It's a lovely period pub with a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. The food was excellent, and the menu was varied enough to please all tastes. In the summer, the outside seating area by the canal is a lovely place to relax and enjoy the countryside.

Carpark was nearly empty when turned up but thought give it a go As said was a gastro pub on website and food looked amazing Terribly disappointed £14 for two pints of Guinness And a tiny menu Pub was cold inside. Salt was in sachets! The actual burger and chips was very poor. Fat pouring out of the meat onto the plate. Very very disappointed

Can’t recommend this place enough, lovely old pub takes you back in time right on the river Arun with the sixteenth century bridge and the South Downs on the door step, my wife and I had the most amazing Sunday roast lunch , the staff in this place couldn’t do enough , very professional and friendly, did hear the owner is the chef too, definitely going again

We stopped at The White Hart a month or so ago for a drink and when we saw the food coming out we stayed for dinner too. Can’t recommend enough, everything was delicious. We returned last night with a family group of 10 and everyone was so impressed, food was top notch, staff are great and everyone was friendly and welcoming. The homemade bread on the starter was the best bread we’ve ever tasted! Burgers are incredible, fish and chips too. I had pork belly which was amazing. Will definitely be back soon, by far the best pub food I’ve had in the area.

Good looking pub, but sadly that is where the niceties finish. Service was shocking to say the least, every table needed cleaning, the waiting staff are all children and have no idea what they are doing. The food was ok, but expected a lot more with the high prices. I do not recommend this pub!!!

The food was absolutely delicious. I reccomend the beef burger.. With cheese! It was very clean and the servers where very nice. I deducted a star as it was a little slow but that was due to it being busy! Even though it was busy the atmosphere was lovely and relaxing. If you like a quintiscentially 'local' restaurant, this is it. Casual in every way with pretty good food and drink. Four adults with a dog had lunch at 12:30pm. The place was full at 2pm! Go see for yourself. Hopefully there'll be a better view on the summer. Gallons of water was what we saw!

Ordered drinks for my family before they knew I was with children. I felt the operations director did not want to serve my family drinks or food as it did not seem family friendly like it used to. We had just arrived so no judgement should be made about how well our children behave but they clearly have a no children requirement as the operations director was happy to serve other couples / groups. Will avoid this place next time traveling on River Arun

WHAT A TASTY BURGER! Infact ALL the food is awesome and the Ale is divine. We go each week to go for some paddleboarding along the river. We pre order so when we come back our food arrives quite quickly. Which is adds to the great service. Location is amazing and though there is a main road adjacent the pub oozes calm and relaxed atmosphere. If you are using the river access the Owner requests that you Do Not Park in the car park as it is quite small and his customers who are coming and going need that space. I suggested he charges a £10-20 launch fee for river users. There is space in the road for 30+ cars.

Lovely location on the Stopham Old Bridge but sadly the food wasn’t to our expectation, particularly given the amazing photos on the website! I ordered the Korean pulled pork bun which wasn’t really as advertised (the ‘kimchi slaw’ I was excited to try turned out to just be ordinary coleslaw), and my partner’s beef burger was almost inedible as it was so dry. A bit of a shame for a pub in such a sweet location. The fries our dishes came with were really tasty though! What this pub does have is great service. All staff are kind and friendly. We were in a bit of a hurry and called ahead to place our order, which was then served to us almost immediately on arrival. This was very appreciated - thank you!!

Delightful place to stay in the pretty little village of Sutton in the Pulborough area. Great if you are attending a wedding at one of the many nearby venues (like we were), or if you want to visit some great local vineyards. Lovely rooms and facilities, very clean and high quality. The restaurant menu has something for everyone. The food was excellent, not a single complaint and pretty similar to Michelin standards. The staff are super welcoming and friendly. Special thanks to Billy (the landlord) for being so helpful and making our stay so wonderful. We said we would have to skip breakfast on our first morning as we had an early start for the wedding, so Billy had fresh pastries delivered to our rooms instead - what a thoughtful, kind gesture! We'd be happy to stay again the next time we're in the Pulborough area.

A Memorable Riverside Retreat with Outstanding Roast at The White Hart, Pulborough! I recently had the pleasure of visiting The White Hart in Pulborough with some friends and our children, and I must say, it was an experience that exceeded all expectations. Nestled next to the serene river and blessed with a picturesque bridge, this charming pub proved to be a delightful retreat for all of us, including our furry companions. Upon arrival, we were immediately struck by the tranquil ambiance and scenic beauty surrounding the pub. The sight of canoes gliding by on the river added a touch of enchantment to the atmosphere, captivating both young and old alike. The fact that we were able to bring our beloved dogs along made the experience even more enjoyable, as it can be challenging to find such welcoming establishments. Now, let's talk about the highlight of our visit—the food. We opted for the traditional roast dinner, and boy, were we in for a treat. The succulent roast, cooked to perfection, was nothing short of divine. The tantalizing aroma that wafted from the plates as they arrived at our table made our mouths water in anticipation. Tender slices of meat, accompanied by a medley of flavorsome vegetables, crispy roast potatoes, and a rich, velvety gravy, created a symphony of tastes that left us craving for more. It was an absolute culinary triumph, it truly was the pinnacle of restaurant-cooked roasts. Not only were the roast dinners exceptional, but the children in our group also had a fantastic experience. They relished the burgers they ordered, devouring them with enthusiasm. It's heartwarming to know that The White Hart caters to younger palates as well, ensuring a well-rounded dining experience for families. The service at The White Hart was exemplary throughout our visit. The staff members were attentive, friendly, and accommodating, making us feel welcomed and valued. They were quick to address any requests or queries we had, and their warm demeanor added an extra layer of hospitality to our already wonderful time there. Lastly, I must mention the idyllic setting. Dining next to the river, with the graceful bridge as our backdrop, was an enchanting experience. The combination of nature's beauty and the pub's cozy ambiance created a unique atmosphere that was truly unforgettable. In conclusion, The White Hart in Pulborough is a gem of a pub that excels in every aspect. From the stunning riverside location and dog-friendly policy to the exceptional roast dinners and delightful children's menu, it offers something for everyone. The outstanding quality of food, coupled with impeccable service, makes this establishment deserving of the highest praise. If you're in the area, I highly recommend paying a visit to The White Hart for a memorable dining experience that will leave you longing to return.

Free entry to explore the marvellous gardens at Leonardslee when booking the Ultimate experience. A thorough wine tasting, brilliantly conducted by 'Simba', a true credit to his profession as a sommelier. Fabulous wines and that Sabre moment when the cork is 'popped', my friend did this with such distinction. An excellent, delicious Afternoon Tea followed, nothing waste much of a problem, photo opportunity, carrot cake a welcome extra but 'Simba' created the icing on the cake. Fantastic experience.

We only booked here because our regular Horsham pub lunch was fully booked. What a piece of luck. The Red Deer was absolutely superb for Sunday lunch. The food was very very good. Drinks great too (real ale is important to us) The staff were super friendly. The pub was light and airy and not too many tables jammed in together like some places. It's not cheap. But it's worth it. With family now living in Horsham, we will be booking here first choice next time.

Kinda meh. Very quiet on a Saturday night and the ever-lurking wait staff were a bit unsettling. Nice appetizers but the mains were rather bland (like the curry served on my subsequent BA flight was considerably tastier). Menu was amusingly full of hyperbole for the food and the chef. Seemed expensive for what it was.
