The White Horse in Exeter

Went for a meal with the family which we all thoroughly enjoyed. Good selection of dishes all freshly cooked and excellent attentive waiters/waitresses. This is proper pub food unlike so many other establishments which serve frozen reheated muck for the same price.

Extensive menu and a few interesting specials. It is reliably good for both quality and service levels and even when busy they cope pretty well. Probably one of the best for outdoor tables too.

We zijn hier geweest voor dinner en het was erg teleurstellend. De verse gamba s waren kleine gefrituurde balletjes. Niets vers aan. Het vlees was van lage kwaliteit, het is meer een soort veredelde snackbar. De patatjes waren lekker en de dames in de bediening aardig.

This was definitely a 5 star rating from us. A group of 30 of us went last night we did pre order our food but have to say the food was spot on and the service was brilliant. We asked for the children's food to come out with the starters and the children were so happy with the food. The adult meals were really tasty. We will definitely be booking for next year. Nice pub, good welcome but the chicken madras was awful. Watery, tasteless and expensive. Naan bread was budget quality. Would not return.

Lovely bright area. Nice flowers from the roadside. Called in on Father’s Day on the off chance after visiting friends and will definitely be back! Convenient forBicton Park which we are members of! Lovely roast dinner. Friendly staff and dog friendly! Beautiful outside new area and children’s play area.

4 of us came for an evening meal. The pie was very nice. The catch of the day was just awful. Dry new potatoes, undercooked wedges of carrot, no sauce or butter on any of it. One of our party wanted nachos but when they discovered it was just tortilla and chill without any guacamole, sour cream etc, that wasn't an option. The anaemic lasagne looked and tasted as though it had been cooked last week and microwaved. It didn't come with any salad. The whole meal was very disappointing and pricey!

Just visited this lovely place, from start to finish absolutely brilliant. The staff were professional and polite, the menu was extensive lots of choice. The food was delicious and presented well. Also covid safe and very clean. Excellent value for money.

We managed to get a family get together after lockdown. The food was exceptional, we had whitebait and scallops wrapped in bacon, which were enormous and very very tasty. Main course were the gammon, the turkey and ham homemade pie and vegetables which was outstanding and was packed with delicious filling. The steak was cooked to perfection. We found the meal to be good value and in a nice safe COVID setting.

Absolutely faultless from start to finish this is a must visit when in the area steak gammon lasagne brilliant well done

We pre-booked our table and were seated immediately. The restaurant is very large, so social distancing is easy. The food was nice. A good choice.

Very smart and well decorated pub.Good menu choices - all requirements catered for - and they will even adjust the portion sizes to suit.Local suppliers are acknowledged on their website which is nice to see.Dad and I stayed at Alpine Park, just down the road, last week and ate here 4 days out of the 6.The staff must be sick of the sight of us and they know exactly what we want - 2 portions of Stilton fried Mushrooms please - YUMMY !!!This is the third year we've stayed nearby and always come here to eat.Thank you to the lovely, accommodating staff and chef for giving us fab food night after night and for making us feel safe with all the new measures in place.We'll see you again next year

Booked a meal at short notice and we were promptly seated outside. To gain attention you text the table number which is quite a neat idea. Starter of Calamari was nice and a good sized portion. Main course crab salad was a bit too leafy but overall a nice meal out.

Went for lunch today.Good COVID awareness and felt safe where seated.Whitebait starter very nice. Main Courses:Sea bream good and veg but a very large portion.Scallops in bacon tiny portion (5) for main course and salad consisted of nothing but leaves,So for full price of £17.50 very expensive.So mixed review be careful what you choose!

