Cosy, confortable and relaxing atmosphere in a beautiful historic building within walking distance of the railway station. The staff were very welcoming and attentive with a smile, and went the extra mile to make our visit as pleasant as possible. Would highly recommend!

We prebooked out table and the team were very welcoming. The reason we booked because on line it stated they did gluten free . When ordering food they really had no gluten free only lamb kebab. They said they had no gluten free pasta and other dishes were unavailable.

Great hotel & restaurant. Staff are very friendly. Would definitely stop here again.

A great experience with some friends celebrating a birthday. The place is set in what looks like a old converted church building which gives a unique atmosphere. The staff were friendly and attentive. A good selection of food, which catered for all the dietary requirements for our group. Tasty food and great customer service. Prices are reasonable. Definitely worth another visit.

St Nicholas Hotel is only a 4 min walk from train station .what a magnificent building .Well recommend. Anybody to try it out defo be well pleased .

Last night I had an amazing time with friends at St Nicholas. The place is very welcoming, with tasty food and warm service ! We ordered a lot of food, for a convenient price as well. You can enjoy a nice atmosphere so make sure to go amd show some love to the hard working people behind this business 😉

A great warm welcome from the staff on arrival. Lovely room with the little extras that make a good stay, refrigerator, excellent tea tray and complementary water in fridge. Had a lovely evening meal and cocktails in the restaurant and a great breakfast before our journey home. Staff polite and helpful, atmosphere and food on Saturday night was great. Would definitely visit again.

We ate at this venue on Saturday 28th December in a group of 6 adults. We had booked a table for 1PM and we had no waiting time and were shown to our table. The staff were very friendly, food was ordered and although there was approx a 1 hour wait for food they could not apologise enough, to be honest the place was rammed and it was expected. We all ordered different meals and when the food came it was amazing, best meal we have had for a very long time and excellent value. I would not have any issue going back here.

I had the pollo pasta it was so bland no seasoning at all just tasteless also had steak fries and the meat was all gristle all in all 2/10

What a fabulous experience. Went for lunch as a party of 3 adults. Great menu with lots of choice. We opted for Greek mezze starters and they were absolutely amazing. As were all of our main courses. We were too full to sample a dessert. Whilst the food was exceptional the staff were equally so; all were attentive, friendly and professional. Great atmosphere with a 'buzz' in the air; happy diners! Started to get quite busy as we were leaving; clearly a popular venue for very good reason. Oh - did I mention the price; great value all round. Keep up the good work team. We will be back 💕

Family run business. Pleased with the service, the owner was very attentive and kind. There is no reception so check in is just at the bar but there were no issues and we didn’t have to wait long. The room was spacious and clean with a range of complimentary hot and soft drinks. Overall pleased with the stay!

Called here for lunch while Christmas Shopping and would highly recommend. Generous portions and food cooked to perfection. Reasonably priced and staff created a nice atmosphere.

There was a party of us and o ordered a BBQ 12" Pizza. They first sent me the wrong pizza and then finally the so called BBQ pizza arrived. There was hardly any filling on it and the crust was way too thick. There was slices of Pepperoni and tiny small pieces of chicken with cheese. It not what I call a BBQ pizza! Save your time and money and go elsewhere as there are far better places to have a pizza.

A very nice spot for coffee and tea. A good choice of tea and batista coffee was delicious. Warm ambience but a little on the dark side.

We had our babies gender reveal at St Nicholas and the staff went above and beyond to ensure everything went smoothly - from Aidan who originally set up our booking and another gentleman (apologies I don’t know the name of) who did a fantastic job on the day ensuring we had everything we needed to make sure it was a special day. The food was delicious and received high praise from all of our party! Will definitely be booking again for any future occasions, thanks again guys!!

Went to watch the shireish rovers , great band and thoroughly enjoyed the music and the friendly atmosphere.

We spent a couple of nights here, the hotel is lovely and unique, the rooms are clean and comfy. Breakfast was really really good! Service is great, all the staff are so friendly and helpful. The location is perfect but as it is an old building and therefore not double glazed you will hear traffic / people noise if you’re in a front facing room, but this didn’t bother us - we loved our stay.

A real lifesaver as we trekked across (a miniscule part of) Shrewsbury hunting a meal.

Like?? What's not to LOVE! Easy to find with a wonderful welcome! The food is fabulous, the drinks are delicious, the staff are stupendous and the rooms are remarkable! We had a wonderful one night stay here and wish we'd booked for longer, unfortunately they were fully booked for the second night we wanted (we were looking for a room from our very comfortable bed). Don't get caught out, if you want more than one night, book ASAP! We cannot fault the location, staff or facilities and we can't wait to return!

Seven of us dined at St Nicholas Bar and Grill yesterday and we were all very impressed. The food was extremely good and the service was amazing. Most of us ordered the turkish chicken skewers, not only were they cooked to perfection and full of flavour, the portion sizes were also generous. We couldn't fault our experience and we will be returning again very soon. Highly recommend.

Discovered this place this September (2024) and been back twice since and will definitely be going back. Absolutely top notch, amazing, quality grub 👌🏻👏🏻, with very friendly service. Can't recommend enough

Wow, We stopped here for brunch before Prison Tour. Welcomed as we arrived. The biggest Sausage & 2 Eggs Ciabetta Roll Ive ever had. I struggled to finish Others Had huge Bacon & Mushrooms Rolls too. Piping hot & good quality Sausages & Bacon

Great roast , only tweak needed is a couple more florets of broccoli & cauli . A nice touch would be extra purchase options of cauli cheese & extra gravy etc

We stayed overnight and had the best time. Staff were amazing the room was so comfortable and over looked the church. The food was absolutely amazing massive portions. The calzone is huge! We will definitely be back,we loved it so much thank you all xx

would have given 5 🌟 but to whoever dished up our beef roast obviously didn't read my request to have no gravy in our Yorkshire pudding so was soggy as. But except for that the beef was beautiful and so was the veg and roasts.

