One of the best Sunday lunches I have ever had in this area. Excellent service. Excellent food. Lovely ambiance. Absolutely a place to return to.

We booked this lunch with friends having read about the Chef and the Pub’s ethos on Muddy Stilettos website. Warm welcome on arrival in the small traditional bar got things off to a good start. The starters we tried, confit of duck n raw tuna were both delicious and all (four of us) opted for different mains, lamb beef and pork and all were exceptional. Very generous portions, as were the veg - cauli/broccoli cheese, root veg, greens, and superb roast pots. Staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. Best Sunday lunch out i’ve had in a long time. Not the cheapest but great value considering quality, and that almost all local produce. Can’t wait to return for the Farmers Table!

You pay for what you get. Massive portions local produce all cooked in house. Very friendly atmosphere. Rural set in the village or Felmersham.

We stayed for a weekend and we loved the Sun Inn. Beautifully decorated room, friendly, welcoming staff and really delicious food. We felt taken care of from the initial phone call right up to the moment we left. Highly recommended!

We spent just one night in the superior suite and although we have stayed in some very nice hotels, this is honestly the most impressive accommodation we have ever experienced. Just so classy, tasteful and very spacious. It was like staying in a Neptune showroom but even better! Incredible value for money and the thoughtful extra complimentary treats were much appreciated. The staff even offered to serve their 5 course taster menu to our suite ( which had a dining table) as they were fully booked in the dining room that night - this really was so thoughtful but we decided that the Hatch menu looked good too and we enjoyed a very tasty meal and ate in the bar garden. Can highly recommend The Sun Inn and just wish we could have stayed longer.

We absolutely loved this quirky place. The room was fantastic; very spacious, very luxurious and definitely great value for money. The staff were fantastic too. We were shown to our room by a lady called Beth who was really welcoming. Once we had settled, we went down into the bar and were greeted by Beth again, who had a bit of a laugh with us. We had food from the hatch, which was really nice. We initially sat in the beer garden and one of the locals said a quick hi and told us a little bit about the village while my misses was stroking his two dogs then he went on his way. The following morning we had one of the best cooked breakfasts we have ever had, this was served to us and we think cooked by a guy called Pete. We came to this conclusion from looking at the website. Anyway if this was Pete he gave us the same warm welcome as Beth and also had a laugh with us. They are obviously skilled at what they do as they read the room very well. We will definitely be returning to visit and are actually looking to meet up with some family there next year. In conclusion; clean, tidy, modern but still feels authentic. Lovely atmosphere great staff and lovely food.

We chose the Sun Inn for a family meal for 12 last night. All arrangements and requests were carried out to perfection and we can't fault any aspect of our special evening in Bedfordshire. Our Farmers Table dinner was delivered with professional efficiency by the lovely team, with the needs of every diner attended to with a smile. Well done - fabulous food locally sourced - a great selection of drinks, outstanding service, all in all triumph and a credit to all involved. The Sun Inn at Felmersham is a fine example of a characterful and atmospheric rural pub run with genuine charm and enthusiasm.

Wonderful place to stay Beautiful accommodation with very comfortable bed, great bed linen, amazing bathroom with great shower, really nice soap, shampoo etc Main bedroom had a fabulous free standing copper bath which looked fabulous , bath robes hanging nearby living room has sofa which converted into great double bed fridge in living room was full of items we could use - water, juice, milk etc which was a really nice supplies breakfast was totally delicios

A lovely find. Had a delicious Sunday lunch with friends. Was a little sceptical after seeing the small menu but it became clear this was because everything was fresh and thought about. Particularly enjoyed the pink beef!

Took some friends for Sunday lunch as a thank you for help they've given us. Have been numerous times for the evening Farmers Table and really enjoyed it but this was our first lunchtime visit. I'm sad to report that it was particularly poor! The pub was busy but not overly so and we ordered a selection of roasts. I took the beef and found the Yorkshire to be undercooked, really doughy in the middle and the beef itself lacked flavour. We get better from the supermarket. And as for the gravy, no way was this lovingly prepared; it was like water and tasted like it too. Really unpalatable. I was so disappointed and embarrassed having bigged the Sun up to my friends beforehand. I'll not be going for lunch there again any time soon.

The Sun Inn stands out as one of the finest gastro pubs and family-run hotels in the English countryside. As Italians with a deep appreciation for good food, we strongly recommend this place. We had an extraordinary Sunday roast and a delightful stay in the 'Dawn' suite. Pete and his staff were exceptionally welcoming from start to finish, making our experience truly memorable. We genuinely couldn’t recommend this place more. 5 STARS

Went for Sunday lunch for a 60th birthday. The atmosphere, service and food were excellent. It was definitely the best Sunday lunch any of us have had before. Beautiful setting 🌟

I went for a Sunday roast with friends and we had the roast which was very good especially the lamb nice and tender, but above all I loved the ambience of like being at home. Good service too 👍

All too brief stay at this lovely pub - a perfect location to stay for the Palmer Sport activity day. Food was delicious and staff were really lovely. Room had some very nice touches and was very comfortable. Would have liked to have stayed for longer.