We booked to go here on the "eat out to help out scheme" whilst on holiday.On arrival the restaurant was quite busy but we were seated quickly and the front of house staff were excellent _ smiling and helpful.One of us had a starter, _ stilton and garlic mushrooms which were tasty and enjoyable being g "bought in" and deep fried from frozen, I guess.For a main course we ordered a "pie of the day" which was duck and a crab salad.Both the mains had very little flavour / extremely bland, and after a few mouthfuls it was clear that neither of us was going to clear our plates.We let the waitress know about the issue and she was understanding and very pleasant. We decided not to order a sweet, paid the bill in full and were out in under an hour.I dont know who was in the kitchen but I would challenge them to taste items from the menu they are offering and giving some thought to what they are sending out.Based on our experience we would not eat here again and could not recommend it to others

We managed to get a table to enjoy the 'Eat out to help out' scheme and had heard good things about the steaks. The safety precautions all seemed very sensible and the pub had a good busy atmosphere. The waiting staff were friendly and attentative and serving was at a good pace, not too long or too short between courses. The steaks were indeed tasty and perfectly cooked, five stars for those. The meal was good pub food rather than gastro delight based on everything else. Presentation was limited to 'it's on the plate', the chips were fine, would have expected chunky chips or something slightly better standard, maybe a salad to aid presentation? The starters were fine, but bread with no butter was a bit of an oversight. Puddings were enormous. If you are looking for excellent steaks and good portions then this is the place to go but Gastro delight it is not. The 7oz fillet was £25 plus £2.50 for the sauce, which seemed a bit top end for the overall experience.

We stopped for lunch! WINNER! The food was great and we had choice! My wife is gluten free and she rarely gets a selection. Here it was epic. Seriously thank you it makes a difference. We will come again.

Myself a friend and not forgetting our Catherine any steps darling We called into this amazing pub whilst passing through to be told that they were fully bookedI just smiled said I was hungry and homeless the staff all smiled I liked this they all had a fantastic sense of humour I then heard a voice say that they would accommodate us The scene on entering was like an audition for love island all the staff we’re beautiful smart and most pleasant The waitress came was most efficient took our drinks order then the food orderThe service was fast we all had a steak it was hot tasty and plentiful We would without a doubt highly recommended this beautiful modern clean restaurant with the most beautiful kind caring staff who went above and beyond to make sure our visit was memorable Thank you again for the most wonderful welcome xx

Wedding Anniversary weekend away.Booked for Friday night and we had a lovely meal, a few drinks and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves asked if they had availability for Saturday night, which they did so as we knew the food was good and hadnt seen another menu we fancied in the area went for a second visit on Sat. Big Mistake... In and out in 40 mins, starters arrived minutes after being ordered and i noticed the waitress check to see if we had almost finished so she could tell chef to start our mains... We asked the waiter clearing the mains if we could have a breather between courses, he said no problem, 2 minutes later mains arrived!! I had the specials salmon fish cakes that were bland and dry, with a salad that was all leaves a bit of cucumber and roughly chopped peppers, 2 slices cucumber very unappetising, husband had seabream which was overcooked and dry with very earthy tasting new potatoes. Sadly they went to 5* to 0* within 24 hours.The staff all looked unhappy on Sat night too, very different to Friday night.

Visited the White Horse post lock down and have to say the measures they have in place are very reassuring. You are welcomed, taken straight to your booked table and then staff provide table service. Nice menu and food served promptly. Would definitely visit again

We ate twice here whilst on holiday. All COVID precautions were taken and the pub was clean and the one way system well set out with appropriate social distancing. The food was of a high standard with a good choice and excellent service. We were not disappointed.

I came here in a work bubble to celebrate the end of term and I was not disappointed!! It was very easy to social distance as they didn't let too many people inside the pub. The new pizzas are excellent!! I will definitely continue to come here!!

Sister was back from uni for a short break so we all decided to head out for a meal as a family get together. We all had 2 courses, prompt polite service from the staff and the food was delicious and piping hot. Couldn't fault it.Will definitely be going back again soon.

