The Queens Head in Bromsgrove

You enter this pub and are immediately bowled over by the gorgeous panoramic view, straight out over the canal, and the classy interior. It felt like being on holiday! The food was first class too. I had the sea bass in an orange hollandaise sauce with fennel, samphire and confit potatoes. My meal arrived piping hot, in a wonderfully generous portion, and was absolutely delicious. “Little Ryan” was our waiter and was very lovely and helpful. So glad we have found this lovely, classy pub - we will be back !

Part of the Lovely Pubs Group the Queens Head stands out. The decor and furniture create a cozy atmosphere and friendly vibe. The tables all have enough room between the to avoid the feeling of being crowded. The staff are all very friendly and professional supporting the quality pub ethos. The menu is typical of good pub grub and presented well. Served quickly and piping hot the food was excellent. Although when we visited in was raining there is outside seating and dining area. Located on the edge of the canal the setting is country pub vibe.

Ok, my British Fish and Chips. The fish was lovely but the chips were not the best. Come on last time I was here they were proper chips not frozen chips. At £19 for 🐠 fish and chips, get it right now. Don't ruin your reputation. Still a lovely pub.

We had another great experience with superb food & atmosphere. Excellent service from Max who always goes the extra mile to make sure we are looked after.

The outside terrace is absolutely gorgeous! It is so cozy, even when the weather is chilly out. The food is spectacular also. We took advantage of their 2 for 1 pizza AND cocktail deal, so our bill at the end of the evening was rather enviable! Great service - the waiters / waitresses couldn’t be more helpful. Absolutely worth a visit!

I thought to take my time and write about our lovely service by a waitress named Mia N - At all times she ensured we was satisfied with the service, Ensuring a meal was taken off the bill as steak requested as well done wasn’t completely cooked through. Mia then took this meal off the bill and allowed us to choose a desert off the menu on the house. Chatty, Fun and a warming smile. Truly made our afternoon. Thankyou Mia.

Nice pub, disappointing food. Order 1/2 a chicken @ £18.95 got severed two chicken legs!! Was told the chef didn't understand what 1/2 a chicken was! Tbf the staff were great got 25% off which was about the amount of chicken that's was missing!

What a superbly presented pub restaurant. The feel of it is superb. The chairs are dead comfy. Loads of staff. A busy but very chilled feeling. I cannot believe this has been hidden from me for so long. What a gem of a place. Can't wait to go again. I only gave 4 stars for food. The chips could have been slightly better. But the rest of the meals in our party. Not much left on the plates apart from a few pizza crusts. Not the cheapest pub food but well worth investing in a bit of quality. Looking forward to our next visit.

Great place to stop for a drink...we had been for a long walk along tardebigge locks and welcomed a cold drink here before heading back. Lovely area to sit outside and dog friendly. A little overpriced for soft drinks but lovely atmosphere.

Lovely place but food is expensive

Stopped here on sunday 19th August after a walk down the lock flight, lovely pub and staff we spoke to on the bar were fantastic. I will call in again when we are next in the area

Went for my 40th birthday celebrations with family. Booked a table in the marquee next to the canal, and the weather was brilliant. Food was outstanding and service was great too. Really would recommend this place to come, not just for special occasions but for those spontaneous trips to somewhere quiet and nice.

Visited here for a late lunch whilst visiting Bromsgrove. We both had a pizza which was very good - lots of toppings. We also shared a tiramsu which was lovely. We ordered a couple of cocktails and my mojito came without any mint. When I asked where the mint was, I was told they had run out, and I was offered an alternative. As mint is a main ingredient in a mojito, I feel this should have been mentioned when I ordered or when it was served. A lovely location on the canal

We stopped off for a light lunch whilst we were walking a section of the canal. We received a warm welcome and were offered a choice of seating areas. We opted for the Marquee section,which was perfect for us on a sunny day as we preferred a bit of shade. It was busy but our order was taken promptly and the food arrived in a timely fashion. We chose from the sandwich menu so can’t comment on the mains or other options but the food was nicely presented and tasty. We would certainly stop again if we walk that section in the future.

What a glorious location for a restaurant, on the canal edge. Plenty atmosphere, lots of v friendly & pleasant staff, food v good. Worth a visit.

Beautiful, lunch with a friend buy 1 pizza get one free with a bottle of wine £20 each. Great staff gorgeous position next to the canal the garden space is really welcoming plenty of staff at hand it was a real treat.

Very overrated, if you want a below average meal at very high prices in a nice setting then it’s perfect.

A great country pub. A real find. It was full inside early on a Monday evening, proving its popularity, though plenty of room outside. A family visit, we all really enjoyed it. Good GF and Vegan options too.

Beautiful pub in a very good location. Dropped one star for service as I felt some of the staff, whilst polite and friendly, we're also a bit pushy about us ordering more drinks/food.

