Best fish and chips ever! Insanely fresh and delicious with more than generous portions. The owner was hyping it up and he did not disappoint. Owner is a saint, never met such a nice guy who you can tell truly loves and respects people and his business. Both me and my partner had fish and chips and mushy peas and will be going back for sure Food was amazing. Lifetime customer earned, can't wait to go back.

Working in the area and came across this chippy. Made very welcome by the friendly owner. Husband had chicken and chips, I had cod and chips. Both were delicious. Very generous portions. Would use again if in the area.

Just had a very prompt delivery from the lovely gentleman , delivery driver. The Fish and Chips were of top quality with a real ' seaside fish and chip flavour ' Hubby demolished in record time. My Chicken kebab as always divine, succulent ample chicken pieces , lovely chilli sauce accompanied with a fresh crisp salad ...what more could you ask for . Considering conditions of the roads a massive thank you for great service and lovely food

Bedford flooded crazy jammed up traffic these guys were 6 minutes late on the delivery time. Food still hot and good as always. They have always been amazing 👍👍👍👍👍

In our opinion, the best chip shop in Bedford. We have tried Several other chip shops overtime, but they have been very inconsistent. Harroden fisheries has always been very consistent producing good quality fish and chips with crispy batter. I ordered kebab meat and chips which was perfectly cooked and very hot when it arrived as always. The chap on the phone is always very friendly and professional and very informative . We would highly recommend this chip shop. Well done guys keep up the good work.

Wow amazing food and friendly service

Were down from the peak district visiting family and had popped in just for chips, i can honestly say their great, some long some short some wide thats actually a novelty too, the service was perfect and cooked fresh, we took them with up to our caravan half hour away and they were still plenty warm enough to enjoy,

Unfortunately delivery was made half an hour before I requested. Almost stone cold, unpleasant batter on the fish which I'm guessing is cut price oil and unpleasant cheese on the chips. The fish itself was nice and chips were ok…but not worth £15

Just had fish and chips with curry sauce , the owner told us we were going to love these he wasn’t wrong, excellent service and food will definitely be returning.

Great spot, easy ordering and one of the biggest menu’s I’ve seen for a fisheries, it has almost everything! Was not disappointed and will return regularly!

Living in France this is one thing I miss, Fish and Chips and admittedly we were late at night it was well after 21h00. Everything was cooked to order and absolutely delicious. Customer service was brilliant, really great atmosphere, great to talk to, cannot fault anything! Would recommend and will be back!

My family and I have never ordered from HARROWDEN FISHERIES before but we decided to on this occasion… WORST SERVICE EVER. Story time: Order: Fish+Chips, Chips, 2x Large sausage, Halloumi fries, Mushy peas and a ‘HOME MADE’ burger. 1 hour 10 mins wait… obviously cold. The chips were under cooked, under seasoned and no flavour. The sausages were over cooked. The fish looked… acceptable. But the ‘home made’ burger… One thin - obviously store bought frozen - patty, COVERED in sauce, actually to the point where you could barely see the patty… in one word? ‘Sloppy’ to be fair, it did come with salad in… 2 slices of cucumber and a thin lettuce leaf. No mushy peas. The halloumi fries were store bought also so they tasted okay.. Because of this we decided to call the restaurant and ask for a refund as Just Eat did not have this option. My mother makes the call. A man answers and after she says who we are, immediately he apologises for the missing mushy peas but they weren’t going to deliver them. Mum had told him about the length of delay... Politely, I might add. But he replied, quite rudely with ‘Footballs on… what do you expect?’ Mum said that the football shouldn’t make much difference and that there is Nothing on the website to say there would be delays? She continues to explain about the food. He then goes on to raise his voice and say ‘The food was not cold, don’t tell me it was cold. As for the burger, you ordered cheese and mayo. You got cheese and mayo. NO REMORSE. No comment on the actual burger. He then continued to shout at my mum (some parts I could not hear) but he ended up telling her that he would never deliver to our address again. - Do not worry. We are never intending too. Worst F+C around! You have only got a one star rating because it wouldn’t let me give you zero. Absolutely disgusted with the attitude of the employees. No customer services skills what so ever. Nothing was offered as an apology. We couldn’t even ask for a refund as we couldn’t get a word in edge wise. Very, VERY disappointed and angry with HARROWDEN FISHERIES and would never recommend in a million years. Disrespectful. Football is obviously more important than this guys career. It’s a NO from me. Even though the delivery was late. The driver was polite and apologetic.

