We had a fantastic meal last night here, I had the fillet steak & my husband had haddock & chips he was really pleased as the skin had been taken off the fish & he was able to eat it all. My steak was sublime, cooked to my request served with a beautiful mushroom, blue cheese & black pepper sauce, served with chips, tomato & peas. We had the Camembert to share as our starter which was flavoured & cooked to perfection. We shared a knickerbocker glory which was raspberry & strawberry based & again was lovely. We would recommend this lovely pub for food & drink. Lovely staff, we really had the best evening. Thank you all xx

Poor food selection and low quality chips!

Always a hit when I come here, for business , birthdays or a casual lunch. Great menu and always excellent service. Booking is advisable as they get busy, but this does not detracted from the quality of the experience.

We arrived without a booking hoping to get a drink from the bar and sit outside in the February sunshine. Sadly as we approached the bar we were met with a very frustrated member of staff who failed to greet us and proceeded to very angrily tell us the pub was fully booked. We asked if we could grab a drink from the bar and sit outside, the response was "only if you have to". Obviously we didn't have to and we chose to take our custom to a far more welcoming pub nearby having travelled 30 mins.

First time visit and will be back again in future. Was quiet but as I visited Monday lunch time it's not surprising but would have been a better atmosphere I think if busier. Next time I will try a different day in week. Food was good, my mate and myself both enjoyed what we had. Definitely worth a visit.

This is one of a very few pubs that you can be guaranteed a tasty meal Monday through to Friday also offering a great Sunday Roast on a Wednesday! And its dog friendly.

Used to be really good for food. Now not so much. Still ok but no more. Specials list looked rather dated. Menu was uninspiring. Only chicken options were a burger or chicken and cheese. Won't be back for a bit.

First time, it was the best food I have had from a pub. Fish and onion rings.

We called in the landlady was so very helpful despite not having a reservation she found us a table we ordered wine and a beer promptly served .ordered a curry which was delicious chicken rice mango chutney n flat bread all first class a bit of a gamble as this is NOT traditional Indian curry house .balanced spices not just a bit of curry powder sauce. .several people asked if we were enjoying our meal .which was quite exceptional .if you were nearer our home we would definitely be back regularly .Clive n Sue

Popped in on the off chance at lunchtime. It was very busy both inside and in the garden. We were lucky and got the last available table. There was a bit of a wait but that was okay. The food was good. Between us we had southern fried chicken burger, fish pie and haddock and chips. Too full for dessert. Might consider booking next time.

Lovely food and superb service. The menu was varied and specials were available, all tables were occupied when our party of four arrived for Friday lunch, so there was a good atmosphere . The pub gave the impression that it was family. owned and some of the dishes were homemade. Plenty of car parking was available and this pub is definitely worth a visit.

Exceptional place. Very happy with the food quality for us and our toddler. They were very busy on the Monday night we went in but everything was done very efficiently. Shout out to Hannah who saw our toddler got a bit upset at a certain point and came over quickly with a little colouring book and crayons to help her settle down. Highly recommend.

Was on a walk so only called in for a drink but we did have lovely sundae but the food coming past us looked amazing, we going back for the mid week roast soon

My family and I, had the Wednesday roast. As we walked in, we were greeted with friendly and polite service and we were quickly shown to our table. Drinks were ordered as quick as this and came soon after. After having a reasonable amount of time to ponder what we wanted to eat we were asked what we had chosen. Going from a recommendation about the 'melt in your mouth' beef we had to choose that, however, I saw a nut roast and was stuck between the two. Along with this I noticed that the pub also offers a beef and turkey roast, with this in my mind I asked whether they would be open to swapping the turkey to the nut roast and they were more than happy to do so. Great service from table to kitchen. Whilst waiting for our food, which took no longer than twenty minutes to arrive, we soaked up the ever growing atmosphere; the pub filled up very quickly, especially for a Wednesday afternoon. As the food arrived, we were satisfied to see a very generous portion of food, with a large flaky Yorkshire pudding balanced upon a 'melt in your mouth' roast beef, creamy mash potato, crunchy roast potatoes and a succulent nut roast. I finished the large plate of food with absolute delight and the waitresses couldn't have been more help, asking at perfect times how the food was, and they were more than happy to help with any request, for example, lighting a candle which was not originally lit. Throughout the meal, the waitresses timings were outstanding; from the time between arrival and ordering food, to the time between main course and dessert. Overall, this was an extremely pleasant experience and I recommend the Wednesday roasts to anyone looking for a very good lunch they should come here

The fish and chips were very bland according to my husband. No flavor in the batter. I had the fish pie and it was delicious! We shared the baked mushrooms as a starter and also delicious. We will definitely return and my husband will try something else. The food is fresh and served hot. Excellent service and dog friendly. I recommend.

