Cracking Sunday Roast. Beef was cooked to perfection along with freshly cooked vegetables. Staff friendly and menu reasonably priced. Best place locally for a Sunday roast.

Stopped by as a group member was unwell, the place wasn't even open but took us in and made drinks and a simple snack to get them up and running

Stopped here for a Sunday Roast.. what can I say...absolutely yummy... food cooked to perfection and the puddings .. well my partner was in heaven with the Baileys tiramasiu ... definitely recommend. One of the best Sunday Dinners we've had. Thank you..

The White Lion is one of those little gems you find in a small village of Harleston and not far from Tamworth. I've been coming here for a cheeky beer for a few months as it's not far from home, and this time, we booked for Sunday lunchthe following week. We booked for the bar area due to Tess, our dog, being with us. The staff taking our details were so understanding and very helpful we felt at ease even before the weekend of our lunch. We arrived for our lunch and again the staff were so helpful and attentive to our visit. It was such a sunny day, so we sat outside near the car park where there were a few benches on a grassed area which is quite nice and is a plus because the pub and restaurant is built on a corner of a junction in the village. There were 3 meats on the menu, which we decided on roast beef, which came on a hot plate with Yorkshire pudding. The beef 2 large slices were pink and perfectly cooked, and the taste of the beef just on its own was just perfect. The vegetables came separately and a large boat of gravey, which was also very rich and a tasty compliment to the perfectly cooked roast potatoes, roasted parsnips, carrots, cabbage, peas and the smoothest mash potatoes. Now I've eaten many Sunday lunches around Staffordshire and have enjoyed many of them, but The White Lion, every mouthful, was just amazing. Then came the desert.... well, I think at this point, if you're reading this, please try a Sunday lunch for yourselves and then try and decide on a sweet, you'll want to try them all. My reviews are not usually this long, but I wanted to get across that every part of our lunch was fantastic and that you need to book and you definitely will not be disappointed with the service or the food. Thank you to all the staff, including the chef who prepared and cooked such a delicious experience.

Amazing Sunday lunch beef was tender and tasty veg Yorkshire and potatoes were amazing all finished off with homemade strawberry cheesecake and raspberry shortcake. Staff were very helpful and friendly Would definitely come again and are going to recommend to our friends

Proper home cooked food, no nonsense local grown/acquired produce and a good pint.

We eat here regularly on Saturdays and thought we would try a Sunday lunch. As always the food was excellent and really enjoyed it. Will certainly book a Sunday lunch again

Please don't go to this pub as its hard enough to book as it is. We have been going for about 10 years and never had a bad meal I'm booking again soon and want a table

What a fantastic Xmas lunch today. Food was delicious and hot. Timings were perfect and all the STAFFwere absolute brilliant from start to finish. So glad we were able to bring mum who has been in hospital. She ate so much for her and loved it. It will be memories that we will treasure. Thank you all. Absolutely amazing meal! You do have to wait a little while, but trust me, it's completely worth it. We had the Sunday lunch, and it was one of the best I've had in a long long time.

Sunday dinner here is fantastic. We live 2hrs away and I'd say it's still the best. I'd recommend the beef. Amazingly tender, cooked to perfection, never had a bad bit of beef here. Plenty of veg, nothing under or over cooked. Catered for gluten free too. Puddings are brilliant too. All homemade, all excellent.

Lovely, friendly country pub with a small bar, warm fire and restaurant area. This dog friendly pub offers proper homely food each day and amazing roast dinners on a Sunday. Portion size is on the hearty side so bring your appetite to ensure your get to enjoy their home made puddings. Can't wait until our next visit.

Today we went for Sunday lunch after a friend recommended it to me a few weeks ago. We were a table of 8 adults and three children. We ordered three courses. Between us I imagine we had everything on the Sunday lunch menu. I had the Lamb. Wow. It was absolutely delicious, you could tell everything was homemade and cooked fresh to order. Vegetables were fresh, roasties were the best I've ever had and the lamb was out of this world. I didn't taste anyone else's but it was a very quiet table for about ten mins whilst we ate. Out comes the pudding board and there were so many to choose from. I asked the lady who said they were all homemade and said she had tasted the biscoff brownie this morning. It comes warm and is gooey. I was sold. It was honestly a taste sensation. There wasn't one plate with food on at the end of our meal. Staff were lovely, really friendly and it was like a little home from home. I don't normally write reviews but I could not let this one go. If you're wondering if you should book or not, let this be the review that sends you there as you won't regret it. Thank you to all that served us today and put up with what must have been a very loud table. We will 100% be back again ❤

This is an amazing pub, the first pub meal we had following lifting of lockdown, and it was fantastic, outdoor seating in the sunshine, amazing Sunday lunch, the staff were lovely and attentive, the portions were so generous! Full Sunday lunch, choice of meat, roast veg, greens, and a pudding, all for £14 a head!

Food and service was top notch!

First class food at very reasonable prices. Thoroughly enjoyed my venison, whilst my samples of the other dishes told me that the steak pie and the grilled swordfish would have been great menu choices too. Everything freshly cooked and piping hot with generous portions, indeed perhaps too generous. The pub is nicely decorated with attentive staff and comfortable seating. There are two reasons for me not making it a 5 star review and both won't matter for many people. Of the normal draught beers they sell, the best one, Tribute was unavailable. The Pedigree and Black Bull are not a patch on Cornwallis finest. The other is the time for the food to arrive. Without us having had a starter to share it would have been too long. It makes for a nice relaxing evening, but could spoil your night out. We noticed they were advertising for kitchen staff so perhaps that explains it. Having said that, when the food arrived the time put into making it shone through in the quality. Having discovered it thanks to a neighbour's recommendation, we'll be back!

Truly amazing little find We tend to go at least once a year as we atrend an event close by that's on all day so book a table for at least six people to enjoy a nice meal at the end of the day Food is always very good with a great choice and is always served pipping hot It's not a huge place but your not cramped for space but do advise booking as it is very popular Good selection of wine and good beer not a huge selection but what is on offer is keepted well and we are always made very welcome by everyone Well run and with very nice staff that are happy to help

Exceptional service & very welcoming staff from as soon as we walked through the door til when we left. We could not fault the food, tasty and homemade, but we we're too full to be tempted by a pudding. Great sized portions of food at a reasonable price! We were spoiled for choice with the menu selection and we will definitely be back to work our way through it! Highly recommended !!

This is a gem of a place. Its light and cozy. A wide variety of foods on the menu even a specials menu. We were stumped for choice. Good size portions throughout. My fiance had the sword fish and garlic buttered prawns cooked to perfection and i had fillet medalions in pepper sauce it was wonderful & melted in the mouth. Unfortunatley no room for puds. They have a lovely way of welcoming you and letting u choose your food before they take you through to sit and eat. Wonderful place wonderful food we will be back. Thankyou 👌
