Gordon Arms in Bedford

Went to watch the England v Ireland six nations match. It's a really lovely place. There are plenty of TV screens in all areas of the pub. really friendly staff and swift service. A great afternoon, and England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 won!

Met a colleague on my lunch break and had the pizza deal, great offer for what you get. Pizza was tasty and cooked to order, drink offer was great too. Will definitely be returning on more lunch breaks!

This place is becoming a dive. All the puff when it reopened. Menu so reduced. Food - small portions and all frozen. Pizzas aren’t bad. That’s all. Staff don’t care. It’s going downhill fast.

We hosted our first ever event at the Ent Shed, Gordon Arms, last weekend. As a new theatre company, the Gordon Arms team made us feel really welcome and supported as we launched a night of new plays. The Ent Shed is a fantastic venue, really flexible and met our needs perfectly. We would definitely recommend anybody to book the Ent Shed for your event! The pub itself is also lovely. Food is fantastic, with lots of vegan options and bits for those with dietary requirements. Throughout the event, the team kept us looked after with good food, lovely drinks & great service. Thanks team!

We had Sunday roast on 17th or December at 13:45. Great vegetarian roast. Best cauliflower and cheese. Great ice-cream. Definitely recommend this place.

Great value pizza deal at lunchtime

Since this pub has been taken over by brew point it now has no character. Its gotten rid of the Guinness and replaced it by brewpoints own version. The food is arty farty as is their coffee selection. Never going again!!

Lovely pub,good choice of drinks at reasonable prices, pub kept clean and tidy polite service, didn't try the food but looked and smelt lovely. Definitely worth a revisit. Cheers

Popped in for a few beers and a pizza with friends, great service and the pizza was really good.

Recently moved into the area and looking for a new pub to frequent. Great food deals, 2-4-1 burgers and pizzas, good quality and nice service from the guys at the bar. Seems to be a well run pub, I think it's just changed hands but it's a good atmosphere, think this will be our new local!!!

A nice place for a pint of beer.

Called last minute on a Saturday evening, for 12 people they accommodated us no problem. Amazing food, friendly staff, place very clean and well looked after. Not a bad price either. 3 people three main meals and drinks £52. Will definitely come back! The pizzas were absolutely delicious the 3 for £15 was also incredible. Could not recommend this place enough.

Disappointed to find the menu has changed to be only pizza - which was however fabulous. No healthy choices available.

Really disappointing unfortunately. I have been here with my family on several occasions and other than the first time it has been poor in one way or another. Tonight we went and the service was hit and miss. One member of staff was great the other seemed to be having an off day. The same with the food, hit and miss. My burger was fantastic but missing an ingredient. The wife's salad was ok but hardly any of the ingredients on the menu were in the salad, and those that were missing were substituted with things that were a surprise. This isn't a big deal for the most part but none of this was communicated at any point, if you order a meal for £16 off of a menu it is expected that the meal will resemble what you ordered. If there had been allergies this may have been an issue to someone. The fire exit in the garden had a bike lock on it and when I highlighted this to one of the staff in case it was an oversight, I was told that it was OK as there are other exits, I said that wasn't really the point and was then told I was being confrontational and the conversation was abruptly ended. (as such i felt it pointless to raise the food issues with her during our visit) It is a real pity as this place is nearby, a fairly good price, pours a decent Guinness, allows dogs and has a good atmosphere, it just gets let down sometimes by the service, and sometimes, the food.

Fantastic pizza, the dough is exceptionally light & easily digestible full of delicious flavour! We had a lovely evening here for a birthday dinner for 8 of us. It was a most pleasant evening with wonderful ambiance. The staff bought out a cake for the birthday gal & sang happy B-day. Great effort & really made us feel welcome. I highly recommend.

Was there for an event. Pizza's were very good. Nice selection of beers and gins. Pleasant staff. Seems popular with locals. I'd recommend it if you're in the neighbourhood.