Me and my family ordered 3 different dishes (pork loin, curried goat and beef burger) and they were all really good quality in my opinion. The staff were welcoming, the atmosphere was compelling and the food was top notch. Couldn't recommend more.

Had a fantastic couple of nights staying in the Dawn suite. Fresh milk in the fridge, a good range of teas and some snacks. Nice coffee pods available. Pete and the rest of the team were super friendly. We ate in the dining room on the Friday night and as we had a couple of older people in our party, we were allowed to have ‘From the Hatch’ menu although the tasting menu looked good. Would definitely stay again.

We visited the restaurant on a Saturday night, stayed in one of the upstairs rooms and had breakfast, all of it was first class. We arrived mid afternoon and sat in the pub enjoying an acoustic duo perform in a really vibrant village pub Afternoon Snack massive sourdough garlic bread and chips. Evening Meal lovely menu and well balanced with local produce and good portions, stand outs were the Halibut and Asparagus Breakfast best cooked breakfast I have had for months, amazing bacon, hash browns, sausages and black pudding. Rooms stayed in Dusk room which although was second choice it was still really good. The quality of build and was A1 and amazing attention to detail on all the finishes.

Had a wonderful one night stay at The Sun Inn. We stayed in the 'Dusk' room and although compact, it is beautifully appointed, super cozy with quality fixtures and fittings, bedding and decor. We arrived in the afternoon and decided to have a few drinks in the bar where there was some great live music, a good atmosphere and the food from The Hatch was amazing - the best garlic sour dough bread I've ever tasted! Later on for dinner we had The Farmers Table tasting menu, of which every course was delicious. The service was great throughout our stay. All of the staff were really friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast the following morning was also fabulous. Needless to say, we left the pub with extremely full bellies. The local seasonal food at this pub was absolutely delicious and would satisfy the heartiest of appetites! If you like great food, good accommodation and a friendly service, try this place!

A cracking pub with amazing, local, seasonal food. Inside there is a traditional pub feel, with great options on the beer taps. The outdoor space is great too, we’ve enjoyed Sunday roast in the garden many time.

Beautifully refurbished. We enjoyed a great roast beef lunch which was hearty and tasty, perfect for a mid point stop on a nice country walk.

Best pub in Bedfordshire!!! Friendly staff as soon as you go in, you can see the regulars are all treated like family and no matter who you are you’re welcomed into the pub. We had the tasting menu in the dining room and it is OUT OF THIS WORLD! Every single course tasted incredible and you can see how much the chefs put love and care into good tasting food. £55 may seem like a lot for a set menu at first glance… but when you get 5 fantastic courses in a gorgeous little restaurant that taste that good, it’s well worth every penny. Great to go out for friends or treat yourself to a date night.

Our 1st visit on Sunday . Lady in checked top was incredibly welcoming. I had lamb roast wifey had beef roast . Food was great value and tasted Fantabulosa. We ate at a seat within bar area no problem, atmosphere was also very comfortable.

Wow! This place is absolutely incredible! We had a reservation in the restaurant for the tasting menu and it was absolute perfection. Our expectations were exceeded, every single course we had was so delicious and rich. The presentation of every dish we received was stunning and you could instantly tell that there is an extreme amount of care and passion that goes into every single one! The service from the staff was terrific, so attentive in making sure we had a wonderful experience and that every need was catered for. The restaurant itself had such a warm and cosy ambience that instantly made you feel comfortable. I would absolutely recommend coming to The Sun Inn for a beautiful dinner! What an absolute gem in a quaint little village!

Went there last thursday for quick dinner from The Hatch witch was outstanding and i decide spend the rest of the evening in the warm atmosphere.I decide come Back on Sunday for roast i have had beef roast and this was my Best sunday lunch i ever had. We have dined at The Sun Inn many times now, and am always so impressed with the incredible food presented to me. The farmers table menu is outstanding and is amazing value for money. The changing menu always leaves you wanting to come back the following month, to try the culinary delights that are created at this beautiful village pub. The hatch menu which is served Wednesday to Saturday, is perfect for dinner on your own or as a larger group. The food is always at its best and seasoned to perfection. Overall a great place to go for a casual drink, a great value meal or the farmers table menu, for when you fancy something extra special or to celebrate an occasion.

