Visited a friend yesterday with my sister and his Mum. We were treated to a lovely Sunday lunch. Really good food and the chef should win a prize for roast potatoes! Great freshly cooked food and a lovely pub with good service. Thank you to all the staff for making such an effort for my sister, who is a coeliac. Much appreciated 👏

My friend treated me, my sister and his mum to Sunday lunch today. I have Coeliac Disease and have to eat gluten free. My friend had been in touch with the chef beforehand to make sure I could be catered for. The chef came over to our table, and I asked him a few questions. He explained that he could make adjustments so that everything would be safe for me to eat. The meal was absolutely amazing! The most delicious roast potatoes and mash I think I've ever had. Thank you so much to all the team - you're amazing! 😀

Came across this establishment by accident whilst having a 'drive around' and just called in. Glad we did. Perfect ambience and the food was excellent. The young lady who served us was friendly, polite, professional and beyond helpful. The whole experience was made better because of her. We have had Sunday lunch here on a few occasions the service is really good, roast dinner is amazing from duck roast potatoes to generous portions of a variety of meat, delicious cauliflower cheese, the starters are lovely too but we have learned to share a starter as the roast is more than enough and we have never been able to eat a dessert but they look delicious too

We were driving past and thought, and saw the sign "now serving food"... "Ooh I wonder what their Sunday lunch is like" One work... SUPERB. The beef was soft and tender, the roast potatoes crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. Everything else cooked perfectly. The choice of starters was good. The service was excellent. This is a proper pub... Not a gastro pub.. it does a great pint with brilliant food. The only fault I could find was the deserts - not much choice and (unlike everything else) seemed to be frozen.... BUT HEY.. looking at the size of the kitchen, that doesn't come as a shock... It looks tiny. So in short - great starter, superb lunch.. would HIGHLY recommend. Thank you

First class food coupled with first class service.( Great chef - friendly waitresses) Went for Sunday lunch which was reasonably priced and cooked to perfection. Very generous portions with a good variety of starters and main course ( too full to try the desserts) !!! Looking forward to a return visit sooner rather than later.

Wow what a gem, looking from the outside I wouldn’t have gone in!! But thanks to Trip we overlooked the outside appearance and booked for Sunday Dinner, best decision ever, never had a roast dinner or starter in a pub as good, and we are foodies we like to dine in top restaurants and cruises so feel we are qualified to give our meal 5* the Yorkshire so light and crispy the beef top cut beautiful vegetables and cauliflower with a cheese sauce to drool over, the starters Blackpudding & pork fritters and belly pork in hoisin sauce were delicious and with a bit of rice would pass as a main, unfortunately too full to have a dessert, maybe next time, thank you chef and the service was good too

After a round of golf this was our choice of venue. Sat outside on the decking choosing our Sunday lunch. We all decided on 2 courses. Opting for fish goujons/ salt n pepper goujons as starters. Delicious,fresh, tasty and filling! Next course. 3 Sunday lunch and a scampi! Great waitress service. Food arrived. Beef delicious although the diner would have preferred a bit rare. Gammon and chicken very tender and gorgeous. Plenty of veg. Asked for a gravy boat and that also was not a problem. Scampi; too much! Huge portion. Also scrumptious. Nothing at all to fault here. Will defo dine here again all happy xx

We were a party of 10 and when we arrived I think the last large party hadn’t quite managed to vacate their seats. This was no problem as we sat out in the sunshine whilst more tables were put together. The staff were really friendly and professional about this and kept us up to date. These things happen! The menu was mostly Sunday lunch based with specials such as the steak which was great and there was a dairy free kids option which is helpful for us. The portions were just right and the food quality was lovely. Our waitress, Emily was kind and fantastic at remembering everything we ordered. Delicious and handled any issues really well. We will be back!

We visited The White Swan as a family eating last night. The food was absolutely amazing albeit it we had to wait a little longer but don’t mind this as good home cooked food and obviously takes more time to prepare. Definitely worth the wait.. The staff were very friendly and attentive and made sure we were well looked after. The only downfall of the evening was a table of 4 that seemed hell bent on making the staff feel awkward with their bad attitude. Not only that, after eating their starters and ordering drinks, then proceeded to complain at the time their main was taking to come out of the kitchen. The waitresses did an amazing job apologising and tried to keep their spirits up. Unfortunately when the mains arrived, 2 of which were steaks the party of 4 proceeded to stand up and left the food just served on the table and left, without paying… what an absolute disgrace! Local business are without doubt feeling the pinch at the moment and you get customers like this. To the new management and staff I take my hat off to you! Food great, friendly staff and without doubt a lovely place to spend some family time.

