The White Room in East Devon

An absolutely lovely place for a genteel lunch. We were a party of 9 with our own challenges (small child and aged grandparents). The staff could not have been more accommodating. The food was very good value and a nicely varied menu plus an interesting wine list. Well done!

The evening meal we had in their white room restaurant was excellent quality. We both had a steak and they were delicious. I would like to add that I myself have a dairy intolerance (it won’t kill me but has nasty side effects) and in every place I’ve eaten out in the past, this is always built up into a big deal with a lot of hoo-har and faff that make me feel like a royal pain and causes my husband to get irritated, but here they were amazing! I never once felt like a pain. When we went to dinner they had already prepared the menu with all items containing dairy underlined so that I was fully informed and the chef had prepared a dairy free dessert choice just for me.

The continental style food in The White Room is just as good as the Jubilee but you can be more casual here. They were very accommodation to our 8 month old baby. High chairs are provided by the friendly staff.

After reading the previous reviews we decided to celebrate our anniversary with a meal at the White Room. We had checked the menu beforehand, and we had the dover sole as our target. Well it was a huge disappointment, when the so called filleted fish was presented, it was full of bits of bone and undercooked. We sent it back !! Even though we completed our meal with an alternative dish and lots of platitudes from the front of house waiter( Matt), our silver wedding evening was somewhat tarnished. Even with a few discounts the bill was still £85.... I would suggest that the chef that evening needs to go on a fish filleting and cooking refresher course....

Whenever you are visiting Sidmouth you just have to make the point in visiting this absolutely terrific place!!

we booked in here for a birthday treat for our friend,what a fabulous experience ,the staff are great so attentive ,nothing is too much trouble ,as for the food it is a delight I had calves liver withonion rings and veg ,our friend had a fillet steak, and my wife had the most gorgeous seafood linguine,all in all a lovely meal and good value too, we cant reccommend this place enough.

The White Room is a beautiful stylish restaurant set inside the Victoria Hotel in Sidmouth. We enjoyed a delicious three course leisurely lunch on Saturday and found the atmosphere friendly and welcoming. All our courses were presented beautifully and cooked to perfection. The meal was a total joy and exceptional value. Service was attentive but not intrusive. We cannot fault this dining experience and will recommend this restaurant at every opportunity.

My wife and I took some friends here for a celebration meal of our 40 years of marriage. We were very well looked after. The food, choice and quality, was excellent, the service first rate and the ambience splendid. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.

I have never had a bad meal here and the service is excellent. Of all the hotels to dine in in Sidmouth this would be my preferred option, with for business or pleasure.