Freshhhhh food. Can not beat it when your food is nice and fresh. All fried food is cooked to order which I love and you can tell through the taste of the food. The welcome you get when entering the shop is amazing even though it was my first time. (Have been many times since). The other customer's in store were also very nice too and even gave their recommendation's along with the owner.

The fish and chips were freshly cooked, the batter was perfect, fish delicious and chips were among the best I've ever eaten. A***** service and quality food 😊

Soggy/wet, cold and tasteless. Worst we’ve had in Bedford. Even the mushy peas were substandard (thin like a soup). Won’t be ordering from them again.

Great place and great food, just amended review. Best Fish and chips ( definitely in the top in the uk )The chips are done by freshly peeled potatoes and not the usual rubbish that are pre-done with chemicals. The owner takes pride in his food and uses a traditional method like the good old British days. The fish is also quality with just the right amount batter. Place well worth the visit for some one who for once in his lifetime wants to taste traditional fish and chips also fried in quality beef drippings . Especially if you be lucky enough to be in Bedford, worth ordering and eating on the spot.

Good arrived piping hot and the salad on the kebab was fresh! Delivery was on time also. Will definitely be ordering from here again

Fast delivery. Food still warm. Boxed up so no grease. Lovely delivery guy. Very generous portion of chips. Fish a large. All for £10, then delivery. The only chips I can microwave (1 min 800w) that still tastes good after. I like my chips super hot!

Generous sized portions of chips and service and friendliness of staff is great. A great selection of food, not just fish and chips. Amazing stone baked meat feast pizza, hand crafted. Glad dominoes failed me that night, I am now converted to Harrowden fisheries pizza from now on. Good value for money too.

Can't rate atmosphere as food delivered but delivery guy is lovely. Delivery is quick but allow for popular busy times! Food is amazing value! Go for fish and chips. Wanted to post photo as so impressed but no option to do that. Served in a box. No grease no hassle. No washing up even. Food portions are huge. I phoned order in direct so £10 fish and chips and £1 delivery. Go for it. Fish is medium/large, had to break it to fit on plate. Chips are generous portion. I struggle to finish them. And these are the only chips I microwave (I like food burning hot!) for 1 min 800w. Best value considering how expensive it gets to order for 1 person these days!!

Fish AND chips for £10?! That's cheap!..but the quality & amount you get is very good. Not greasy. Not squashed in greasy paper. Set up in a box. Still hot. And whole fish (I'd say medium size). Chips fill the box under the fish (I'd say large chips). I was starving but really struggled to finish them! Have always loved Harrowden chips. They're also the only chips I've microwaved (1 min 800watts) and they taste the same except Burning hot. That's how I like them. Too hot to eat straight away.

I rang Harrowden Fisheries to pre order my order. It was ready to collect when I arrived,as I was treating My elderly mother to lunch. She is Housebound,and always looks forward to fish and chips from Harrowden Fisheries.

Armando’s Special Wrap . not a good buy. would give it a miss . BBQ chicken wings very small and not much sauce. chips were good. the cos still had the skin on and very poor quality peace of fish .

