimmer when, upon being seated, we were informed that there were four options on the Menu that were "not available". Also, certain Roast Dinner items were not available, on a Sunday... I didn't catch the Waiters name, but his attitude throughout the evening was unpleasant. The Food was okay, but overpriced for the quality and portion sizes that we received. We were never asked if we would like any further drinks, so therefore one of us had to keep getting up whilst we were eating, and going to the bar and waiting to be served. The location of the venue is great as it is overlooking the Canal, and it's very clean and well looked after. But, all in all, we were disappointed.

Have not had a bad meal on 6 occasions I've visited. Lovely atmosphere have seating inside and out with view's along the canal. Dog's are welcome.

I had a pizza the base was hard and inedible. Not the best. Maybe shoul have ordered something else. The rest of out table enjoyed their food.

Went here New Year’s Day for lunch with 2 of our friends,arrived early but we were seated straight away .The staff were exceptional very polite well mannered and informative of the menu.Food was excellent and would definitely go again

I have been here before for a birthday meal and it was very good a lovely high end pub/restaurant. Just a few little things that could of made it better we booked in advance there was only 2 of us. They put us near a massive group of 18 people they were so noisy i could just about have a conversation. So we ordered the camembert cheese which came with warm bread chutney and nice onions in white vinegar that was excellent. So I we had some more cutlery put on the table after the starter it was dirty so I asked for clean cutlery we did get a apology for this but really it should of been checked .We ordered the main meal beef dinner from the specials menu the vegetables were rock hard especially the brocoli the beef was 2 big chunks not slices the knives we were given proved difficult in cutting it. My partners beef was so fatty it could not be cut and had to leave some of it. The price I paid for meal was very expensive and if you are paying that sort of money you expect higher standards. I am disappointed I was really looking forward to the meal. It needs more attention to detail. On a positive the service was quick staff were rushed off their feet but helpful

How can you get fish and chips so wrong!! All soggy !! Baileys cheese bland!! 2nd visit in December both had issues. Never again

Soup, steak and vegetables were spot on. Credit to the Chefs at such a busy time of year. Service was slightly lacking and not very attentive, but it was a busy night. Overall, you can't go wrong at this place.

Top marks to the Queen's Head! First time eating out on Christmas Day. Table of ten including two children. Great food, great service and great atmosphere. I would not like to work on Christmas Day but credit to the staff, all friendly and efficient, a great all round experience, we will definitely return.

Visited with friends for Dinner. The welcome was fantastic, great servers. Really helpful, friendly and interested in our visit. The vegetarian options could be increased. A really great place and worth a visit.

This place is a firm favourite of mine and my wife's and we happily travel in order to eat there. The food is always amazing and the setting is lovely. Will continue to visit The Queens Head and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Food excellent, well presented. Service good. My only complaint be it small, is because it's such a large place the noise seems to echo around you.

Visited yesterday (9/12) for pre Christmas lunch. Never been before. Very impressed. The food was excellent. Beer very very good. The service was excellent. I'm looking to returning in July with pals for a birthday meal. We we were attended to by a young woman with an American accent. She did you proud. Merry Christmas from PB and LB x

Popped in on a dog walk and couple of pints, they did have a couple of issues with the real ale, but the staff sorted it out promptly and friendly too

The marquee is nice and warm even when it was 3 deg outside and raining. Great fresh pizzas and very welcoming to dogs.

The Queens Head is lovely, such a lovely atmosphere and beautiful Decor. We went for the 2 for 1 Pizza's and had nachos to start. The Nachos were really nice and came out so quickly, we noticed a big group sit down for what looked like a work Christmas do, the staff were very attentive and kept asking if there's anything else they could get for us. An hour went by, which because they kept asking if we needed anything else led us to believe our pizzas had been missed. It was a lovely vibe and we were enjoying our drinks, so the wait hadn't bothered us, but we did just double check with the waitress. She checked and they unfortunately had been missed. The pizzas were put through and came out with in 15 mins, she went above and beyond, giving us free drinks and not charging us for the pizzas. - sometimes mistakes do happen but it was how the staff dealt with it that made a real difference. We felt very looked after and had a lovely evening. Thank you!

We had our Christmas party here and have to say, it was a wonderful evening. Lucy looked after us in the Wigwam and that girl worked so hard, was attentive and such a credit to this establishment...food was lovely and the setting just perfect. Would suggest better lighting in the wigwam would be useful when food is delivered, but apart from this, I would love to visit here again...x

Stopped in for lunch after walking down the canal and only wanted a couple of sandwiches and a drink. The place is lovely, the staff are friendly and it's somewhere we'll come to again. However, the food we had, which was a ploughman's and cheese and onion baguette, was quite basic and really overpriced. There wasn't enough filling in the baguette and the bread was a bit rubbery. The ploughman's was fine, only one slice of cheddar and a mini pork pie, but far too expensive at 12.95. The food certainly wasn't worth a total of £21.90 (maybe the cost of the cheese and onion baguette for both). Shame because the main meal food we've had previously on other visits have been really nice.

Beautiful setting - nice food, unfortunately staff were inpatient & rude - we felt hurried to leave & a few if our guests had traveled a long way - the girls serving us were scary.

The table booking process and subsequent changes to what I had booked were seamless. We felt welcomed. We enjoyed immaculate and professional service, we all loved our food, really delicious. Imaginative and very attractive menu. The friends I was dining with, who live abroad, commented...

Food was great, service was very slow, particularly the drinks. Ordered a second beer, chased it after 10 minutes but it actually never arrived! Hopefully it was a staff numbers issue on the day rather than normal practice. UPDATE - went back here again for lunch and the place was absolutely full but the service was prompt, friendly and very efficient. Upgraded service to 5 stars!

Lovely food but not a huge choice.

A thoroughly excellent experience had here at the bar and in the restaurant. A decent selection of real ales, well kept and well served. A good if not particularly wide menu complimented by a specials menu, from which we chose and received very good, very well cooked and presented starters and main courses. Pleasant, attentive service also. Recommended.

What a find! An excellent pub with excellent food and very friendly and attentive staff. Dog friendly even though we were a bit muddy from the adjacent canal towpath. They even brought a bowl of water for the dog. Pizzas are a big thing here but they also provide sandwiches and lighter bites. It was busy for a Wednesday lunchtime so that tells its own story. Highly recommended and I wound definitely go again.
