Great pub, great food and great service and really like the decor too. Food was so good and fresh. It was quiz night the night we went and it was a great atmosphere. Like being in someone's front room. We joined in the quiz although we are not quizzers but made to feel part of it thanks to the quiz master. Don't know her name but she was great. Had a fabulous evening. Thanks to all at the White Horse

Visited on a wet Monday lunch time and was a great experience the food was imense the steak was so tender and my nans lasagne was spot on did a smaller portion for her which was fully appreciated,the food was all fresh and along with the homemade crumble and sticky pudding was all great value for money.The service was spot on by a young blond lady who was so sweet and nothing wasn't to much trouble for her and generally seemed to enjoy her job which makes a difference,also when leaving we got a warm goodbye and thankyou which makes the difference.The place was clean with the toilets being well maintained and great decoy in the whole of the place.This place is i definitely will visit again as booking a Christmas party here and would recommend it with great food and service that goes the extra mile would make anyones day even on a wet,cold Monday

We had a very pleasant lunch here on our way to Devon. There was a great choice on the menu. I opted for pork medallions in a mustard sauce and my husband had the burger. Both meals were tasty and the service was quick and friendly. The log fire was burning well, giving a warm atmosphere. We ate in the bar, as we had our dogs with us. The pub is very welcoming to pets and had od treats and blankets available.

Lovely food, we attended for breakfasts, lunches and dinners whilst staying at an Airbnb nearby. Not only was the food excellent, so was the service. The staff, without exception, were extremely helpful aiding those of us with mobility issues and being very welcoming. We were very lucky to have found The White Horse when we do not come from the area.

Called into this delightful pub whilst visiting Bradford-on-Tone church today (which is opposite the pub) after it was recommended by a couple of the locals there to me. Receiving a friendly welcome by the Barmaid, served an ice-cold cider - which was just bliss in the mid-day sun, and ordered the beef & stilton sandwich with salad. Then I sat-out in the charming beer garden watching the world pass by as I had my lunch. What else could I ask for from a pub? Friendly welcoming staff, good service, excellent food and a crisp cider to wash it down. Absolutely Perfick !

Thanks again for a lovely Sunday lunch. I had very tasty roast pork meal (massive selection of vegetables). My wife had a delicious sea bass in a cream/wine sauce. The chef kindly cooked rice because my wife doesn't eat potato. Nice touch. All in all, a great meal with very smiley service. See you again soon.

Went here for my hubbies birthday with family and friends, from arriving at the pub to leaving our experience was excellent, the food was delicious not a single complaint, the staff Pete and Maisie behind the bar and Ellie serving our food couldn’t do enough for us even singing happy birthday, would definitely recommend this lovely pub set in a beautiful location

Disappointing Sunday Lunch service. Lovely location but unfortunately the food and service let this establishment down. Late to be served, food Luke warm, roast chicken was a anaemic chicken fillet, roast potatoes dry and had not seen the roasting tin for long enough, just all under par! Staff not really interested in finding out why I pointed out it was not the best. We returned home for pudding and coffee. Shame, as it had great potential!

The worse ever fish pie. Having a lovely lunch with friends I decided to have the fish pie. When it arrived it was in a small dish, potatoes looked as though they had been chopped up and thrown on. No cheese topping. On eating I found the pie to be very and I mean very dry. The only fish I could find was burned or dry salmon. It looked as though the pie had been hanging about and had been reheated several times. The veg was obviously microwaved. Sending the meal back I was offered a free coffe, which I would not accept so had a dessert, which was not very good. On payment the fish pie was £16 the dessert was priced at £8 so that made my unedible pie costing me £8. The server said she would inform the manager, I asked how who he was and told his name was Peter and I would have to contact him on the land line. The manager could not respond to me as that time he had not contact detail. I did leave them but do not expect to hear from him. Was hoping with a change of ownership thing might have improved but sadly not, I was hoping to take friends there for lunch but it will be a very long time before I visit again, perhaps they might like to contact me so they can refund my card,

