Birthday dinner for my hubby. Steaks soooo good staff very friendly. Nothing too much trouble.

My partner and I visited Cheers for the second time recently and were equally as impressed as the first time we went. Dining experience here is amazing, we love cooking our steak ourselves exactly the way we like it. Huge thank you to Georgia who served us on both occasions, such a polite young lady and very attentive making sure we were topped up nicely during our time there. We’ll be returning again very soon with more family members, of that I have no doubt.

The best place if you like steak/meat! And great value, too! But, had one bad one and no reduction in price so a little bit of a lottery. Left a bad taste so now not so keen... what a shame 😞

We hadn’t booked but we were early evening and got a space, we were very well looked after, food was great, service was great and with a smile. Nothing was too much bother ( and we did have some awkward requests) we will be back!

Such a great place for dinner. You have the option to cook your own steak or there is a menu of items that you can choose from that is already cooked for you. The steak is great with all the sides and the salmon is always spot on. We've been coming here ocassionally for 3 years and it never disappoints. The sangria is delicious and the staff is always attentive.

Update: Sept 2024: - We returned as a group of 9 guys. Once again great service, good quality meat and decent value so we got our moneys worth! March 2024: Meat... And lots of it! That is the best way to summarise our trip to Cheers. As a party of 7, we had 3 plated meals (Chicken, Salmon and Sirloin) and 4 Rump steak on stone meals where it's unlimited steak but the accompanying fries, rice, beans and coleslaw fills the table. All really good quality, as expected afew bits of the meat were a little gristly but the majority was all decent stuff and for the amount of food, at <£20, you get great value for money with the fun element of cooking it yourself too. If we were to return, we would probably mix it up a little and have steak on stone in addition to another person having Haloumi. Service was really good, empty dishes cleared quickly, meat topped up for cooking, drinks supplied, etc, all great service. Only negative comment is the smoke from the stone frying lingers upstairs and does sting your eyes a little. Alot better circulation downstairs but upstairs is noticeable so for those with Asthma or eye issues, best to request a downstairs table! Highly recommend and would return for sure

Absolutely amazing steak, all staff we encountered were great and nothing was too much trouble for them. Only thing I'd say is maybe they should put condiments into little pots instead of handing out plastic sachets as some of the people we were with struggled to get the packets open. Overall was a very good evening and will be back again. Thank you!

My first time eating at Cheers restaurant and I loved it, very nice place to eat went with some friends for a early afternoon lunch/Dinner. Two of us had sirloin stoned steak really tasty and a lovely bit of beef, another two had the Endless Rump steak i think, i had a bit it was tasty, they really enjoyed theirs, And the last two had the seabass & butterfly Chicken, again really enjoyed theirs. All sides were cooked to perfection. Not badly priced. I would definitely recommend Cheers Restaurant and I will be going back again.

Food was amazing. Kids loved cooking their own meat and great value for money BUT it was far too hot inside and no accessibility for disabled customers.

Lovely restaurant with great food and lovely staff. Visited Bury as a halfway meeting point to see family and would definitely come here again.

Good atmosphere, was a pretty warm day, but with everyone having hot plated on their tables, it made the room extremely hot. Quite a few steak pieces served had hard parts, definitely not particularly quality steak cut served. Did have to wait for our drinks, which seemed to be forgotten and we had to remind about it. Overall, a good visit and pretty good price, would visit again.

Absolutely incredible experience me and my colleague are down in bury st Edmund’s for work and we decided to pay cheers a visit the food was unreal and our waitresses Cassie and Maria couldn’t do enough for us overall 10/10 experience and will definately be visiting again any time I find myself back in bury

Working away in Bury St Edmunds and somehow went on a run and stumbled upon this fine establishment it’s some of the greatest service I’ve ever received all thanks to Cassie and Maria and wow the steak was something to remember some of the best I’ve ever had. My self and my colleague savoured every mouthful as if it was our last meal on deaths row. Again thanks to cassie and Maria for making it happen

Maria was an excellent server with a good sense of humour. Felt like our friend was serving us our food. Atmosphere here was excellent. Unfortunately my friend thinks skin on fries is the invention of the century but he’s a damn fool. In summary: Great place, great food, great service.