Been here recently as a couple and with a group of friends and loved it both times. Right on the canal. We stayed longer than we expected to as it was so nice. The marquee is beautiful and dog friendly too. Food and service both great. There was an offer of buy one get one free on the pizzas which we took advantage of. Fast becoming my favourite place for lunch!

Afternoon lunch with a friend. for a Tuesday it was busy which showed us how popular it is. We will be back, bringing our other friends too.

Excellent, great food had prawn baguette. Others had fish and chips and a chicken wrap. Shame beef sandwich off the menu as very popular. Overall great experience and have being coming there off and on for 25 years.

Love this pub in terms of location, fabulous atmosphere, warm and welcoming decor, efficient and friendly staff. Food not always as good as should be for the relatively high price (for pub) but when good is good!

Arrived for Sunday lunch at 12, service excellent and the general ambience was good, decor and fittings very nice quality. However, that's where the good things stopped. My Sunday lunch was luke warm and the vegetables were microwaved, meaning they were almost cold when served. The meat, whilst plentiful, was very rare and the Cauliflower cheese was bland. Also the very loud house phone was constantly going off in the dining area spoiling the dining experience. For £27 for Sunday lunch, I was expecting a somewhat more satisfying experience.

Sent two burnt pizza back. Bad meal .ruined our lunch. Won't be returning

Quality of food wasn’t great, had the Queens head burger and fish and chips. Service wasn’t much better but it was busy.

Nice enough. Pricey... Full of people who drive white convertibles and wear Ray Bans... but nice enough. Shame on the last visit we were greeted by the sight of one of the chefs wandering about the car park shooting snot rockets... Didn't eat that time 🤮

Amazing location and staff were helpful. Food did take a little long to come, but that was expected as the pub was really busy. We had a table outside along the waterway. Really nice for a late summers evening meal

Fantastic place they love our dogs and dogs can sit with while you eat, customer service is fabulous we always give a tip for our waitress.

In the past, I’ve been a big fan of the queens head and visit regularly. The good stuff…. Friendly staff (yesterday overworked clearly with the outside area we were in). Beautiful setting by the canal Now the not so good stuff… burger was dry and thin patties and quality has definitely declined. I don’t normally have dessert 🍨 but as it was my birthday 🎁 treat from my friend…. Ordered a knicker bocker glory at £9.95. What a disappointment. In a short sundae glass. Yes, all was in as described, with a cheap squirt of canned cream, 3 scoops of ice cream, it just looked rubbish. I thought they brought me the wrong dessert of 3 scoops of ice cream off the menu. Also my friend asked them to put a candle 🕯️ in it for my birthday, that request didn’t happen. Hopefully management will see this and respond, but maybe my friend and I need a new regular lunch venue.

Don’t go here if you’re vegan. The only offering on the menu was a minuscule portion of dahl. It would barely rank as a starter never mind a main dish and it cost over £15. Rip off springs to mind. The pizzas were ok but nothing special. Bases were a bit tough tbh. Would we go back?….no.

Our second visit to this great country pub for lunch before doing the canal walk. They have a great menu and the food is well worth the visit.

Not too good. An 8 ounce steak was around about 4 ounce and mainly fat. For 3 cokes it was £12 ridiculous. AND to top it off they don't do garlic bread atrocious. Do better.No onion rings. The price you pay is for the decor, definitely not the food.

Staff are friendly, pub is lovely and good location but the food was average. I wouldn’t probably go again for food just drinks.

Oh what a great pub! Could not fault it in any way. Service was just top notch. Food so tasty. Nothing was rushed and on the flip side we didn't feel abandoned. Limoncello spritz was delicious

Not for us - the expensive food was not great and felt a little Toby Carvery (?) Might have been an off night for the kitchen team.

Had a nice meal off the all day menu. Reasonably good value but felt we were ripped off on drinks. We paid £12.50 for a large (250ml) glass of rose wine. Lots of adverts for 2 for 1 cocktails, happy Hour £1 off pints so felt misled about the value. I would expect to pay around £8.50 in an establishment of this quality. I’m sure the pub made a good profit margin on this sale. Unfortunately they will lose more than they made in future business. We will not be frequenting any of the ‘Lovely Pubs’ chain pubs in the future.

We popped in of the canal path (we were doing a long run) for refreshments. Only had Squash and Crisps but the staff were so lovely and filled our water bottles too. Will definitely visit for a meal on future. Looked lovely.

just popped in for a drink & the garden service was brilliant, really impressed. Looks like a really busy place in a place not as easy to find so it quite obvious, they're doin something right eh?? Moored up here many years ago & have had a big birthday celebration in the teepee in the winter months recently all which was very good, Would definitely recommend

Was part of a party using the tipi and honestly can't fault anything about the place! The staff were so friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we need. The buffet was incredible, one of the best spreads I've seen in a long time! Would recommend this place for a bite to eat or to hire their spaces, honestly amazing!

Lovely setting, particularly on a sunny day, but nice inside too. Be aware the kitchen closes at 6pm on a Sunday though!