So pleased that this once wonderful pub is now back open. Fortunately the new owners haven’t altered too much of the interior and it still feels very comfortable. Our friends ordered the vegetable flan and salad, while my husband ordered the vegetable moussaka and I had the mushroom risotto. I have to say the portion size of the risotto was disappointing, as was the flavour. You could see plenty of mushrooms, but it totally lacked any flavour for some reason. My husband’s moussaka was a tad dry and once again a bit bland. Hopefully this is only a blip, because certainly the other pubs owned by The Bear serve great food. Would return to try once more, but if disappointed again will stick to the Martlet.

Fantastic Sunday lunch , everything cooked to perfection and plenty of it , great service and lovely setting/ atmosphere to boot , we’ll be back .

This was our go to pub for meals especially sunday lunch until the owners changed late 2022 where there was a deterioration of service and food. now the pub, after approx 15 months, has new owners once more this was our first meal at the pub. We booked for a Sunday Lunch and were not disappointed. the atmosphere, service, drinks and food was excellant and a welcomed return to what the pub was known for. This is still early days for the pub and albeit a limited menu atm I can certainly recommend to anyone looking for a good country pub. we will definitely we will return

The place offers good pub food in a pleasant location. The staff are friendly and helpful. The prices are typical for good pub food, including the wine.

The food was delicious but the effing and jeffing from the landlord behind the bar was not appreciated. You go out for an evening to enjoy not listen to him discussing financials of the pub and HMRC and moaning about the locals. The food couldn't be faulted but won't be rushing back

We booked a table for a family meal out celebrating a Birthday, even though none of us had been here before, and all had a lovely meal. No complaints about the food at all as was all delightful- would highly recommend ordering from the specials board. We found during our visit that the waiting staff were somewhat tired although polite, they did not have extensive knowledge of the drink selection but were quick to find out for us. The decor could also be described as tired and perhaps needs a little update; paired with going during a quiet midweek night, this made for a confused atmosphere. Regardless we'd be more than happy to go back, and hope others give it a visit.

Clearly this pub is all about the lunch trade and thats it cheap nasty frozen food, has the chef left and forgotten to close the door, went for lunch as staying local not nice, very blue rinse brigade old style food, lots of people complaining, thought maybe a one off and regrettably went back for dinner, not nice, very poor limited menu, clearly nothing homemade, had the rump steak, chewy and overcooked, chips were nasty in flavour and texture, inquired about desserts as we have an allergy to be told dont know as they are NOT homemade, trade descriptions as well then, service with a grunt, and we could here the pings from the table

We went to the White Horse with friend has we told them the menu had a great choice, unfortunately the menu has been changed and the choices reduced considerably, only eight main courses, they have taken the family favorite's of like gammon steak, ham egg and chips, lasagna and faggots, and more, the food we had was very good but the lack of choice will mean that was our last visit to the pub. what a shame.

Been here twice since it has been taken over in October 2022. Will never go there again. Food quantity was awful and the quality too. Owner very hostile. When it was owned by the Duddridge family it was excellent. Use to go every month then. Such a shame that a village pub is no longer any good

Had a lovely lunch in the garden. Beer and wines good and at a fair price. Waitress was very helpful and on the ball. Good to see the skittle alley still in use. It’s a 16th century coaching inn so great character.

My wife and i had a most enjoyable meal at the historic White Horse Inn at Bradford on Tone on Thursday evening. We were made most welcome by Paul and Natalie and their staff. The meals were excellently prepared and presented and I treated myself to a pint of Sheppy's local cider, on draft. Many locals have acknowledged that Gavin and Heather, the previous landlords, were a hard act to follow, but Paul & Natalie seem to be ironing out the early wrinkles and building up the business to be the friendly and welcoming pub it has always been. The early in the week Quiz Nights used to be well supported, so i am wondering whether they will return at some point..?