This is my local. Many villagers are unhappy with the sudden price increases and lowering of standards. Tonight was the 4th time I have been unable to eat my meal due to over seasoning. Interesting that they never have salt or pepper on the tables… perhaps they already know! Perhaps it is hiding more…. They used to provide a decent Sunday roast, though overpriced, but now the menu change dictates a minimum of 2 courses on Sunday for £24 and Thurs-Sun is £55 minimum. Other days are food from a van at the back, on plastic plates and still go for £18-24! A total piss-take!

Absolutely wonderful Sunday lunch. Great choice of meats - our table had the pork belly & lamb, both locally reared & delicious. It’s the best pub roast we’ve had in a very long time. We hadn’t booked but were lucky to find space in the bar which is a lovely space too. The staff were all extremely friendly, big shout out to Sarah who served us! Will definitely return soon.

This is an absolute gem in Felmersham, I have to say! Me and family come week and week out after having such a wonderful time, the staff are extremely friendly and gorgeous food- well priced too!! A really warm and welcoming atmosphere, I would reccomend it to anyone who’s looking for somewhere to try or something to eat :)

The change of menus and the lack of choice is very disappointing. We always visited with friends and family, but we won't be returning whilst the poor menu choices are available.

The Sun is not a traditional pub and my ratings reflect that it wasn't exactly to my taste. Having said that as a modern take it was well done. The food was nice, quite expensive for what we had. The food was ordered from a trailer in the back yard and then collected when ready. The decor was sparse which made the bar echo.which in turn meant I couldn't hear that well, a reflection on my poor hearing rather than the decor. I don't want to do The Sun a disservice because they were doing what they do very well it just wasn't floating my boat.

Had dinner with 10 family members. One member had steak and said it was the best steak he had ever had. Others and lamb and said the lamp was exceptional. Food was cooked to perfection with good quality cuts of meat.

Love the Sun. Lovely destination pub. The food is great. We had game stew and it was really nice. It’s not cheap but it’s representative of the quality. I absolutely love the decor in there. Very nice.

Being one of the more frequently booked musicians here at The Sun, naturally, I can certainly recommend their live music nights! 🤠 But that alone could be perceived as a cop-out. My partner and I have been meaning to dine at The Sun for a while, and at long last, we did so on Saturday. The menu is fixed and served in rounds. Much in the same way as fine dining, but with much more rustic, generous and, dare I say, DELICIOUS portions! 😋 Waiting staff check in with you beforehand to see if you want to make any changes or skip/add courses. My partner is coeliac and successfully catered for her with no mistakes. The menu changes seasonally, I believe, so no two dining experiences will be the same. Also, fun fact: the fish-shaped receptacles on the table are not decorative vases, but are in fact the water jugs! They also make delightful glugging noises when you pour them. It should amuse any young children in your dining party! You can always be guaranteed of a wonderful experience here at the Sun Inn at Felmersham, be it for lodging, pub experiences or dining. You can bet we'll be back before long! ✅️

Cosy decor. Friendly staff and a good range of beers. BUT the food was inedible. Both my mother-in-law and I couldn’t eat our food. I ordered a hog roast in a bap. Firstly, it was cold. Then I think it was reheated. Shame, as the team were lovely.

Absolutely love this place and have visited many times. We made a weekend of it this time around and stayed in one of the new rooms at the pub.They have been beautifully decorated with lots of touches making the rooms feel luxurious. Would definitely stay again! We tried the new menu during our stay and thoroughly recommend it as well - the food tasted amazing (especially the prawns) and such good value for money! The staff are so welcoming and service was great. We asked for wine recommendations to go with the new menu, and these went really well with the food. This place is an absolute gem and just wish we lived closer so we could visit more often!

We had a wonderful weekend stay and dinner at the Sun. Were lucky enough to book the large room which was fantastic, the quality and attention to detail give a real 5 star feel. We had the 5 course tasting menu in the restaurant downstairs and it was the best meal we’ve had for a long time! A lovely warm welcome and great service throughout, we were even lucky enough to meet the owners! I really couldn’t fault it and will definitely be back!

Best dining out experience I’ve had in a very long time. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Food is locally produced and executed perfectly by a chef who clearly knows what he’s doing. Only wish I lived a little closer and could frequent more often. Pub dining experiences like this are becoming harder and harder to find. Will definitely return and stay in the rooms upstairs.