I haven’t ordered from here in awhile and we wasn’t disappointed. Customer service is brilliant, you can see that staff take pride in their work. It’s very clean. Food was soo nice, the double fried chicken wings were delicious and so was the rice. 10/10 will be using this chippy from now on

Can thoroughly recommend , the absolute Winner for me, 'Chicken Shasklick ' Generous amounts of beautifully marinated Chicken pieces , coupled with an array of vibrant Salard . All wrapped up in a lovely soft Nan. To 'seal the deal ' the level of spice in the chilli sauce was just ✅

It was late on a Tuesday night so I'm not expecting an amazing atmosphere however the owner was very polite, the food was cooked fresh and we chatted about the history of the shop. Turns out he has a photo of my Grans cousin who owned the business back in the 60/70s when it was in the front of the house next door. It's tucked away off the main road but clearly the community like what's on offer otherwise it would not still be there today.

Definitely the very best fish and chips in Bedford, great tasty fish and non greasy chips. Friendly service too...what more can l say..... I will be buying from here from now on.

Freshly cooked to order everytime. Tried the masala fish kebab in naan and definitely will order that again. Ordered in shop and maz knew to cook a chicken burger for 1 of the kids straight away without me ordering. Not many chippies can say they know a customer order that well. Chicken for the wife was cooked to perfection again. Great food for reasonable prices and one of the best chippies in Bedford

Have you eaten your own food? I would have sold this to a customer. I would have called the customer back and said 'I'm sorry, i cannot sell you this food, it's not good enough' and refunded them. I ordered online and asked for the food to be cooked fresh. Large chips were cold, small chips were missing. Large cod was the size of my palm and oily. Vegetable roll was hard as a brick, cheese slice was old and was hard as rock. The fish burger topped it off, the bun was stale, the lettuce was brown and the fish was old, soggy and hard inside. Never again. An honest review, so others can make an informed decision, spending the money was not the problem, I happily spent the money. You on the other hand, ignored my message of 'please cook the food fresh' and sent me stale, rotten food, it was a Sunday and maybe you couldn't be bothered to cook it fresh and gave me your left overs, but do not deflect your 'not up to standard food' by making out it was about spending money. If you had worked hard and put the effort in and cooked fresh food and sent me that, I would be leaving a different review.

I can't believe the food from this place. It is absolutely beautiful. BANGING! It's the best I've ever tried in Bedford. (No offence to any of the other places which I do go to from time to time). I can't remember the last time I was this satisfied after eating a takeaway. That's the truth! The owner is very lovely and makes the food fresh upon each order. It comes absolutely piping hot and EXTREMELY tasty. I've never come across someone who seems to care and put his heart and soul into his customers/food the way this guy does! You really have to try this place!

No complaints about food but it was ordered at 6:14pm and arrived at 7:55pm. Gravy that was paid for was forgotten and no other other sauce was given even though 4 fish and chips were ordered.

First time ordering and it didn’t disappoint. Food was piping hot. Curry sauce was amazing and tasted like proper chip shop curry sauce. Sticky toffee pudding was delicious. Highly recommend ordering from here.

Every part of our experience was simply excellent at Harrowden Fisheries today. Fish - fresh, tasty batter, crispy, delicious. Chips - nicely cooked, plentiful. Mushy peas side - nice consistency, better flavour. Curry side - legit spice mix and creamy blend providing nice dip option for the chips. All rather reasonably priced. The only thing better than the food was the terrific service. Great guys who went out of their way to treat my family like gold. Bedford is fortunate to have Harrowden to go back to again & again…we certainly would if we lived here!

Those homemade onion rings were so huge!! Chips were banging, the gravy was actually thick. 10/10

Went here for the first time as our local fish and chip shop is closed temporarily. Beautiful piece of cod and a light batter. Most of the chips were chunky and crispy, although my husbands portion could have done with being cooked for a bit longer as a little pale. Wouldn't stop us from returning though and would recommend to others.

Fish and chips were nice. Onion rings were 95% undercooked batter and saveloy was not nice. To top it off the delivery was rude - not so happy to be honest
