The White Rose in Swansea

One of the few traditional pubs left in Mumbles and always a pleasure to visit. We've never had a bad meal there and the staff are always so pleasant. However, during the day time there is usually an older clientele who pop in to meet friends and have a chat over a meal and drinks, so is it recommended to play loud, inappropriate background music and sport on the telly while happy customers are trying to have a chat? Surely this can be tempered a little until the evening regulars arrive?

Had the five set meals for just over £20! They were excellent in taste and quantity. So much better than those rip off pretentious places lower down on the sea front! We never go anywhere else when we are in the Mumbles!

A local pub,friendly,good food,reasonably priced

Good atmosphere, food good.Friendly staff. But!. They do not have a clue when pouring Guinness. Having a Bar in Tenerife for many years we we taught by Technician's how to pour Guinness. Not dropping the glass to support when pouring as a lot of the Mixed Gas Is Lost. Basic Skills sadly lost in this Pub.

Been a long time since popped in the White Rose having worked there 20years ago. Only had a drink to watch football. Staff were friendly and service was efficient. Was relatively busy but still able to get a table. Worth visiting.

Since .moving to s.wales...w.rose has been a favourite....music venue...cycling down to mumbles 15 miles....pint & burger & chips...fab

We had their lunch time offer of 2 meals for £10.50. An excellent venue serving very good value meals, the drinks were very reasonably priced as well

Great fish and chips, friendly team really enjoyed!! Have also tried the tapas which are excellent. Can’t wait to try the pizza next time we are in the area. Edit the pizzas are amazing huge and way too much for one person. They will provide boxes on request if needed!!

We went in for a quick drink, found the place unclean, tables full of used glasses and left over food etc. Service from the bar was poor, the staff did not recognize who was next, leaving customers unhappy by serving people who had just come to the bar whilst they had been waiting to be served. This pub used to be the heart and soul of the village, it is now somewhere that caters for students. It's a shame, however, with a little training and getting the staff to recognize that tables need to be cleared and cleaned etc it can bring back that feeling of being welcoming.

I’ve visited this pub often as it’s quite local to me. The service is always consistently high and mistakes are incredibly rare! Switching management companies and menus has meant that my favourite menu item was unfortunately removed, but it’s still amazing food at a reasonable price!

Popped in for a "cool off" from the heat outside. Ordered Pink gin & tonic & Dark rum & coke whilst we cooled off. Drinks not overly expensive, £11 50 for the 2.

Very nice pub. Staff were very friendly. Very reasonably priced. Did not eat there. I would go again.

Had been in during the day for food, then decided to go back for a night cap after food but after standing at the bar for 15mins was told that we are now shut and no more orders this was at 2230 strange as the guide said closes at 2300 but the staff started shut down at 2240

Fantastic meal yet again Stopped off at the white rose on Tuesday afternoon for a few pints Wasn’t intending on having food but saw the meals coming out and had to order Omg was outstanding Mixed grill and 8 oz rump with bbq sauce Food to die for Sat in the beer garden in the sunshine Can life get any better

Friendly staff, a welcome place to rest after walking around the Mumbles.

Lovely lunch. 9 of us went. Most had fish and chips. Great one had sausage and mash great one had Gammon and chips. Gammon more like a slice of thick slice bacon. Of the main menu need to improve that meal. All the rest were great

This pub is one of the best pubs on the mumbles. Lovely food and not too expensive either... Staff where helpful will be comming back

Our favourite pub,good value and food,but what I do not like is the foul unnecessary language.It is not conducive to a relaxing visit.I love the fact there are no dogs allowed.

Recently visited, fine for a drink but the food was very disappointing.

Booked a table for 7, then trying to sit and have a quiet meal for my mothers 70th birthday and they put us right by the TV and speaker the football was on, couldn't hear our selves think never mind talk, food was not the best don't think I will be going back any time soon

Called in on Saturday afternoon pub was so busy Lovely atmosphere we were lucky to find a table Ordered food I had chicken tikka masala omg it was delicious My better half had his usual mixed grill All in all a fab time As Arnie says “We’ll be back “

Our burgers were burned black. I asked for a new burger but this was replaced by one more charred than the last. Literally inedible. Won’t be returning.

Cozy village pub that has been there for ever. Used to be famous for having only one item on the menu - an absolutely outstanding chili. Sadly the chili is no longer available, and the menu these days is standard ho-hum frozen pub fare. Still a good atmosphere - frequent by everyone from the former drummer of Dire Straits to your great grandmother. A village institution. The world would come to an end if it ever shut down.

