Amazing fish and chips, cooked fresh, and the owner gave me some free chips, lovey friendly guy.

It was late on a Tuesday night so I'm not expecting an amazing atmosphere however the owner was very polite, the food was cooked fresh and we chatted about the history of the shop. Turns out he has a photo of my Grans cousin who owned the business back in the 60/70s when it was in the front of the house next door. It's tucked away off the main road but clearly the community like what's on offer otherwise it would not still be there today.

Definitely the very best fish and chips in Bedford, great tasty fish and non greasy chips. Friendly service too...what more can l say..... I will be buying from here from now on.

Beautiful experience for first time ordering, the gentleman who owns the shop was so helpful went above and beyond frying vegetarian separate from the meat, very clean, friendly, lovely food will definitely be back 😊

Freshly cooked to order everytime. Tried the masala fish kebab in naan and definitely will order that again. Ordered in shop and maz knew to cook a chicken burger for 1 of the kids straight away without me ordering. Not many chippies can say they know a customer order that well. Chicken for the wife was cooked to perfection again. Great food for reasonable prices and one of the best chippies in Bedford

Have you eaten your own food? I would have sold this to a customer. I would have called the customer back and said 'I'm sorry, i cannot sell you this food, it's not good enough' and refunded them. I ordered online and asked for the food to be cooked fresh. Large chips were cold, small chips were missing. Large cod was the size of my palm and oily. Vegetable roll was hard as a brick, cheese slice was old and was hard as rock. The fish burger topped it off, the bun was stale, the lettuce was brown and the fish was old, soggy and hard inside. Never again. An honest review, so others can make an informed decision, spending the money was not the problem, I happily spent the money. You on the other hand, ignored my message of 'please cook the food fresh' and sent me stale, rotten food, it was a Sunday and maybe you couldn't be bothered to cook it fresh and gave me your left overs, but do not deflect your 'not up to standard food' by making out it was about spending money. If you had worked hard and put the effort in and cooked fresh food and sent me that, I would be leaving a different review.

Great food as always even added in a second piece of fish free of charge.

I can't believe the food from this place. It is absolutely beautiful. BANGING! It's the best I've ever tried in Bedford. (No offence to any of the other places which I do go to from time to time). I can't remember the last time I was this satisfied after eating a takeaway. That's the truth! The owner is very lovely and makes the food fresh upon each order. It comes absolutely piping hot and EXTREMELY tasty. I've never come across someone who seems to care and put his heart and soul into his customers/food the way this guy does! You really have to try this place!

No complaints about food but it was ordered at 6:14pm and arrived at 7:55pm. Gravy that was paid for was forgotten and no other other sauce was given even though 4 fish and chips were ordered.

First time ordering and it didn’t disappoint. Food was piping hot. Curry sauce was amazing and tasted like proper chip shop curry sauce. Sticky toffee pudding was delicious. Highly recommend ordering from here.

Was a lovely fish and chips... only 1 thing would be fish is not a meat item and if I was pescetarian I wouldn't have been able to eat with all the world's allergens company's should be careful but was lovely!!

Half of order was missing on first delivery. They did come out and deliver rest, but that was 20 minutes after first delivery.

Every part of our experience was simply excellent at Harrowden Fisheries today. Fish - fresh, tasty batter, crispy, delicious. Chips - nicely cooked, plentiful. Mushy peas side - nice consistency, better flavour. Curry side - legit spice mix and creamy blend providing nice dip option for the chips. All rather reasonably priced. The only thing better than the food was the terrific service. Great guys who went out of their way to treat my family like gold. Bedford is fortunate to have Harrowden to go back to again & again…we certainly would if we lived here!

Food was freezing, ordered salad & got none. Chips undercooked. Restaurant moaned because my address was far away however delivery was still offered?? Only good thing is the delivery driver, he was lovely!

Went here for the first time as our local fish and chip shop is closed temporarily. Beautiful piece of cod and a light batter. Most of the chips were chunky and crispy, although my husbands portion could have done with being cooked for a bit longer as a little pale. Wouldn't stop us from returning though and would recommend to others.

