We had an appalling meal at Tge Queens Head today...for our Leicester 40yh birthday party of x14 of us. Despite its lofty reputation and the good service of the many staff members, the food was absolutely atrocious and pricey...the much looked forward duck leg had no more meat on it than one ofy father in law's canaries. was significantly overcooked and consequently, what little meat was on the bone, was a dry and crisp as the very average chips 🍟 other family members had! The minute amount of mash ( made with duck fat (as per menu

Feb 2025 • business I chose this venue for a social gathering for my Spanish students. I own a local award-winning language school, and like to organise events such as these from time to time, for marketing purposes but also because my students learn mainly on Zoom so enjoy the social aspect of getting together over some nice food from time to time. I was told my booking would not be held if I didn't pay the whole hire charge for the teepee upfront, so I did, and fortunately most of my students refunded me but I was immediately out of pocket, as two people dropped out last minute. I then enquired as to whether we could have a few more Spanish dishes in the buffet, and remove some of tge pizzas, which I was told was not possible. I also asked if I needed to pay the buffet upfront, as I would have to ask all guests to pay me in advance, and that would have been an enormous task in an already busy week. I was told it was not necessary, people could pay on the night. Fine. Disappointed but hopeful, I turned up on the night with a friend and her granddaughter. The place looked amazing and cozy. We were greeted by young Mia, who, albeit very accommodating, was a little young and inexperienced. On an occasion such as this it would have been soo much better to have been greeted by a more experienced host , perhaps someone to show off some wines, maybe some Spanish wines, as it was a Spanish event? No wines or drinks were in the teepee, as I was told, "you didn't preorder any'. Fair enough, but putting a few drinks ready in there to save people trekking to the bar, or chasing Mia for orders, wouldn't have hurt. I also asked for some background music, she said she would bring a speaker, but it never materialised. The reason I mentioned my friend's granddaughter eatlier is that I was utterly shocked that, aged 7, she paid FULL price for the buffet, unheard of ! At £18.95 that was, in my eyes, really overpriced for a kids' meal..To top it all off, at the end of the evening I was told that some of the buffet meals hadn't been paid for, and so after a lot of awkward stores between Mia and her young colleague, and the remaining few guests, I had to put my hand in my pocket and foot the bill myself. Again! I would have taken it up with a senior manager but no such luck as the whole place seemed to be run by teenagers. It was a bitter end to what could have been a perfectly good evening with a little extra and more considerate organisation for a local businesswoman who would otherwise have chosen this venue for future events .

We found ourselves here following a visit to the Jinney Ring Centre. To be honest we would have ate there however they have now adopted a No Dogs Allowed policy. A Google search, a quick call and we were here in 10 minutes. It was a good 'shout', all the better as we had no idea of what we were about to find. The car park and bridge approach to the place is unusual, there is a small car park adjacent to the entrance but you would be lucky to get on it. Mid afternoon on a Sunday and it was rammed which is always a good sign. It's a very nicely presented place, trendy with a good atmosphere but for me the staff were exceptional. They bent over backwards to find us a seat with the dog, and we're genuinely friendly and attentive throughout. We really enjoyed our meals, the wife having a Sunday lunch and me unusually opting for a burger. She was more than happy, and I enjoyed mine but I would have liked a few more 'frills' e.g., an onion ring or the option of sweet potato chips. Too full for a dessert. Service charge is added to the bill which I was more than happy to pay.

We won’t be returning, we were very disappointed. Went with our friends for Sunday lunch after a nice walk along the canal. All of us had the Sunday roast, the beef was over cooked despite asking for pink. The pork was ok but a bit dry, with no apple sauce despite it saying so on the menu. Also we only had two small roast potatoes each, along with a relatively small bowl of veg for the four of us comprising of only some shredded cabbage and a few carrots. So as as a consequence quite small dinners and pricey too, not an issue if it was perfect but it obviously was not in anyway. Made even more costly with the 15% service charge added to the bill too. The waitress asked if we enjoyed the meals and straight away I said it was only ok and that only two small roast potatoes each was very measly, and she replied oh dear and walked away. Last time we visited here the meal was a lot better with more vegetables and roast potatoes. So totally disappointing.

