Lovely little find on the way to the airport. Great fresh food, drinks a-plenty available and super down to earth staff who won’t let you down 🤘🏻

Family of 7 for Fathers Day. Excellent meal! Roast dinner was lovely. Amazing roast potatoes and lots of lovely hot gravy. Finished the meal with some delicious desserts. Biscoff Sundae, Elton Mess Sundae and scrumptious Sticky Toffee Pudding. Staff were friendly and very welcoming.

This place is lovely. I've been here once before buy. I can't remember it from way back when. (This time) I went with a friend as they wanted to go somewhere other than my local (although we did after anyway, so go figure) as they've always driven past but never gone in and it's quaint. They have a massive beer garden with loads of tables, a pool room, and an arcade room. It looks great. The price for drinks is slightly on the high side, but as a one-off, it's fair enough. The only reason that I didn't give a five-star review was because. 1: Where we went inside and sat, it's a very compact space and very loud to the point that you couldn't hear the person in front of you without leaning in, the 2nd reason is, it just lacks something, I can't think what but there is something subconsciously that it doesn't have. The staff (only seemed to be one) was lovely, looked a bit worn out, but there were about 30 people backwards and forwards for what seemed a while, so I don't blame her. I have heard the food is really good, but I can't comment as I haven't had any. Definitely will go back and try one day

Popped in for a drink during a walk. Pub garden was in a terrible state. Excuse was no staff to clean this area. I'm sorry but you let the place down with your attitude. This pub is not for me. Doesn't look very clean

Really lovely pub, with separate dining and bar area. First time we've visited and we really enjoyed our food and the calm atmosphere of the restaurant. I'd say the only thing that let's it down is that the toilets need doing up. But other than that, 5* all round and we'll definitely be back.

The 'dreadful' review online from 2015 needs to be deleted. We went there twice this,week, as a couple, and as a family. Service was very good, food was good and reasonably priced. Beer was a good choice, especially real ale, Timothy Taylors Landlord etc. A friendly pub atmosphere, well worth a decent review. Don't knock it until you have tried it. We will definitely be going back, and I'd suggest that you go back too. Support a decent local pub. It's obvious that they are striving to get better, every day.

Visited for Sunday lunch with a friend. Food was absolutely delicious- and perfect roast potatoes- so important for a Sunday roast and often a challenge to get !!😋 Staff were lovely and so friendly Definitely visit again.

Great food and service, can’t fault it!

Popped along to this quaint little village pub for their Burns night special this evening. Cannot fault any part of their service, presentation or the quality of the fare. The mains were delicious and just the right amount, with a beautifully smooth mash, lightly seasoned neeps, wonderful tasting haggis and a thoroughly delicious whiskey sauce. Great effort! Highly recommend visiting this absolute gem in the heart of the Cambridgeshire countryside. Friendly staff, great value, lovely atmosphere. Separate rooms for bar and dining making it the perfect place for a pint and/or a plate. Their Sundaes (pictured below) are the icing on the cake when it comes to a proper finish to a meal, and the frangipan is an absolute delight of a sweet treat.

We love the food at The White Horse, the pizzas are amazing and the specials are always fantastic quality. Also the best chips I've ever had! The desert options are to die for. They also have some great gluten free options eg GF carbonara which was delicious. The staff are so friendly as well, they always have time for a chat :)

I was part of a group who joined together for a Christmas dinner celebration. Some had two course, others had three courses. Different people had different dishes, not all traditional turkey or Christmas pudding. Some had vegetarion some had meat. But we all enjoyed tasty, well prepared and cooked food. There was a good choice of alchoholic and non-alchoholic drinks. The lounge bar area we were given was spacious, clean and well laid out. The staff were friendly, cheerful and helpful and served us well. We were allowed to take our time with each course and staff were available as and when extra drinks were requested. Christmas crackers with hats, trivia, charades etc were supplied and we had a cracking time!. £35 per person for three courses, £25 for two. Three hours of enjoyment!

Lovely homey pub with great food, great service and friendly staff. Nothing is ever too much for them, they're always happy to help. Good value for money too. Kid & dog friendly. Large outdoor area with a small kids play area (outside). Function room available for hire. Limited parking out front but usually not a problem to find a space. 10/10 would recommend!

What a great pub, the atmosphere was filled with laughter, people chatting away over a drink or something to eat. I enjoyed my meal and dessert 10/10. The staff were nice and friendly and made you feel welcome. I definitely recommend this place to dine out.