Este pub me había sido muy recomendado por mis amigos y recientemente tuvimos la oportunidad de ir juntos. Un menú brillante, lleno de una gran variedad para todos los gustos, junto con una tabla llena de tentadores especiales. La comida estaba muy bien presentada, muy caliente y la más generosa de las porciones, ciertamente no íbamos a pasar hambre. Después de un largo descanso, estábamos listos para los postres y estos estaban igualmente deliciosos. Always good food and very attentive friendly staff. A decent selection of dishes on the menu along with a good choice of specials - not the cheapest but always good quality.

This is always a pleasure to travel to the White Horse for a meal as we know we will always be satisfied with the cuisine there. The staff are friendly and helpful, hence a very pleasant atmosphere.

After paying £12 per roast dinner, we were presented with something that was just tasteless. Thin overcooked slices of beef absolutely drenched in cheap tasting gravy. My daughter ( who had a child’s roast) had more vegetables on her plate than I did. Frozen looking Yorkshire puddings and bland tasting vegetables. It really was poor for the amount of money paid. Not impressed at all.

We stopped here on route home from Exeter and were greeted by a very nice young lady when we walked in and I asked if they had a table available as it was quite busy, we were shown to a empty table, she presented us with a menu each and took our order for drinks then left and came back within a few minutes with drinks and left us to choose our meals.5 minutes or so a different waitress came and took our order, the meals arrived in good time were well presented and on hot plates.A nice selection of deserts, an all together a good experience.All staff were smartly dressed and seemed to be kept busy.Great meals well presented and nice atmosphere.

Such a shame, i have been here twice before during the week, and had great food, but this is the first time i have come on a Sunday, and to say we were disappointed is an understatement. Roast beef was very poor, two very thin slices of meat, half cooked roast potatoes, frozen beans, and thinly sliced carrots (From a machine). Roast chicken was dry, and ditto on the vegetables. Saving grace, is that i know they can do good food, but whether it was because they were busy !!!!! Staff was variable from the really helpful, to the abrupt.

We came up from Plymouth today a group of 8 we could not fault it the food was top class we will deffo be comeing back soon

Estoy muy contento de que no hayamos conducido más allá de este pub. se ve limpio pero suave por fuera, por dentro, se ha tenido cuidado de renovarlo y hay un agradable espacio exterior para parejas y familias (en una terraza un poco más alta, ¡útil para aquellos que no quieren los niños!).

Denne restaurant har en køkken som udstråler overskud og kreativitet. Mad er yderst velsmagende, portionerne store og prisen virkelig rimelig. Blanding af italiensk og fransk. Pizzaerne i en klasse for sig.

We went here to eat recently knowing that we usually get a good meal. The meal was fine HOWEVER the young staff need to learn how to behave at work. We ordered drinks, I asked for no ice in mine so the staff member asked my husband if he wanted ice to which he replied no.

Had the scallops wrapped in bacon with my partner had been before and got 8 scallops which I thought was fair for 18.95 but this visit got 5 scallops which were cold and some soggy chips and a gritty salad will not return unfortunately because this was my partner s favourite place to eat

Monday Night, way back from Sidmouth. No need to book, welcoming waitresses. Excellent selection from the menu and specials board. Very good selection wines and beers. Very reasonable prices, highly recommend Calamari and Veg Lasagne. Will be returning.

Ocho de nosotros nos reunimos para un almuerzo familiar y disfrutamos de una selección del menú. Dos de nosotros somos celíacos y hay una serie de opciones sin gluten, el bacalao y langostinos mornay era bueno, disfruté el pollo en jamón de Parma con una sabrosa salsa. Las porciones eran de buen tamaño y el servicio era bueno, aunque uno de nosotros estaba decepcionado con la papa de la chaqueta. En general bastante bien.

Visited today with my 94 year old neighbour who struggles to walk with her stick and to eat due to cancer of the mouth from many years ago. Chose this hostelry because of access and menu choices. What a good decision! We both had amazing food. My neighbour chose the lasagne but with chips rather than garlic bread and I had the daily quiche ( broccoli and Stilton) which were both beautifully presented and tasted even better. Delightful owners who couldn’t do enough for us. Well done and thank you.