Visited today for tea expecting standards to be similar to previous visits but that was not the case under the new management. We arrived slightly early and our table wasn’t ready. However the guy behind the bar apologised for this which we were happy with. Once seated we were given one menu to share but found the choice very limited and that there were no starters!! We ordered our meals - one of which was a steak. We had quite a long wait but when the meals eventually arrived there was no steak knife or the offer of extra drinks. The food itself was mediocre at best - roast potatoes were soggy, mash was dry and gravy likely made from granules. The lady who took our plates didn’t offer us the dessert menu so we paid and left. The staff really need to up their game to ensure customers feel welcomed and that custom is valued if the new management are to succeed.

Me and my family was passing by and called in for some food this afternoon, the staff was really friendly, especially the girl with the black hair which served us ☺️ food was very very tasty and really good value for the money ! Me and my husband both had steaks which were cooked to perfection ! I will defiantly be back !

No fault found with starters. But both ordered steak done medium. One was medium rare fortunately hubby got that one and he’s not as fussy as me.

Called in to meet friends in November. Pub was busy with diners and although I didn’t eat the food offering looked good. Good range of cask ales on offer and I plumbed for the Farmers Blonde which was very more ish ! The landlord and landlady were chatty and helpful,a rarity I find these days. All in all an lovely session which I shall be repeating soon, perhaps to sample the food next time

Sometimes you just cannot hold back on a pub. The metal sign outside white swan shouts classy before going in.

I regularly use this pub, but have never tried the food.

The current Landlord has been in charge since November 2017 and has made a few simple changes. Firstly, there is a choice of 6 cask ales, some of which change weekly and there have been some really good beers (The landlord regularly announces a new beer on the pub Facebook page). Secondly, the new menu in conjunction with the new chef, has been giving me a headache deciding what to have next. I haven't had the Quorn Cottage Pie yet, but I'll get round to it. The specials are always worth contemplating and the Saturday curries have been worth trying too. I must also state that I particularly enjoy the breakfast on weekday mornings, only £5, it's a bargain. I do have one gripe, it takes me an hour to walk to the Swan but my dog gets a treat and some fuss and I can chat to the staff, so it's worth it. The world would be a better place if more pubs were like this one.

What a lovely little pub!! We called for breakfast and we were very happy we did! Large full English breakfast and a lovely lady serving. We shall indeed be going again and we are also going to try the Sunday lunches as the menu looked very good.

This pub is a real gem, not to be missed, the food is excellent nothing is too much trouble, they even have a snacks menu, we had home cooked chips and home cooked onions, lovely.

Was staying a little further down the road at the Foxglove but as the restaurant and bar there was pretty full we decided to go for a walk to see if we could find an alternative, this turned out to be a very good decision. It was cold night but the welcome at the White Swan was as warm as could be. We enjoyed some excellent cask ales next to a roaring fire and had a delicous home cooked meal. Highly recommend a visit here.

We dropped in here for Sunday lunch last Sunday as we had read the good reviews on here. We were not disappointed! The food was outstanding. I had crab starter and lamb roast which was really good. My partner had blue cheese mushrooms and steak and kidney pie. We were really impressed with the food, service and reasonable prices. We even tried to squeeze a pudding in which was almost impossible as we were pretty stuffed. The jam roll was delicious. You have to try it to believe it! I'm coming back here again soon and you should do!

A sudden decision to have a Sunday lunch out caused me to pop in to the white Swan, Kirkburton as I was passing. I just really fancied a roast beef lunch and I was not disappointed. I could have had lamb but I was intent on the beef which was presented beautifully with perfectly cooked veg and a Yorkshire pudding which did our county proud. The beef was first rate. My wife did not have the same hunger for a roast dinner so she opted for belly pork which she assures me was delicious. This pub is a proper real ale local with attentive friendly staff and a really first rate chef. Long may it continue.

Came here for a late lunch with my husband. The menu has a range to suit all tastes. The specials board is definitely something special! The chef there is seriously good. It's great, freshly cooked food and then some.

Freshly prepared fish/seafood starters at £5-£6 each were very good. Unfortunately the two different main courses at £10-£11 each were more than disappointing and well below average. Excellent service albeit there were only two other people dinning, but friendly and efficient waitress.

Called in for a pint (choice of 5 real ales) with the intention of having a couple then walking home. A couple on a nearby table had a meal and it smelt amazing so I decided to eat. I had starter and main and it was presented exquisitely and was so full of flavour. The member of staff serving behind the bar and waiting on tables was unruffled and provided a first rate service, she was warm friendly and efficient.I have been in the pub a few times now and have to say, it is becoming a favourite with great food, great ales and lovely staff.

Sin duda, él ofrece todas las grapas-pub, exquisitamente presentado y preparado, pero junto a él, ofrece mucho más. Tengo que volver por la langosta (qué celoso cuando lo vi) y una docena de veces más para experimentar el menú completo. Y el almuerzo que ofrece? Por £4. 95 sólo hay un competidor, el Rose en Thurstonland.

