The Bridges Pub in Shropshire

Stopped here as our halfway stop doing The Long Mynd walk. Lovely pub, brilliant food and good beer selection! Good place to refuel if you’re doing this particular walk.

Went here twice recently while we were in the area and service/ambience very good both times. Had a lovely lunch here, excellent vibe and good value for money Highly recommend!

Just had a coronation chicken ciabba and it was bloody lush.,

This is a lovely pub next to a river with outdoor seating front and back. Very nice in and out with good drinks. The food is very delicious and we are hard to please. I would however like to see prices on my menu but there isn’t any. It’s also not to clear what is mains and starters as the herders was removed.

Fairly regular visitor here who stopped coming after a very bad experience with the previous manager. Very happy to see that there are now experienced grownups in charge! Food and service were excellent, someone has obviously been at work in the cellar as the ales were all in good order. The beef carpaccio was insanely good. One small criticism - staff standing around looking at their phones when people are waiting to be served isn't a good look. Phones should be in the staffroom when on duty. Well done to the owners/management, you seem to have turned it around.

Fab dog-friendly pub full of character in great location with fab food and ales. Always a treat to visit when at Farmer Phil's Festival!

Excellent food and service in a picturesque country setting. Nice selection of ales and ciders and ideally located for walkers coming over The Long Mynd. Will definitely return in future.

After a beautiful walk we stopped here for lunch and what a treat it was. The chicken broth with kale dumplings was absolutely exceptional, the best I have ever tasted. It was so good I went back and asked for a takeaway of it which they happily arranged for me 😋😋😁 Will definitely go back and recommend to others. 5 stars, wonderful place.

Lovely location in rural Shropshire, situated right next to the river Onny (stream). A very popular walking route passes right by and it's also a very popular place for day visitors, particularly during summer months. Unfortunately the pub has changed considerably in the last few years to one that only appears to cater for a more niche clientele (food menu) and one that doesn't seem to be able to keep it's beers (real ales) very well too at times. The menu doesn't cater very well either for walkers, young families or occasional day visitors any more. I feel the pub is effectively alienating certain groups of visitors and missing a huge potential to increase it's revenue. Previously the pub used to serve a more traditional mains menu and also provided some lighter traditional lunch options more suited to walkers and young families. I used to frequent the Bridges regularly for years always stopping for a pint and often for a bite to eat, whilst on walks as well as when staying at one of the local campsites and also on day trips. As a member of a few walking groups we used to always stop for a bite and a pint on our travels and used to program our stop as part of planned walks. My experience over the last few years has been pretty poor to be honest and it definitely doesn't feel welcoming like it once did, which is a real shame as it used to be a very warm welcoming pub with a really nice atmosphere. We rarely use the pub any more as the food doesn't provide many viable options when walking and also we have had some bad experiences with some of the real ales (cloudy/off). We mainly use the pubs in Stretton now for our mid/post walk refreshments mainly due to the changes in the last few years at the Bridges. Such a shame as it previously was by far my favourite pub.

Came here after a walk over the Stiperstones with the lads. Great pub and staff! We could have done with sandwiches at lunchtime as we had a long walk back and didn't want a full meal though and it was frustrating that the burger doesn't come with chips but otherwise would highly reccomend this place to anyone! The place was clean, we didn't have to wait long for our food and the beer was well kept and well priced.

Lovely traditional country inn set in the rolling hills of Shropshire. Good, tasty informal food and a great selection of well kept cask ales. Dogs are welcomed inside.

Amazing place! The food is sourced locally and every item on the menu is 10/10. Very cosy post renovation, great atmosphere and friendly service. Will definitely come back!

Lovely pub in idyllic setting on the banks of a stream. Remote but busy with walkers and people looking for a good draught pint (three tuns xxx) and a good meal from an interesting menu. A pub which is well worth a visit.

Lovely quiet pub in an idyllic setting by the river. Beer and food are exceptional and somewhat unexpected for such for an out of the way pub. Attentive staff and a genuine old pub feel. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Group of adults and kids had supper here after a long day walking. Great selection of beers, fantastic menu and great service. No specific kid’s menu but the staff helped with which options would be best and were happy to accommodate requests.

Love it. This was our second trip and it's been sympathetically renovated since our first visit. A lovely garden with stream running through and wonderful views of the surrounding hills and fields. Food and service were great.

Absolutely gorgeous lunch during a long walk. Welcome with muddy boots! The food was totally delicious and the range of veggie options is extensive. Roaring fire and a pint of Rosie's Pig too. I didn't want to leave!

