Excellent traditional English pub which serves great food with a friendly welcome. We phoned to book and as we did as virtually fully booked on a Friday lunchtime in January. Lots to choose from on menu the food was piping hot and high quality - give it a try !

Back again! Yet again a superb meal for Valentines night, although the wife’s veg wasn’t quite as good as normal. Still the best in the area!

We ventured back to The White Hart last night for a family member's birthday meal. The White Hart has enticed us many times before and we had been hankering to go again for another meal.Seated just opposite the bar, which was managed by the effervescent Nigel (who I might hasten to add, looked like a forgotten 1940's film star in his immaculate jacket), we had a perfect setting to bask in the mise-en-scene.Two of us enjoyed the ham and eggs. This is often my go-to dish, as soon as you taste the meat your mind is spirited away to a bygone era, where animals roamed free and men with large wooden tools worked the land until the sun came to set. The imagery is very much in-keeping with the sleepy hamlet that is Grafton Regis. Our other party members enjoyed flank of beef, which was as tender as a kiss and the burger of the week, which can only be described as monstrous. An argument ensued over where the flank is located. One well-read lady within our group was insistent it was around the hip. We would have checked by asking our phones for the answer mid-meal, but this is not the kind of pub where one gets their phone out halfway through a meal, nor are we such people. At the end of the mains, we were all exceedingly full, apart from one of us who felt he needed to have a sticky toffee pudding with custard. Judging by the salivating and slobbering going on, we assume he felt this a necessary addition.Enough praise cannot be heaped on The White Hart, from the warmth of the staff to the generous portion sizes and delicious flavours. And of course, no visit would ever be complete without a fleeting glimpse of Head Chef Alan, whose entrances have become de rigueur.

The Folly Inn

23/02/2020: first impressions are always good, car park full of cars, the inn itself looked lovely well cared for ,thought from the outside it was going to be a dark quaint country pub.looks can be so wrong.inside it was light bright, still keeping its quaint thatched feel.the staff were lovely.the service was prompt, not too much on the menu but the choice was plenty.i chose the onion soup with the cheesy croton and my husband had the cheese soufflé's.bothe were absolutely delicious.for the mains I had the roast pork and my husband had the sea bass.he doesn't like risotto so asked if some thing else could be put on instead which wasn't a problem.the roast was lovely except I found the meat to be bit tough which spoilt it somewhat and I really missed a good piece of crackling.the Yorkshire was huge but I managed to get through it.the sea bass wasnt good at all it was so over cooked it was nearly inedible.when we mentioned this our waiter he did explain what had gone wrong in the kitchen.we don't usually return to somewhere where the food wasn't top notch but the staff were so nice and accommodating and it had such a nice feeling in the restaurant even though we travelled from Irchester we are going to return to try it one more time
10/03/2020: Have eaten at the Folly on many occasions but never for Sunday lunch. What a treat. Lovely roasts and super service. Great - as ever.
