We stopped here for food following a walk round Wayoh Reservoir we all had the Sunday roast which was lovely and the children had the margarita pizza. Really nice food and reasonably priced. Would recommend.

Went to White Horse on a Friday night it was quite busy so there was some atmosphere. Had fish and chips that were lovely and freshly cooked. A big negative was the other half of the experience was a huge let down and a complete no no in my opinion and this was that the Prosecco was absolutely awful. The worst I’ve tasted for a long long time! I know on the offer with 2 fish meals it’s just £10 but even so it should be better than that. A woman sitting at the side of us had paid £25 as she wasn’t eating. Get it sorted if you want to grow the business instead of killing it!

Great little place, food is a lot better since my last visit. I don’t normally Go the distant for a meal but this was worth it.

Will the barman was very attentive, straight over when he saw an empty glass and brought our drinks to table for us. Food looked and tasted amazing. The new menu, started today by new management, is excellent. We ordered black pudding with mushrooms and confit chicken terrine. Both were exceptional. Our main courses were home made cheese and onion pie with a delicious buttery pastry, chips (the best pub chips I have ever tasted), gravy and mushy peas. and stew and dumplings with delicious gravy and mash. We will definitely visit again to try more of this fine menu. This is pub food at its best.

Came today for a family meal last time I visited it was lovely! Today I had a beef dinner the beef was so tough I spit most of it out ( disgusting I know) just couldn't chew it or even cut it with my knife I did tell 2 waitresses about it but got no feed back whatsoever! Don't think I,ll be in a rush to go again

I feel saddened to have to write such a poor review for a pub in my own village. I am a huge advocate of spending my money locally and always try to where possible as I would hate for a pub or business to not succeed. We went in the white horse a few months back for a family meal, there wasn’t a soul in the place which is sad as the pub itself is lovely. We ordered our mains and drinks and waited…and waited..then a guy appeared and retook our order as they’d lost it..again we waited..20 mins passed & still no drinks so I chased them up..no order at the bar either so I reordered them & sat back down. Mains turned up, Cold and still before any drinks! Complained about the cold food and lack of drinks to which nothing happened. We ate our cold food as by now it was past 7.30pm and we had small children getting fed up. Drinks finally arrived and soon we were finished. Kids had a dessert which was probably the best part of the meal. Bill came for £75 and we left. A truly poor experience, no member of staff apologised for any inconvenience and we left feeling completely ripped off. Drink prices are far too expensive. Better food just down the road at the black bull and far more atmosphere. Sorry to write such a negative review but it’s my honest opinion based on my experience. A lot of work needs to be done with this pub sadly

Was passing the pub and saw the sign outside for 2 meals for £15 on Wednesday. Went inside ordered two drinks and looked at menu. The only lunch menu didn’t mention the offer seen outside so my husband went to the bar and enquired. He was told it was only between 5 and 7 pm and inc wine. No mention of a time outside. We ordered anyway. I ordered beef lasagne, bar man came around 5 mins later to say chef hadn’t yet prepped beef lasagne only the vegetable one. So I had that and was so disappointed! The only veg in it was a few cooked peppers, the tomato sauce had no taste and did actually taste just like a tin of tomatoes. I should have complained there and then but we had somewhere else to be, but not impressed at all. There was more veg in the side salad than the lasagne. Sorry but we won’t be returning.

