I have been a couple of times to this pub. There always seems to be something going on.

Alcohol free beer is very expensive

Everything about the experience was OK. They staff were very friendly and. The red cabbage was lovely.

Food delivered was not that was ordered,ie fish and chips came as fish pie,Indian curry with nan was described as pita bread,and you would expect the yogurt and pickle to be in a ramekin,it was put on top of the curry so no choice in the matter.Both meals were £17.50 each (ouch!).One of us ordered a special of the day pie with mash and peas,where the peas could be counted on one hand.When this was queried we were told they had run out of peas,how come when they had a shop across the road,and were offered brocoli instead with extra mash.Cost of this meal approx £17.After all this,the meals did taste nice but at a price!

Great Quiz night, especially as we won.

Super friendly service as usual. We visit every week and Luke and staff always make us feel welcome.

Had never been here before, plenty of parking, clean, nicely decorated pub. I enjoyed all 3 courses and am a fussy eater. All was bought out timely & hot for large xmas party of 21. Very impressed. Thanks chef, waitresses, all staff involved.

Have always enjoyed visiting the White Horse due to good food, lovely atmosphere and attentive staff. My friends and I chose the pub to meet for our Christmas lunch. We booked several weeks ago and when I booked was asked if we would be ordering from the festive menu to which I replied probably but had to check with my friends. I was not informed that if using the festive menu I would need to leave a deposit and do a pre- order. I attempted to contact the pub by phone soon afterwards to say we would be ordering from the festive menu but unfortunately was unable to get through. I then forgot to try again but didn’t think it would be a problem as hadn’t been told they needed to know in advance. We arrived today to be told we couldn’t order from the festive menu which was hugely disappointing especially as the winter menu was somewhat limited. We decided to order a panini each which came with a soft drink. Unfortunately not every soft drink was part of the deal which was not made clear to us. My friend even checked with the waitress that an orange and lemonade was part of the deal and was told it was but turned out to be not the case. All in all a very disappointing visit today. The food was fine although when my friend asked for a salad with her panini instead of chips it came with a handful of lettuce only. Hardly a salad! We are hoping this is a one off and will use the pub again although due to the limited menu choice we have decided to go elsewhere for our January meet up. Sorry for the negativity but am feeling very disappointed.

We went there today for lunch, from Norwich. Very pleasant surroundings, the food was terrific the staff were very friendly, definitely recommend it! Will go again I hope! Beautiful Fish and chips, sausages, steak/ale pie! All recommended!

Absolutely recommend this Pub for a wonderful, fantastic home cooked meal. Well worth the money and it is the best meal I and my family have had in a lot of years. Complemented the Chef from Chef to Chef. The service was brilliant, atmosphere was lovely. If I could give 10 stars I would.

Visited on a Sunday a group of 9 majority ordered roast beef, but unfortunately, they only had 1 left. The rest of the group opted for gammon, which was a great choice. A good portion size. Although it was busy, the wait time and service was great.

We held my mother’s wake at The White Horse. From the the first meeting for arrangements we were welcomed with a friendly face, professionalism, shown around and provided with all the information we needed. On the actual day the staff were attentive- everything happened like clock work without me having to worry about anything. The buffet lunch was plentiful and well enjoyed by everyone. We had a memorial here for a friend and I cannot speak highly enough of the pub and team. Luke was fantastic in helping us arrange it, flexible when it came to our catering requirements and more than reasonable about cost. I found him to be very honourable in his dealings with me. The food was fantastic, home cooked not frozen pre bakes, really great. the service was without fault and the place very clean. There is an area at the back of the pub that is ideal for private events without being closed off called the Tack Room. It was busy in the general pub all afternoon and I can see why, this is a genuine local, doing everything right. I wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend.

We went for a Sunday roast a couple of weeks ago to celebrate a few birthdays in the month. The venue was lovely, beautiful decor very comfortable, plenty of room around tables. We were sat at a table which was perfect as there was a few of us (booked in about a week prior to our visit). The Sunday roast was impeccable, it was a sizable portion for an adult meal and also for the children too. I opted for a burger unlike everyone else, and that was really good, really tasty. Food was hot when it came out too and we were not waiting long at all before it was brought out. The staff were amazing, really friendly couldn't do enough for us all. We will definitely be going back there, and would highly recommend anyone to pay a visit.

