They had the rugby on the TV (good) but it was so loud I couldn't hear my dinning partner speak so we left without finishing our meals (bad)

I call in fairly infrequently, and have not eaten there as yet, the food provided by an on-site van. The staff are very friendly and helpful, there is a good range of beers and lagers at reasonable prices, and a nice friendly atmosphere. I recommend a visit.

Lovely pub. Has a great outdoor space with a big canopy, so always loads of shade if sunny or loads of room to stay dry if raining. Loads to drink options. Cold river cider is a nice change.

Very nice the “new” look of the pub. Good choice of drinks, with normal prices and also, lovely covered back garden. I love to go and make memories.

Refuelling stop on journey from Dover to Yorkshire. Very welcoming staff, but limited menu, don't know if it's always this way but only had "pie and mash" of various fillings. That said, the food was of a very good quality, if a little expensive (but that could be the Yorkshire person in me 🤣) and served freshly prepared. Good ambiance to the place, would recommend 👌 ****

Mark and his team are very welcoming, family and dog friendly with a great reputation which attracts a high calibre of food trucks. On days that there are no food trucks they have pies available to purchase.

Nice looking pub, real fire, big tent outside . Only food on offer was pies, 4 of us ordered them. They arrived after a bit of a wait for all of us to find they were frozen inside! They took them away apologised, said new person not good with microwave. Took about 35 mins for new ones to arrive. These ones were good.

The new look white lion is just what sawston needed, a place with good beers and a good vibe. Spacious outdoor area with food trucks on some nights, local craft beer and hand pulled pints on tap and a bar billiards table. Brings life to a village that sorely needed it. Worth a visit even if you're just passing through to the village.

I can also vouch for the exceptionally warm welcome and overall hospitality of the landlord. This is a good pub if you're a drinker and tired of local Green King pubs' Iimited ale offerings as this is a free house. The guv'nor had 2 decent ales and an excellent mild on cask and an IPA on keg. Furniture is functional and basic, not a place for interior designers or diners but great if you want to sample some proper beers in good nick. Mum had a ginger beer and it was a grown-up Fever Tree brand. Tasty. The owner seems to have a keen personal interest in his customers and his beers. Priorities which too many pubs seem to overlook these days.

After finding myself booked into a hotel in the middle of absolutely nowhere, I ventured out a few miles and came across The White Lion. Had somewhere to park, the staff and landlord were friendly and helpful, the drinks were reasonable in price. Pool table area to the side of the bar lounge area along with a dart board. Warm, comfortable, quick service, and even had a chat with the landlord about the local area.

Called in for a quick pint while waiting for a takeaway from the curry restaurant nearby. Choice of 3 or 4 ales. Quite busy for a village pub on a Thursday night, they had a quiz night just about to start. Nice atmosphere.

Reluctant to write a review as we wanted to keep this bistro a secret. The bistro really is good value for money. We go for the Sunday Roast every couple of weeks and it never disappoints. well cooked and presented. Lovely peaceful eating area. A special shout out to the staff, really helpful. If visiting use the park and ride car park and follow the path to the Hospice.

Always enjoy visiting here for something to eat and drink, usually breakfast items such as a bacon and egg roll, scrambled eggs on toast. Food quality is always very good, and I think the staff there are excellent. Polite, friendly and always very helpful. Visit about two or three times a month. We have bought plants, bags of peat or compost, and I like the collection of greeting cards for sale. Always good to spend the money accumulated on the Loyalty card.

Sunday lunch. Loads of well cooked veg and tender meat. Only criticism was the vast amount of thick (bland) gravy poured over the entire meal. Would have preferred a gravy boat so could choose how much gravy to have. Unfortunately the gravy dominated all the other flavours - other wise would have been a delicious Sunday Roast. At £20 a head I would have expected delicious (non-generic) gravy that compliments the meal. Sticky toffee pudding was to die for ! Lots of warm sticky toffee sauce and a light and delicious sponge , and some lovely vanilla ice cream ! Staff were lovely , service quick and efficient. Lovely ambience. Minor tweak with the gravy recipe / and a gravy boat and would have been top marks !
