St Nicholas Shrewsbury in Shropshire

Like?? What's not to LOVE! Easy to find with a wonderful welcome! The food is fabulous, the drinks are delicious, the staff are stupendous and the rooms are remarkable! We had a wonderful one night stay here and wish we'd booked for longer, unfortunately they were fully booked for the second night we wanted (we were looking for a room from our very comfortable bed). Don't get caught out, if you want more than one night, book ASAP! We cannot fault the location, staff or facilities and we can't wait to return!

Great roast , only tweak needed is a couple more florets of broccoli & cauli . A nice touch would be extra purchase options of cauli cheese & extra gravy etc

We stayed overnight and had the best time. Staff were amazing the room was so comfortable and over looked the church. The food was absolutely amazing massive portions. The calzone is huge! We will definitely be back,we loved it so much thank you all xx

would have given 5 🌟 but to whoever dished up our beef roast obviously didn't read my request to have no gravy in our Yorkshire pudding so was soggy as. But except for that the beef was beautiful and so was the veg and roasts.

Could find no fault with this place. The food was excellent, the service even better. Also, the response to "Do you allow dogs?" was "We prefer them to people."

A short notice meal for 19 family members! The food was great, service great. My grandson had to wait a little longer for his ice cream so got an extra scoop!! Result, he was delighted! Highly recommend 👌

Generous portion . I had the Turkish Lamb skewer. , it was cooked to perfection . I recommend this place . The staff were very friendly . Enjoyed the choice of music.

Lovely lunch - a friendly welcome & plenty of choice of food and drinks for all tastes. My children are both autistic so eating out can sometimes be a challenge, but they loved their meal & chilled atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back when next in Shrewsbury & have recommended to friends too.

I found this place online while looking for somewhere to eat at that side of town after visiting the old prison. A great find & we’ll be back for sure. We had a lovely lunch here with my 2 children. Both of my children have ASD and are quite particular, but their freshly made pizza & fries went down well. A varied menu with something for everyone and a good choice of drinks too. The welcome and service was friendly and attentive.

We had lunch here as a large group of family and friends after visiting the prison. Brilliant friendly service and the food was delicious and good value. We popped back in for coffee after a wander around town.

Delicious Sunday Roast. St Nicholas have never let us down, been having them since lockdown and never had a bad one. The beef the veg delicious, and the gravy is Mmmmmm!!!

Am currently staying here. It is wonderful. Leanne and Ryan are excellent hosts. Our room is just amazing. Clean, immaculate and wonderfully decorated. Water is hot, bed is very comfy. Food tonight was outstanding, had the Mezze. In fact, so good we have booked another nights stay. Fabulous views with original church windows.

Nice little quirky hotel , very friendly staff great location and a cracking breakfast . Bar prices good , 2 pints less than a tenner . Only the resident friendly ghost in room 301 woke us up a couple of times during the night 🙄

Went in on a whim, food is excellent. Had the St.Nicholas Burger and it was one of the biggest & best I've had. Outstanding.

Absolutely brilliant service, lovely tapas to eat, and cold beer yo drink. Friendly staff, and an all round enjoyable place to spend the afternoon.

Called in for something to eat and definitely wasn’t disappointed… chose the pizza and it was all fresh ingredients and cooked perfectly. Definitely the best pizza I have ever eaten. Well done you guys👍🏻

Excellent Food and Service! We came for a date night and the food was lovely along with the atmosphere and the staff, thank you for making our evening lovely. I had the halloumi burger and my partner had the St Nicholas burger and we highly recommend.

We had a lovely evening. A few drinks in comfy chairs followed by great food. Be warned portions wre large.