Booked a Christmas lunch, just want to say the food was excellent, ordered the soup, which was so full of flavour, the beef wellington class, the cheese cake very nice, worth the money, wish they were open this Sunday as i would take my wife

We have just returned from having our works Christmas Lunch and WOW! It was absolutely amazing from start to finish. There was 10 of us and the food was brilliant and having been on several Christmas lunches, it was the best we have ever had. Everything was fresh, the Beef Wellington - WOW is all I can say. Was absolutely brilliant. Service was outstanding and we were very well looked after. Thank you!

We were served the food of another table. Waited 70min for our food, only to find a hair in it. The "menu" is a black board that does not have prices listed.

Sunday lunch here today was the best Sunday lunch I’ve had in the Cambridge area since I moved here 18 months ago. Very good rare beef with excellent vegetables. Great Italian ice cream to finish off with. Service as always great. The chef came highly commended from the folk at Willingham Wheelers. Great recommendation, thank you.

Very nice people, food ok not an extensive menu certainly good for family's. Would recommend it.

We visited here as a last minute meal. Place looks nice. Service was good and friendly. Food was reasonably priced for a Sunday Lunch. The only problem was the food - we had two beef roasts and a nut roast option. I can not comment on the nut roast taste wise but it didn’t look like any I have seen before. The beef roast was poor really in taste and look. The beef was ok however the veg was terrible , roast potatoes that had been reheated and seemed to have an outer case to them and the veg was over cooked but was cool. The gravy was vegetarian but had herbs in which was overpowering. We were asked if everything was ok and in a typical English way we said it was ok then when we left discussed the food and all agreed it did not meet our expectations by along. We would never say we wouldn’t return but maybe leave it a while food wise.

We booked five days ahead for four persons, we were asked “do any of your party have any dietary needs”, so good so far. We arrived, no tables set for dinner, “sit where you like”. They take our drinks order then present two menu’s one for pizza and one for snacks. Not what we had expected!!!! From your website!!! No notification that there was no main menu to choose from. You had our contact number!! After an hour the live music starts up and we can no longer make conversation. We pay the bill (over £90) and we leave. As we pass the window the staff behind the bar are seen laughing at our complaint. How disgusting is that !!

We went for a Sunday lunch for mother's day, and were very disappointed with this pub. The food took over an hour to come (without any acknowledgement or apology) and then was luke warm, poor quality (tasted like it had sat around for hours), small portions and one of the veggie meals was under cooked. When we mentioned this after the meal, the supervising waitress was rude and accused us of not mentioning it earlier. To be fair they did take the undercooked meal off the bill and offer a drink, but it felt very begrudging! For the portion sizes, it was overpriced. The child's meal was well overpriced too. The young waiting staff were nice and helpful, but needed to be better trained in some areas. For example when we got the bill they only gave us two chocolates for a table of 7. Finally, given it was mother's day - it would have been nice to have some little touches for the mothers to make it feel a bit special. Maybe it was an off day, but we will not be returning.

Last minute booking made just an hour in advance. Amazing friendly and efficient service. Choice of three different roasts, Roast Pork and Beef tried out by the two of us. The Carpaccio of Smoked Salmon starter was nicely presented and dressed with tiny pickled beetroots and pealed orange segments. These cut through and complimented the fat of the salmon really nicely. The Beef Bourguignon that followed was absolutely superb. Beautifully braised beef that fell apart, on a bed of super smooth and creamy mash and a rich sauce with shine that was packed with flavour and depth. The sprinkling of silver onions and chanterelle mushrooms added a nice edge to the richness. One of the very best I've tasted and I spend a lot of time in France. I understand the kitchen has only been open a few weeks, but on the basis of this visit we will be going back and look forward to seeing the menu develop with the seasons.

Great ambiance and welcome. Great beers and sensible menus. We enjoyed the 4 tops and War Pigs pizzas. Under new management but in expert hands. We wish this pub all the best in its comeback.

Excellent meal out in what is a lovely pub. The food was excellent (the beef bourguignon was an exquisite dish - so much flavour!), the staff amazingly friendly and the atmosphere was great. Definitely somewhere we'll be coming back to again

We went there for a meal with 3 small dogs the food was delicious it was a bit noisy because we had the dogs with us we had to sit in the bar and not the restaurant which would have been quieter but it was November so it was to cold to sit in the garden out the back but the food was great and the staff were very helpful as 2 of us also had to have gluten free food we will be happy to go back again

Dropped in on the way back home. We thought we would break the journey up by dropping in to a pub for lunch. What a great pub. We felt at home right from the start. Lovely atmosphere. The staff couldn't be better. We hadn't book for dinner but they squeezed us in. We are definitely booking next time we travel past. The food was good with a quick service the beer was good Wish I didn't have to travel or I'd be propping up the bar all day.