My review is the letter I have sent to the pub but have recieved no response . . . as follows: Dear Sir/Madam, Before going down the trip advisor route I thought I would write to you directly to seek your views and explanation. On Wednesday 12th July myself and my partner came to your pub. We initially visited your pub on the Friday of its first week of opening. Due to a variety of reasons decided we wouldn’t visit again. However, sometime later, on a Facebook group, one of your staff (may have gone by now), said I should try again as there was some wonderful food and atmosphere to be had. Anyway, this week we thought we should give it that second try, having been to a concert earlier in the evening. Living in the village, and but a stone’s throw from you, I have seen your many, many, offers, which frankly are a turn off to me, personally, as I believe it looks desperate. However, we were about to fall foul of this as Wednesday is your £15 two steaks and a bottle of wine day. But we didn’t want a house wine or steaks so now had to pay considerably more. We arrived at the pub to find a member of staff mopping the floor. Maybe there was a spillage, who knows, but seemed unlikely under the telly in a vacant room. We were seated in a section of the pub where no-one else was; not a problem. We made a decision to order the salt and pepper platter and a couple of pints. My partner went to the bar and chose from one of the 2 ales. The lady at the bar started pulling the pint but then a ‘todo’ occurred, with I presume the manager, and this lady. He was having a go at her for having charged the wrong price for a bottle of wine. At this point, mid pint, without a word, off she went. So my partner came back. I really thought we should leave now, but he went back to find she hadn’t returned, sat again. Gave it one more try and she was there. He brought the beers back and ordered the food. The brand of beer purchased was Wainrights (I think) which I believe reads 4.1% on your pump. It certainly tasted nothing like, and more of a watered down 2.8%, but of course, I am not to know. It just tasted watered down and certainly not worthy of its £4 price. Then the food arrived. Oh my Lord!! I have never seen a platter like it! Picture attached. It was a veritable tepid dustbin lid of leftovers. Apparently everything should have been salt and pepper fried but in all honesty it was just deep fried bits with a a Chinese style sauce thrown over the top. I don’t know if this is a good or bad thing, but it had no fish fingers or goujons or whatever they were amongst this smorgasbord of deep fried brownness. All at the cost of £22! On paying we were asked if everything was okay. I said no. I said it wasn’t very good and the whole thing was tepid. And that’s it. Nothing happened. The woman was probably too frightened to lodge the complaint. I only just made it home before a stomach upset set in and my partner was similarly flatulent. I felt so sorry I had even eaten it, I felt I had needlessly eaten fried products and I hadn’t even enjoyed them, but had been hungry and something, seemed, better than nothing. I have eaten some poor food in my time, but this has to be the worst ‘platter’ (which it wasn’t), I have ever experienced. All this is such a shame. You are central to this village, you should be a buzzing hub to the place, but so often I go by and the place is empty. At least when it opened it was clean, had keen and friendly staff and service was fairly good. Now it seems grubby, uncared for, staff treated badly and frankly inadequate food. I anticipate your earliest response. Best wishes

Booked online for a Friday twice, end of May and start of June. Both times I received a telephone call last minute to say there were power issues and ghe reservation was cancelled 😐 To have the happen once is poor but understandable, the second time was seriously disappointing. To make it worse some friends informed me that they managed to eat there on the same day I couldn't.

Its a brilliant pub where I visit twice a year when we play one of the local football teams (Turton FC), the pub always puts on Fried Chicken and Halloumi Fries for the lads when we go back and they also do Heineken on draught where the pump and glasses are both frosted (A really nice refreshing pint). The only down side was that there is a parking charge for parking which can catch people out issued by Britannia Parking (boooooo), it is free to pub customers so please enter your details or speak to staff on entry. I did get caught out by this charge and had a nice letter for £100 payment being demanded, however Andrea and Mathew was very understanding and managed to reverse this fee for me. See you next season!

Actually ordered a takeaway from here last night for the first time. Thought the prices were a little high but as it's a restaurant first I expected that. Ordered 2 currys, 2 starters, nan bread and poppadoms. I never eat a full portion of curry so usually throw it away as I don't like left overs, however this was so good I ate the rest this evening. So tasty probably the best curry I've had in a very long time and the first time I have ever finished it the day after. Will be ordering again for sure.

The venue is quite visually pleasant inside. The service was average .The food was very nice but portions a little small, especially the deserts which were a touch expensive at £8. Not much else to report at this venue .The main question is would we have a return visit ? The answer is yes , its worthy of it

This is not a place for vegetarians. We were offered a vegetarian roast option…though they don’t have any meat alternatives, our waitress said this would be comprised of: ‘extra vegetables, a Yorkshire pudding and cauliflower cheese’. When it arrived, the dishes each had 2 small pieces of roast potato, two pieces of carrot and a slice of beet and a small serving of broccoli (along with the cauliflower and Yorkshire pudding). When the bill arrived, we had been charged £4 each for cauliflower cheese on top of £19.50 charge for the few vegetables and Yorkshire pudding. Another person on our table who had the roast chicken dinner paid only £18.50. When we identified the error on the bill, our waitress unfortunately became argumentative. I wouldn’t recommend this pub.