What a lovely place, we had just visited the castle and as we were walking by we noticed they did Sunday lunch and pizzas. We was welcomed straight away by the staff, they were fantastic. I had a beef dinner, it was lovely and the veg so fresh. My partner and daughter had a pizza each, they throughly enjoyed it too. We will definitely be back next time we visit Shrewsbury. We'll done team.x

we had 2 really tasty roast dinners - though it would be great if the gravy came in a pot, the Yorkshire pudding was pretty soggy by the time it arrived. Other than that it was really nice

Stumbled across here because every other restaurant in Shrewsbury seem to be fully booked. Was happily surprised to find they where serving authentic Turkish food. I had the lamb skewer which was beautifully charcoal grilled. Generous amounts of meat perfectly cooked medium. For dessert I had Churros which where freshly cooked and again was a very generous portion. I'll definitely come again next time I'm in the area

Great food and service. Sunday lunch.

After sitting at our table, we were ignored for 20 minutes. I went and found menus and then eventually managed to flag someone down to take our order for food and drinks. They weren't very busy and could clearly see us, so I'm not sure why it took so long. I asked about an item on the menu as I have a dairy intolerance. The waitress checked with the chef and told me that the item I wanted was indeed dairy free. This was clearly not true as I have been ill all night. I know that not all dishes will be suitable for me, but it is upsetting when I have asked the right questions and still end up feeling ill. If I had been told that the dish I wanted was unsuitable and advised to order something different, I would have done that happily. Steer clear if you like going to restaurants where they actually want to take your order and where they take dietary requirements seriously!

Service started out really well. Friendly and attentive and made bespoke mocktails. Unfortunately after our mains the service went downhill substantially. We waited about 10 mins to grab a waiter's attention to ask for dessert menus, and then another waiter cleared our dirty plates over 20 minutes later, by this point those who had wanted dessert no longer wanted it and we paid and left. Such a shame as the food was good and very good value for money. It was also very cold in the restaurant and many of us mentioned being cold where we sat. I would return in the hope that the service was a one off blip, and maybe in summer!

First visit to Shrewsbury, we searched for a quirky place to eat and an old church came up, lovely building, great food and lovely friendly staff, would definitely recommend.

I know I asked for my gravy separate but I didn't receive any at all, so disappointing 😕

Really enjoyed our meal for family celebration. Staff were very welcoming and attentive, felt genuine and I sensed they enjoyed their jobs Food quality was beyond what I was expecting, excellent, tasty.. neither really do it justice. Portion size was fantastic too making it an excellent value meal out. I would have tried the puddings too, but other guests had already been filled up. Will be back. May need to consider disabled access Choices were either steep staircase or walking down a cobbled alley.

An excellent, quirky venue with great food! We had the 6 Mezze plate offer with a bottle of Rose wine. The dishes were cooked beautifully and there was a real range of flavours. Great wine as well! Would reccomend for good priced food in Shrewsbury!

Had a beef dinner it was really good. Also had the biscoff cheesecake it was amazing. Would definitely recommend St Nicholas.

Absolutely loved this place. We had Mezze, of which there was a large selection. All dishes were perfect. Service was really friendly, atmosphere great. I will definitely go back. Walked past hundreds of times and never realised the gem within. Thank you.

Friendly helpful service excellent, considering how busy it was great food

Been here twice lately, the first was for breakfast with my sister and mum. We had the full English breakfast and it was lovely with great service and a lovely atmosphere. I then returned with my partner and we absolutely loved our food. We had the sharer tapas, kebab skewers and cheesecake to finish with. Beautiful food and we had cocktails which were lovely too. Highly recommend eating here, very reasonably priced too.

Met a friend, spent the afternoon, was a friendly and comfortable atmosphere. Reasonably priced food and drinks. Would definitely revisit if in area again. Had chicken and pepperoni BBQ pizza and fries.

I chose this venue randomly via Google, as I'd never been to Shrewsbury before and was meeting friends, who were in the UK on holiday, for lunch. I wanted somewhere we could easily navigate to, near the castle. We could not have picked a better place to catch up. Friendly staff, with excellent and speedy service. The menu was varied and pricing very reasonable, with a great selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The coffee was good, too. We all agreed the food was wonderful. The space was light and airy, quiet and not overcrowded. I'm autistic and sometimes feel uncomfortable in public places, but I felt totally relaxed and would certainly eat there again.

