Great fish and chips, best in the area for me .

Very disappointing. The fish and chips were just about edible but really fatty. The batter on the fish was by far the worst I’ve ever seen and after trying a small amount the only thing I could be is bin it. Definitely won’t be back

EDIT- 2/3 poor visits now. Customer service is just non existent so if you like your food with a smile, then don't come here. Served old leathery chips that were very dark in colour. No welcome or acknowledgement when we walked in. The servers hands were dirty.

I really liked it. Thought the fish was very good.

Gone downhill. Chips tonight were stone cold and pretty much inedible, fish is often greasy (due to the oil not being hot enough most likely) and the food is overpriced at nearly 4 quid for some chips. 5 pound min card charge is annoying. Also, good customer service does not mean standing around chatting and then snarling at customers. Need to up their game.

Food this evening had obviously been cooked at lunchtime,not sold and re cooked the evening and sold on. Chip portions are enormous and we have told them several times. Surely smaller portions could equal better prices. The village chippy is a village disappointment

Used to be good but really gone down hill. Chips cold and greasy, fish is more batter than fish! Bloody closed when on website says open on a Tuesday evening so trip there was a waste of petrol! Joke of a business!

Sausage tasted like it was 3 days old, chips horrible & customer blow average. Would not return!!!!!

Always good food. Fish and chips excellent and kebabs are never greasy.

This was the nearest fish and chips to where we were camping in Foxton. The fish just didn't feel freshly battered and it didn't flake into big chunks like my local Sheffield chippy. The chips were a bit limp and weren't anything to write home about. Mushy peas ok Also got 5 not 6 battered mushrooms as advertised which again weren't fresh, I assume they came out of the freezer, and were smaller in size than I was expecting. If we return to the area my friend and I both agreed we'd try a different chip shop.

Fair prices and lots of chips, with great service, always happy to get food here every time I visit my grandchildren and daughter/son in law.

Food was ok, my savloy was cold. The staff could be a bit friendlier.

It's a shame their staff don't know the difference between a mince beef and onion pie and a steak and kidney pie as for when you order a steak and kidney pie and give you a mince and onion pie instead and yet they had steak and kidney pies in their make me wonder if they know their right hand from their left they were more interested in talking between their selves who needs their p45 I wonder it was the new bloke In their useless at his job shame also they don't do hot chips as well

Sausage chips and gravy I had was ok think chip fat readyfor changing due to a slight burnt oil taste Sausage was nice gravy was ok nice and thick just not the biggest pots for a large order. We'll priced friendly staff good selection of items to cover all food types worth a try.

I think it's a bit expensive here but in the current time of massive price increases maybe I'm out of touch. The cod and chips were cooked to perfection and the shop was very clean inside. Staff were polite and helpful.

Expensive for what you get, savaloy was stone Cold!! and ended up with food poisoning 24 hrs later!! Will not be eating here again...

Ordered a pasty, how difficult can that be? What I got was a plastic bag of hot, greasy mush. So lazy, they couldn't even be bothered to remove it from the packaging before cooking. Turn that TV off and pay attention to your food and your customers!!!

Decided to grab some fish and chips instead of a sandwich at the co-op. Was not disappointed. Ordered cod and chips with a fish cake. Was told the fish would take about 10mins, so was ok with that My rule of thumb for fish and chips: Good fish and chips does not need more than salt and vinegar. And this delivers Fish was light, and batter was very tasty. Well seasoned Chips were delicious and had a clean taste Fish cake tasted pretty good. But you can tell it’s not homemade, so there’s that Highly recommend this place. Will be returning

Nice fish and chips but very slow

Staff not very friendly. Were more interested in watching TV than providing good service. Asked for battered sausage but got plain. Whilst I was there, a woman asked for a bottle of coke and they grabbed can, she had to correct them. Chips were very greasy. Menu is not easy to see and read. Wouldn't return.

Gone down hill a bit recently . Fish was more skin than fish . A proper shame as this chippy used to be the best around by a mile :(

1 of the worst kebabs ive ever had, how u can serve burnt doner meat i dont know, and as i unwrapped it to discover that and a wrapped mess as the server clearly cant make a proper kebab either. havent had a problem here before but clearly gone downhill, wont be going back again.

A traditional village chippy serving all of the foods you would expect plus dishes such as lamb shank in gravy.

I always enjoy the food from this chippy. Friendly staff, good value for money.

Was ok, but maybe before a busy Friday replenish the oil with fresh. Still it's nice enough.

You only ever need a"small' chips here. Even for two people. Good food at good rates.

Normally pretty good but messed up our order, missing off a saveloy and putting in small chips when ordered large. Got charged for them though.

Went few weeks back 8.30 after footy training had battered burger and chips and the burger wasn't cooked, floppy and I ended up getting food poisoning. Please avoid and go to one in royston

Really good fish & chips. I don't normally like chip shop chips, but these are really tasty. They do Cod Roe too. Good quality fish.

Very expensive for not great portions or quality of food. Cash and cheque only. It's not very friendly or warm when you enter. I often would go into Royston and go to the chippy there as even though I may pay a bit more, I'd get a better quality meal, better service and be able to pay using my card.

Seemed nice until he didn't ask if there was anything else I wanted. Didn't offer salt and vinegar also. I had to ask for it and when I said ur supposed to offer salt and vinegar I seen a smirk on his face as he was putting way too much on my food which ruined it. They seem lazy. Food wasn't too bad apart from the obvious. Wouldn't visit again.

Verry tasty fish and chips, but check the times. Usually not open when I want to eat it.