We had a Wednesday night dinner here & thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were so lovely, answering any questions we had, being attentive, friendly & never pushy. Portions were generous, especially considering the absolute quality of the ingredients and flavourful dish produced! Really Devine flavours. We had the fish special & their classic rotisserie chicken (partner obsessed with the gravy!) + garlic bread, finished with the fig dessert to share. They catered well to my Coeliac disease, aware of cross contamination in fryers etc, the chef had anotated the menu which options were completely Gluten free (Coeliac safe) & separately which were 'gluten free' but shared fryers with gluten containing foods (not Coeliac safe). There were plenty of Coeliac safe options for me to choose from on main menu & specias menu. All was well. The menu is small but has a few classic staples like burger & their chicken, plus a few more adventurous dishes (rabbit, goat & octopus were on ours I believe). Menu seems quite seasonal. We sat in the restaurant which was beautifully decorated. The garden looked far more extensive than we thought having walked past, with a covered & uncovered area. Super popular pub restaurant, & rightly so. Highly recommend pre-booking a table. Have recommended to family and friends. Thanks so much to the staff

From the moment you step through the door a warm welcome greets you. Great choice of beers, wine and ales plus a fabulous menu. We ordered at 9pm and our server informed us that one of dishes had run out, however an alternative was presented and it was delicious! Definitely worth a revisit!

I came with a group of friends and had the best time ever! the atmosphere was that of a small village pub but the restaurant was a beautiful dining experience. compliments to the chefs in the kitchen as i can say all the food we ordered was above par and something that i would recommend to anyone! if you ever get the chance to dine here then take it. 100% best food in bedfordshire and surrounding areas.

Very disappointing sunday lunch, and ordered beef, which came on a rather cold plate . Veg arrived couple of seconds later piled on an equally cold soup plate . Surprised at being given a steak knife for roast beef! The beef was extremely hard to cut let alone eat and vegetables were cool! to say the least. Must say the Yorkshire pudding and gravy were very tasty, we declined a sweet and are unlikely to visit again. Our dog was very pleased with his "doggy bag " beef addition to his supper

The staff were very helpful and the food was excellent and good value. We enjoyed our lunch on a very hot day. We chose not to sit outside but were given a table just beside the open doors, which was perfect.

Didn't eat at the Sun so may need to update my 5* but looked good. The interior seems redone recently but still felt olde English and charming. My wife remarked 'one of the nicest pub interiors I've seen'. 2 pumps on and a row of fizzy taps, beer was decent and a fizzy cider will go down well on sunny day. 3 flavours of crisps (as no chef at the point we went in) is ok. Young lads behind the bar let me try a mouthful as well as poured the beer well. Overall we will be returning to ensure this score is maintained. 😁

If you’re looking for great food, great service and brilliant; friendly staff. This is the place for you. Locally sourced ingredients across the whole menu and this really shows. The sun is definitely one of if not the most reasonably priced restaurant/ pub around for both food and drinks. Great selection of drinks with many different specials changing regularly shows how popular this pub is and rightly so.

It was okay. Food was tasty, not much choice to choose from. Its either roast or...a roast. 3 starters didn't appeal to any of us and the panna cotta was disappointing. Lovely staff though. We wouldn't return.

We visited the area for a wedding and were welcomed at the pub with exceptional hospitality and the friendliest of welcomes. The food was gorgeous, delighted they were catering for the wedding too! What a fantastic team, so friendly and hard working! Highly recommended!!

An amazing pub. Beautifully renovated. Fantastic food and atmosphere. This is a classic top of the range pub worth travelling to. It’s menu is small but don’t be put off. So well thought out and beautifully cooked steak.

We visited the Sun yesterday with some friends for Sunday lunch. You feel a fantastic warm, friendly atmosphere as soon as you walk in the door. Great choice of draught beers and spirits are available and the staff are efficient and obviously enjoy working here....

Enjoyed an absolutely knock out meal for one on Thursday night. Delicious octopus starter - and the rotisserie chicken for main - life affirming food!!! I absolutely had no room for dessert but scoffed the lot. Cannot wait to return. X

We had the most delicious Sunday roast here beef rump was perfectly medium rare and very tasty and my hubby enjoyed the goat. It is excellent quality produce cooked with care and served by friendly and knowledgeable staff. They use Koffman potatoes (if you’re a foody you’ll know about these) which says a lot! Gorgeous gravy and fresh veg…… My only positive handy tip would be to revise the wine list and have some more affordable choices as the food is great value for money but the wines are a bit pricey and top-end. Also a couple of tables with comfier chairs - the church ones are a great look but not easy on the derrière! Thanks for a great experience and we will return soon

What a gem of a village pub. We had a lovely Sunday roast in the bar area on Mothers Day Ad hoc. Guy behind the bar was spot on with accommodating us and super chilled. Great atmosphere and it would definitely be our regular if we lived there.

We have just had the most delicious Sunday roast lunch in the wonderful Sun at Felmersham. This pub has just undergone a full renovation and offers a really traditional ‘locals drinking pub’ environment, as well as a really nice restaurant area, which in the summer...