Food was delicious and I had was amazed at how reasonably it was priced considering it's all local produce with a constantly changing seasonal menu. Staff were lovely and the recent refit has really improved the atmosphere. I'll be back soon for sure

Love it ❤️! We have been coming to this pub for 7 years and the new renovations and menus are great. Love the fresh new menu! The soups are absolutely 😋 tasty. The chicken pie 😋 a fav, even the Egg Sandwich 😋. The burger 🍔 ❤️ . Don't just stop here just for a pint or tea, enjoy the fresh and delicious menu. We do 😊

I wouldn't recommend unless a local to the pub. Not a welcoming friendly atmosphere young girls waitresses are rude more interested in congregating and laughing in the kitchen while surroundings are lovely would not recommend toasted sandwiches grease dripped out of them

Pop in here whenever I'm that way. Seen how the pub has improved over the last year. Great new layout. Addicted to sitting out the front and listening to the river flowing by. Great staff and good drinks.

Served by the most lovely young lady. So polite and friendly. Everyone very pleasant. Menu is small but everything is freshly prepared. Very nice atmosphere. We opted for the vegetarian choices. Food well thought out. I had a splendid view!

Went last Friday 5.30 the place was very full.Limited menu but food and service highly recommended We left two hours later and the place was still busy .Very pretty Area to .We will definitely be back .

We always pay a visit here when we are at the nearby music festival and it never disappoints. Good ales to choose from and in a lovely setting. The buildings have had some extensive work recently but it is still very much a welcoming country pub. Lovely staff and the chef really knows his onions !

Friendly service, although took a while to get food. Beers and wine good, food little greasy, with little choice . Good value for money .

Really, really disappointed. The inn has been done up to a high standard which is great. However, no food whatsoever available to anyone who has not booked. As a local, once community pub this is very sad to see. There may be issues recruiting chefs but would it really be that hard to offer cobs and bowls of chips? After all, this is what walkers, cyclists and locals are probably looking for. Surely even a waitress could do this? There were 4 of them folding napkins when we were there. What a shame. Stiperstones Inn, here we come!!!

Best pub food I've had in a long, long time, much of it locally sourced, and very reasonably priced. Idyllic location, lovely ambience and great staff. And an excellent selection of local beers and ciders. What's not to like.

Delicious burger, chili and CORNBREAD. Crisp lagers and lovely staff.

Very very disappointing meal. Home cured ham- extremely dry, over- cooked hunks of meat, not enough sauce. We ordered 3 bowls of vegetables, they brought salad instead. We eventually received 3 bowls of steamed leaves. I had to ask for a steak knife but still had difficulty cutting the ham which was tasteless anyway. I left 2/3 of it. I asked waitress for doggy bag to take it home for dog but asked her to show it to chef first. She came back and said they would not charge me for it. Panna cotta pudding ok. I gave the foil packet back as I left, it was not even good enough for my dog.

I though places like this this had slipped from our country's grasp. But delighted to report , we had lunch at a spectacularly high quality , reasonably priced pub serving ace food. Lunch off the menu , all fresh and served in court yard . Staff bubbly and fun.. and delightfully engaged. Customer facing experience offered by a "savy" group of people..

Poor menu, odd selection. F'ing and blinding language of customers failed to enhance the experience. Should keep the building site language on the building site.

Beautiful setting, incredible food, friendly staff, will make the day trip from London just for the burger. We had the potato soup, BBQ quail, Welsh rarebit, peach salad, chicken salad, burger, and chili con carne. Every dish was amazing. Thank you!

Nice old place, with cozy eating areas and some nice outdoor seating both in the back and out front. Nice location with parking across the street, but can see that getting full when it's busy. We had lunch there (a burger, a lamb pie with some sides), but one thing to note is the menu was quite limited, but was tasty & fresh. All items on the menu came separately (i.e. the pie in a dish on a side plate, then the potatoes and greens both in 2 small dishes) which when not unusual for sides to come separately, the main dish (the pie) being on a small plate too meant you were unable to add the sides onto one plate to eat it together. Maybe next time, I'll ask for a normal dinner plate so I can combine the meal.

Lovely friendly staff, even held the door open for me to exit to beer garden with my drinks. Clean facilities and well stocked. Good choice of ales and lagers, at reasonable competitive prices. Cant say much more except we really enjoyed our visit.

A real gem in the wilderness. Proper real beer and excellent and original food. My only complaint is that I wish it was nearer! I would be a local for sure.