What a super find in this pretty village. Great beer garden. Friendly welcome and lovely food. Dog friendly with treats in a jar. Hope to return if and when in the area again.

We were a table of 4, previously booked. We arrived slightly early for our table on Saturday night, bar was busy and we had to wait quite a while to get anyone’s attention, when we finally did there was no record of our table booking, anyway a table was found the restaurant was not that busy and we had to ask for our table to be wiped down as it was sticky. Menus given and we were told to go to bar to order drinks, enquired about the wine list and was also told that we would have to get that from the bar. Wine list poor, ordered a bottle Pinot & a bottle Sauvignon, both we given to at the bar and weren’t chilled, so we decided to just drink beer. Menu boring, drab and it’s simple pub grub, so we ordered a Steak Rare, a Burger, 2 salmon. After 30 mins which is reasonable our food turned up, no cutlery on table, steak was nasty, burnt, overcooked not rare, and the burger was raw, both the salmons were frozen in the centre, so all meals sent back, a mumbled apology, we were offered replacements but told we had to be quick as kitchen closes shortly, we were offered ham, egg & chips, so we decided not to bother, and as we had already paid for our drinks at the bar we got up and left. We live locally and eat out at least twice a week, but sadly for us the white horse has bolted, and we won’t be going there again nor will we recommend it to our friends nor our guests as we own a large B&B locally, as did another the other couple that we were dining with…… This is a huge shame & a Pity.

What a total disappointment! Change of owners has ruined this pub. I ordered chicken Kiev which was deep fried, overcooked and dry - couldn’t eat it. Shame used to be so good, certainly will not go back!

Well to least the quality of the food was shocking and to say the food look bad and unnactactive I would prefer to pick up a whale on a night out and eat her instead will not be coming back the waiter lovely and the dishes were clean

Fantastic country side pub , had a friends wedding reception here . staff were absolutely fantastic, polite and very attentive. Food was really good. Bar area lovely and friendly, garden so well kept , Toilets etc very clean . The owners couldn’t have made the day any better for the bride / grooms party .

Lovely place to visit in a picturesque village. I don't like to be out of line with so many other reviewers, but this was our fourth and final evening meal in Taunton and was by far the poorest. My wife had the the veggie burger and chips which she said was adequate, although the chips were warm, not hot and not very crispy. This was in contrast to the Worlds End just down the road which did wonderful triple cooked chunky chips. I had a 10oz rump steak which was a real let-down. I could tell as soon as I started cutting it that it was not the best cut of meat. Very chewy and a fair amount of fat. Came with plenty of extras, onion rings, salad, mushroom, tomatoes which were tasty. Maybe I chose the wrong dish, is £18 too low a price for a quality steak? And the ketchup was not Heinz. That's a mistake.Did not stay for dessert.

Had another lovely meal at the White Horse. The specials were really nice and the starters bigger than expected (so couldn't fit in pudding!) All tables well spaced and table service for all our drinks. lovely evening, probably the last for a while!

Had lunch yesterday and the food was superb. Extensive menu and all hone cooked. The menu also caters for those who like a lighter bite. The starters and main courses had that option. They also had an excellent choice of beers. The pub is also very Covid-19 safe with all the proper precautions.

We booked for 6 people all spaced really well, all Covid security in place which was good to see. Had a very nice pie and nice evening. There is also outside space, partly covered so good for when weather is not so good.

We was recommended this Inn from 2 local police men. Due to it being very popular we could not get a table on the first evening we tried. So we booked for the following evening. A warm welcome and good home cooked food.

It's always been a good local pub with great food. Never had a bad meal. Good honest pub food with a bit of flair. I generally have the lunch time meal deal 2 courses for i think £10...great value...the fish n Chips are superb. Well cooked not soggy batter and good well cooked chips tartar sauce and mushy peas. Well trained staff and the beer is always good and well kept and local ales generally.Keep up the good work Wish it was in Taunton though then i could walk to it. Beer garden well kept and they now have outside un a canopy seating for those warm summer nights and well spaced out.