On looking at reviews we decided to eat here for the 1st time. Had high expectations. After being seated our 1st impression was it was so loud! When being asked for drinks i couldnt hear what the waitress was saying. Had to ask her to repeat herself 3 times. I had the house burger and my wife had chicken burger. I asked for extra cheese and bacon (additional £1.50, which i thought was fair) when it arrived there was a pathetic cheese slice and bacon slice that looked looked more like the size of a bacon-fry crisp. Rest of the food was nice to be fair. Very over-priced for what you get. Not an enjoyable experience overall which is a shame.

All good. Great location on the canal. Parking is good too but if disabled not many spaces adjacent to pub. we were lucky.

Please it is very nice. Food is delicious. Fully recovered pizza. There is a big difference between this pizza and pizza from takeaway. I will definitely visit this place again.

Had Sunday lunch with family for a birthday meal. Had to preorder as there were 20 of us but all the meals came together and the beef Sunday lunch was really tasty. Service was friendly and prompt. Would definitely go back. We sat in the markee which was brig and airy. The garden was large with lots of outdoor seating, couldn't try this though as the weather wasn't condusive to sitting outside.

Lovely pub, steak was great, chips not cooked enough, pale and soggy. No attempt at making the rind on my wife's pork chop crispy but the meat was delicious. Salmon and Prawn starters excellent. No room for pudding! Server, can't remember his name sorry, tall lad in shorts, was attentive yet not over intrusive. Just the right level of casual. Bar staff were great, especially Buffy. Cheers!

Excellent food,wonderful service and atmosphere!

A massive special mention to Ryan, the manager. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left absolutely nothing was too much trouble. Ryan’s professionalism, courtesy and friendliness made such an impression on us that we would go as far as to say he provided us with one of the next experiences we’ve ever had. The food was impeccable, perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked and perfectly presented. 3 courses later and we are stuffed but very content. We are definitely coming back again (very soon!) l, not just so that we can experience this amazing place but also make up for a mistake on our part: the tip we left was (accidentally) nowhere near enough and not what we intended to pay. When we return, the tip we will leave will more than reflect our humblest of apologies to Ryan, the chefs and other serving staff who looked after us so wonderfully. 10/10 for the staff, the quality of service and the quality of the food!

Excellent friendly staff, food was of a high standard, sitting outside by the canal is very pleasant on a warm afternoon, we have booked the Tepee out for a family do so I will have to update this review after as well.

Went for lunch, we'd booked a table for 12.15 Saturday. At that point it was fairly quiet, not long after it got really busy.. There were loads of staff about so you didn't have to wait to be served or for your meals to arrive. Food was lovely. Because it was very busy it got a little loud so sometimes struggled to hear acorss the table. That said it wouldn't put us off going again.

I love eating here, there's Airways a good vibe, excellent service and I've never had had a bad meal. Highly recommend.

I visited this pub yesterday and was disappointed to see how scruffy it was since I was there 2 years ago. The menu was very uninspiring so we chose not to stay. It’s such a nice setting, and clearly a popular choice by many but it’s in dire need of cleaning up, so will no longer be my first choice to eat sadly.

It was very expensive for the style of food, but the quality is fine. Service is very friendly and helpful. Catered for a party of 10 with children, so that was done really well. Staff engaged with the children, and nothing was too much trouble. Very nice pub. Great range of drinks

I really enjoyed the kidney starter. It was like a steak and kidney pie but without the pastry. I really enjoyed the frangelico coffee. It tasted hot and cold. The cookie dough ice cream was nice. Service was friendly.

First time here and our table was in the marquee area. It was a lovely atmosphere almost like sitting outside with the artificial grass carpet and hanging foliage. The seats had cushions and faux fur throws and fan heaters situated around the area provided heat. Great choice of food on menu and service was just the right amount of attention. Would definitely recommend a visit.

This was our first visit as we met up with friends in the area. It was their recommendation and so we looked forward to it with excitement. We were not disappointed! There was an extensive menu and all the meals were lovely. The lamb was beautifully cooked and the large pizza and equally large fish and chips were delicious. The restaurant was full on a Friday lunch time so the atmosphere was great.

Had to wait about 30 mins after our table booking time. Food cooked to order and fresh, portion size was good. Friendly, helpful staff. Good experience. Slightly over priced.

Visited on a mid-week early evening. It was busy. Food was OK - we had an assortment of pizza and duck salads which seem to be a firm favourite. Service was prompt except when it comes to paying the bill where you always have to chase them. If you’re forced to park in the lower car park it’s not suitable for wheelchair users either. The top car park is suitable although small.

This was a great place to eat. Not quite sure if it is more a restaurant than a pub but very nice. Food was lovely and the styling has a hint of ski chalet about it. It is next to a canal so ask for a canal side table. Looks like it has a good sized function room. Easy access. We'll worth a visit. Staff were super friendly too.
