The Nelson Inn in Lichfield

We have only just started to use the Nelson again, but now it's the only place we book for family meals in Burntwood! The food is exceptional and we have always had excellent service even during peak times with large guest numbers! We had Christmas dinner here in December too which was delicious!

Food was ok, some came out a bit dry and overcooked tho. Atmosphere was nice lovely pub, clean and welcoming. Staff were very friendly, but service incredibly slow - our 6 year old was starving and very grumpy by the time it actually arrived - luckily food sorted it fair quickly.

Good food choices from the main menu and a special menu with three courses for £23 , the main course alone if you choose the steak was £18 from the main menu We ate from the main menu and it didn't disappoint

Very nice afternoon lunch, nice staff and polite staff. The food we ordered was very nice. Prices of their menu are reasonable. The premises are clean and they have a lovely decor. There is a nice beer garden with a play area for children.

The staff and food was amazing. I had cheesecake for dessert which was very good. The other 3 guests with me were also very impressed.

After living in Lichfield for almost 3 years, we just discovered this pub. Amazing food, all cooked fresh. Nice selection of drinks, and very reasonable prices. Little goldmine for food and atmosphere

First time visit, and won't be the last. Service was really good the team very friendly/welcoming and accommodating. 😊 Attended for a friend's birthday although didn't book as a birthday booking. But they still made his birthday meal special. Food was fresh and tasty and portions were a good size. 😊

Very nice place. Service was great. Drinks were fine. Lovely warm fire going in the bar. I wouldn't be in a rush to go back for the food, nothing particularly wrong with it, just not for me. Overall a nice little country pub.

Sadly since changing the butcher the meat is quite tough

Visited today with my wheelchair bound mom and my husband. We had the festive menu which was beautiful. We will definitely be back. A big shout out to Mia she was so friendly and helpful. Thank you.

Having to wait for 1 hour before food came

We were a party of 4 on a very busy Saturday evening. The restaurant seemed to be at full capacity. Hence, service was extended otherwise food quality was good but will ensure we avoid such busy times in future.

Fantastic evening for all four of us. Nice warm and light dining room with a good atmosphere. Friendly helpful staff and the food was some of the best we have had in a long time. Not cheap but not over priced at all. Would definitely recommend eating here.

Just want to say thank you to the lovely staff at The Nelson, they accommodated my mother in law with her special requests and even put candles on the birthday cake I'd provided because I had forgotten! The food was great too, we all had a really lovely evening 😊

Bit out of the way but definitely worth the trip

Refound the pub after many years of no visiting, Visited twice in a week and both times, service was great and so was the food. I won't leave it as long again.

Everything was great the staff are very pleasant and helpful and the food was absolutely delicious. The portions were large, so after a starter and main, we couldn't fit anymore in. My two friends were so impressed that they are planning their next visit. I would highly recommend a try, you won't be disappointed.

Always really lovely food at the Nelson - a go to for a special occasion or a treat!

Great ingredients cooked well. The restaurant was full on a Saturday evening and all the food coming out of the kitchen looked wonderful. The service was attentive and we worked our way through three courses in 90 mins. The fillet steak was cooked beautifully. The atmosphere was bustling and the only slight negative is that you can hear music from the bar area a little. We would highly recommend and will be returning soon.

I go to the nelson often and cant complain about the exellent food,I went with my family on sunday 8th sept and had sunday roast for the first and last time,food was barely warm had to ask twice for mint sauce and vedges came late and not with the roast dinner,by the time i had finished i was eating cold food,why oh why didnt i ask them to microwave roast for 1 minute,

Perfect country pub, very friendly with great staff, comfortable surroundings, and a large beer garden, which is perfect in the summer. Definitely recommend this pub for a drink or a meal. It's rare that you will be disappointed.