A big thank you to the White Horse. We were looking for a place for a wake and the kindly opened opened especially for us. Communication was for good from the start and a simple but very nice spread was put on e.g quality baked loaf for sandwiches, everything fresh. The pub has a nice garden in a very pleasant village setting and the staff were very friendly.

Amazing Fish and Chips from the takeaway Menu. The food was hot, chips not soggy or greasy and the batter on the fish was light and crispy. The service was quick and friendly Best takeaway we have had during the lockdown period.

Delicious family meal here. Ample menu choice for the veggies as well. Good range of specials as well as main menu choices. Service non-intrusive but efficient and friendly. Would highly recommend.

We had a very lovely evening. The staff were very attentive nothing was to much trouble. The food was well presented hot & tasty. The restaurant was clean & the tables decorated for our Christmas meal. Will be going back again.

We were made very welcome and members of staff went to a great deal of trouble to assist me, using crutches, into the dining room via a level entrance sideway. The food was very good and well priced. As usual in the West Country, the portions are generous compared with those offered in the London area.

Ventured off the M5 to find this excellent pub and enjoyed a very tasty lunch with seasonal flavours and plenty of local produce. The Specials board was a delight and made choosing even more difficult.With more time we would have been able to enjoy desserts too but will save that for our next trip down the M5

We recently ate at the White Horse Inn when staying locally in Bradford-on-Tone. The food was exceptional with large, hearty portions. The staff were kind and very welcoming. Don’t forget to book a table to avoid disappointment!

Have visited this establishment three times recently, for a meal after a Ramble.On each occasion, the majority of the group thought their meals were excellent and good value for money. I certainly agreed with the majority.Only have one Criticism and that was on our last visit, we were put in the Bar and not the Dining Room, which was a bit noisy and cramped. Still enjoyable, however.

We had a fabulous ploughman’s each (fresh bread, salad, pickle, chutney etc). Choice of 4 different meats or cheese. Sat in the beautiful beer garden. Friendly efficient staff.

We treated ourselves to a Friday lunch at The White Horse Inn and were not disappointed. Friendly staff and a stylish interior set the tone, and the food was delicious. Well seasoned, well presented and a good sized portion. We had the smoked haddock on cheesy mash, with chive sauce and a poached egg and asparagus (from the specials board). I could happily eat it every day! My husband felt that the crumb base on the cheesecake for dessert wasn't crisp enough. I think it was too thick, but perhaps it was a different take on a standard. The Lovington's ice creams were first rate, as they always are. The Inn is a short jaunt from home and we will definitely return. If you would like to try it (and you should) do book. Every time I drive past it seems very busy. A good sign if ever there was one.

The set lunch is excellent value and the quality of the food and ingredients used is 1st class. I could not fault the food or the service and will definitely visit again. For sure one of the best pubs in the area.

Popped into this lovely pub on our way home from a festival in dire need of a decent meal and were we were not disappointed. With two guest ales on tap and a number of vegetarian options we had plenty to choose from. I had the pork roast which was cooked beautifully, tender and delicious. My partner had the pistachio nut roast which was lovey, moist and flavoursome. We requested a cheeseboard for dessert as neither of us really enjoy sweets and they were happy to accommodate us although it isn't on the Sunday lunch menu. A lovely selection of cheese and a very tasty onion chutney. Sitting in the sunny, stunning beer garden we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch, highly recommended.

This is a nicely decorated, clean and friendly pub. The food was fine, but basic pub grub, reasonably priced. They offer small as well as standard versions of their meals, which was ideal for my aged mother. Well kept beer. Waitress service in the restaurant area was excellent -friendly and efficient.

Arrived at the White Horse after walking from Wellington with my friend Caroline and her dog Wilf. The pub accommodated us happily despite being busy (Saturday evening). I recommended the nut roast to my friend, I've found it consistently good. Well, she enjoyed it as much as I did! Very happy customers, excellent service, lovely atmosphere and tasty food. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Really friendly and accommodating of our vegan requirements. We had a gorgeous vegan roast followed by a vegan brownie with ice cream. Definitely want to go again, and their chef is happy to provide vegan meals if we let them know in advance.

