On the road and needed to eat. Had great ham, egg, and chips, hubby had the burger - everything was delicious and service was excellent. Would definitely recommend 😊

Great service and they went out of their way to help particularly with my gluten allergy. Food was good and served in good time.

I've been to this pub many times and always so impressed. My child is on a restricted diet at present so we handed over a list of what he is not allowed and crossed our fingers. They could not have been more helpful. Not only were they kind and considerate of all this but the menu had a whole load of options. Several choices for a vegetarian child who can't have chocolate citrus or cheese! It was amazing and made the whole meal really relaxed. The food itself was incredible. Couldn't recommend more.

We visited at the end of November 2021 enroute from where we live on the coast of Dorset on a day trip to Sherborne. We discovered it by reviews and were not disappointed. We were given a warm welcome for both us and our dog and being a Sunday we had a lovely Roast dinner meal. We will definitely visit again - thank you.

so great to see The White Hart back to it’s former glory, a favourite of old, I had stopped going due to the previous tenants complete lack of knowledge in running a pub. Now warm and welcoming, what a difference! Good glass of wine and decent pub grub, will be back very soon!

Visited over Christmas with my husband, what was a lovely country pub has turned into a rowdy working men's club, foul language pool and darts, not the place for a family meal, basket meals went out of date in the 70s, never again!

I had read that the pub had a cask mark for quality beer but they have lost it which says it all. The landlord said his wife can't cook and that says it all as well. Avoid like the plague

After hearing the White Hart had been taken over in December by Roger and Rachel it was a lovely surprise to see a clean and happy atmosphere again after a few months of it being neglected by the previous tenant.

Me and my family have eaten a few times here under the new management. Every time the food has been excellent. We had the steak last night and it was cooked just as we asked and the sauce was fantastic. All the food is very reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and nothing was to much trouble. Great selection of beers also. Lovely beer garden to sit out in the sunshine admiring the views across the fields.

Had lunch there a few weeks ago with some old friends. Good pub grub - nothing fancy. Nice to have simple food rather than gastropub.I will be arranging to use the pub more often, when in Sherborne

Absolutely typical English pub fare - good choice of mains and desserts plus proper beer!My bill for the two of us was £25.30 for a gammon steak with pineapple, all veggies and garnished with FIVE tomatoes on the vine, cod and chips and peas for my wife, plus drinks. Pint of beer and an elderflower pressé. All served in a little over 15 minutes by our charming waitress Hannah while we were seated in a window table - a table which looked as though it had been in this old pub for well over a hundred years. Altogether a charming old English ambience of dark furniture, huge fireplace and fascinating decorations, including an old poster advising gentlemen to carry their firearms on the Thursday coach from Sherborne to London (fare 50 shillings!). A nice modern touch is newspapers and magazines to read while drinking.Would I go again? Yes.

The staff are very slow we were waiting more than 10 minutes on arrival to get a drink, when seated for our meal the table wasn't clean we had to ask a member of staff to come over and clean it for us then when ordering our food which we waited a while for wasn't nice at all cold and presented on the plate what looked like the chef couldn't be bothered. Will not be returning.

My family and I recently visited this pub. Firstly I must point out it is not in Sherborne town centre. it is at least a 6 mile drive from the town. The food was not great even for pub food. The problems were many, our plates had not been warmed which meant our food was cold within a minute or so of arriving at the table. The chicken was horrendously over cooked and my knife couldn't cut through the last piece. It was at best supermarket chicken breast and certainly not free range, the mushrooms were stone cold and the sugar snap peas hadn't seen a saucepan. There was a huge dog with its owners sitting next to our table in the restaurant which I don't think is appropriate. I'm all for dogs being allowed in pubs, but not in the dining area.I know lots of reviewers have mentioned how welcoming the landlady is!! We must of met her on a bad day. She did not welcome us or acknowledge us as we left. She seemed to busy chatting to the locals at the bar.Not quite sure why this establishment is ranked so high on trip advisor, maybe the good folks of Bishops Caundle have very low expectations when it comes to dining..If you are looking for a fine dining experience this is not the place for you! In the pubs defence my wife did enjoy her mussels, apart from the many pieces of broken shells she constantly found in her mouth whilst eating it. Certainly not cheap either. We will not be returning...

Sunday lunch was not very good. Waiter ate food and drank at the bar constantly. Emptied bins and didn't wash his hands. Chef sat at the bar in between orders. Food arrived and was tasteless, meat tough and when asked for cranberry sauce the waiter arrived with a plastic tub to serve it!

Excellent food, friendly staff, always willing to go the extra mile. This is one of the happiest places I know to have breakfast, lunch or just gorgeous cake

A small hidden Cafe hidden down a side alleyway, delivers a big smile through it's food and warm welcoming hosts. They make delicious salads, homemade crustless quiche, large saucer style macaroons, homemade sausage rolls and vege rolls. It's the only place in Dorchester that i feel the food is good for you, cooked on the spot there that day, great coffee and choice of tea's etc. Seating is limited and very sadly due to it's size of premises maybe closed due to Covid, please double check. They have worked so hard and deserve all our support

Very friendly village pub with good quality, reasonably priced food. Delicious homemade biscuits/chocolates with coffee. Welcome dogs even when wet. Highly recommend.