Popped her to on the way home from Sidmouth and it's a very nice pub. Very clean and tidy inside and decent choice of food. Bonus is a he garden which has swings and slides for children.

After reading some earlier reviews I was a bit dubious of meeting up here, but could find nothing to fault it!

Fantastic Birthday meal for my father at the White Horse. Great menu, great choice. Portions were ample, almost too big!! Liked the atmosphere, with the staff being spot on. Highly recommended

We visited with family over the busy Bank Holiday we were welcomed by friendly staff! Our meals were all excellent and very good portion sizes. The staff were very efficient and attentive. We will definitely return. Thank you all.

Staff are teenagers which is fine - but teach them how to speak to people and wait on tables properly. The food was incredibly overpriced what you get given. No vegetables or greenery, just chips on your plate. poor

Tomé el bistec chuletón fuera de la tabla de especialidades, me costó 26, así que esperaba algo bastante especial, pero no era muy agradable en absoluto, era grasiento, muy escaso y muy grasoso. Mi esposa tenía la hamburguesa de tocino y queso, cuando salió se veía bien, pero tan pronto como fue a recoger la hamburguesa, sus dedos estaban cubiertos de grasa y ¡eso fue solo del pan! Estaba grasiento por todas partes. Las nuggets de pollo de los niños estaban bien sin embargo.

Pleasantly decorated. Reasonably attentive staff. Food 'ok'. The child's chicken nuggets seemed good quality. Other than that the rest of the meals were decidedly average, hence the 3/5 rating

We took our extended family to The White Horse to celebrate my husbands birthday last weekend. Whilst we haven't been for a couple of years we remembered the quality and the quantity of the food to be very good. I chose the rack of ribs and chicken combo at almost £15 and was very disappointed with what I got. The rack consisted of 3 ribs and very little meat whilst the chicken was processed chicken very similar to that which you can buy two of in a two pack from Birds Eye for £2.25! The chips, in fact the whole meal, really were a child size portion. I asked for a sour cream dip and got a pot of whipped cream!!!! The whole meal was tasteless and we went away hungry. All of our meals were very small and the kids meal was tiny, for the cost I thought it was a blatant rip off. We didn't bother staying for desert and went somewhere else for coffee and cake!!! Won't be going to the White Horse again which is a real shame because it used to be brilliant.

Wouldn't say the service was welcoming as we entered as told "we shut at 2pm"... It was just around 1pm but allowed to order..I have to say the pasta dish which was chicken/chorizo was delicious.. waitress was friendly and approachable.. I've visited here many times and usually had a good meal..

Solían venir con regularidad, la comida y las raciones han bajado levemente. Tenía el panini que solía ser enorme y lleno de cualquier relleno que elija. Ya no tengo un poquito de aguacate y trocitos de pollo marrón. Alrededor de 5 fichas. Un poco decepcionante solía ser porciones generosas y de relleno! Y por el precio que esperaría una porción más grande.

Ahora hemos estado aquí antes y la palabra que usaré es "Consistente", reservamos para doce y tuvimos una experiencia realmente agradable. . . 12 platos limpios, personal amable y agradable estilo pub.

I went to the pub with my family on Christmas Eve 3 of us are vegetarian the food was very disappointing. We weren’t expecting anything special but not excuse for undercooked fish and chips and watery soup. Friendly staff but very bland interior. Wouldn’t recommend.

Mis hijas y yo vinimos aquí para una cena de cumpleaños anoche, cuando llegamos nos recibió con gusto un miembro del personal, la mesa que mi hija había reservado estaba lista para nosotros. Nos dieron los menús, decidimos diferentes elementos de la lista, pedí unos chips de panini con queso crema y salmón y ensalada de col, mi hija mayor pidió pato en salsa de salsa Hoi Sin con patatas fritas y ensalada de col y mi hijo menor pidió Camembert con una baguette en rodajas y chutney, todos tomamos diferentes bebidas, cuando llegaron las comidas estaban bien presentadas y todos disfrutamos mucho. Debo admitir que tenía dudas acerca de los precios antes de llegar, pero lo que tuvimos fue un buen precio y una buena relación calidad-precio. He estado en el White Horse en muchas ocasiones con un grupo numeroso para nuestras mañanas de café, pero no he comido aquí durante mucho tiempo, volvería. Sí, claro, personal amable, una cálida bienvenida, y Sobre todo muy limpio, ¿qué más se puede pedir? ¡Gracias! ?

