A member of our party dines here (with a group) fairy often and has positive feedback, but I think on this occasion it was not very good. The others will return but I won't because I didn't think it was good value for money. The food arrived 5 minutes after ordering, which gives the impression it wasn't cooked but rather, re-heated. The server(s) rushed it down and ran off (literally) and we had to ask them back to order a drink. The room they put us in was very loud, the children & toddlers didn't help but that's more to do with the parents than the restaurant. Food was a bit bland and the burger was not very good at all, but the chips were very nice. I think for the money, it would have been nice to have received a cooked to order meal rather than a re-heated ready meal. The lady server was kind enough to listen to our feedback and she did pass it on to the manager, who promptly charge full price, and we were not in the mood to discuss it further so no problem. Probably they could do better but with other places offering better quality, I would rather not give it a second go. Shame.

We came for drinks after strong recommendation, and later were informed food wouldn’t be available until 6pm which was understandable, and subsequently provided with some menu’s to look at whilst we waited. However, 10 minutes prior to 6pm (after 2 hours of waiting) we were then told by a member of staff that there was absolutely no option available of ordering food due to the kitchen expecting high volumes given bookings later in the evening. After we challenged this, on the basis you would assume a restaurant knows how busy it’s going to be more then 10 minutes in advance of commencing their evening dinner service before making promises earlier in the afternoon to customers, we were then told “we could order pizza if we liked” which although was a solution, isn’t what we came all this way to have. Further conversations were then had with what we assume was their manager, and as we were about to leave to find somewhere else to eat, were supplied with the full menu as they could all of a sudden “fit us in”. Frankly, the time had already passed and a sour taste had been left in our mouths. A real shame as we were recommended to visit based on a previously positive experience, which turned sour due to simply just poor communication and expectation management.

A large group of us went for dinner here in March. The food was excellent, but the service was lacking. In particular, one member of staff, a waitress wearing glasses, soured the entire experience. From the start, it was clear she didn't want to be there. Every time we interacted was apparently an inconvenience for a meal costing over £350. Very much a "I don't care, deal with it" attitude, the type you'd see from a moody teenager. There are better ways to treat paying customers. That being said, it's worth noting the rest of the young team were friendly, professional, and trying their best during a busy time.

We booked to stay at this pub/hotel after having to cancel our original booking in Stamford town centre due to parking restrictions at the Crown hotel due to the weekly a Friday market. This was our first stay here, and we would come back and stay again. The pub / hotel is very nice, the rooms are in what seems to be converted barns. We had room 7, the “brewery”. The room itself was very clean and comfortable, apart from a glowing green light at night in the room from either a fire alarm or some sort of detector. A light which you are not able to switch off. This meant I had a very disruptive sleep for 2 nights. The walls are also quite thin, you could hear residents coughing etc in the next room. We ate at the pub on both nights, the first off the Cozy pub menu and secondly off the main restaurant menu. Both meals were really good, albeit a bit expensive. I guess you pay for the ambiance and setting of the pub in that cost. The stay includes breakfast from a set menu, we opted for the full English- which was nice but a little mean with the portions. Service for breakfast was another downside, the young female waitress was on both occasions quite rude to us and other guests - as if we were causing her an inconvenience. We noted an elderly couple asking for some preserves for their toast, she spoke to them very abruptly and said they’d have to wait whilst she got the hot food out. She came back and almost threw the preserves on the table. It also seems to take some time to get served, they have no items on display to help yourself - no juices or fruit either. You have to ask for everything, and sadly the rude disinterested waitress didnt like to serve anything/ or ask whether you would like any further drinks etc. Despite the glowing aluminating green light and rude breakfast waitress, we would stay again ( with an eye mask, ear plugs and in hope there’s a cheerful polite host at breakfast). Car parking was plentiful, which is another reason we’ll opt for this hotel rather than the Crown in Stamford. The commute is barely 6 miles, and quite a nice drive into to town. We would look to possibly avoid weekends as Friday was quite busy with large family groups in the restaurant- with very noisy children. Our stay on the Thursday was a lot quieter and more country pub with relaxed feel. If the pub tweaked a few service issues it would make a big difference.

The food was not up to the usual standard, Roast beef was tough, Chicken was supposed to be a supreme but was roasted nice but not what was ordered, Roast pork was nice to only two small roasts potato's and no veg, I had the haddock but my prawns that was part of my sauce were shrivelled to a tiny like plastic tasteless object. We had Coffee and deserts in the courtyard which was ok. Very disappointing as we took friends and had sang its praises. Very expensive when you realise that it was not up to scratch but didn't want to complain as it was our treat. Such a shame.