Brilliant atmosphere! Went there to celebrate my best friends birthday, and we were treated so well. I want to come back! We had unlimited steak and drinks, and they kept bringing steaks until we couldn't move anymore 🙃 it's totally worth it, and staff is doing an amazing job :) the closest parking was down the road and it was very cheap, we are chuffed to bits

We were there last night a table of nearly 20 people and the staff absolutely smashed it. Always so polite, attentive to what we need, and friendly. The food is always perfect! One of my favourite restaurants

Amazing food, excellent service

Do not come here if you have breathing problems. Where you cook your own steak on the stone, it is extremely smoky and they do not have any ventilation at all. I'm asthmatic and found it very hard to breathe, so had to leave and look for somewhere else to eat.

Customer service is fantastic and food portions are more than enough. Absolutely worth a visit. We will most definitely be returning.

We have been there for staff party at the beginning of January. The food was good and definitely worth the price we paid. The real star of the evening were of course members of staff who were going above and beyond to make our meal memorable. Service itself was very prompt . For sure will be coming again.

It's raw ! They do what they do. It's about steaks. How a steak house should feel. Clean and cozy. Get a cooked steak or choose to cook your own on a hot stone right there on your table.

Can't complain about all you can eat steak!! We went for 2 set menus but swapped one lot of steak for halloumi. All the sides were also delicious 😋 you definitely wouldn't leave this place hungry. The only thing we found was that it was very loud because it's quite small. But other than that, a great experience and we shall be booking to go again!!

A must go to place for something different and excellent food for meat lovers. Go for the rump steak for unlimited steak and sides and cook it to your liking on your own hot stone!

This was my 2nd visit and again, it didn't disappoint. Food is delicious and the fact you cook the steak yourself makes it really fun.

this place is fantastic. the food is absolutely awesome. there are all you can eat options and you even get to cook the steaks yourself at your table. the staff are so nice, accommodating and friendly too. this is my second visit and definitely not my last, always leave happy and full up.

If ur coming for a visit here in Bury St Edmunds and want to eat steak. This is a must go! U can order ur steak on a hot stone and a choice with fries, rice or salad apart! Worth every penny! They also have salmon which was really tasty! (I tried it before having my steak). I will remember this place!!

Visited this place whilst staying in bury st Edmund’s on a night away. It was a Thursday and we were drawn in by the trip advisor reviews, which are mostly all 5 star! This is rare so thought we’d better check it out. We were greeted by the very helpful staff who immediately seated us at a table. The restaurant does have a normal, small a la carte menu, which mainly focussed on steak with a few other options for vegetarians etc. They also offer a fixed menu where you pay around £30 each and you get starters and then you get steak, chips, coleslaw, rice and soft drinks or sangria. This is all unlimited (including the steak and drink) they keep bringing you more if and when you need it. The most interesting part (which some might not like, but I loved it), you cook the steak yourself using a hot stone in the middle of the table.. this is a really cool little gimmick that means you can all have the steak cooked exactly how you want it. For those interested, I believe the steak was rump and it was really well seasoned and tenderised, so it melted in the mouth. The staff were very attentive all night, spotting when we had run out of any food and then offering more.. means you’re not having to awkwardly flag down a waiter all the time. All in all, great experience. If I’m ever in the area again.. I’ll definitely come back.

Favourite restaurant in Suffolk by far, absolutely great service all staff equally as good as one another which is very rare, recommend the £30.50 Meal deal, unlimited food for a great price gave 4 stars for food as you get a range of different cuts of steak some much better than others but either way it tastes good.

All you can eat steak. Possibly not the very best cuts, but still perfectly nice. Will go again. :-)

Excellent service at a reasonable price.