Tenía una mesa reservada para la cena de cumpleaños de mi hijo, unos 14 de nosotros, pregunté si podíamos llegar 5 minutos antes de abrirla para decorar la mesa, pero se rechazó. Las bebidas son bastante caras, la comida era normal, no volveremos a salir corriendo. No hay música en el cuarto de atrás donde estábamos sentados.

We went here on the last night of our holiday. The restaurant was fully booked the last time we’d visited. So we booked the table this evening and as the place seemed to fill up quickly I’d recommend booking. Always a good sign!

Visited during the summer holidays with three young children and seven adults. Great menu choices for the little ones, tasty food and great service. Very welcoming and nice atmosphere, lovely outdoor play area too. Would definitely recommend.

We popped in here for a Sunday lunch. We were there about 2.30 and the rush was just over so easily found a table for 2. The staff behind the bar where welcoming and friendly. We placed our order of 2 Sunday roasts and 2 drinks, which came to a very pricey £35.70! Thinking surely it can't be that expensive knowing the roast were £11.45 each the math was not quite adding up for the drinks. Looking at the receipt, a double vodka and orange juice came a hefty £8.70! £2.60 of that was orange juice!! Scandalous price. Needless to say there was not another drink involved. The meal however came quickly and it was hot. Selection of 3 veg and the normal. Quite a large portion of meat and plenty of gravy. It was nice, but just a bit bland. But it did satisfy the quest for a roast on this particular day. There menu does look good, with a good selection and variety, but I have to say again it is a bit pricey. Even thought the atmosphere was comfortable and staff were friendly, I don't think we'll be in a rush to go back.

Stopped off for an early lunch, glad we were early as it soon filled up and we soon saw why. The food was excellent and fresh, the staff were friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was perfect. Definitely be back!!

We now regularly drop in here for lunch. The beer and food are very good and the service and atmosphere are excellent. I need say no more!

The interior of the pub is lovely, bright and clean. We arrived for an early lunch with friends and the service was quick and pleasant. Unfortunatley, the food was ok but nothing to write home about. One of our party had chicken which was a little dry, the chips with it were quite soft. The other three meals were passable but at the price needed slightly more care. The menu is huge and is reminiscent of a ‘hungry horse’ type pub menu - maybe less choice with more attention would be better.

Called in for lunch. My wife had the gammon which was very nice and I had the "Fry-up" which was huge. Apart from the bacon which was a bit like leather, the rest was very tasty and more than I could manage. Sat outside(as did most people) and the service was excellent. First time I had eaten there for a long time and I would certainly recommend to anyone.

We were passing by here a few Sundays ago in the early afternoon and we decided to stop for a snack. However when we entered and saw some Sunday Roasts being taken to a table we very quickly had a change in our plans. We were made so welcome by the staff and had a table in seconds in a nice quiet corner. The food was just wonderful and so well presented. Beautiful beef and great selection of fresh vegetables too. Thank you for making us feel so special and next time we are in the area will be sure to stop by.

Our family stopped here on Saturday evening on our way home to West Sussex having picked up two sons from University. We all enjoyed the fantastic meals and wish we had room for dessert! The service from all staff was excellent - very friendly and welcoming. With the prospect of another 4 years travelling back and forth to Devon we will definitely be back!

We have eaten here before, Exmouth Archers Annual Dinner, so we though we would go back.

This pub has a great menu, and the food was lovely and great prices. It has a large beer garden with lots of children’s toys, 2 large slides, swings etc. Very nice will come back.

