The food tasted very nice though I have no idea why they say the food comes with bread when all you have is a weird pointless strip of it. Just a pity about the really bad stomachs myself and my wife had after the meal and we don't eat the same meals as each other at home due to different working hours, so it was definitely the meal here.

Absolutely superb. Highly recommend. Fantastic Turkish food (cooked to perfection) with generous portions at a reasonable (for what you get) price. Excellent service with friendly waiters. Will definitely go again!

Great service and lovely place but food was a little bland.

We had dinner while staying in town to visit family. We found the place very authentic and with good vegetarian options. It was full of locals and we found the portions a little too big for us but we ate it all in any case. Good ambience and authentic Turkish food

Nice little restaurant in Bury St. Edmunds. There's a good variety of items to choose from and everyone in our group enjoyed their food. Prices were fair and portions good. Recommend, especially if you like this type of food.

Wow, great grilled meats - I highly recommend the grilled meat platter. Baklava is the best I have ever had.

The Sheesh Turkish Kebab remains the best in town, consistently delivering top-notch quality and generous portions at a great price. Highly recommended for kebab lovers!

Stumbled upon this place. The welcome was warm and the staff were extremely attentive. The starter was with us quick but the main however was amazing. The lamb was freshly cooked and the taste was out of this world. Will be back to try something new on the menu.

Stopped off here on the way to the Forest live concert in Thetford for lunch. We had the lunch menu that was just under £15 per person for two courses. We found the food to be of excellent quality and very tasty as well as more than adequate in portion size. Just an observation was that we had to ask for the lunchtime menu rather than being offered it so it seemed that the staff were trying to get you to order from the more expensive evening menu. Overall good experience and would definitely recommend.

The best lamb we have ever tasted and I have toured most of Turkey and eaten countless kebabs. Don't hesitate to try!

Absolutely delicious food! Spicy sausage and feta/spinach rolls to start both very good but the main event was definitely the meat. Mixed sheesh and a lamb betyi. Wow. Full of flavour, could really taste the BBQ and the meat was some of the best I have had, so tender and juicy. Generous portions and great service. Already planning a return visit.

The choice and quality of food and service is excellent. We had a good visit and have had excellent takeaway from here previously. The Resturant itself is a little dated but don’t be put off, the friendly reception when you arrive and attentive service leading to an amazing food experience will be totally worth the visit.

Overcooked starter of liver , sharing platter for main looked a mess , place was empty on a Saturday night at 8:30 , never again.

Went for a meal last night had a few people recommend and what a recommendation it was, the food was amazing we had the sharing platter for 2 and baklava to share for dessert which we have never tried before and it didnt disapoint. The staff were very friendly and attentive would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to try turkish food we will be returning .

In town for work and went out looking for a place to grab dinner and stumbled upon this place. When we walked in the place was empty, wasn’t sure if we were early (was 6:30) or if it was a slow Thursday night. Almost didn’t go in (actually skipped another place because no one was there) and am glad we stayed. Started with the calamari and it was great. They were the size of huge onion rings (four on the plate) and they hit the spot. Had the mixed sheesh - marinated cubes of chicken breast, tender cubes of lamb, chargrilled on a skewer, with rice and mixed greens. It was really good, only thing keeping it from great (and 5 stars) was the chicken was a bit dry. I’ll be back in town again and would gladly eat here again.

Popped in for an early dinner as we had heard good things about the place. A friendly welcome, nice waiter. The place was quiet as it was early evening and Tuesday. I’m sorry to say we were disappointed with the food. The starters ( mozarella sticks & filo pastry filled with spinach & feta) were extremely average to poor. At almost £8 a go they definitely weren’t worth it in any way. The mains were described as the “specials” I had lamb sheesh my partner chicken sheesh both with a big dollop of yoghurt on top and served on a bed of chopped up pide bread. The bread just turned to mush and the yoghurt overwhelmed everything. The lamb was unremarkable and there wasn’t much of it. It was mostly a bowl of mushy bread and yogurt. The rice was nice! These dishes were £20 each. I had high expectations but we won’t be going back.

As a Turkish guy I can say that this Turkish food is top quality. Highly recommended.

Booked an early table as off to a concert at the Apex, service was good and food came quickly, shared a moussaka and chicken kebab, couldn’t finish it all, really enjoyed the salad. Would definitely recommend, only niggle was it’s really cold. Looks like you need to book as well as they seemed to turn away quite a few walk ins.

Such welcoming staff, fantastic service throughout, despite us taking ages to order and finish our lunch. relaxed ambiance and tasteful decor. We loved the food. A good selection of meats and fish and so authentic. Wonderful barbecue enhanced flavours and plates were colourful, delighting eyes and pallet, alike. Excellent value for money, we took some home because we couldn’t quite manage it all. A very satisfying experience. We’ll visit again soon.

Absolutely delicious, best grill restaurant I’ve been in for many years. Will be going back soon, can’t fault the service and cleanliness.

We stopped here for a late lunch/early dinner. You are met with a view of hot coals and fresh meat in their marinades. Service was fantastic, staff were very welcoming. We had 2 starters and the sharing platter. The meats were cooked very well, tasty and juicy, all with the classic fire/charred taste (but not burnt). The meats are presented on rice and all the juices filter on to the rice, making the rice taste fantastic. Drinks were priced higher than normal but is probably a sign of the times. I would recommend this restaurant.

Arrived at 7.55pm, 5mins before our 8pm table should have been ready but was asked to wait 10mins which was no problem except we weren't asked if we would like a drink whilst waiting. Although the food was very good I feel the portion sizes are somewhat becoming less generous than previous visits to this restaurant and with starters being around £8 with one dish being two sausages cut in half with a little salad, I feel its becoming less value for money. Our waitress wasn't particularly happy with her employment either, a smile goes along way rather than "are you ready to order". I'm probably going to give Sheesh a miss for a few months as other restaurants offer better value for money in the town.

