Lost its way since being taken over. Unclear from menu what food was a starter or main. Clarified with the waitress. Ordered salami & cornichons to start. One salami arrived with the main which was a burger. This was then taken back when we queired why the main had arrived. The salami was placed between us so we assumed the 2 orders had been combined as one. However after a little while the second starter was brought out. The starter was literally a wadge of salami dumped on a plate. No bread, butter or attempt at presentation. A fresh lime soda was ordered. A lemon and lime cordial was served. Waitresses were pleasant but service chaotic and appeared as if they would rather be anywhere but there. The main was a burger and literally just a burger with plastic cheese on a small side plate. No side salad, no chips. These had to be ordered separately but not made clear on the menu. The lamb hogget was small but tasty. Booked over a week prior to visit advising gluten free requirement due to coeliac disease. The menu came out with hand written ticks to show what was gluten free. I was told I could have the burger without the bun. That's not good enough when you've known about the booking for over a week. Should be able to supply gluten free bread.

Awesome for a beer by the river after a hike but also lovely for dinner. Not a large menu but amazing food every time I've been there. They also grow most of their veggies/herbs and it's all organic. The chicken pie is amazing and had loads of nice chicken in it. My partner always gets the sausages and loves it. Lovely staff. Take dogs :)

I would like to say something positive but it is very hard after our experience with the food. It wasn't awful or good.. but the prices were rather extortionate for what you get. You have to pay extra for your potatoes or chip's etc to go with the main! The burger comes with a cheap cheese slice nothing else. .we paid seventeen pounds for mutton pie not a potato in sight. .Wasn't was worth it. So very disappointed in the overall experience. Also when paying be mindful they also add the tip which is ten pounds. You do get a chance to decline but not if you just tap your card.

The Bridges has been something of an institution over decades in south Shropshire, so in more recent years it has been disappointing to see its fall from previous standards. The very good news is that the Bridges, under its recent owners, has been greatly improved and is probably now better than it has ever been. A brief visit for lunch while walking was a very pleasant experience indeed, with good, reasonably priced, bar meals; an excellent range of real ales; very attentive and friendly staff; and a rear garden area which is superb on a sunny day. Great to see the pub back in safe hands and delivering a great customer experience.

A brilliant pub perfectly situated at the end of a really good walk to the Stiperstones. We started off the evening sitting out in the sun by the river, where we met Phil, an engaging, entertaining and enthusiastic local. Was very disappointed with the meals I’m afraid. It was expensive for what you received. And then having to pay extra for chips or potatoes. I had ham, was expecting a decent portion for price it was small and a bit dry. Sauce wasn’t up to much. Still hungry. Sister had mutton pie. She said it needed some extra flavours to complement the mutton. Other sister had a burger as nothing else took her fancy as menu was small. £12 for burger and a cheap cheese slice, would have been better with real cheese. It was just like any other burger she said. So although the pub was lovely and very picturesque. Beautiful setting. Staff very pleasant. Food really let it down

We love going to the Bridges pub as it’s surrounded by nature, and our kids can play in the little stream in front of the building. I love their interior and exterior, the food is lovely, and they have natural wine, which is a bonus. We go there often, and this time we went for my mother-in-law’s birthday. The staff is usually friendly and nice, but I was served by a lady at the bar who I had never seen before, and she was rude for no reason, making me feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable. I ordered a lot of drinks and just tried to make sure I ordered the correct drinks. She found it somehow offensive, looked annoyed, and said, “This is not my first day.” There was no need for that. She kept giving me this passive-aggressive attitude every time I went to the bar. Her excuse was that she had just started her shift, so she was all over the place, which is not a good excuse to treat customers poorly. Just for the record, I was very polite and respectful towards her. I had no idea what her problem was (maybe she’s a bit of a racist? I don’t know, but I got this impression as she had no problem with other British customers), but this definitely made me think less of the place, which is very sad.

A party of 6 visited this pub since it's been taken over and what a disappointment, we didn't know what the dishes were on the menu! It was more for fine dining , as a country pub they should have pub grub! There was no steak or gammon! No lasagne ! We settled for the burger and some had the pie , and one had the sausages , all said the food was very good but they were the only dishes we knew what they are, I'm sure if they change the menu to proper pub grub they would be a lot busier , and the staff didn't know what they were doing , very slow service, drinks served in the wrong glasses , gin in a half glass, wine in a tiny glass etc, although the food we had was very good we shall not be returning

Beautiful place, amazing setting, great vibe. It has transformed a great deal since I renovated the place for the 3 Tuns brewery and ran it 15 years ago… Popped in for lunch today as we travel around the county every weekend sampling different roast dinners, and the verdict was unfortunately less than impressed. The cut of beef was far too pink, gristly, difficult to cut, under portioned and the plate in general, overpriced. The Bridges is and always has been a great destination pub full of charm and character and should focus on a hearty and mid range priced bill of fare.

Recently spent the weekend in the area to see The Endings playing at The Bridges. I arrived early and met up with a couple of acquaintances. I had eaten earlier but the couple ordered beef burgers off, I believe, the recently introduced bar menu. They said they were excellent and looking around as we sat outside, I noticed many others eating items from the ‘new’ menu The evening itself was excellent, the band were on fire and obviously were enjoying playing in a packed friendly environment. The bar staff led by Clare were fabulous keeping up with the demand for the superb range of drinks on offer including Wye Valley’s HPA and 1985 lager I hope events like this will become a regular feature at The Bridges

I was looking for a convenient location to meet with friends who live in South Shropshire and The Bridges seemed an ideal location. I tried to research the menu on line prior to going but assumed only the lunchtime menu was listed, as the food appeared be more of a ‘lite bite’ type menu and the selection of food was somewhat unusual and a little limited - however this turned out to be the only menu and the same food appears to be served both daytime and evening. I was hoping for some honesty pub food that was done well but the menu is trying to be ‘arty’ and unusual but more for effect than for any obvious reason. Despite asking the waitress if the steak pie was a conventional full pastry case or just a pastry top on a casserole dish & being reassured it was a full pastry version, I ended up with the half casserole dish version. Despite being awkward to eat, it was tasty. The dessert menu is also ‘trying to hard’ and the desserts are expensive - I had the Bakewell Tart which turned out to be a modest slice of what looked like a pre bought catering tart with a dollop of clotted cream. It was extremely average and not worth the £8 price tag. The staff were pleasant and the restaurant is clean but there was nothing about our visit or the food that would encourage me to return.

