Situated opposite the DH Lawrence Birthplace Museum, we visited after seeing the museum. Named after Lawrence’s first published novel the Cafe is as much of gem as the museum. Warm, welcoming and quirky. The staff are a delight. The menu is extensive and full of good old fashioned British dishes. Excellent meals and superb prices. Has a nostalgic feel of visiting a relative who fed you up with substantial, tasty food when you were a nipper. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough!

Top nosh at very reasonable prices. Popped in to wait out the rain before continuing on our cycle tour. Had a Sunday roast beef followed by Apple pie and custard. Paul works wonders in such a small kitchen. And the waitress/helper was very easy on the eye. Lots of local characters. Enjoyed chatting to Christine. She brought some cheer to a very damp moist day. Enjoy your holiday in Skegness.

A small but very busy cafe/coffee shop serving a large range of freshly prepared meals and snacks. Most customers seemed to be locals who knew each other and were obviously regulars which gives a good indication of the quality and value. In addition to the table service food the cafe also had a quirky range of artifacts available for sale as displayed on the walls and in a glass cabinet as well as some delicious looking home made cakes.

From J Boy of Derby Called in for lunch before the DH Lawrence tour. Not really a tea room but a wonderful place for a great variety of food, breakfasts, lunch, afternoon tea. etc Prices very reasonable, good quality food with large helpings. Staff very friendly. This is very much a local meeting place where everyone seems to know each other. The building is very old as is the DH Lawrence museum opposite so this makes the toilets very inaccessible, they can only be reached by a flight of very steep steps almost impossible for someone with mobility problems. I don't know if there is a disabled toilet.

Found this little gem on a recent weekend break at Eastwood and decided to check out the D.H.Lawrence birthplace Musuem, although we did not have the time to join the tour we look forward to return for a tour in the future. However the coffee shop is directly opposite the Musuem and we were ready for a hot drink.Being located in former cottage the atmosphere was both quaint and quirky. the coffee shop even had a small display erea for the sale of "Brick a Brack" and gifts. After ordering our drinks and cake of which we thought was very good value we were sat with the other customers who were ordering something more substantial from the menu which is typical for the venue and Portions appeared to offer good value for menu prices.Having just read that the current owners only took over this June, all credit to the way they are running the establishment and we will definitely visit again.