Milkshake came 2 hours later than the rest of the food and was melted and warm, delivery driver tried to blame my autistic daughter for not asking for it when he came the first time!

Amazing quality food, customer service is always on point and the delivery time is always on time!

Fish and chips were nice. Onion rings were 95% undercooked batter and saveloy was not nice. To top it off the delivery was rude - not so happy to be honest

This definitely is the best kebab I have had in a long time and the chips were like proper sea side chip and were roasting hot. I will definitely be using these again

Order via JustEat. Food was delivered promptly, it was hot, and well cooked. Despite initially forgetting the drink I had ordered, the driver returned, just to deliver the drink, which was still cold! Fantastic service.

Promised the owner I would leave a review. First time ordering was yesterday and food was piping hot and food was delicious, so much so ordered again tonight!! So impressed they took the time to read my notes on the order cant rate them enough , the chicken kebab is amazing

First time ordering from this fish and chip shop and so glad we did. The fish, chips, steak pie, sausage in batter and curry sauce were all lovely. Our order even turned up almost an hour earlier than stated!. We will definitely order from them again.

I promised the owner I'd leave a review because honestly I was really bloody pleased with my food. I used to travel the country for work, and fish and chips has always been a favourite of mine so I've had a hell of a lot of the stuff, but it's always been frankly pretty bland. Fish and chips is normally cheap, fills a hole but you don't necessarily think it's that tasty, and it's normally been sat around under a heat bulb for hours and is luke warm and mushy. But this was so different, it was cooked fresh, the whole meal, which I liked. You can actually taste the cod, the batter was crisp and not soggy and the chips tasted like potatoes. It's not the cheapest fish and chips, but the quality warrants the cost in my eyes. I can honestly say as long as the quality remains the same as I've had twice now from these guys, I won't buy anywhere else. Too notch

Unfortunately delivery was made half an hour before I requested. Almost stone cold, unpleasant batter on the fish and unpleasant cheese on the chips. The fish itself was nice and chips were ok…but not worth £15

Bit disappointed with food this time. Tasted ad. Very oily. Could not enjoy it as it made everything taste bitter. I recommend you to others. So rather than not use you again. I feel it better to say. So you can put problem right. Oil tasted really old.

No flavour. Very disappointed for the amount we paid. £27 for 2 chips and cheese, 3 sausages and gravy. Wrong sausages came too.

So, I have placed many orders with these guys over the years and they are always consistent with quality and delivery. The past 2 orders I have placed I wanted savaloys! Hardly anyone eats savaloys but apparently from Armandos they get sold out pretty quick if they have them! So, whilst disappointed that I can't eat my favourite sosage encased in some sort of bovine intestine casing I have both times been greeted with a phone call and offered a replacement. I have to shout out to Dave the delivery guy! Very polite, very prompt and he also knew my order was lacking savaloys! A far cry from some of the delivery fellas that turn up at your door and he is a benchmark against all delivery drivers should be measured 👊🏼 Top guy, top chippy 👌🏼

Delivery time is always’ updated’ after order paid for always takes longer than originally stated this time the wrong sauce was put on my donner kebab😡delivery man spent ages on door step letting food get cold asking us if we knew how to turn the torch function off on his phone!!🤯🤯🤯

Hi tried most of the fish chips in Bedford and all are inconsistent some times good sometimes not so good before we found this one have had ordered many times now and perfect every time won't go anywhere else now, try them and you'll see .

Perhaps they should stick to fish and chips, as it was a shock to open up my delivery and see what they offer as "pizza". A frozen pizza would be miles ahead of this. The one on the right is supposed to be a Margarita, but no trace of basil or oil in sight, just cheese and a whisper of tomato sauce. The other looks like a bag of frozen veggies was dumped on top. The crust was like a stale biscuit. To their credit it's fairly cheap as far as pizza goes, but not cheap enough to stomach.