A great pub which serves decent food. Everyone in our party enjoyed and my scampi was both plentiful and good quality. Parking is not easy , as the car park is too small, so you may need to park on the roadside.

Staying nearby in a cottage the Inn was highly recommended by the owner. We booked ahead and with the Inn crowded and busy when we arrived we were glad we did. The locals and host were welcoming and the general vibe is excellent. We chose to share the smaller tapas starter and it was all well cooked and presented. The Steak and Ale pie was a delight and my wife enjoyed her home cooked Kiev. The service is good and the food not over priced, a lovely evening and I can thoroughly recommend a visit.

We visited today with my 2 year old son it's very family friendly and the staff were very engaging with him talking and being kind. They have a varied menu for adults and children, we ordered the white horse burger and the goats cheese tart and some onion rings and my son had chips as hes a very fussy eater, the food was the best meal out we've had in a long time well cooked in fact cooked to perfection I would say, there was nothing to fault at all and we will definitely be back! I would highly recommend to anyone.

Went there for a sunday lunch with my in-laws and what can I say other than the food was by far the BEST sunday lunch. I started with the White bait and followed with the Pork and it was excellent. The service was great and the atmosphere was lovely. The dinning area was well laid out and spotless.

Met up with two friends very recently, for an evening meal. Lovely atmosphere, dining area was spotless, waitresses were excellent, food was superb!

We had the set 2 course lunch which was good value for money and the food was well prepared and tasty. The place was busy for a mid week lunch time and the atmosphere was good.

We had our work's Christmas celebration here and it was far better than any we've had anywhere else. I've found that usually Christmas meals out consist of lukewarm limp food served in a rushed way resulting in a completely unmemorable event. But this was not the case at the White Horse as the food came out piping hot including the delicious crispy roasties. Although as to be expected there was a limited choice on the menu it was enticing enough for me to choose the veggie option which was lovely and very filling. The place was beautifully decorated for Christmas too. Thank you to the White Horse for a lovely meal.

We have booked a large family table here for last 3 years for a Christmas get together and it has always been fabulous.

This place is a great pub that offers fantastic food, the quality of food and the price paid is fantastic value for money, would recommend you visit this place, be it with a friends or family, they can cater for large groups.

We went here for a meal with friends last Saturday evening to celebrate a birthday. The menu had a lot to choose from and the food was fantastic. We all chose different things from the starter, main and desert menu and none of us were disappointed. The staff were friendly and the restaurant was busy (sign of a good place).

Passing through Bradford on Tone end of July and called in on the off chance to get lunch. The waitress was very helpful and we managed to get a table. It was very busy but service was excellent. My wife had mains and a sweet I could only manage a mains . As I'm a sucker for steak and ale pie that's what I had. Excellent but a word of warning if you have the normal portion be very hungry I just about got through the small portion and I was just hungry.

I brought my Grandparents here for my Grandpas 90th Birthday at his request. Being 90, he can sometimes be a little bit of a tricked customer! The waitress was so patient with him, bringing him a selection of beers to choose from and generally being very tolerant.

First visit since moving to the area. Had family visit us so decided to try. We were extremely impressed. The restaurant was fully booked but we managed to get a table in the bar which we were a little worried about, but needn’t had been. The whole pub is so lovely and and staff are so friendly. We ordered a 3 course Sunday lunch, which is exceptional value for money. The food was delicious, in fact I would say the nicest Sunday pub roast we have had. We were all so impressed. Extremely good value, delicious scrumptious food in a lovely setting with friendly efficient staff. Would highly recommend a visit to anyone. We will definitely be returning.

What can I say, except our meal was excellent value, well presented and delicious. We had to book in advance as they do get extremely busy but was well worth it.
