Lovely place good food nice dog friendly staff unfortunately I was taken ill while there have left more on their Facebook page. Hope we will be welcome to call again.

Stopped on the off chance of a late Sunday lunch. The staff were very helpful & efficient & we had a great Sunday lunch.

I stopped here after my car broke down just outside. The pub is absolutely lovely on the inside and very clean. All of the staff were fantastic last night when I was upset after being stranded 150 miles from home! They were all extremely hospitable towards me and kept coming out to check I was okay and offering me a seat inside. Usually when I do the journey from Oxford to North Wales I stop halfway at Telford services. I be sure to make this my halfway stop from now on. I never had any food as I wasn’t sure when I was going to be recovered, but I certainly will be next time as it all looked very nice. I didn’t catch any of their names but to all of you who were there and helped me, thank you so much!

Absolutely incredible place for a pub lunch that we stumbled on whilst on holiday. Dog friendly, simple but excellent food, and the warmest and friendliest service, you can tell they really care! Can’t recommend more.

We stopped in this typically English pub on the way to Wales, a place where you eat excellently, very good meat and also hamburgers with a vegetarian option. The entrecote was really tender, well cooked and accompanied by grilled vegetables. On the ground floor the inevitable billiards and draft beer, all of quality and with a wide choice. Really a nice place, friendly service but they could have described the dishes a little more, still friendly staff. Meal with drinks averages 25 pounds, which for England is a good price considering the quality of the food.

Just moved to Shropshire, eaten here half a dozen times, food always really tasty and hot! Service efficient and quick. Ales in top order.

A cosy pub and food place which warms you up as you enter. We visited in August (after a full day of rain) and were yearning for some hot burgers - the chickpea and the southern chicken burger to our rescue. The staff is extremely polite and warm and as soon as we entered the bartender asked for our drinks and kindly showed us our table. The portion of fries that came with burger was very good too.

We were really impressed by the White Lion. Coming back from Wales we were looking for a place to stop for a coffee and popped in here. Instead, we both ordered a BLT and a beer. Both excellent, but the BLT was what you might see on MasterChef! The atmosphere was excellent, so different from a chain pub and a big step up from the usual free house. And the toilets had paper towels instead of hand dryers! Attention to detail. Wish we were locals.

This is the 3rd time we have visited this place over the last 2 years, while on holiday and it does not disappoint. The food was delicious Its has been a while a pub has impressed us. This one smashed it. Pub was clean and atmosphere was lovely. Staff were also amazing, couldn't help you enough.

I was shocked! White Lion! Didn't say much when we stopped there. But, let me tell you, I was so wrong! I haven't tasted such a tasty food in a long time. That crispy pork belly was to die for. The portion was quite big and let me tell you, I couldn't get enough of it! Just perfect! Everything from cleaned toilets, atmosphere, service, and food was just perfect. I was blown away. Please do go there if you ever have the chance!

Since it reopened a few years back we have been here many times. The food is consistently good. The menu isn't massive but covers all the bases. We have tried most of the regular dishes and never been disappointed. All the main ingredients are sourced locally and cooked to perfection. The setting is a cosy pub, with a larger upstairs dining room. It can get busy, but the service is always efficient and friendly, so if you want to avoid disappointment it may be worth booking ahead. We haven't tried the Sunday lunch yet, so still have that experience to look forward to.

Really lovely place to eat. Staff all friendly and welcoming, food was great with good veggie options and bonus being they are very dog friendly. Was very handy for us that they still served food until 8pm on a Sunday. Bonus points for after eights before we left! Would definitely go back.

What a wonderful pub! We popped in on our way back home from Liverpool to Abercrave and were immediately met by a wonderfully decorated pub. Smiling staff and the pleasant smell of pub food. We ordered our food off the reasonably priced menu. I had the salt and chilli chicken starter, which is served with a side salad (a few wilted pieces). Generous portion. Hubby had the beef burger served with onion rings and fries. Well presented but would have benefited from a pickle and red onion to elevate the flavour of the burger. Overall, very impressed. Thanks

Just stopped off to break up the 3 hour drive from Manchester to Borth . Friendly staff and service from Tom top class. I had the lasagne / homemade fresh salad and massive portion. Good selection of alcohol free for the driver . Will be back 😊Also in ladies lots of helpful things like sanitary towels complimentary and toiletries to use whilst there

Family Sunday lunch at the White Lion. I haven't been here for a while but it was a convenient place to meet as an extended family and the reviews were good so...... Well this is exactly what a country pub should be. Good cooked well, drinks at reason price, with good choice and beers in excellent condition with great service and a friendly atmosphere. I know we will be back as a family and thanks to everyone at the White Lion. Clean plates says it all

Friday lunch at the White Lion was excellent. Two beef briskets, followed by banoffee pie for one of us and waffles with toffee and caramel for the other. Food cooked and prepared beautifully and mains served on hot plates! Well done to Owen for the great service and welcome. Would recommend a visit to anyone.