First time visitors and I must say we where all very impressed. What a lovely pub. Everybodys food was delicious, hot and really tasty. Staff where really nice too. Can't wait to visit again to try more delicious food. Very family friendly pub too

I don't live any near the place but pop in during summer times when up sea fishing,I rate it,Friendly staff, reasonable prices,even better when you catch the offers/ happy hour,good atmosphere,tidy location,all in all,a good all-rounder

Bar staff asked re allergies then laughed when I told him I was allergic to micoprotein.. overall food was 'ok' ping food which is what is general in a chain pub

Great pub with a good mix of locals and visitors. Food is good for a pub 🍻 but you really only go there for the atmosphere and getting together with old friends and maybe meeting some new ones. People and bar staff are friendly.

We called in here for an evening meal after walking past it many times over the years. I'm usually disappointed as a vegetarian, but not on this occasion. We opted for tapas so we could mix meat and non meat dishes to suit us both. The food was delicious and served quickly. The staff are friendly and I would definitely recommend.

Just had a set of fab meals here! Had two burgers and three tapas. All were excellent! Very busy to for a Wednesday lunchtime! Always here when in the area; it's the best!

Second visit in 2 weeks. Service was good, tapas were really tasty and the atmosphere was great. Good came out quickly and was well presented. I can recommend the halloumi and chorizo skewers. Deffo worth a visit.

A pleasant experience, good value, good size portions, and a pleasant atmosphere . No alcohol free wine option , chicken tikka and rice. Gammon egg and chips

Majority of experience was ok but two male members of staff were very scruffily dressed and loud and brash speaking and female and male staff eating behind the bar

What a night out!!! All I can remember was me going to the bar. 10 tequilas pls! Not even 3 min and I was handed a tray full of shots. Thank you guys🫡

Could only give one star as I tried to book a table over the phone and was told a load of bull by a very rude staff member that bookings could not be taken over the phone due to data protection. I dont know if he actually believes that or was just trying to fob me off. Anyway, I have heared that the food is really nice there so if you dont mind the risk of having your identity stolen I would pop in and try it for yourelves.

It was very busy as there was rugby on but all the staff were great, even though they were under a lot of pressure.

Fantastic staff & chef who can cook really well. Best fish & chips in Swansea. Friendly efficient knowledgeable staff behind till, treat you like a valued customer. Worth the longish drive & parking cost.

Went for a family meal, had a fantastic experience, great food and even better service, Georgie on the bar was more than helpful and a great laugh, best experience ever!

Had a really lovely meal and got served by the loveliest bartender named Georgie, always had a smile on her face and recommend some amazing drinks to me! Will be back again!

Pub was great and Oscar was on point with everything - we came from London and he made us all feel welcome! Will be back later in the year for sure.

Called in the white rose on Friday lunchtime for food Pub was really busy but we found a table ordered our food A mega mixed grill for other half I had a rump steak All cooked to perfection As usual We will be back

Love the White Rose but something must be done with the Male member of Staff behind the bar. He looked an absolute mess, wearing a dirty un-ironed 'Swans' Jersey along with scruffy trainers & trousers. Not only that but he also looked like he could have done with a good wash - not a very pleasant sight to be served with. His whole 'can't be bothered' attitude was very unpleasant & he possesses Zero Customer Service Skills. This is not the first time I or numerous friends have had to put up with this. We have even complained to the management about him!

Very poor meals on 13 1 24. Burger stone cold, mixed grill had tough steak/gammon and was cold. Better food in Spoons. Keep away

Been here a thousand times over the years and never had a bad meal, until today 13 1 24. I has the mixed grill, it was cold and the steak was so tough you would have needed laser to cut it; even the gammon was rough. Sent the steak back and the replacement was even tougher! What has happened? Have they changed suppliers or Chef? A bad experience and I think I'll eat elsewhere in future!

Visited the white rose whilst out walking. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and we really enjoyed our food and drinks

On this visit I decided to try an alternative to the Chicken Tika Masala Curry, which I had tried before and enjoyed. I wanted a little non-meat detox and therefore sampled the vegetarian/ vegan Curry on the menu. But, found it most disappointing. It was the same price, but consisted of little more than a few beans in a tasteless bean ‘soup,’ which included no non-meat alternatives. Nothing like the excellent vegetarian/ vegan foods I had enjoyed at other venues, which were also much better value. It’s back to their excellent Fish and Chips next time.

We were in a group of 8 adults celebrating on News Years Day, The food some had steak , others had curry and steak and ale pie and some had deserts , We all thoroughly enjoyed the food , drinks and the inside of the White Rose, The Staff were ever so friendly and helpful, Would highly recommend.

Really bad customer relations, expensive for the area, dirty plates and cutlery and badly prepared food... just a locals pub, abouts at all costs.

Just visited the White Rose and what a warm welcome. Greeted and served by Georgia. Ate off the festive menu which was lovely. Georgia was attentive throughout our meal ensuring we had everything we needed. Will definitely return. Thanks Georgia for making our visit perfect.

This place has become a favourite. Bar staff (Heath and lovely cocktail making woman) are really accommodating and the place is warm, cosy with a great atmosphere and menu choices.