Fabulous Sunday lunch in the restaurant to celebrate a family birthday. Staff are courteous and friendly and the food was delicious. Everything is served at a leisurely pace so you don't feel rushed. As we walked back to the car park (ample parking) we could see that the beer garden was very busy. The atmosphere here is just wonderful. It is one of our favourite places to eat!

We called on the off-chance on a Tuesday night, that there would be a table available. We were lucky, although the dining room was really busy they found us a table. The clientele was mainly diners who had been before - obviously happy. The staff were really lovely, very helpful and knowledgeable about my dietary needs. (Coeliac - gluten free). I was very impressed with the unequalled choice of gluten free sweets and a designated menu. Prices were on a par with most places nowadays but there was a range of prices on the menu. We booked again to take some friends.

A great place to go, service was bang on, and the food was amazing. I would recommend it to anyone. Plus, it's a good little play area in the beer garden.

Had a warm welcome and shown to our table. Had starters and main and when they arrived they were hot and tasted delicious. Probably one of the best meals I've had out for a while. Decent prices and good size portions of great tasting food. Will most definitely be going back again.

Nice place. It seemed popular and was busy when we visited. The food was great. My steak was well cooked, they weren't afraid to cook it nicely rare. Personally, I could have lived without the dance music in the dining room.

Really lovely place for food and atmosphere

We can not complain about the meal or service it was both needing a 10*.. I've been several times and I can't wait to go again. I booked it for my husband to come with me for our 20th wedding anniversary. Unfortunately this is the only complaint I have, my husband complained to me about the disgusting filthy state of the men's toilets.. How shabby and dirty they were. I must say the ladies ones weren't that bad.. Maked up as a 4*=men's & 6*= ladies. We still had a beautiful evening... And will go again definitely.. Can't wait to book for Christmas 🎄🎉

We held my nan’s Wake at the Nelson yesterday and can’t recommend enough! They were so attentive and caring - the food was incredible and the drinks came quick. A beautiful place with amazing staff; everyone was so welcoming and it really helped the day flow nicely

A really nice experience in a real English pub where the food was good and the service first class. The restaurant's specialty was that it had a large green area where children could play soccer or do other pleasant outdoor activities. Very good atmosphere all the time.

There is plenty of parking. Didn't have to wait for the table. Advise you either ring up or book online thought. The food was exceptional. Plenty of it. Maybe not traditional e.g prawn cocktails you would normally get a rose Marie sauce. Not here.

Great country garden, family friendly, lovely atmosphere, nice staff and delicious food. Only downside was we had to wait a long time for our food to arrive, but other than that no complaints and I’ll definitely return.

Lovely friendly place and a great Sunday dinner. It was a little difficult to attract staff attention, but everyone was very friendly and service was quick.

Absolutely gorgeous food and lovely staff but there were only a few tables in and it took quite a long time to get our meals. We were seated at 7:45 and ordered, and meals didn't arrive until 8:45.

Busy Sunday, side dishes didn't arrive and veg for 3 adults arrived in a tiny bowl, other tables had a large bowl to share. We presumed we would get a further 2 tiny bowls for the remaining adults..but no. Mentioned it to the waitress who just said sorry about that. £79.80 Bill, you expect better.

We have been to The Nelson quite a few times now and the food there is really good. We've had quite a few different things from there, but I haven't got pictures of everything.. here's some I do have and at the end are some other things we've had from there. If you're after a nice lunch/dinner out at a cute country pub with a good atmosphere & yummy food, then this is definitely one to try! Food is delicious, they do lovely cocktails, service is good & not too expensive either 👌 The Sunday roast is also delicious 🤤 There is a separate bar to the restaurant which has a good choice of drinks and the beer garden is lovely in the summer, which also has a play area for the kids! Plenty of on-site parking here too, just be careful coming down the narrow lanes to get here.

Visited with a group of friends. Had the Christmas menu 3 courses £30 no disappointment there..Ham & pea terrine, rib of beef and assorted veg, beef fell apart. followed by cheesecake..All absolutely delicious will certainly be returning..