Mediocre Service and my brother and I both got food poisoning from the pizza (we suspect from the cheese as the rest of the party had no cheese or vegan cheese on their pizza and didn’t get sick)

My first visit here, myself and my daughter came at lunch time wanted to try something new. The staff are very friendly, lots of smiles, very modern inside,lots of outdoor seating, including a big shaded seating area, very clean groughout and exciting food choices on the menu. 3 items for £15 section, fab for sharing, we had the tacos, garlic bread and tatoe tots, they we're delicious. The Dough was absolutely beautiful :) We will Definitely will return. Thank you.

Absolute hidden gem tucked away on Castle Rd. The pizzas are incredible & the the burgers are super juicy & sauced to the max served in lovely brioche buns. I really can't recommend the Gordon Arms enough whether it's for the amazing food or banging vibes! I'll be back regularly no doubt

We had a lovely lunch here this week to celebrate a birthday. Everyone chose pizza and all agreed they were delicious! Lots of vegan options too. Staff were very helpful and friendly - great service! Thank you.

Absolutely fantastic food, friendly staff and also dog friendly.

My wife and I went for a meal before a live event. We went early to get a seat and to be able to eat before we went in. I went to the to order our food, and yet again they were sold out of our 1st, 2nd and third choice meals. I asked the barmaid what they did have and she sarcastically answered pizza. My answer was if I wanted pizza I'd have ordered from Domino's. We eventually found a starters each and main meal. I paid and went back to my seat. Half hour later our food turned up, the main first then the starter. The burger was over cooked and my wife's meal looked like something the cat dragged in. Well it's easy to say we won't be eating there again.

It’s is a wonderful pub, warm and welcoming staff and atmosphere. The food is very good too:)) will be visiting again soon!

Classic Bedford pub - only reason hasn't got more than 3 stars is because I sat for one point with an old mate to catch up, so didn't take much in.

A little underwhelming. Went with a party of 6 for Mother's day having prebooked. The person booking was not informed that there was going to be a children's party going on up in the function room with a lot of people coming and going with very loud music. As there were a couple of people with poor hearing in the group then conversation was limited. Starters were great. We had the Tater tots and Pork belly bites and both were reqlly tasty. Mains were so so. Majoirty of the group had Sunday roast. Portion size was small and quality was average. Gravy was a little conjealy. Not especially warm. Probably would go back but not for an occasion.

The Gordon Arms / Ent Shed Team excelled themselves for our wedding. The Ent Shed was ideal for our reception and the 55 (yes, 55!) pizzas we ordered were delicious. The perfect end to a perfect day. Thank you Ent Shed / Gordon Arms.

Our Monday pub excursion was to the Gordon Arms, a Charles Wells establishment. This was a old haunt of ours some years ago. A 4.6% Pravha pilsner was today's choice and was a good decision! Food was good but a little pricey. Pub was named after the Gordon Highlanders a Scottish Regiment. The pub also has an entertainment venue, which has regular tribute band appearances. A very friendly barman/ Manager

I had a brilliant birthday party in the Ent Shed with 45 guests. Great space for socialising, eating and dancing. The food was fantastic (pizzas, buffalo wings, salad, macaroni cheese, hummus sharing platter) and they catered for gluten free and veggie. I hired a DJ who provided music and lights and I organised the tables, decorations and cakes. The staff are friendly and helpful and kept the food coming and clearing away.

Use to like it here when owned by Gill amazing place to work now it's corporate run and they have messed with the inside of the pub it is horrible won't be back

Since reopening under new management, this has become my favourite place to go for casual drinks and food. Their pizza’s are unrivalled and the selection on tap is fantastic. Recommend to anyone!

Great local pub in the Castle quarter of Bedford which serves an adventurous range of food and Charles Wells' ales, in a friendly atmosphere. Really great beer garden too for summer drinks. However, I want to big up their vegan pizzas (they do non-vegan, too, of course) which are very tasty and great value. I go for the 'shroom, which is yummy, but their Margarita can be adapted to plant-based, too. Best of all? Go on a Monday evening and it's two pizzas for the price of one!

