Harrowden Fisheries in Bedford

Delicious fish n chips - I order the mini fish & chips every week for my family. Delicious crispy batter, not too greasy. Curry sauce isn’t like the thick one you normally get but so I just order it for hubby as it’s too runny for my liking. The chips are more like slices but still tasty and cooked through unlike some other places I’ve ordered from. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED- TRY THIS PLACE

Food was lovely and hot , my little boy was happy with his surprise chocolate shortbread 😁 and he loved the fish fingers as he couldn't get his pizza

Food was an hour late- took 2 hours from point of ordering to actually receiving the food- not impressed.

Quite disappointed, twice now I’ve ordered fish and chips and both times the fish has barely got any batter on it which is frustrating as that’s a quality control issue that they must see before sending the food out, a one of I wouldn’t mind but seems to be a recurring issue

Please give this place a try if you love delicious fish n chips. We order the OAP fish n chips and occasionally a saveloy as a bonus. Curry sauce is creamy xx

Absolutely delicious fish n chips. I get the OAP fish n chips because my family aren’t big eaters and love that the meal is individually boxed. We have tried other places but keep coming back here

Hour late. Food cold. Chips were slimy and tasted of tainted oil. Chicken was dry. Awful.

I placed an order though Uber eats because I love this place they usually have such nice food and a short delivery time my order was then cancelled and it came up on uber eats the shop was shut so i ordered elsewhere and then once I placed my other order i could suddenly place an order with harrowdens which is really strange but by that time i couldn’t cancel my order from the other merchant. This is the first time I’ve had an issue with this place and I’m really disappointed

We recently moved into the area and was looking for a new fish and chip place (I’m really picky when it comes to fish and chips). I saw that a friend had left a 5 star review so gave it a go. So glad I did!!! The food is fresh and spot on. The guy that runs it is so lovely. In the evenings they are constantly on the phone taking orders or updating customers with their orders. I don’t mind the 15 min drive to pick it up. It’s worth it!!!!

Good was cold on arrival. ordered based on 4 star rating. Definitely not 4 star. waited over an hour for delivery. called restaurant to see where food was, took ages for pick up on phone then told food on it's way then hung up. definitely won't be ordering again.

Placed order for delivery. The delivery was 45 minutes late. The food was cold and half the order was missing. Could not contact the restaurant as the line was constantly "busy" (left the phone off the hook) still couldn't contact them over 2 hours after receiving the order. Disgusting service. Will not be recommending to anyone. I would advice people to go elsewhere!

The large kebab was tiny. We order from another place normally but thought we'd try something different so know what a large kebab should be like. I'd hate to see the regular. It also looked microwaved. The Shashlik nan came with salad even though I specified NO salad. The pizzas were covered in plastic cheese. Sorry but could not recommend and won't use again.

Good size portions and a good price will definitely get from here again.

Food is great as always but driver left it on bin and was back to his car by the time we answered the door. He did not care it was so late nor did he apologise, when prompted for a reason he told me to get a life and get on with it.

Sajid you produce consistently quality food. The Chicken Shashlik was as expected , succulent , plentiful chicken pieces in a divine chilli sauce spiced just right. Such a fresh salad of crunchy lettuce, red onion as well as baby tomatoes. Laid on a bed of warm Nan . Excellent friendly service . Thanks for my delicious meal see you soon. Tracey.

I got the OAP special. £7.50. Wish I’d taken a photo - delicious & fluffy/crispy batter on the fish and real home cut chips included in a takeaway box - just add cutlery & salt & vinegar! I order at least once a week- I’ve tried other places but nowhere does a full meal in a box and it’s a nice small portion as I can never eat a full one. Try it - you wont be disappointed

The meat was hard and over cooked. Plus I found onion peel in one of the kebabs. Normally these are lovely but today they were not edible !

10/10 food! We randomly ordered from here several months ago and never looked back! Absolutely the best fish and chips in Bedford (we've tried a few of the local ones). We pass 2 other fish and chip shops to get to Harrowdens but it is definitely worth it. Food is fresh and tasty, cod is a good size and our favourite G man special is fantastic - never had a doner like it. You can tell Sajith is proud to prepare such good food and always looks after his loyal customers. As long as we're in bedford, he will have our custom :) J & A

Pasó por Harrowden Fisheries para un almuerzo rápido mientras iba de camino a ikea en Milton Keynes. Si alguna vez estás en Bedford y deseas auténtico, delicioso pescado con papas fritas servido con un lado de genuina amabilidad, no puedo recomendar este lugar lo suficientemente alto. Es el tipo de lugar que te deja no solo satisfecho sino con ganas de volver. El pescado estaba fresco, descascarillado y cocinado a la perfección. Las patatas fritas eran gruesas, cortadas, perfectamente sazonadas, y el equilibrio justo de crujiente por fuera y esponjoso por dentro. También probé la salsa de curry, que estaba deliciosa. Sin duda volveré!

Perhaps make pizzas unavailable if not serving during the week as our first order was cancelled due to this. Not a huge issue though! All sorted after returning the missed call. Fantastic food when arrived, Lovely people, tasty food what more could you want!!? Will order again! :-)

I greatly recommend this shop's fish and chips, as I am a lover of it and this shop has never failed me to satisfy my palette. Aside from their food, the customer service is really top-notch and they are very accommodating especially the owner, Saj. I call myself their "on-the-clock" customer because as soon as they open at noon, I order from them and Saj will always be there to personally prepare and serve the best fish and chips in town. ☺️💪

Food was pretty good, however marred by the fact that it was 40 mins late (non peak time) and also missing redbull and dessert. A shame

Best fish and chips ever! Insanely fresh and delicious with more than generous portions. The owner was hyping it up and he did not disappoint. Owner is a saint, never met such a nice guy who you can tell truly loves and respects people and his business. Both me and my partner had fish and chips and mushy peas and will be going back for sure Food was amazing. Lifetime customer earned, can't wait to go back.

Ok , delivery was on time , but food wise, one of the worse food I ever had ,the kebab was dry and no flavour and only a little bit of salad. Onion rings and battered sausage was full of grease and left a funny taste in our mouths. Missing our curry sauce and instead was given mushy peas by mistake. Best thing was the chips. Garlic sauce, come on u can do it better, is a BIG NO , u fool me once, but never again! Big overrated place !

The worse pizza I’ve ever tried in my life, ordered 3 pizzas and they were left untouched, they are so bad I just can’t believe it, I’ll never used just eat again as you clearly don’t check who’s selling food here

Working in the area and came across this chippy. Made very welcome by the friendly owner. Husband had chicken and chips, I had cod and chips. Both were delicious. Very generous portions. Would use again if in the area.

I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say that Harrowden fisheries do the best chips in Bedfordshire. As long as they’re not taken out early - (which hasn’t happened in a long long time for me)

I almost don’t want to review as this feels it should be my best secret place to get fish n chips but they’re too good not to tell everyone. Their fish isn’t greasy at all. Although my son isn’t a fan of the shape of their chips….he likes the square cut but these are more slices like homemade chips