Me and Clairo took mine and her mum a.k.a Hinge & Bracket ....to the White Horse for lunch, walked in it was nicely busy inside and out, we were seated and placed our order 2 Lasagne with garlic bread, 1 chicken & bacon roast and I had the Turkey & ham pie. All served in about 15 minutes all freshly cooked, all delicious.

I have been here many times and never been disappointed. Good food, not fancy but delicious. Staff are brilliant.

Not impressed, service a bit slow, portions rather small. And quiet pricey. Food ok nothing special.

Haven't been here for years but remembered that we'd had a good meal the last time we came. Big Mistake! First the positive, the food was hot. Sadly the Haggis, Neaps and Tatties that I ordered came as three dollops on a plate, even more sad was that it was tasteless. My wife went for the Ratatouille Risotto which looked nice, but again was bland. Thankfully there was some salt and pepper on hand to add a bit of seasoning to the meal but didn't manage to resurrect it to what it should have been. Very disappointing.

We had a lovely meal here on a Sunday lunch. I braved it and had roast beef and expected to be disappointed but the roast was fantastic , tender beef, good Yorkshire puds and potatoes all home made. Best meal we have had for ages and have already recommended you to others. We will be back very soon. Staff were great and really nicely decorated for Xmas season

We look forward to eating at The White Horse as every time the food is hot, fresh and plentiful. Staff are friendly, restaurant is clean, half modern, half traditional. The waiter even went on a hunt for peppermint tea requested by one of our group....

Arrived with 5 mins until service clean see and the lovely barmaid rushed to the kitchen to let them know we were about to order ... not the most extensive choice for us veggies but all the same it was a delicious meal and high end pub grub. I had spicy bean burger served in a brioche bun with chips , salad and creamy coleslaw and relish. My partner had scampi and chips equally delicious freshly cooked and presented well. The staff were very welcoming and friendly especially Jonny no sale!

I visited here with my family on a Friday night. We booked a table for 6.30pm and it was relatively quiet when we arrived.

We Went to Sidmouth with two friends for a two week holiday, and one evening, when we had been out all day and were looking for somewhere to eat on the way back to our accommodation, came across this lovely restaurant. That was the first of 7 visits! The choice was great, the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere, food perfect and the staff were so friendly and professional. Good wines. There was never any doubt after that where we would go to eat on the remaining evenings of our holiday. It was superb, couldn't fault it.

The steaks at the White Horse were recommended to me and I was not disappointed. I had a rare sirloin steak and it was exactly as I like my steak. The accompanying food for the steak was also well cooked. My only disappointment was that the mixed salad was smoothered in coleslaw - I should have asked for a green salad.

I went here with my husbands family for an early Saturday evening meal. The restaurant and menu look very much like chain restaurant sort of food and I was not holding out too much hope for the food. However I was surprised as all the food was very good! I had the ribs for starter, gammon and egg for main and a chocolate roulade for pudding. They were all very nice!

We were organising a walk around the nearby RSPB site at Aylesbeare Common so needed somewhere for coffee first, followed by lunch after the walk. The White Horse fit the bit exactly. They were well organised with the pre-booked coffee and instead of having to wait while individuals in our party deliberated about which coffee to have, and then wait while each one was prepared, we were served from a pot, with hot or cold milk. There were also plentiful biscuits and refills of coffee for those who wanted one.We ordered our lunches from the varied menu and on our return from the walk we did not have to wait too long for our lunches to arrive. The food is very good in my opinion, and even the dishes for the smaller appetites were generous. Apparently most items on the menu could be ordered as smaller portions, but it would be helpful if the menu could make that clear.

A very attractive looking pub with plenty of parking and nice big beer garden. We stopped in for dinner with the kids, I had the warm chicken Cesar salad which was amazing! I can't recommend it enough, the wife had chicken escalope which also was not only a good size but good quality chicken well cooked.

