Lovely pub, rules are quite simple and clear and it doesn’t help when people turn up with beer in plastic glasses from other bars. Says it all really!! Maybe certain people shouldn’t be so liberal in calling others racist or facist, I think that’s a slander offence too or does it only apply one way?

NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY ATALL!!! THE MANAGER BEHIND THE BAR WAS RACIST AND TOLD US TO GO BACK WHERE WE CAME FROM , OUR FAMILY MEMBERS WAS PLAYING ON THE POOL TABLE BEFORE WE GOT THERE WITH THE KIDS AND THE KIDS WERE STANDING WATCHING , WE DIDNT EVEN HAVE THE CHANCE TO SPEAK AND THE VILE MANAGER CAME OVER AND TOLD US NO KIDS PAST 7 TO GET OUT AND LEAVE AND GO BACK WHERE WE CAME FROM BARING IN MIND IT WAS 6:30 !! NOT SOMETHING YOUD EXPECT FROM A NICE PUB IN SUNBURY VILLAGE WILL NOT BE GOING NEAR THIS PUB AGAIN STAY AWAY !!! AVOID THIS RACIST AND UNWELCOMING PUB AT ALL COSTS !!!

Not family friendly at all. We went down to the white horse bang on 7pm on a Sunday with our two kids looking to eat. The look we got from behind the bar as we walked in was met with daggers. It wasn’t a friendly welcome at all. Very frosty from bar staff and patrons alike. We didn’t know why until we looked towards the garden door with a sign up reading ‘no children from 7pm’….. 7pm!! Thankfully other more welcoming pubs in the village welcomed us with open arms. Be mindful if you are a family or have kids with you. I note quite a few reviews similar to this in relation to being unfriendly towards customers and in the main, families. Management need to sit up and change this.

A right little boozer where the staff and the locals both seem welcoming and friendly. Not a big place, by any stretch of the imagination, but cosy all the same. Food is available from outside eatery they seem to have a deal with. The Guinness was excellent as was the Brakspear Gravity.

Shocking food, nearly everything was burnt. Burgers for 4 people cost £52. The three Lebanese burgers were so bad two of us couldn't eat them and the sweet potato fries were burnt as well. The falafel and halloumi were completely burnt and dry. When we complained the cook said he was new, very bad start and introduction, and offered to replace the meals but said he could not offer a refund. Asked for a manager but he said there was no manager available. I'm a local so I will be spreading the word about the standard of food and bad service. I also want a refund for two uneaten meals. My Australian friends were appalled that such awful food was allowed to be served to customers.

Moody bar staff, miserable patrons. Not friendly and definitely not family friendly would not recommend. Small and dingy as well

I started drinking in here when i was 15 ! Still one of my locals 40+ years later.

Rude, unhelpful, unfriendly staff. They weren't able to look away from their phones to even acknowledge my presence. While in the ladies' toilet, a man came out of the other cubicle. Most concerning. We drank up and left. Won't be going back.

There aren’t many pubs to choose from in Sunbury age, but this is definitely not the best. Having waited at the bar for ages the (presumed) landlord said he’d be with us in a minute and then walked off. The two ladies behind the bar then served regulars who literally came to the bar ahead of us. It was all very hostile and the staff were pretty rude. Avoid popping in unless you’re a local! The pub itself is pretty grotty and a bottle of beer and a basic spirit and mixer came to over £10. This might be palatable for one of the riverside pubs, but for this joint it felt like a rip off. Don’t bother with this place.

Friendly atmosphere, buzzing pub, great burgers. Had a great Saturday afternoon watching the football even though we lost.

Who doesn't like a Sunbury Pub !

A community meeting place with an outdoor beer garden and lots of other amenities, the toilets are spotlessly clean and the staff are polite and competent. Definitely a pub to visit whilst in Sunbury village, you won't be disappointed!

Food was nice, staff are friendly.

Staff very pleasant. No food available presently but moves are afoot to bring food back.

Very good service, did not have to wait at all and the staff were very helpful and friendly , the young barman should be barman of the week 😀 .

Can be very very noisy due to no carpet, large TV screen etc. But friendly staff. Wine is overpriced, like everywhere in Sunbury on Thames.

Friendly - but the gents toilets rate about a 2.5. Fairly clean but badly knocked about.