First time we’ve eaten here since the new ownership. The place looks good and it’s clearly had some money spent on it. Selection of beers was good. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and generally attentive before our food. Food-wise, the starters were very impressive indeed including shrimp kohlrabi and an aged beef dish with pickled squash which was really flavoursome, outstanding. Mains were a more mixed experience, venison dishes were well regarded by our party for flavour, but unsure of the pairing with bread. The pie was unfortunately overcooked and very challenging to remove the thin and hard pastry from the edge of the dish, most of the contents were good too but had to remove some parts from the beef, it also lacked any sides which meant veg and potatoes with a pie would have been over £25; for that kind of money a pie needs to take you to heaven, and involve zero challenges to eat. Other contrasting experiences were noted in sides; the chips were lovely, yet the mac and cheese was so mild it tasted of plain béchamel. Overall, we enjoyed our meals and certainly left full. I think there’s some real promise of really quite special food here, the appetite for some adventurous dishes and flavours is clearly in the menu, and quite different to other offerings, but I think the mains need some attention, thought and polish. A few minor things like serving spoons for sides and condiments (salt/pepper) would also make the experience better. We’re looking forward to the next visit and seeing what’s on offer.

Food and service were excellent, someone has obviously been at work in the cellar as the ales were all in good order. The beef carpaccio was insanely good. One small criticism - staff standing around looking at their phones when people are waiting to be served isn't a good look. Phones should be in the staffroom when on duty. Lovely location in rural Shropshire, situated right next to the river Onny (stream). A very popular walking route passes right by and it's also a very popular place for day visitors, particularly during summer months. Unfortunately the pub has changed considerably in the last few years to one that only appears to cater for a more niche clientele (food menu) and one that doesn't seem to be able to keep it's beers (real ales) very well too at times. The menu doesn't cater very well either for walkers, young families or occasional day visitors any more. I feel the pub is effectively alienating certain groups of visitors and missing a huge potential to increase it's revenue. Previously the pub used to serve a more traditional mains menu and also provided some lighter traditional lunch options more suited to walkers and young families. I used to frequent the Bridges regularly for years always stopping for a pint and often for a bite to eat, whilst on walks as well as when staying at one of the local campsites and also on day trips. As a member of a few walking groups we used to always stop for a bite and a pint on our travels and used to program our stop as part of planned walks. My experience over the last few years has been pretty poor to be honest and it definitely doesn't feel welcoming like it once did, which is a real shame as it used to be a very warm welcoming pub with a really nice atmosphere. We rarely use the pub any more as the food doesn't provide many viable options when walking and also we have had some bad experiences with some of the real ales (cloudy/off). We mainly use the pubs in Stretton now for our mid/post walk refreshments mainly due to the changes in the last few years at the Bridges. Such a shame as it previously was by far my favourite pub.

Really, really disappointed. The inn has been done up to a high standard which is great. However, no food whatsoever available to anyone who has not booked. As a local, once community pub this is very sad to see. There may be issues recruiting chefs but would it really be that hard to offer cobs and bowls of chips? After all, this is what walkers, cyclists and locals are probably looking for. Surely even a waitress could do this? There were 4 of them folding napkins when we were there. What a shame. Very very disappointing meal. Home cured ham- extremely dry, over- cooked hunks of meat, not enough sauce. We ordered 3 bowls of vegetables, they brought salad instead. We eventually received 3 bowls of steamed leaves. I had to ask for a steak knife but still had difficulty cutting the ham which was tasteless anyway. I left 2/3 of it. I asked waitress for doggy bag to take it home for dog but asked her to show it to chef first. She came back and said they would not charge me for it. Panna cotta pudding ok. I gave the foil packet back as I left, it was not even good enough for my dog.

Poor menu, odd selection. F'ing and blinding language of customers failed to enhance the experience. Should keep the building site language on the building site.

Beautiful setting, incredible food, friendly staff, will make the day trip from London just for the burger. We had the potato soup, BBQ quail, Welsh rarebit, peach salad, chicken salad, burger, and chili con carne. Every dish was amazing. Thank you!

Nice old place, with cozy eating areas and some nice outdoor seating both in the back and out front. Nice location with parking across the street, but can see that getting full when it's busy. We had lunch there (a burger, a lamb pie with some sides), but one thing to note is the menu was quite limited, but was tasty & fresh. All items on the menu came separately (i.e. the pie in a dish on a side plate, then the potatoes and greens both in 2 small dishes) which when not unusual for sides to come separately, the main dish (the pie) being on a small plate too meant you were unable to add the sides onto one plate to eat it together. Maybe next time, I'll ask for a normal dinner plate so I can combine the meal.

Popped in for a quiet pint after refueling in Church Stretton, the staff were very friendly and approachable and assisted in a request, without hesitation. The building is unique and very clean inside whilst maintaining the traditional appearance of the Building, plenty of car parking adjacent to the pub, can't wait to return to sample the food and enjoy the scenery.