Myself and family stopped here for dinner whilst holidaying in Devon,had a very nice evening meal,steak cooked to perfection,rack of ribs that fell off the bone and a lovely lasagne were had by us all,plenty of food,pleasant and friendly staff and reasonably priced,would highly recommend and would definitely eat there again if I was in area

My husband and I, and my young daughter recently visited crealy meadows and fun park. But we wanted to go out for food. We found this lovely pub a little way up the road. We ordered food, and received it very quickly. The portions are very generous, at an average price. The staff were friendly and attentive. We visited twice, and if we go back to crealy we will visit again. I can recommend the chicken and barbecue ribs delicious.

I came here with my daughter on Sunday for a pub lunch (not roast). We 2nd sandwiches and they were delicious. They were served with a side salad, crisps and home made creamy coleslaw. I've been here many times and the food and service never disappoints. Excellent food and value for money.

The food in the white horse is really nice & they cater for vegans, however I have to say that whilst I did enjoy it, the food was just warm. The rest of my family ate liver & bacon, a chicken meal & rattouie & rice, the meat eaters said theres was hot but the vegetarian also said hers was warm. I have been asked to go again in 4 weeks time but I have declined as I just do not like lukewarm food. Please do not let this put you off as the meals were very nice & my mother who is 88 absolutely enjoyed her dessert & they looked lovely but Vegans... theres nothing for you but a bowl of strawberries

Went to the White Horse, for a lunchtime meal with family to celebrate an 85th birthday. Had a very nice meal, lamb madras, bacon and scallops, prawns linguini, and egg salad. Food was of a good standard, and service was friendly and pub was clean. They have three types of real ale, otter, yellowhammer, and doom bar. Food is better than standard pub grub, and worth a visit.

We went with Family on Tuesday Evening, the food was lovely, the service was great. We were all really happy with our food.

Visited The White Horse for dinner, not been for a while as we thought the food had gone downhill a bit the last time we went for a meal. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his steak and said it was probably one of the best he's tasted. However, I am a fish eater and thought the Specials board was lacking in fish dishes so in the end decided on the crab salad which was OK, but nothing exciting. The puddings were very generous and we were glad we opted for one dessert with 2 spoons!! We were glad that we returned but it wont be one of our top of list places to visit.

Nice outdoor area with playground and patio. Food was good enough but overpriced for what it was. Did the job but I wouldn't go on about it. Nicely decorated clean interior. Friendly staff.

We visited this week for the 3rd time, 1st visit was a drink only and they didn't seem keen as all the tables had reserved on then but you can't really sit at the bar. 2nd visit we had a lovely meal, so booked to go back this weekend for a birthday celebration. We ordered drinks at the bar after we had sorted out which table was booked. Despite pint, and bottle of wine, cooler and two glasses, no one offered to help get it to the table!! Started was fine, one main course was fine and the other (the mixed grill) was dry and over cooked. We didn't get a table check so no chance to complain and when the plates were cleared by a very young waiter, we told him and he mumbled about telling the kitchen and that was that. The complaint didn't make it to management so we begrudgingly paid the bill and left. Not a top visit so will think hard about going again. Shame because some staff are good, and sometimes the food is good!!

We booked here for my 50th Birthday Meal. 24 people all in all and most travelled from up north to celebrate with me. The food was hot, tasty and ample. The rest of the party all enjoyed it to. Thank you for accommodating us all on a very busy good Friday, you did so well to ensure that we all ate together.

Have been dining here for some years on a weekly basis. However, the standard has declined. Ordered a Sunday roast beef dinner and was served the most disgusting meal ever - a snorkel was needed to negotiate the gravy soup that was covering everything else on the plate. Ugh! Unbelievable and really quite insulting. It was as though the cook was going to appear at any moment in a clown outfit to say "fooled you"! My one regret is that I didn't complain at the time. Unusual for me as I usually do so. Wish I'd taken a photo: would have won the award for best shot taken by the Hubble Telescope.
