Awful. Staff rude. Only get served if you're a local!!! Staff always outside smoking, then come back in and serve without washing their hands. Place needs a good clean. Wouldn't go near the place. Westhoughton has some great places and this unfortunately isn't one.

Went Friday night. First night out since the beginning of lockdown. 6 of us in total and had a great time until the last 15 mins when my husband and son started singing and the landlady came over and told them t me o be quiet. We were a bit put out because we were just enjoying ourselves. We weren’t being rowdy or standing up. Just singing. We tried to explain we were just having fun and apologised although my husband was quite annoyed at how she was speaking to us and I’ll accept he was also being a little rude to her and I told him to stop. We decided to leave but while my daughter and son and their partners were still outside 2 men in their 40’s came out and started hurling abuse at them - bear in mind my daughter is only 20. They then got very aggressive and one of them hit my son in the face. Then a fight broke out. Myself and my husband had already left or I would’ve called the police on them. Luckily it didn’t get too serious and my son was just left with a couple of bruises although he gave as good as he got. All this was totally unavoidable and if customers can’t go in to a pub and let their hair down then don’t run a pub. I hope the landlady reflects on this and has spoken to the 2 men because she had been sat inside with them unless she condones what they did! A lady who was outside and witnessed everything told my daughter it was disgusting behaviour by these 2 men. Myself and my extended family will no longer be drinking in this pub again which is a shame because it was our local. Advise for anyone going - sit down and god forbid don’t enjoy yourself.

We don’t go to Westhoughton very often but, when we do, we always call-in at this place. It is down-to-earth but a proper pub and one we always enjoy our time at. They keep the beer extremely well and have a good range of drinks. It isn't expensive and that explains why it gets so very busy and is a popular place indeed. They show all the live sport and have quiz and fruit machines around the place. The staff are friendly and, although it gets busy, the service is quick. It is a really popular place and it is clear to see why.

We were staying at the Mercury Hotel which is only around a 10 minute walk away along the Bolton Road. We decided to break up our journey and stop here for a few drinks before continuing along our walk to the Bolton Stadium to watch Rod Stewart in concert. The place is quaint and a little old fashioned but has a great atmosphere there is a good range of drinks on offer in here and the bar staff are warm and friendly.

Completely rude member of staff, I went in and was told to use the machine, (hate using machines in general rather than speaking to a human being) ordered a tuna wrap and saw them make a chicken wrap, I'm like 90% certain I definately pressed tuna wrap, so I mentioned to it, and the member of staff in the rudest manner goes (How can the machine be wrong bro) - like machines are never wrong, even if I was in the wrong, the manner he went about it was extremely rude and I won't be going back any time soon. The mistake was easily correctable and he could have just offered to take the chicken off and replace with tuna, instead he chose to be extremely disrespectful.

Food is good but the service overall is terrible. The ice machine is down and the manner in which how they offer alternative wasn’t the best either, 625 stores across the country, and can’t simply fix an ice machine over a week ? Lost a customer, have started going to a new local cafe which has turned out to be better coffee, in some way thank you, wouldn’t have tried the new place. @bolton centre Nero cafe