Had good ones in the past but today was shocking, took 30 minutes after they said it’s on the way to arrive so I knew it was going to be cold, and it was … veg way under cooked very disappointing

We we're lucky enough to find this when needing a bite to eat with limited time. Honestly the best Burger I've had in a very long time. It was cooked to perfection and the ingredients so fresh! I will be coming back here 100%

Possibly the worst excuse of a roast dinner I’ve ever seen. Meat totally overcooked,Veg and potatoes cooked on a radiator all served in a soppy Yorkshire pudding in a puddle of water/gravy. My 6 year could serve up something better. Might as well of put £40 in the bin.

Great food with a great atmosphere in a lovely location. However, our last two takeaways have taken over 90 minutes to arrive, twice the amount it says it should be via food delivery apps. Waiting times should be adjusted to manage expectations a bit better, I don’t mind waiting but perhaps if the waiting times were correct I would’ve ordered earlier on.

A really warm welcome and a nice place to relax and enjoy a meal and a drink. We had a burger and beer deal for £10 each. Both food and beer were great. We had the halloumi burger with fries, which was delicious. The staff were absolutely lovely. Would highly recommend.

We ate here on a Friday evening and took advantage of a very good deal with mezze and wine. Food was absolutely gorgeous. Service was good. Very reasonable in terms of price. We loved it so much we are now sitting here waiting for lunch, too!

Went in on a Sunday during their roast and pizza day, I had a pizza, and my wife had a roast. Both were really good. Service was very friendly and quick although we were the only ones eating at the time 😅 The vibes were great though and prices are decent for the quality of food.

Went on a Thursday evening in August. A very different sort of place but we loved it. Food was really good and the portions are very generous. It deserves to be busier than it was on that night. I would suggest they promote it more outside to encourage more diners. Its a few yards from the Castle entrance

This restaurant is close to to train station, its location meant we ate there for lunch when we arrived to the town and it was so good that it was our choice on our departing day as a fabulous early evening meal before catching the train home. It is within a converted church/chapel and the atmosphere and decor is fabulous, relaxed boutique style. On both occasions the staff were friendly and welcoming and our visit was relaxed and vey enjoyable. We had the mezze on both occasions, delicious and plentiful, with a few sides added to our order also. I have to say the the burgers. and wraps that our fellow diners ordered looked delicious and huge!. The food is delicious, excellent value for money and the staff wonderful. We will definitely visit again.

This is really some fantastic experience. When it comes to the staff. This is the future where a welcome gets You smiling. Then the food. The main part of any course naturally is the meat. Its juicy, favours so perfect. Remember. When catering. You can add, but cannot take away. Which is why the taste really gets You smiling. Set and done. So. Staff. Food. A true future for catering as a experience to keep returning for.

Brilliant bar & restaurant for food, service and atmosphere! Aiden was our host and he was excellent, very attentive and couldn't do enough for us. He was very patient with our 1 year old and went above and beyond to keep her entertained and happy during our family meal, he really is a credit to the place. Highly recommend the mezze and chicken kebab. Thanks again to Aiden and the rest of the staff.

We had a family lunch at St Nicholas today and it was fantastic. The service was amazing, the food was wonderful with such huge plates (luckily they had takeaway boxes for us to take some away!). Amazing experience and we will be back (all 14 of us!)

Toilet isn't great bit small. Nice bar area. Thought drinks bit expensive.

After a late order the week prior, staff member Aiden told us if we ordered again next week he would give us 50% off if we asked to speak with him next week. Fast forward 7 days we as a family were discussing what to order when Aiden very kindly went out of his way to remind us we had 50% off this week. Upon order he promised us it would be on time and it wasn’t only on time m, but a few minutes early! Thank you Aiden for you excellent service!

1 slice of meat, a soggy Yorkshire, gravy was like water and rock hard veg. Wouldn’t recommend!
