It is difficult to review this place as I have never found it open. I did ring one time last year to book a table and had to leave a message on their answering service and I am still waiting for a response. I have heard that it serves good food and it did have a lovely open fire and a cosy atmosphere There is plenty of parking. I was once called The Snooty Fox and has had several changes of name is the past few years.

We’re just home from a White Rose Sunday lunch. Fabulous food, and plenty of it. The Yorkshire puds and gravy were amazing, as was the rest of the meal. The children enjoyed their Sunday roasts too. Lovely people, great food and wine. It was such a nice way to spend a Sunday lunchtime. Highly recommended. A hidden gem. Thank you White Rose, well be back again soon.

The food is interesting and varied. There are lots of good choices for vegetarians. The desserts are unbelievably delicious and extremely well presented,as is all the food. There is a relaxed unhurried atmosphere. The staff are all friendly and helpful. We have been on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday lunch. We have been very happy every time. The menu has changed once since we found this lovely pub. I have enjoyed everything. I wonder when it will change again so that I can try something else. I recommend it to everyone.

Four of us had a really good meal here last night and it was such excellent value! The service was good and we were astonished to discover that, on a Wednesday, there was a free pint or glass of wine with the homemade pie & a free glass of sweet wine with the cheese & biscuits! We will definitely be back!

The pub seemed completely dark and desolate when we walked in. Car park unkempt. Half the interior lights were out and staff unwelcoming. We had two roast meals, the meat was very good, vegetables could have been cooked longer, sadly the waitress only seemed to be able to bring one plate out at a time. What has happened this used to be such a lovely pub with efficient welcoming staff. Won't be going back.

We found this Pub by accident at lunch time on Saturday. Although it is fronting onto a road there is a good sized car park. The Food, service and space was amazing. We decided to return for an evening meal and we were not disappointed. The cooking and presentation was really lovely and the host was most polite and friendly. The prices were very good that was most surprising. We will definitely be returning soon.

I had a wonderful meal here with friends. The host Andrea is extremely welcoming, and the bar and restaurant were beautifully decorated. The meal was absolutely excellent, even more amazing was that their chef had been taken seriously ill the day before. The attention to us was discrete but appropriate What a lovely place

Most pleasing to find a pub with the usual pub classics but also a most interesting selection. I had a lovely pea and courgette fritter starter with pesto etc, and a most unusual main course, Asian style seabass with pak choi and mussels. Very, very tasty. The portions were generous. And all for just under £15.Service also excellent.

Popped in for Saturday lunch. Great choice and before 2pm you can get 3 courses for £14. Didn't manage 3 courses as portions so generous. Food was great and all home cooked. Pastry on the steak and ale pie was amazing. Couldn't fault it will be back.

We haven't been here since the refurbishment, but it was very pleasant! The service was quick and professional and we really enjoyed the food. We chose from the cheaper menu and had broccoli and Stilton soup, ( good with lots of Stilton), followed by Steak and Ale pie, the best we have ever eaten - all steak -no waste! This was served with a bucket of large chips, cauliflower, carrots and broccoli, and a large boat of good gravy There was so much we weren't able to finish it all. We will be going back again!

After looking forward to a meal out, I chose The White Rose for a pub meal, with 3 other people. The pub itself was warmed with a real fire, and the beer was ok. I decided to go for an English traditional pie and handcut chips. It was bound to be a hearty meal!

Booked a table for 12 for Christmas Dinner. Nomal starters, Turkey roast and usual deserts with the option of Christmas pudding. Visited in person to pay deposit. Land lady very nice, showed us round and told us we would be in the main lounge with another large party with the music and dancing. On the night, arrived early had a drink at bar whilst our party gathered. We were then sat down in the bar area away from the main music and dance area. I mentioned we were told we were in the main area but was told there was nothing they could do even though we were the first to arrive. The meal was bland, no yorkshire with the roast and although we paid the same as everone else we had no party crackers on the table. When raised this with the staff we were told that they did not buy enough crackers so we didnt get any..... Later as the smaller groups left the main hall we were told that they had cleared a place for us and we could move into tha main area but by know we had had our meal and evening was well what it was so we did not want to go shifting tables and chairs. The outcome is clear there a least 12 of us who will not be returning again.

December 29th. The area where we were seated was cold. Service was slow and frankly the food was average. We found the menu very limited, and out of only 5 desserts on the menu, 2 were 'off '. Basically, felt that we had been overcharged for a less than average experience.

Myself and my husband live at the other end of the village so have only recently found this delightful pub/resturant and have eaten there every week since! The welcome is always warm and friendly. The bar has cosy areas to have a drink. The resturant is also lovely. Food is really well cooked from fish and chips to really gorgeous Sunday roasts. There is another pub within walking distance from our house but isn't a patch on the White Rose. Keep up the great work. See you soon.

Have eaten here twice recently and both were good. First was 5 women on a Thursday evening. Special Thursday deal was pie and glass of wine for £9.95. The lamb and mint pie was superb with loads of meat. Next was 2 couples on a Saturday lunch time. The belly pork special particularly scrummy. There are leather sofas in the bar and padded whicker chairs outside if you just want a drink. Nice place with friendly service to spend time having a delicious meal. We will certainly be going back.

Having driven passed the 'Snooty Fox' on regular occasions, we decided to give it a try and then found out it has changed name to The White Rose. We were met with a very warm welcome and both opted for the 'special' - pie and wine/beer for £9.95. At that price you don't expect much but what a surprise! The food was delicious and worth far more that the price paid. I might also mention that for a very old building it is well kept and immaculately clean.

To be fair the food was good and very competitively price. Some had plates piles, others were less lucky. However, the service was patchy, with three different persons waiting on our table, one who I hope was in training, as she didn't have much of a clue. During the long waits between courses it would have been easy to have welded our hands to the table. Either they need to clean them or, if they do, buy something else to apply to the surface.

I have not been here since it was the Snooty Fox. I was attending a farewell do and the venue lended itself to this perfectly. Great the outdoor seating is still there. The staff were amazing; nothing was too much trouble. I can not drink still wine so I often miss out on a glass on wine however here they had mini bottles of fizz - perfect! The food was pre booked and what I had was lovely. It was laid out really well and looked tempting - buffet style. There wasn't anything to eat if you had a gluten problem but that may not have been down to the White Rose. I can not comment on the value as it was pre booked.

Whilst visiting our family in Little Clacton we enjoyed an excellent meal at The White Rose. My heart sinks when my husband and his brother order a steak but was delighted when they really enjoyed it. I had my favourite fish and chips which was lovely although I did not enjoy the peas, a bit hard for me and I love mushy peas with my fish, would have been nice to have a choice. My sister-in-law had plaice which she said was delicious especially the potatoes salad with it. Our waitress was lovely and very attentive. The atmosphere was great. Would visit again when in Essex.

My son was treated to the steak night by his uncle last week. He went in, not fussed about steak, saying it seemed over-rated for the price. As we all know, steak is often a disappointment when inferior meat or not cooked right. But he came out saying he had changed his mind about steak, and wants to go back there for more! Good job, Chef. I also took my mother for a meal and we loved the atmosphere as well as the meal. Thanks Andrea and staff for the warm friendly welcome