Had a lovely Christmas lunch there a couple of weeks before Christmas. As a vegan, I am sometimes left with only one choice but was delighted to see that I had 3 choices for each course! For my starter I had the smoked garlic, wild mushrooms and peas on a polenta cake with a balsamic reduction which was really well presented and tasted amazing. My main was the Moroccan style roasted aubergine, puy lentils, roasted vegetables and harissa dressing which again looked fantastic and tasted even better! The warm chocolate and avocado cake for dessert was a little on the sticky/chewy side but I was so full from the first two courses that it didn't really bother me.

Serving wilting and discoloured crudites and barely warmed pitta (repeating exactly the same problem I encountered on my last visit) is not good enough especially when the 'full' menu only offered fish & chips or beefburger...some problem with staff? Not massive gripes I accept, just indicitive of a general drift in quality. It's still a good place for a drink in a picturesque village near Burghley House.

Although or starters were good as was the wine we chose the main courses were poor The sirloin steaks were tough and the crab fettuccine was a sticky, congealed, inedible mess which was sent back to the kitchen. One of our party went without a main course. The service was conspicuous by it's absence and everything seemed to be very disorganised. The staff were very inattentive. I had to write my first trip advisor review to thank everybody at the white hart for accomadating us on a Sunday and helping us to have a fantastic celebration of our sons christening. We had our wedding reception here just over a year ago and I regret not putting pen to paper to thank everyone at the inn, for the food, service and friendly welcome that made our special day go swimmingly. We had no doubt that White Hart would be the venue for our sons christening also, so booked a reception in the beautiful orangery, within the pub. After a very poignant and personal service at Barnack church, we moved to the white hart in the next village to be welcomed with a refreshing cup of tea (or coffee) and a fantastic buffet comprising of salmon and beef sandwiches, scones, Victoria sponge, quiche and the most delicious home made (that morning and still warm) sausage rolls. All our family and friends commented that the pub was such a beautiful, rustic and historical inn, but more importantly what a really welcoming atmosphere was afforded by the team. I want to thank Sue, Lisa, Paul and their team for making the day extra special .

Having been told they couldn’t fit us in between 7-8 we arrived at 8 to find the restaurant nearly empty. The starters were acceptable and served quickly but the sirloin steak which was ordered by 2 out of the 3 of the diners was tough and nowhere near rare as ordered. One guest kept her food as being diabetic she could not wait too much longer to eat. The other diner asked for his to be replaced. This took nearly 15 minutes, which meant the other two diners had finished their main course. When it arrived it was again medium cooked and tough. We were advised the chef had left it under a heat lamp for 12 minutes to rest, to make it less tough!!

Food at dinner and breakfast was fantastic. Great fish and chips on a special deal. Burgers were good as well. Had a few pints of the ice cold Rutland Cider. A great tasting draft cider. Staff are good fun too. I'd highly recommend The White Hart for a stay or a meal.

The food was bland and small portions. Disappointing as group meal with food ordered in advance and voices very limited

Luckily the quality of the food justified the price tag. I was walking my dog and was in the 'middle of nowhere' as far as I knew. The lovely lady (I suspect maybe the owner), who served me gave me local maps to help me out. Thanks. What really helped me out was a lovely 'pie and chips' off the specials menu and two lovely pints of one of my favourite beers - TT's Landlord. My dog was made very welcome. As was I! Very nice.

A warm welcome and lovely log fire are features of this lovely old pub. I visited with some visiting friends and we had a very pleasant meal which was of a very high standard and quite reasonable in cost. There were nice touches like freshly bakes rolls.

Lovely surroundings, orders taken promptly then we waited and waited for our starters to be served. After 30-40minutes our Main Course were brought to the table! It appeared our order had been confused and starters forgotten. Overhearing other tables in the vacinity, it seemed to me that confusion was reigning throughout the service. We were eventually served with starters and then Main courses but I wondered whether our mains had been sat waiting for us to finish starters as the Pork was dry and veg lacked freshness! Same amount of veg served for 2 people on another table for 6 of us on ours! Think someone needs to have a shake up in this lovely village restaurant, as it was disappointing.

Lovely restaurant, great feel and vibe. Brilliant waiters - very professional and attentive. Food not quite as described but they were very busy and it was soon resolved.