Haven't been here for 15 months, but it was great to return for a fabulous meal. I had the lamb pie with flaky pastry top, which was absolutely delicious 😋 and it came with mashed potato, and a side plate full of vegetables, cauli, carrots, French beans and broccoli - enough for 3 people but it was all for me! Lovely friendly waiting staff, and the chef also came out to ask if we enjoyed our meal. He remembered us from last year! We will definitely be going back soon 👍

Stopped for a pint one Friday evening. The pub has a lovely atmosphere and the staff were most welcoming. They have a lovely outdoor area to enjoy a drink and a restaurant. I will certainly be coming again.

I would highly recommend The White Horse. The staff go out of their way to help you.They are also friendly and kind. It's covid safe too

Have been there a number of times recently for a Sunday roast. The food is really good and the staff are really friendly and helpful.

Went in for some food about a month ago and the first thing that struck me was the bar staff. There was one lady, Jasmine, who spotted a new patron straight away and was immediately over to welcome us in and offer us a drink. The place was packed but she still managed to make us a priority, bringing us menus, talking us through the specials, all the signs of a great bar manager. Since then I've made it my mission to frequent this place as much as I can. Keep up the great work and well done Jasmine! *EDIT*: It appears that Jasmine has left The White Horse. After a year of being the highlight of the week seeing her beaming smile behind that bar, I was distraught to hear of her leaving. Hopefully wherever she is now, she's making it a better place with her bubbly and infectious positivity.

I like the vibrant pub a lot but less so the restaurant, food was good and the lady who waited on us was very pleasant, is in a room that appears to be an extension with entrance separate from the pub. I honestly can't say there was anything outstanding.

Friendly local pub. Nothing spectacular but has everything you want from a pub including a decent range of beers but no craft beer, decent food, TV for sport and a garden. It is kids dogs friendly.

A proper village local. Great ambience and service, with major plus of outstanding food served in the bar or the compact adjoining restaurant. Also a delightful garden and so close to the river.

After a disappointing experience at another 4*+ rated establishment I was apprehensive about trying somewhere new for sunday lunch and nearly turned around to go home. So glad I didn't. Friendly and unrushed. Proper roast, proper portion, proper veg, steaming hot so it remained hot to the last mouthful. Only downside was that I would have liked a little more stuffing but everything on the plate got eaten! And the pudding was also a win! Would rate 4.5 if the option was available. Thank you for rescuing what could have been a complete washout of a day!

We went here at the last minute for dinner while staying on vacation in Sunbury...what a lovely surprise. At first we went in the bar...looking for the restaurant but it was around back with a separate entrance. There was a large group of us and they quickly accommodated us. The food was great as was the service. There was a young waiter and he did a fabulous job taking care of our large table. It was one of the best dinners we had while on holiday in England!

The pub serves an excellent roast on Sundays. We went as a large family group and they accommodated us in the snug area so we had our own personal space. The service was great , very cheerful staff. Great family location.

I didn't realise this pub had been done up until the other day when we walked passed and saw the garden had been done up so we then visited today far a quick drink and some lunch , the pub and garden are clean and tidy the bar staff are friendly and helpful and the food , beer was good , gone are the days of wiping your feet before you go ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Took my whole family to lunch (10) and everyone said the food was great, they even have a special menu for kids. The prices were reasonable and will certainly be going back again.

Fantastic pub, the food is more restaurant orientated than average pub grub, the chef could easily get a job in a top London restaurant, and I've eaten in a few, and believe me it's way up there with the front runners, and not badly priced either, You may have to wait for your dinner but that's good, it's not thrown at you the service is good and friendly also, enjoyed it so much, we are going back again next week. Generous portions, tasty food and very good service. Slow cooked shoulder of lamb - very tender and the roast pork was also very good. Although we had eaten a lot we had to try a dessert - home made bread and butter pudding was really good. And by the way good value for money. Would definitely recommend.

We have been a couple of times before - we live locally and didnt realise there was a separate restaurant for food until recently. We took friends on Good Friday . The food was gorgeous as usual , steak cooked to liking .Lovely fish dish My belly of pork dish was huge - I got a doggy bag to bring home for our labrador .Vegetables plentiful and attentive lovely young waitress home from Uni. All in all a lovely evening out and the food just gets better

Staff are very friendly, courteous and professional. Food is in the home cooked style with decent portions and very good prices. to is expertly prepared. This is one of those rare places, a good pub! why can't others do it like these guys do?

Visited with a group of 18. we had booked tables but suggested that we pre-ordered or had a limited choice menu. We were told not necessary as the kitchen could speedily cope with whatever we ordered. And they did ! Varied meals selected from burgers to pies and steak to vegetarian. All good quality, well cooked and presented. Service was excellent in a very friendly manner and they coped with many separate bills for drinks. A very good experince