Los tres platos aquí era muy impresionante. La comida estaba muy bien preparada y muy sabrosa. Los nachos eran increíbles y el jamón y champiñones tarta era enorme, con piezas de jamón grueso real. El treacle esponja fue impecable. Nuestro barman, que también era el propietario, era muy amable y servicial, y atendidos sus clientes. Este pub es pequeño y muy acogedor con gran sabor. Es una pena que sólo sirve comida Jueves Domingos.

He visitado un par de veces y ha sido preciosa cada vez. Sinceramente, no me puedo quejar! Magnífica comida bien preparada que parece bueno! Yo recomendaría a cualquiera y el Swan mis amigos y familia regularmente comer aquí también! Mi compañero es muy particular y le encanta estar aquí!

Good selection of made to order pub food, arrived piping hot and lovely tasting food.Friendly staff in a homely pub atmosphere. Can't fault anything and will be back for sure.

It is dirty? The cook uses dirty tee towel to handle food and wipe his nose. Children chicken looked like fish!!! The pie was salty and crust was an inch thick!

Konstailemattomat jälkkärit, treakle sponge ja jam roly poly runsaan lämpimän vanilijakastikkeen kanssa kruunasivat aterian. Mennään ehdottomasti uudelleen.

We live very close to the White Sawn so thought we would give it try for our Sunday meal. The service was excellent as was the food. We had traditional wholesome food that was cooked to perfection and well presented. Couldn't fault anything and we will certainly be visiting again soon. Thank you

Decided to pop in yesterday with my husband for a late lunch. I was planning to have a roast beef Sunday Dinner, but I spotted herb and cheese crusted cod with mash and a mustard sauce, so I ordered that. My husband had the belly pork. The cod was a really meaty and fresh piece that was cooked perfectly! Both dishes were presented very well, and thoroughly enjoyable! Excellent value for money at just under £10 each. The chef is very talented, and enjoys creating some interesting dishes with great quality meat and seafood. Service was very friendly as usual. This is a lovely pub, and deserves to be very busy! We will definetly keep returning for great food!

Just had lunch, our first visit but won't be the last.Received a warm welcome, chose out table then our meal.I had battered haddock chips and mushy peas.Tony had chicken and mushroom pie, chips and mushy peas.The chips best ever, just like Tony makes, peas, very hot, usually just warm, haddock cooked to perfection and no skin. Tony said his pie was excellent, home made and the last mouthful just as hot as the first. Of course the chips very good too.Excellent service and made to feel really welcome.

Based on previous reviews we decided to try the White Swan. We were not disappointed. Proper pub atmosphere with quality restaurant food. Plenty of choice, cooked to perfection. Friendly staff and good service. Can definitely recommend.

Excellent lunch, we travelled down to huddersfield from Newcastle to take My mother & father in law out for lunch on saturday to celebrate mothers day, staff very friendly, and lunch was absolutely superb, definitely reccommend, looking forward to going back to try the tapas on a thursday. Keep up the Excellent standard.

First visit to this pub, based on reviews. Wow!! The food is fantastic, well cooked, well presented and very fresh. My wife and our two teenagers had different mains consisting of Roast Beef dinner, Fish and Chips, Steak and Ale pie and Chicken Strips in a wrap , all cooked to perfection., followed by a selection of tasty deserts. Beer is excellent too, had a pint of Farmers Blonde which was well kept. I also really respect the fact they didn't increase their prices for Mother's Day and had the niormal menu at normal prices. The prices were very good especially considering the quality of the food. If you enjoy great food at a reasonable price, go here. What are you waiting for!! We are going to try the tapas night in a couple of weeks.

We dived in for a quick breakfast and were treated to a wonderful, freshly cooked breakfast that really hit the spot. Simple, basic but bang on for a most incredible price. You can't really fault places like this with friendly service, nice staff and a lovely, homely feel. We also know this pace well as a pub and it delivers on all fronts - great beer, grand staff and a vibrant feel to the place. Long live local pubs.

Visited New Years day for a belated meal for mums birthday, rang ahead to book as there was 5 of us no problem, did have a wait as two tables had just ordered but that was fine and when it arrived it was worth waiting for, mum and I had veggie options and both were superb, have been for the Christmas menu and a Thursday for the tapas night enjoyed them all, will be returning soon, great as its local as well, go and enjoy. Thanks to the chef who deserves a mention and works so hard!!!! also the friendly staff.

As this pub is local to me we decided to sample the breakfast over a very lazy Christmas period for us. We weren't disappointed! The food was lovely and the members of staff very friendly. The landlord even let my daughter pull a pint after she enquired about the pumps. Family friendly and great value.