My hubby and I decided to sneak in a lunch date and found The white Hart, Ufford a very pleasant destination. Nice surroundings, great selection of food and really friendly welcome and service. We chose from the lunch for less menu, £14.95 for two courses.

After a lovely morning out with my husband, we decided to phone up and book a table for two (just after 2pm) and when we phoned up, we were told that there was no beef left, but pork, so my husband being a meat eater and after a Sunday roast, we proceed. When we arrived (roughly 2.30pm) the staff were extremely friendly and showed us to our table. The table they had reserved for us was cramped and not very accessible, but before we'd even sat down, we were offered a cosy little table near the fire which was much more relaxed. After ordering a drink, we were informed there was now no pork left either, but they would try to find a replacement/speak to the kitchen. They did find a couple of alternatives, but none that sparked any interest. Our drinks were offered to us free and the staff were very apologetic. My husband settled for the halloumi burger and myself the fish and chips. Service was quick and the food was tasty, and the pudding were equally as lovely (sticky toffee pudding and the white chocolate creme brulee) Disappointing not to have the full options, but would still return back.

Visited this pub twice recently and had lunch in the bar, which is cosy and welcoming. We had been dog walking and they didn't mind muddy boots and our furry friends. Food was reasonable but a bit pricey compared to other local village pubs.

From the best ham, egg & chips at lunch time to delicious lamb or sea bass at dinner this is one of my favourite local restaurants. A warm cosy atmosphere it was the best place to spend on Christmas Eve with my partner for a meal. Afterward we finished our wine on cosy sofas in front of the fire.....perfect

We visited with our 3 year old one mid week evening around 7pm for a spot of dinner. We ordered our drinks and food from the bar. I did explain that due to having our daughter with us a quick turn around would be helpful. Over an hour later despite asking twice for an update on where the food was we were told they couldn't find a record for it in the kitchen but would rush it through now. My wife's very average fish and chips quite promptly but my steak didn't, she had finished her meal before mine arrived.

Came here with some family for lunch. We were seated in the separate glass house area which was lovely thanks to the sun, but so so hot.! We were sweltering. Luckily they were able to open the doors for us to get some cross breeze through. Aside from that, the food was very nice and well presented. Being outside from the main restaurant, I feel as though we may have been slightly forgotten at times by the waiters, but overall, it was a good experience. We will be back.

We stopped here for lunch today. The village itself is quaint and has so many pretty buildings. The pub has obviously been refurbished and feels fresh and clean. It doesn't have the "old pub" smell you often find in the Uk. The menu had something for everyone and was reasonably priced. We all enjoyed our lunch, the portions were generous and the atmosphere was very pleasant. We sat in the conservatory section. Staff were friendly and attentive. Would definitely go back.

We visited here 5 adults 4 children on entering we were not greeted very well, when asking about food the reply we got was "well have you booked" we said no only to be told we needed to book in a place like this?? How rude, first impression not good at all. If we had more time we would have gone else where.

Visited for a family meal on a Friday evening. So much to say about the food and service that is not positive, it may appear mean. However, the battered cod was watery inside, the sea bass dish consisted of one small piece of fish, the service was slow (3 hours for 2 courses) and extortionate pricing on spirits (anyone for a £6.50 Barcardi and coke???). Food was not as hot as it should have been and getting condiments and drinks at the table difficult, as staff seemed thin on the ground. The surroundings are very pleasant but that is the main positive for us on this occasion.

This pub might be tucked away but we'll worth the taxi fare . The menu is great with something for everyone ..... and an extensive well put together wine menu to match. ..... but what made the visit even better is the fact that every member of staff oozed confidence and greeted our every request without fail..... The question isn't will we return but when. ..... Thanks white Hart you should be proud .

We live 25 mile away from this pub but love coming here. From the minute we were are greeted at the door, everything runs smoothly. Each member of staff is polite and helpful. Cannot stress enough how much we enjoy our visits. We had the Festive menu for 7 of us (we were the only table within that time slot who did) for this family get together (ages 13 to 62). Food was great value for money and good quality. Just wish we live closer to visit more often... Thank you

Good coffee next to the cathedral but a bit on the large side. Atmosphere wasn’t great considering the history that the building it is in holds. Shortbread was good.

A good country pub for a meal, wide choice of menu, staff service a credit to management. Large off road parking available, and space to eat inside or outside in good weather