Open on Google maps, but in reality it was shut. For the third time when it says it is open on Google and on the painted sign outside.

There's been comments about the food and heating, but in truth we've all put up with issues like these in our local pubs before. I think there is a greater concern. I'm suspicious of many of the reviewers who claim that the owners of this pub are very friendly. To be honest, I can't think of anyone I know that hasn't been spoken to rudely and even intimidated by the landlord at least once and many of these people have never returned. His vibe would probably be a good fit for the kind inner city pub where the discourse frequently straddles the line between banter and abuse, but in a lovely village community, this just wont wash.

Great takeaways in this tough period

The whole pub has become very safety-centric during this pandemic, and it hasn't detracted from the atmosphere or the character. Kudos to the White Horse team for doing so well with such a horrendous situation. I would recommend anyone local to the Swavesey area to visit and help support this wonderful pub!

Second time having a takeaway and was as amazing as the first one. Friendly and welcoming, food was very hot and tasted great. Hubby and the Lad had a burger again and i tried the pizza which was great, the in laws had the fish and said it was one of the best they have had. We will be back for another takeaway and will definitely be in when the restaurant reopens. Thank you

Stayed overnight at Travelodge and needed an evening meal.We both ordered fish and chips and the portions were HUGE. The food was good and though the place was busy service was quick. Nice place, great staff.

Friendly service, very decent food. The atmosphere in the back yard when it was empty on a cloudy day was a bit dull - would have been nicer to be in spot where you can watch the world go by, but all in all a good experience.

Typical spit and saw dust. Sports on TV and some great ales and lagers for the gentleman. Great gin variety too

Shown to our table, and then just left. Wasn't told until we asked that we had to order at the bar! Food was good but wasn't asked if we wanted more drinks when our food arrived. Seemed more interested in talking to people in the bar. This was our second visit doubt we will be going again. Agree with another reviewer the atmosphere is awkward

Great local village pub in lovely local setting in Swavesey Market Street.

We were visiting the area and booked for an early evening meal 6.30. There was one other table with 2 adults and three children in use. Their order was taken first then ours. I do not think ours was even started until after the other table had had theirs served due to the wait we had. My partner and I had ordered steak. When the meal arrived we had to ask for steak knives and there were no onion rings. Apologies were given but another wait for them to be cooked. My steak was reasonable but my partners was over cooked and full of gristle. Most of the chips were not cooked. We both asked for no peas. The meal came with a half tomato and ONE mushroom. We did complain to the waiting staff about it all and they offered to go to the chef but we decided against this as we had waited too long and needed to leave. Very poor although the waiting staff were polite and apologetic.

We recently visited the White Horse in Swavesey for a works celebration and they put on a fantastic BBQ for us! There were around 30 of us in total who attended and Darren & Shelley were really accommodating. They provided us with a selection of meats, salads and there was plenty to go around for everybody. The staff were really polite and proactive and got us served quickly! Would definitely recommend them, and the price was great too. Thanks Darren & Shelley!

Stopped into the Pub for a "pint" and directions to our next stop. Was greeted warmly by the staff and owners, who were so friendly and engaging, we stayed for some time ... they answered all our questions, and made us feel so welcomed. What a fantastic young couple (owners) ... they will do well ... perfectly suited to the hospitality industry. Kudos to them!

This pub which the last I visited look to be closing. But someone has done a really good job of refurbishing it.

Took my wife & daughter for a meal last night (Friday). The food was excellent. We loved the mushrooms starter, & the Hunters chicken main course was absolutely delicious. Sadly we couldn't manage a sweet as we were so full! The waitress was very friendly, & very efficient. As for the beer - great choice of real ales. Fortunately my wife was driving!

Came here for lunch this week with some work colleagues it’s a short trip from the office and does a decent spread of food.Ate in the Dining area this time really good lunch the burgers were excellent all the food was plentiful and good value. Great staff we tend to preorder to keep to a lunch break but they clearly get it ready but then cook some bits fresh when you get there never feels like it’s been set under a grill.Good choose of beers and ales as well, one side is a proper pub feel and one side is a nice dining area, welcoming friendly staff, all good really.