5 of us went for an evening meal. We ordered Calamari and Prawn starters- both were excellent, probably the best calamari we have ever had. For mains we ordered the platter for 4- an excellent choice and range of lovely meats along with some fries. Service was quick Our second visit there-will definitely go again.

Food is very nice. I particularly enjoyed the prawn casserole. Dips and bread too - in particular the beetroot hummus. The mocktails unfortunately were way too sweet. Also while the starters were nice, they were way too sweet. I did enjoy my evening here and would return.

If you eat in the restaurant the food is great but the same can’t be said when ordering a takeaway, lamb sheesh not sure if it was even lamb and the order appeared to be rushed, poor quality and presentation it was very disappointing

Have been to the sheesh maybe 4 times now, it is by far the best Turkish food I have ever had and the restaurant is very clean and welcoming. The lunch menu is extremely good value for money and the deserts and Turkish coffee are spot on. These guys don’t add a service charge but have certainly deserved the tip every time we have been.

We went to Sheesh in a group of 10 people. 4 toddlers and the overall experience was amazing. The kids food was excellent. My daughter had a lamb kebab and loved it. The adults food portion was also excellent. Lots of bread was served throughout and topped up. When we all left we all said how great the food was so we would definitely recommend and definitely will return.

Calamari that melts in your mouth and the tenderest juiciest mixed grill and tastiest accompaniments. Love this restaurant. And so friendly.

So warm and friendly, the food what can I say was out of this world every single person had good comments and there is plenty of it you won’t leave hungry. It all came out together the chef’s made sure of that :) 100% recommend we will be back x

We booked a table for 20 for my wife birthday and these guys were amazing. Food was absolutely spot on, all came out together and nothing was too much to sort for a needy table. Cannot wait to come back again. Thanks again for a top service from a proper tasty restaurant

We are new to area so have been trying out a few foody places recently. We happened upon the Sheesh whilst out one evening, we had not made a booking but received a very friendly reception, nice atmosphere and very welcoming, good service and importantly great food. Will definitely be returning.

We had not booked but were met with a friendly welcome, there was a nice warm atmosphere and we received very good service and the food was great large selection of traditional Turkish dishes of very good quality. Will definitely be returning.

Absolutely amazing! We were visiting Bury for a wedding, we had a long journey and were getting irritable. The wife had picked this place to eat from Google, and it was a ten minute walk in the rain, which made us more irritable. We were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome and a bit of conversation, which I always think adds a personal touch. We ordered a starter, which was absolutely amazing ( I wish I hadn't shared it between the four of us) The mains were to die for. My only negative was the salad to meat ratio, I would have like a little more meat. Taste wise, however, it was all fantastic and big would definitely eat here if visiting again. The kids even tried things they wouldn't normally eat, and I had Baklava for the first time ever and was blown away! Totally worth the price of the while meal. We went mid week and slightly before dinner time, but just prior to us leaving, the restaurant was starting to get a touch busier.

The Sheesh Turkish BBQ is not only our favorite Turkish restaurant, but our favorite restaurant. We go almost weekly! The meats are fantastic! The rice is always cooked perfectly, the salad and veggies are good. Just everything! The husband and I always get the lamb sheesh and lamb sheesh with yogurt. 🤤🤤🤤 The Baklava is a perfect dessert to take to-go. Everything is the chef’s kiss! Not only all of that, but the service is always very friendly and top notch. Our son loves the music and dances along in his seat as we wait for our meals. We just love Sheesh Turkish BBG! Pictures are the same meals on two separate visits. Expect a phenomenal meal served with a smile!

I thought the restaurant was absolutely amazing, things I loved about it that it looked very posh and had paintings around the place just looking magical. The food was amazing, I had chicken nuggets and chips (which one family member said "very original". But I loved it). I asked my other family members about their food and they quite enjoyed it. My favourite part of eating at The Sheesh Turkish BBQ was probably the desert, I had the cheesecake and omg it was delicious. What I also like about the restaurant was when you walk in you can see the cooking bit and I think that is so cool. I definitely recommend this place.

This place was such a good find in the centre of Bury St Edmunds. Family friendly and lovely, welcoming staff. Most importantly, food was delicious - meat fresh and tender, bread and salad on the side fresh and well presented - could not fault anything. We all left very full and happy!!! Will be back again when in the area :)

Went in there asked for food which can be consumed on the move (driving) they give me rice and seesh the worst bbq i ever experienced it was not prepared well and taste also sucks.

This is a true favorite anytime I visit Bury St Edmunds/England. The meats are always so delicious— properly spiced and cooked to perfection. The bread and the sauces are also sooo good! During this last trip, the staff was so helpful and accommodated our family (party of 25) with a last minute reservation. They were organized, friendly, and precise with our entire order. We also tried the sea bass for the first time and that tasted wonderful! To summarize, this place is a great restaurant and I absolutely recommend to anyone in town visiting. 10-10-10 across the board. 🫶🏼

Love this restaurant. Plates are generous and the service is friendly. Nice feel to the place. Food is really great 👍 both vegetarian and meat based. I have had both and just as tasty both times. I am trying to watch my carbs, and they were happy to swap out rice for salad on my dish. Overall I would happily recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Had a fantastic meal here wuth work colleagues on a quiet Tuesday evening. The quality of the food is outstanding along with the service. You won't be disappointed with this lovely restaurant and prices are very reasonable too.

Rated slightly lower on atmosphere as we arrived late on Tuesday after bank holiday. The food was incredible. It was fresh and well seasoned. Lovely staff. One of the nicest meals we have had in a long time.