Booked The White Horse for my mums wake at short notice and they were more than happy to accommodate. On the day everything was in place and ran smoothly. The staff were exceptional and looked after us all afternoon. The buffet was exactly as ordered and was very tasty, great for kids and adults alike. Highly recommended, and will definitely be going back. Thank you The White Horse.

Booked the White Horse for a table of 8 for my mums birthday on Friday as it’s walking distance from the house, and wanted her to be able to have a couple of drinks as normally has to drive my dad. I’d pre dropped a cake and balloons and when we arrived the balloons were already displayed along with a “happy birthday” tile so the birthday girl knew which was her seat! The service was amazing with more than one member of staff looking after us and being attentive. The food was so amazing for such a reasonably priced menu, the White Horse is a local gem! Thank you for a wonderful evening, we all really enjoyed.

First time I've been here and was impressed with how spacious it is, the garden is well maintained and has lots of seating. Very quick friendly service and everywhere was noticeably clean

The White Horse is our local pub and a favourite haunt. Its all too easy to forget to review the local places you visit and can easily take them for granted. The White Horse is a local pub with ample on-site parking and garden to front and rear. Well decorated inside with 3 seating areas served by single long bar. Great food by a fantastic chef, plus friendly attentive staff.

Planned an event here, they were extremely accommodating. Nothing was to much, we all had a great evening family friendly with great food

Decided to pop here with friends on Tuesday for the quiz. We had a lovely meal and such a laugh! Atmosphere was great, good selection of food and the service was always prompt. Very impressed, we will visit again!

We were looking for a nice local pub to have lunch, quick Google brought this pub to our attention. Very glad it did as we had a lovely experience. Atmosphere was good. Food was very nice. Service was spot on. Couldn’t have asked for more and will definitely be returning.

Expensive drinks, didn't stop. No-one there , dead !!!

My mum is a regular at this place, so when we visited her recently we went here for lunch. I grew up in this area, and dimly remember this being a dingy "drinking pub", but what a transformation! It is bright and airy now, and has a high quality extremely well thought out interior. The couple who run it are extremely welcoming, and the food is sublime. Everything is hand made on the premises, including the cinnamon ice cream offered as an accompaniment to many of the desserts. The burger here is next level. Juicy, properly seasoned, it's an absolute delight compared to the mediocre offerings you get everywhere else. My wife opted for the veggie version of the sunday roast, and was delighted with the giant Yorkshire pudding and separate serving of beautifully cooked roast potatoes. A word of warning though; portions are large, and you *will* be tempted by the dessert menu. We opted for a hot cross bun bread and butter pudding made by the manageress, very good indeed. Consequently none of us ate for another 24 hours! This is now easily my favourite eatery in Bedford, and we always push for it when visiting mother. I always have the burger: I should probably try something else, but I know the burger's just going to be so good! This is an exemplary gastro-pub, where everything is working well together and on-song. Long may it continue!

Quiz night every Tuesday night is a must! Book a table to avoid standing awkwardly in the corner. Beers are a bit on the pricey side but I understand owning a pub is expensive

We dropped by for lunch, without a reservation on a Friday. They were expecting a large party, but seated s for lunch, with a view to needing the table back. They were perfectly accommodating and the service was very good. The food was hot and tasty and the surroundings were fresh and welcoming. We were offered a a table in the bar for coffee and deserts and we were fine with that. All in all, very good and lovely people. This was our first time in the White Horse an we'll be sure to visit again.

My friend treated me to lunch here and was singing its praises. We had burgers with a soft drink and the service was quick, friendly and efficient. The food was piping hot with some ingredients freshly prepared at the pub such as the coleslaw. Generous portions and very tasty. Would certainly return.

Lovely girl behind the bar was very helpful I found that it was a little expensive £5.50 midpoint lager toilet clean plug sockets and TV with WiFi but doesn't show matches in rugby or football

Lovely staff, lovely food, relaxing ambience

First time we have eaten here as a family. We booked a table on the Wednesday a few days before and the customer service on the phone was first class and very welcoming. The whole experience was extremely good,the welcome was extremely warm from the moment we walked in the door and the 2 ladies who looked after us were very attentive. The food was fresh,hot and very large portions.I had a Steak & Ale Pie which was really nice and my wife had a Huge Fish & Chips!Represented really good value for money and would definitely go again as we have enquired around other members of the family who have Gluten intolerances and they are more than happy to help with choices when we asked. The pub in general had a really nice atmosphere,nicely decorat3d and generally in good order with a variety of tables,booths and half booths to accommodate different size parties of people.Their is also plenty of parking with a good sized car park. My only feedback for not giving a 5* would be the washrooms could do with some TLC the Disabled / Baby changing facility especially is not great. Keep up the great work girls!