Great pub to stop for a drink, only 30 minutes from our campsite.small menu but good food and service, beautiful rear garden.

Nipped in for a coffee. Sat outside as it was a nice day. Shame about the smokers and vaping outside near the pub entrance.

This was very disappointing. It started first when we tried to order a bottle of wine. We could only order wine by the glass from a box. We asked why we could bot order a bottle of wine and were told it was not available. Then we saw the waitress opening a bottle of wine and she said that the wine was boing used because the box wine was finished and box wine only lasts a week so they couldn’t serve bottled wine until the box wine was finished. Never have I heard a more idiotic argument. You have to drink box wine, or carafe and if neither are available you get to drink bottled wine??? The chicken pie was dry with a bit of chicken at the bottom then the top half of the ramekin was empty with a dry overcooked crust on top. The roast beef was good but the potatoes could have been used as a lethal weapon, inedible. Sadly staff did not take on any constructive criticism. The table next to us complained as well. I think they need to get a capable manager and chef to get this pub operating! I don’t drink box wine and in a pub that’s not all that should be on offer. It’s a pity because it’s a very pretty location, but a long way to go before I would return.

Surpassed our expectations. All the staff were lovely and the food was fantastic (I can recommend the burger). Good value for the quality of food. A nice walk from our accommodation to the pub, on a footpath alongside a stream. Just what we needed after a hard charity bike ride. Perfect!

It was quiet when we went in there but the staff made us feel very welcome. The seats could do with some cushions to make it a little more comfortable, but I know the place is being done up, so maybe that's on the cards anyway. This is a dog friendly place in a nice location.

Remote, quiet and characterful pub deep in the countryside. A perfect spot to stop off at during a sunny Shropshire road trip! Visited recently with my wife and had a lovely lunch. Recommended.

I went on a two hour walk across the Shropshire Hills and ended up at the bridges. I can’t even begin to describe how jealous I am of the locals for having this pub. It’s incredibly rare to have such amazing food away from London. It’s in a really beautiful location, and it has such a cosy atmosphere with the fire, burning and the warmth on a cold day. I had the lamb for Sunday roast and it was pretty awesome. My friends had a whole selection of things which I tried from haddock soup to beet salad. I tried pretty much everything and I have to say there wasn’t a single dish that I didn’t think was superb. I’m planning on going back there as soon as I can

We took a friend for Sunday roast dinner. Ordered lamb and when it arrived we were told there was no mint sauce. Asked for redcurrant sauce but none of that either. We noticed after eating our meal that the next table was offered a green sauce which contained mint, but this was not offered to us. All the meals were served with what was described as a "jus" and when we asked for gravy we were told that was the gravy. It was very runny and tasted like vegetable water. We mentioned all this to 2 members of staff, but they were disinterested and offered no recompense. A very disappointing experience

The cider was off, and the hummus and beetroot lunch had no beetroot and was overly plain. To cap it all I was double charged. I phoned for a refund and the Pub never rang me back. Avoid!

Hunting and shooting pub. Big picture of Otis Ferry on the wall which tells you a lot, Then later the place filled up with entitled men in country clothes bringing guns inside the pub who completely monopolized the bar despite having been given a room to themselves. One of them blocked our car in with his Range Rover and was very rude when we politely asked if he could move and let us out. Our food was alright enough but expensive for what it was and was not up to the other gushing reviews. The beers we tried were not very nice and a lot more expensive than other places nearby. But my goodness from bottom to top the staff need training or changing from the pottymouth barperson to the rude and passive/aggressive young lady who is apparently the manager. I know we are struggling for staff in hospitality in Britain at the. moment but these really are the bottom of the barrel. There is lots of buillding works going on here at the moment and I can only hope the owners have deep pockets as they are not getting a return on their investment if they carry on like this. I certainly won't be coming back ant time soon

What a wonderful pub, full of character, attentive staff and delicious food. A great experience and an unbeatable reward for climbing up the Stiperstones.

What an unexpected treat. Halfway round a long family walk we stumbled on this fantastic pub. Far outweighed our expectations. Warm fire, local beers, great food and a lovely atmosphere!!!

The Bridges is the most fantastic pub on so many levels. The location itself is stunning, we had arrived in a party of 20 of family and friends for lunch, from walking in the hills nearby. The staff of The Bridges could not have been more friendly or accommodating to the needs of us all, whether it was taking the multiple orders of drinks to serving out our delicious lunches of cheese burgers and chips or hot steaming pies with buttered greens. As said, we were a large mass of people of multiple ages and a few dogs too and the friendly helpful staff really made the whole experience an absolute pleasure.