Good local beer, very friendly and welcoming staff as well as local people. Food thankfully not the usual burgers the food is delicious and different which changes monthly (I think). It inviting with open fires in winter and large garden back and frount in summer. The smell in the car park as you pull in is inviting can not wait to try the summer menu but must try the winter game first 😋

Discoved by chance and popped in for lunch today, with our dog. Had the most delicious sharing fish platter. Food cooked perfectly, and tasted so good. Staff were friendly and helpful. Can't praise them enough

I have lived in the region for decades and visited most restaurants - expensive or otherwise, but at the moment The White Horse remains one my favourites ever - for it's service, ambience, cost and quality of food.

Last minute decision to go out for Sunday lunch on the bank holiday weekend and the White Horse ery kindly squeezed us in. Inside was busy but plenty of tables in the garden and a large tented area for shade. Great service, pleasant staff. We chose from the Sunday roast and the everyday menus. All agreed on how good our food was. Proper Sunday lunch in an English (Suffolk) country pub.

We had a large family group for a Saturday night dinner. Pre ordered the food, which was really good, tasty, great quality & reasonable prices. (Recommend the onion rings) Friendly staff & good service.

This is my favourite place to go for a Sunday roast! The staff a friendly and welcoming when you arrive. Service is excellent. The food has always been amazing. Parking behind the building which is large enough for all people visiting.

Been here a handful of times now, great service, excellent Sunday lunch, great beers, proper country pub. Half way point between us and other family so this pub has become a great Sunday afternoon meeting place. They’ve got ping pong tables, table football, swing ball and a great climbing frame outside so the kids are always entertained.

Friendly, good range of real ales. Reasonably-sized car park and outside drinking/dining area. The menu looks interesting too - but haven't tried the food yet. I will return!

Superb Sunday lunch. All of our group were very happy with their meals. There was a friendly welcome and service was very efficient on a reasonably busy afternoon. The pub is clearly very popular and for good reason! There is a good sized play area outside which our kids really enjoyed. Highly recommended.

Visited the White Horse on a busy Sunday without a booking, they were very busy but still happy to accommodate us on one of their bar tables. My Wife is Gluten Free and Vegetarian but their menu was FULL of Gluten Free options for her to choose from. Staff were great and food was bang on for a country pub.

We enjoyed a family meal here today for 10. What a great experience. The staff are attentive and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. All of the food ordered came exactly as requested. We didn’t have to wait too long for our food. The food was also tasty and of good quality. Everywhere was nice and clean. Outside there is a lovely garden for children to enjoy!

Went this afternoon and all 5 of us had something different from the menu (apart from Buddy the dog who tried every dish!). I had the Southern fried chicken burger and it was hands down the best I have EVER had! Absolutely delicious 🤤 My partner had the Chicken and feta dish and said it was delicious. Dad had the vegan burger and was very impressed. Sister had the haddock and chips and loved it. Stepmother had the roast and couldn’t finish it all. And we managed to fit in some of the sundaes which were also delicious. Great beer / ale selection on tap too 🍺 Dog friendly, lovely welcoming staff and great value! Definitely will be returning to try other menu items.

What a great place! The White Horse is deep in the Suffolk Countryside offering fine food, excellent service, and a delightful atmosphere. We booked our table and glad we did as the dining area soon filled up with those who seemed to be regulars. A good sign.... Everywhere is clean and tidy without sacrificing the olde worlde charm of the fine old building. Plenty of parking, an outdoor dining area, and a playground for the kids. We'll be back!

One of the best pub meals in a long time. Lovely feel to the place, small but interesting menu, served to near perfection, but unlike similar pubs in a 10 mile radius of Bury St Edmunds priced perfectly. Additionally allows dogs and has a great play area. Willl definitely be visiting again next time we are down visiting my Dad.

I booked this for some friends to all meet for lunch, it was impeccable and very attentive service from Lizzy, the food was excellent, with everyone saying how nice their meal was, absolutely no rush, which is a true delight in modern times. We were able to sit outside after our meal to continue enjoying the long overdue conversation that has been a result of the nasty COVID. So the whole experience for the six of us was one of being simply the most perfect place to go.