Better than a spoons. Or at least the beer is, the food not so much.

Starters OK, Padron Peppers and tata tots. Burger overcooked and very disappointing, looked like McDonalds to be honest, no salad or garnish. We were too British and didn't send it back, that was our mistake. The roast not much better, potatoes clearly reheated many times, and the Yorkshire pudding almost black. Pub seems to have an OK atmosphere, would maybe pop in for a drink, but there are enough eateries in Bedford that I would go elsewhere for food next time.

I would be happy to go here for a drink, meet friends etc, but there are much better places in Bedford to eat.

We specifically went to this pub because it had a number of vegan/plantbased options. The Katsu ch*ken burger sounded delicious but upon ordering, we were told that it was not in stock. We then decided to order the Mezze plantbased pizza instead, only to be told 5 mins later that there was no hummus for the base, which we were very disappointed with. We went ahead and ordered the pizzas anyway with a standard pizza sauce instead but as we were disgruntled, the bar person suggested that he would make our chips (that we ordered as extra) a larger portion. We did not receive larger portions of chips but instead received a dish of Tata-tots that had mayonnaise and cheese on them. As two out of three of us were vegan, we could not eat these. When the other member of our party’s BrewPoint burger turned up, it was very disappointing to say the least. It was missing the Dill pickle as per the menu as they didn’t have any of that either, so was just a basic looking burger on a small plate with a small cup of chips for £13.50. Even if a little side salad were added, it would have made it look a bit more worthwhile. The bar person did again try to rectify our situation by giving us a round of drinks which we were grateful for. All in all, nice looking pub, good for drinks but it wouldn’t be our first choice for food again.

We came at 20.20 on a Monday to grab few pizzas on the go and take advantage on the 241 offer as we have tasted the pizzas before and they are pretty good. We did try to call multiple times before coming to place the order but no one answered the phone. We just assumed it was loud or busy. So we decided to come and wait. However to our surprised we were quietly murmured that the kitchen is closed by a young lady behind the bar. We were surprised as on the website it states that the kitchen closes at 21.30. As we didn't really hear/ believe the first lady we looked at the 2 chefs next to the pizza oven and directed our question to them but they were actively trying to avoid eye contact. Another young lady behind the bar then quietly confirmed the kitchen is closed. We were disappointed as we tried to call but none of these 4 people answered the phone even though it wasn't loud or busy in there and also because we weren't given explanations (not even apology) as to why it was closed early.. Wasted trip. Maybe update the correct kitchen opening hours to the website.

Newly refurbished and really well set out/atmosphere Great beers and super food

Having heard of the refurbished Garden we paid a visit and having purchased drinks, we checked out the menu, 12 quid for a pizza 9 quid for a burger... No, we drank up and headed to a proper restaurant.

Ever since it had the Charles Wells overhaul around August 2021, it has been awesome. Fantastic selection of beer and ales matched with a wide selection of spirits, brilliant themed decor and a decent selection of live music (even if I do say so myself!) Come and check out one of the jewels in the Charles Wells Crown here in Bedford 👍

Arrived at 10pm on a Saturday and felt like it had shut already. It hadn’t but the bar was covered in empty glasses like they were closing up. Several key tables near the bar were covered in work material and not available for customers to...

We had a family gathering in the back garden last Saturday the 14th of May and would like to thank the management in allowing us to reserve some seats and tables outside as we had a fairly large group. This place has recently undergone a full refurb and is bright and welcoming. Friendly staff, good menu choices and is reasonably priced. We asked one of the staff members towards the end of the night to take a group picture of us all, and he was more than happy to help. Overall experience was positive and we will endeavour to visit again. Highly recommend this place.

Good to have a pub with a few more decent beers that are brewed locally! Fun, buzzing atmosphere and food is okay. We were a bit disappointed with our kebabs as the bread wasn't warmed and seemed a small amount of meat for a large kebab, but it won't stop us from trying again with something different.

Well done to all the staff. Arrived to warm and welcoming staff. Had a pizza WOW 👌 I shall return .. 5*