Great food and superb beers. A very friendly pub ideal to use as a base for exploring the Long Mynd and Stiperstones area. Large free car park and dog friendly. Update Dec 23 - now refurbished and extended, and just as good.

Gorgeous pub setting. Fantastic well thought about pub food. If you’re walking in the Striperstones area this pub is a must! Also Dog friendly.

Another visit to this great pub. I was told there was a new chef so thought I would come again as it love this pub! The food was imaginative and most certainly different from the usual pub grub. We started by receiving complimentary (home made) sour dough and the most amazing butter, a great start! I then had the crab and fennel starter which was light and beautiful! My friend had the fried partridge. I then had roast chicken and vegetables (which they grow themselves at a local garden) Overall the food was stunning , a 100% must visit for anyone that is a foodie and appreciates, fresh and imagine cooking! I will return time and time and again! Keep it up and ignore the the miserable same old reviews from people wanting microwaved meals cooked on mass to please the masses! The beer selection is equally great! I love the contrast of the traditional local pub blended with delicious and inspiring food!

Came for an evening drink on Monday. We sat on a table by the fire and it was so cosy and warm. The pub is lovely and has board games there which for me is always a big plus! We didn't try the food but I'm sure it would have been good. Would happily return. There is a car park too which has decent space!

Very disappointed, seafood was salty, cold and small portion for a main £17, roast dinner was also very small and burnt,we ordered 3 parfitarols they came out nothing like it...one pastry base with ice cream in the middle and a pastry top of which was rock hard and the sauce was burnt,had to send them back. Staff were lovely and helpful but food very dissatisfied would we return NO

Beautiful place been a couple of times .very disappointed with the food today . Portions very small . Over cooked😕

Very disappointing. 11 meals and only one was any good. Food poorly cooked, teribbly seasoned and equally poorly presented. One in particular looked like a plate of cat sick. Never asked about our food by the waitress and afterwards after highlighting the issues we were still asked to pay in full. This used to be a fantastic country pub and restaurant but now I wouldn’t recommend to anyone. ☹️🤢☹️🤢☹️🤢

Simply one of the best locations for a country pub.. plenty of outdoor seating. Stream for children & dogs! Great choice of food. Lots of walks nearby. Car park gets busy. But go for a walk, return a little later usually find a space. Weekends very busy.

A range of real ales on tap. A good base for local walks. It was the annual conker competition. Trip down memory lane for us adults. Great for children and families alike. 🙂

A lovely pub 🍻 in a great location. I imagine it is popular with ramblers/walkers, great pit stop for some fantastic homemade food off a very good menu. I had the parsnip soup and toasted bread and it was very good. The pub itself was clean, good access for all abilities and lots of indoor and outdoor (if the weather was better) seating. I can't wait to pop in again soon 🤩🎄

The pub is lovely however the food was not very good. I had pork. A very small edible but.. mostly fat! The veg was literally half a cabbage raw not worth the money at all. The crackling was nice. There was no gravy . My partner had the pie. He said it tasted nice. But looked messy. He had no spuds or gravy.. he also half a cabbage.. it all looked very amateur. I shared my potatoes with him.. the pie was £10.. for just that! If I went again I wouldn't have a meal.. there were sausage rolls on the bar I would have one of those and just a drink. The beer gardens look lovely and the pub is quirky. If they had a better chef and had quicker service it would be an improvement.

Fantastic food. None of the usual ready meals warmed up in the oven. Everything cooked to order and well presented. We have loved it everytime here and can't wait to be back.

Simple corner pub but just perfect to wet your whistle

Nestled away in the serendipity of idyllic pre wales country landscape. You will discover a Babbling Brooke. And an ancient looking farmers Pub. The Old beams and smell of real ale are the perfect backdrop for a TOP quality experience. The menu is modest traditional English fair using hyper local ingredients and service is exceptional! Stayed in the area, and ended up here everyday, the environment is amazing with friendly, talkative punters and staff, reasonable prices for food and drink and a beautiful location, perfect for walkers bike riders etc. the local ciders were a highlight, paired with a well curated menu which one can tell the chefs really care about, will be coming back next time we're in the area.

Fantastic spot, a real hidden gem. Despite being busy, the food and service was top draw, plus fine local asked on tap too. Will definitely be back!

Lovely setting for a drink, but found the staff extremely unfriendly and unwelcoming and the food was terrible, the menu is very limited and my lunch was just swimming in grease.