Complete disappointment. Room with filled with acrid smoke from the “stone cooked” steaks. Waiter opened a window for some fresh air, too bad it was obviously too cold with people covering up because of the draft. My “cheers steak” was absolutely full of gristle and under seasoned. Couldn’t be saved with the goopy gravy-granule “sauce.” My friend ordered the fillet. Out came the stone. He didn’t ask for the cook it yourself option. Didn’t even have salt on the meat, but we did have little disposable sachets on the table. He offered ketchup for the soggy chips. Out come the sachets again. Felt like a takeaway. I would be embarrassed if I cooked something like this at home for guests. Totally baffled by the high marks this place has gotten.

Food was very nice , all I can say it was very noisy in there, not only the customers were loud , even the staff was . Alsi very smoky in there, my eyes were burning so bad.

I had the T bone steak here, it was cooked to perfection of how I like it. It was also a beast of a steak. But do not expect all the usual sides with this, I was offered rice or chips, to which I went with the chips as rice seemed a bit weird. With black beans. That was it. It felt unaccompanied. However, the service offered here by the staff was exceptional, hugely warm & professional. Thank you.

We were there last night and the experience of eating in this restaurant was amazing. We had the set menu, the starter was like tapas and kept coming until you said to stop. The steak was tender and fun to cook on the hot stone, like the starter you could have more meat until you had had enough. The staff were friendly and very efficient. Highly recommended this restaurant, already booked again for when our friends are visiting next month.

We've been to Cheers numerous times and it's a great experience if you love meat, and they do have other options/dishes if you don't. Staff are always super friendly and welcoming. Do book ahead as it can get busy. Highly recommend the garlic prawns (unless you've got a meeting or visiting your dentist the next day!).

went with a couple of friends. service was amazing, waiters would top you up on drinks or any food usually less than a minute after you ran out. the steaks aren’t high quality but they’re still tasty. very enjoyable evening and will return again.

Aug 2023 A last supper before taking eldest son back to uni tomorrow. Reasonably busy for a Thursday evening but easy enough to get booked in. The atmosphere was good and the service couldn't be faulted. Quickly seated and regular attention at the table. Went for the "all you can eat" steak option for just over £30 per head. Reasonable steak, but not always the best. Often quite gristly, but it does keep coming if you keep eating. Cooking on a hot stone on your table is fun and adds to the sociable nature of the restaurant. Have been before and will come again.

Mmm this is a tough review as the staff are faultless. Prawns and muscles starter excellent, very tasty. Cheritho, a bit chewy and fatty. Steak, sorry guys not very nice tasting, too much salt and pepper, cheap cuts with no decent steak taste as such, odd bits are nice. Great concept, love supply of red wine and sangria. But steak a big let down, which was the main point of going. If u want to fill your belly, with some nice food, go ahead, but if your expecting more of a good steak, then not for me! Great service, all dishes popped up at speed. Waitresses are lovely.

Beautiful place, heard plenty about this restaurant so had to visit, had a birthday meal out, lovely food, drinks, will visit again.

Very authentic if you've ever been to Portugal. Great atmosphere. Staff are friendly and helpful. Amazing food. Not good to go to if you have a vegetarian or vegan in your party as there are next to no veggie options. Can be quite slow to bring out more food, could benefit from larger serving dishes of the rice/beans especially if you are sharing one stone between 4 people. There is often not enough room on the table though! There is only one toilet which is a shame and can cause you to awkwardly wait for a while. House wine is very low quality but sangria is great! You will have an almost identical experience in the Thetford branch.

Oh so delicious! The starters were amazing and the steak was juicy and perfectly seasoned. Very good value. Will most definitely come again and can’t recommend enough! The staff was very pleasant and helpful.

Most amazing little restaurant in the heart of Bury St Edmunds.

Service good, food flows, steak tasty, sangria not particularly alcoholic but fruity and pleasant. Desserts limited but not sure you need one after the main anyway. Can be noisy.

Nice as its unlimited wine etc I have to say there is no sauce available with your dinner and that sides are limited, with a small amount of coleslaw. Maybe a side salad would go well or some more sauce 🤔 😋

Lovely meal spent for my husband's birthday. Maria was very attentive and helpful! Will be returning for our anniversary dinner in January :)