For many years have been going to The Queens Head it was brilliant when it was a carvery but times change and so do the owners and the food. Very over priced and not the quality which should show in the prices. Was their for my granddaughters birthday I had the Malaysian Laksa with noodles it was oily and gloopy fortunately they did take it off the bill at £18.45 it wasn’t good. My husband had the fish and chips which came presented lovely but the fish batter was not cooked on the inside although the fish was. The rest of the party was pleased with their food. The staff are excellent and very attentive and work really hard. Such a shame the chef needs to up his game if they want to continue.

Been here many times and staff are always pleasant and the atmosphere is nice and buzzy. Unfortunately this time the food wasn’t great. I had whipped goats cheese and beetroot to start but it looked like it had been prepared and left in the fridge ( looked dry) and the crackers or poppadums were stale. For main course I had pumpkin sage tortellini with hazelnuts which was quite dry and it seemed to be swimming in a very greasy oil.

Disappointing Experience at Queen's Head I recently visited the Queen's Head with high expectations, especially since it's known for its great food. Unfortunately, my experience was far from what I had hoped. While the atmosphere was pleasant and the service was friendly, the food was a major letdown. The dishes we ordered were bland, lacked flavor, and didn't live up to the reputation the restaurant claims to have. For the price, I expected much better quality and taste. It’s disappointing when a place that promises so much falls short on such a key element. I hope they take this feedback into account and improve, but unfortunately, I won’t be returning anytime soon.

Ate here recently and it was wonderful, as always. Had the carvery a few times (also 10/10 recommend!) but this time I had the Bourginon Pie which was great but then I had a Ferrero Rocher cheesecake which was To. Die. For. Photo attached - excuse the poor photography, I promise it's amazing! It was honestly one of the best desserts I've ever had at a restaurant. Very well priced, considering the quality of the food you get. I could easily pay more than this in other places for similar quality. Service was warm, friendly and efficient too. All around a gem of a place that people should know about, hence the review.

The tables all have enough room between the to avoid the feeling of being crowded. The staff are all very friendly and professional supporting the quality pub ethos. Food very good, but limited choice. Expensive, especially starters. Staff there when needed and not pushy. Extremely busy,so not recommended if you like to talk over dinner and not be shouting to the person a metre away. Another drawback is seating larger parties are placed near main walkway to Tepee,so constantly getting a really cold blow. Try and book the tables by kitchen side, avoiding constant flow of people walking past. Lovely setting, done walk along canal many times. Would definitely only do a lunch if we return.

Excellent in almost every respect. We were a group of 4 and ordered different main courses. My fellow diners ordered Grilled Fillet of Seabass, Rosemary Roasted Lamb Rump and Grilled Za'atar Chicken Breast from the Main Menu and all were very tasty and of a generous size. I ordered (Cumberland) Sausage and Mash from the Specials Menu and it was also very tasty but the portion size was unbelievably small. It would have been disappointing for a child's meal. Three very small sausages and not much mash! It was more expensive than some of the other meals and poor value for money. Don't order it if you have a decent appetite. We meet friends here quite often and are seldom disappointed so we will be back ... but this time I'll stick with the Main Menu!

Expensive soft drinks. Pizza had the thinnest wipe of tomato sauce and precious little cheese. Chairs in marquee don't match the tables so uncomfortable to eat unless you borrow several cushions off other chairs or roll the sheepskin rug up to lift you up. Arrived for Sunday lunch at 12, service excellent and the general ambience was good, decor and fittings very nice quality. However, that's where the good things stopped. My Sunday lunch was luke warm and the vegetables were microwaved, meaning they were almost cold when served. The meat, whilst plentiful, was very rare and the Cauliflower cheese was bland. Also the very loud house phone was constantly going off in the dining area spoiling the dining experience. For £27 for Sunday lunch, I was expecting a somewhat more satisfying experience.