Went here on a recommendation...and we were not disappointed. We all ordered the beef/ham roast dinner which was really tasty. Good gravy, crispy roast potatoes, and good mix of veg. All finished with clean plates (even our picky 9 yr old son!)We also had pudding...good sponges with custard etc. Staff were friendly and helpful :) Will definitely be returning!

We went to this pub after hearing from a few people that the Chef was excellent...how right they were. Tapas for two with a bottle of wine was only £25 per couple. The food was very tasty and served dish by dish unlike some places where everything is served in one go. I cannot recommend this Tapas evening enough and it will surely become more and more popular. Go now while you can still get a table!

From the outside it will not strike you as anything other than a pub. This will be reinforced when you enter, but don't be put off. The welcome is friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Nice selection of beers and drinks. Food is outstanding and very reasonably priced. Make sure and check out the specials board. I had frankly the tastiest pork belly I have ever had. Also the black pudding in red onion marmalade starter was a knock out.We liked the food so much we went back to enjoy the breakfast the following morning. Definitely not one to miss.

Myself and my husband ate here for the first time tonight, and we weren't disappointed. Great menu of fresh seafood and meat dishes. The quality of food and presentation is superb, and we throughly enjoyed our meals of sea bass and belly pork. Portion sizes are generous and prices are extremely reasonable. Service is very good and friendly. We will definitely return and recommend. They also do breakfast on a weekend until 12pm which I would imagine will also be very good. We are planning to try it soon!

We've adopted this place as our local after moving to the area a couple of months ago. We've been making our way through the menu with every visit. The food is great quality, well cooked and very reasonable in price. The specials are always worth a look and the pie of the day is definitely recommended. Relaxed and friendly staff and customers alike.

this is the second time we have been to this quaint little pub for a meal certainly want be the last time though the staff are warm and welcoming from the moment you enter till yopubu leave. the food its self was well worth the visit all well cooked and large portions too I had the whiby haddock with proper chips and minted mushy peas one of the few times I have left some food on my plate too full to finish it all the wife had the sunday lunch with roast lamb and a well sized Yorkshire pudding with three different vegetables. they have a good selection of real ales the one I had was of good quality and taste. if you are a Huddersfield giants rugby fan and you take a match ticket you get a discount on your bill witch for a Yorkshire man is brilliant if you are in this area I can certainly recommend this pub to visit

Went on the 13/06/15 for the Phileas Fogg event, 8 courses, aperitif and a bottle of house wine all for £50 per couple. The service was ,as usual fantastic, the food and drink were great. The whole evening was a great success.We have been here several times. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the choice of beers is great and changes every week. You need a good appatite !I would rcommend The White swan to anyone

Now a free-house, renovated and attracting a better clientele. Visited for lunch but the evening menus are imaginative. The chef, Andy, works hard to give customer satisfaction - and succeeds! Portion sizes are generous to say the least and quality is to match; so often with pub-food, quality fails in favour of quantity. My Steak and Ale Pie was flavoursome, the fish in the Fish and Chips was gargantuan. Desserts are professional and many quite exotic.A 'must visit' establishment!

As we fall into the over 60 category, we often visit the White Swan at lunchtime.£7.95 will buy you an excellent, beatifully cooked main course with a choice of a pint of hand pulled beer or 175 ml wine or a soft drink etc.

Our party of 8 booked the White Swan and enjoyed an excellent four course meal. Course 1 was carrot and blood orange soup - divine! I had melon, fruits and sorbet for starter, nice and light knowing Andy's portion sizes. Main for me was beef medallions which were wonderfully tender and spot on medium rare with a great sauce and veggies. Dessert was cheese and biscuits. My wife had mixed fish starter and lobster for mains, again excellent. All this plus a welcome kir royal and free bottle of house wine (good quality) for £50 per couple must be the best value around.The service on a busy Saturday night was smiley and attentive, just right!We have been back for lunch since and are never disappointed.

If you want traditional home made pub food, good portions then give the white swan a visit. The beers ate hand pulled and food recommended. Service was quick. Dont miss the pie of the day at the bottom. Really enjoyed our meal and would return.

This out of town local has reopened earlier this year under new ownership and along with a great choice of cask beers has recently been serving food. The menu is varied including old pub favourites but also some very inventive starters and mains, especially the fish and seafood dishes. We have eaten there most Friday lunchtimes recently and have always been delighted with the quality of meal. My wife has enjoyed the moules en cider, crab and lobster while my favourite is the pork medallions in peppercorn source. The chips are twice cooked freshly and everything is made to order from scratch - as it should but not always easy to find these says. Expect to see the chef, Andy, on Masterchef one of these days!Portions are generous and value for money exceptional.The seating area is not huge so visit soon before word spreads and the queues stretch down the Road!