What arrived on the plate, wasn't what was in the menu, so disappointed, but the food was good, but pricey.

First time at this pub and I brought my dog along, the Sunday menu was great with alot of variety. Staff were very friendly and kind and the food was fresh and tasty. Will defo visit again

Evening out for Valentines night. We were welcomed straight away and given a choice of tables, had to move after about 20 mins due to a couple having a barney on then next table but nothing was too much trouble. Service was great and the food was fantastic - would highly recommend and we will definitely be returning.

Work Christmas meal, there was also a party of 60 people at the same time. Food still came out hot and tasted great. I didn't have the Christmas dinner but everyone else did, they all said it was excellent. Staff very friendly and service was prompt thanks for a great evening, meet Christmas.

After a week or so lay off we visited the White Horse in Bedford. Quite a substantial dining area and a lovely fire burning to warm the place. Sue had her customary Fosters while I tried a 4.8% Legasy Pale Ale, which I'm sure I will try again . Lovely ambiance and helpful staff.

Nicely decorated, we went on Monday night there was no foid or even chips to feed the kids.

Stopped here to grab a quick lunch on a Saturday a couple of weeks back. Staff were really welcoming and attentive. Both the indoor and outdoor areas seemed very well maintained plus there is plenty of parking. Lunch came quickly and I really enjoyed panini.

Only there for a wake but considering a meal at a later date. Looks very nice.

Being a foreigner and not knowing much about drinks, I asked for Pimm’s and lemonade. But got a mixed “fruity” drink…..but not complaining, it was a very good drink. Didn’t eat, but the menu looked pretty good. Nice pub, recommended.

Great food , we had chicken wings and hummus also burger. Clean and staff very polite. We definitely recommend .

Arrived at 12 just as it opened. After a walk thought we would have a sandwich and a drink. Told unless we had booked couldn't do lunch as got lot's of bookings. Had a drink and settled with some crisps. Whilst there other people came along and had a sandwich. Staff not rushed as not many customers. They did have some phone calls turning people away as fully booked. As we left 7 tables were free!! So where was the rush? Clearly not organised or didn't want the trade. Definitely won't return..avoid

It’s a lovely pub, nice drinks selection and decorated well etc but so shocking to see how the landlord speaks to his staff members. Particularly considering it was in clear sight of customers so dread to think how he treats behind the scenes. Not necessary or called for at all

Nicely refurbed and big Charlie Wells pub. Only giving it 4 instead of 5 because in two recent visits it hasn't had the CW Brewpoint seasonal ales on, just the regulars DNA and Legacy - which are nice enough but I like a bit of variety

Today we had the best Sunday roast for years. The beef was pink and thinly cut, the roast potatoes crisp and fluffy and plenty of gravy! The staff were friendly and efficient.

5 of us visited for Sunday lunch, the first time the 5 of us have been together for quite a while. It couldn't have been a better lunch, each of us have a different roast and every plate was completely empty by the end. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Yes it is a pub Sunday roast and not high end restaurant food but it is classic pub food at its best. Thank you all at The White Horse.

The menu tells you clearly that you may have to wait a while for the meal is cooked to order. I duly waited patiently for the salmon course and my wife for the beef. It did take about half an hour to come. Cooked to order... the (Aunt-Bessie-style) Yorkshire pudding was cold, the vegetables warm, the carrots almost tasteless and the French beans were fine. Now, we all love the roast potatoes and you have to get them right in this country; plus they are advertised on the menu as 'crispy'. Oh dear, they were almost cold, undercooked and thus hard work. Lacking in 'suntan' as well. HOWEVER, both the salmon and the beef were nicely cooked and tasty. Supporting cast disappointing and the stars of the show came up to scratch. To her credit, the waitress listened to my thoughts patiently and reported to the chef. We were offered a free dessert or coffee - and the coffee was lovely - which seemed a bit cheap when a £15.95 main course was at stake. Maybe we just caught the kitchens on an off day.

Ten of us went for a christmas meal. Great service. Everyone enjoyed their meals except me, it had lots of veg on I didn't ask for. Expensive for what I got too. Dessert was lovely, but not big enough.

We had our family Christmas get together today, 12th December. The team at the White Horse made it fabulous. The 9 of us haven’t all been together for two years. Lucie is superb at making sure everything is just right. The waiting staff are attentive...
