The White Harte in Wiltshire

I wrote a glowing review some time back about this place but boy, has it changed. Maybe they've had a change of chef or something but today it was DIRE. We ordered the fish & chips and the fish didn't taste right at all. I think it was supposed to be cod but it tasted more like undercooked hake. Also, they left the skin on and the batter was just greasy and tasteless. Usually when we have fish anywhere, the skin is removed and there is a nice fillet but this was just all slimy skin, thick greasy batter and a handful of chips. Very poor value indeed and we won't be going back.

The place is rather unadorned and simple, we both had the roast, which came with all the usual trimmings. The beef was a little chewy, but otherwise nice. Service was very good, and they accommodate one of us getting the child portion as not very hungry; the selection of ales on tap was not great though, which is a bit of a shame. But overall a good experience!

I had a really good meal tonight with some very good friend's. We all had something different, I had the sirloin steak with all the trimmings , cooked perfectly and every mouthful was delicious, all my friends thoroughly enjoyed there meals to . Good value for money, great atmosphere and friendly staff, we will be returning again very soon.

First stop here for Breakfast in a while and they did not disappoint, nice hot coffee and a first class Breakfast, excellent value, good service from friendly staff and food was lovely and hot and tasted very fresh. Would thoroughly recommend and will certainly be back.

This is a great place to have meal. The fish and chips are great and the Sunday lunches are great. The Bingo is good on a Thursday evening every third Thursday.

The White Harte provided the food and venue for a small wake following a family funeral. The food was perfect and plenty of it. The staff were friendly and helpful and not at all intrusive. The room is lovely; nice decor and spotlessly clean. Would highly recommend.

Very good food at very good prices...friendly service and welcoming...only negative is tgatvthe lighting is a bit bright

I actually meant to go into the ball & Castle, though I'm glad I ended up in here. Good food, could be better service in as much as the tables weren't cleaned for ages & was like an afterthought.

Popped in for a cup of tea and saw a full English breakfast on its way to a table. I am so weak willed :) One full breakfast and a pot of tea cost less than £6. Lovely and excellent value. Going again today to have a pint and fish n chips with homemade apple pie. Lovely friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

I had the chicken supreme and my partner had the lamb shank. My chicken was very tasty but not quite as hot as I would have liked BUT the lamb shank (I tasted some!) was amazing! Really lean and minty and generous portions. Never been there before and pleasantly surprised. Decent, home-cooked food at sensible prices. Nice, kind of 'club atmosphere' but whether you're a member or not, friendly and comfortable. We are going back for the Christmas dinner! Give it a try, you won't be disappointed....

Sometimes very busy and there are always spare tables. A popular place for locals and visitors who find this hidden gem.-next to the Castle and Ball. Comprehensive snack menu available 7 days a week. A happy place to visit and not expensive either.

A recent new venture in the revamped conservative club, the white Harte restaurant is a cosy place to enjoy a meal, it may not have a large menu choice but each meal eaten here has been served to a high standard, hot tasty and always delivered with a smile, staff are friendly, children are welcome and prices are reasonable, We look forward to returning to sample the Sunday roasts!