Could find no fault with this place. The food was excellent, the service even better. Also, the response to "Do you allow dogs?" was "We prefer them to people."

Lovely lunch - a friendly welcome & plenty of choice of food and drinks for all tastes. My children are both autistic so eating out can sometimes be a challenge, but they loved their meal & chilled atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back when next in Shrewsbury & have recommended to friends too.

I found this place online while looking for somewhere to eat at that side of town after visiting the old prison. A great find & we’ll be back for sure. We had a lovely lunch here with my 2 children. Both of my children have ASD and are quite particular, but their freshly made pizza & fries went down well. A varied menu with something for everyone and a good choice of drinks too. The welcome and service was friendly and attentive.

Am currently staying here. It is wonderful. Leanne and Ryan are excellent hosts. Our room is just amazing. Clean, immaculate and wonderfully decorated. Water is hot, bed is very comfy. Food tonight was outstanding, had the Mezze. In fact, so good we have booked another nights stay. Fabulous views with original church windows.

Nice little quirky hotel , very friendly staff great location and a cracking breakfast . Bar prices good , 2 pints less than a tenner . Only the resident friendly ghost in room 301 woke us up a couple of times during the night 🙄

we had 2 really tasty roast dinners - though it would be great if the gravy came in a pot, the Yorkshire pudding was pretty soggy by the time it arrived. Other than that it was really nice

What a lovely place, we had just visited the castle and as we were walking by we noticed they did Sunday lunch and pizzas. We was welcomed straight away by the staff, they were fantastic. I had a beef dinner, it was lovely and the veg so fresh. My partner and daughter had a pizza each, they throughly enjoyed it too. We will definitely be back next time we visit Shrewsbury. We'll done team.x

Stumbled across here because every other restaurant in Shrewsbury seem to be fully booked. Was happily surprised to find they where serving authentic Turkish food. I had the lamb skewer which was beautifully charcoal grilled. Generous amounts of meat perfectly cooked medium. For dessert I had Churros which where freshly cooked and again was a very generous portion. I'll definitely come again next time I'm in the area

Great food and service. Sunday lunch.

Service started out really well. Friendly and attentive and made bespoke mocktails. Unfortunately after our mains the service went downhill substantially. We waited about 10 mins to grab a waiter's attention to ask for dessert menus, and then another waiter cleared our dirty plates over 20 minutes later, by this point those who had wanted dessert no longer wanted it and we paid and left. Such a shame as the food was good and very good value for money. It was also very cold in the restaurant and many of us mentioned being cold where we sat. I would return in the hope that the service was a one off blip, and maybe in summer!

After sitting at our table, we were ignored for 20 minutes. I went and found menus and then eventually managed to flag someone down to take our order for food and drinks. They weren't very busy and could clearly see us, so I'm not sure why it took so long. I asked about an item on the menu as I have a dairy intolerance. The waitress checked with the chef and told me that the item I wanted was indeed dairy free. This was clearly not true as I have been ill all night. I know that not all dishes will be suitable for me, but it is upsetting when I have asked the right questions and still end up feeling ill. If I had been told that the dish I wanted was unsuitable and advised to order something different, I would have done that happily. Steer clear if you like going to restaurants where they actually want to take your order and where they take dietary requirements seriously!

First visit to Shrewsbury, we searched for a quirky place to eat and an old church came up, lovely building, great food and lovely friendly staff, would definitely recommend.

I know I asked for my gravy separate but I didn't receive any at all, so disappointing 😕

Really enjoyed our meal for family celebration. Staff were very welcoming and attentive, felt genuine and I sensed they enjoyed their jobs Food quality was beyond what I was expecting, excellent, tasty.. neither really do it justice. Portion size was fantastic too making it an excellent value meal out. I would have tried the puddings too, but other guests had already been filled up. Will be back. May need to consider disabled access Choices were either steep staircase or walking down a cobbled alley.

An excellent, quirky venue with great food! We had the 6 Mezze plate offer with a bottle of Rose wine. The dishes were cooked beautifully and there was a real range of flavours. Great wine as well! Would reccomend for good priced food in Shrewsbury!

Friendly helpful service excellent, considering how busy it was great food

Been here twice lately, the first was for breakfast with my sister and mum. We had the full English breakfast and it was lovely with great service and a lovely atmosphere. I then returned with my partner and we absolutely loved our food. We had the sharer tapas, kebab skewers and cheesecake to finish with. Beautiful food and we had cocktails which were lovely too. Highly recommend eating here, very reasonably priced too.

I chose this venue randomly via Google, as I'd never been to Shrewsbury before and was meeting friends, who were in the UK on holiday, for lunch. I wanted somewhere we could easily navigate to, near the castle. We could not have picked a better place to catch up. Friendly staff, with excellent and speedy service. The menu was varied and pricing very reasonable, with a great selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The coffee was good, too. We all agreed the food was wonderful. The space was light and airy, quiet and not overcrowded. I'm autistic and sometimes feel uncomfortable in public places, but I felt totally relaxed and would certainly eat there again.