Called in for a drink: good beer

We stopped here for a cofee break. We were told we will not be given a table if we don't buy food. Inside looked fine. There was a pool table. Toilets were clean. There was ample parking. Edit: Changed the rating from two to one stars considering the attitude of the management from the reply.

Nice to see a proper pub with nice food instead of all these same old same old places. The beers and ciders taste 'well kept', the food is fresh and delicious and the chips are amazing!

Called in for lunch after walking, asked for a table for 4 snd iwhethet they allowed dogs, we had 3. The barman confirmed and we asked what table (we wanted to settle the dogs down) BUT instead of seating us he kept asking what we wanted to drink. It wasn't until I was firm that we needed to be seated first did he indicate a table! This was a shame because the food and drinks were great. We have always had exellent food.

The White Lion is one of those gem of a pub that are now so hard to find. With its friendly atmosphere and superbly cooked food it ticks all the boxes for a amazing evening out. A special thanks to the chef who cooked my steak to perfection

We were working in the area and called in as I’d looked at reviews and they’d seemed good! The food was absolutely beautiful with really good portion sizes! I had 8oz steak and my colleague had the garlic chicken breast! Both were really well cooked and presented. Will be going again tomorrow

Landlord got so drunk he fell onto the bar,spilling drinks and breaking glasses. He had to be dragged up the stairs, losing his trousers and exposing his backside. Not a pleasant experience on a Sunday evening.

We walked here from the canal at Crick Heath, there were two cask ales both really good, and great food. The service was spot on and we had a great time well worth the 20mins walk.

Pleasantly surprised. The decor and atmosphere was top notch, really nicely fitted out. The food was great too, lots of nite at a good price. We don't live locally, so sadly won't be able to go back any time soon.

Lovely atmosphere. Very nice old school background music. Were informed by the staff about food delay, in the end food arrived faster than we expected. Nice design, everything is clean and tidy. Ladies room had some necessary ladies things too. Would highly recommend.

Un bon point restaurant pour une étape rapide. Servi rapidement, et sympathique. Les plats sont simples, vous ne ferez pas de découverte culinaire, mais ça fait le job. L'espace extérieur est pas mal, mais un peu sale.

First visit to this establishment and first impression we had, was that it is a friendly and popular venue. The meal was very good, none of the party of four had any complaints regarding the standard of food presentation, the timely delivery and with all meals really hot. The staff are very polite and helpful, so an enjoyable time was had by all of us. Looking forward to a return visit sometime in the future. PS. The dishes I'd recommend would be the gammon steak it was the best I've had for a long time.

Good evening meal out with friends

Went here for a spot of lunch my husband had a sausage and red onion baguette with fries I had a tuna baguette with fries. There were two sausages on my husbands baguette and when I asked if this could be made better we were told this is the portion for a baguette! It was £8 for two sausages on a crusty roll and a few chips! Not impressed with the portions or the service! Won’t be going again

Visited here by chance last Sunday after passing by on our way home, cannot praise this little gem of a pub enough! The staff were lovely and very friendly, the toilets were spotless and supplied everything a lady would need right down to hair clips and bobbles! The interior of the pub was equally the same! Let's talk about the food! 👌 both myself and my partner decided to have the chicken in leek and Stilton sauce, to say it was delicious is an understatement, the whole meal was gorgeous and plenty of it! The chips were the nicest I've had in a while although I couldn't finish them due to the size of the chicken which I didn't want to leave! What a cracking little pub with lovely staff! I live in wrexham but will definitely call again! 👍😊

We called in for lunch yesterday and the food was amazing! I had the cod, prawn, lemongrass and coconut fishcakes and hubby had the slow cooked smoked brisket. Both were excellent and cooked to perfection

Went for a Sunday dinner today which we booked! Food was amazing and so was the pudding! Staff were amazing even though it was as very hot and muggy. The toilets were spotless and all the stuff they have supplied in the toilets were amazing ideal to freshen yourself up when it's really hot!

My friend and I stop for a quick snack on our way to Hen party and decided the have a proper meal once we saw the menu we could not help ourselves by ordering amazing food. My friend had a burger and I had a Thai green curry. The portion were big and most enjoyable. We told everyone at the Hen party how good the food is.

Had really nice meal here last Wednesday, redecorated, clean tidy really friendly staff, great food and one of the best pints I've had in a while.
