Unfortunately walked into this hell hole, never again. There was LGBTQ+ community that thought it was acceptable to “FLASH” their phallus in the middle of bar while children present. The locals just seemed to laugh and thought it was acceptable. VULGAR.

Me and my husband were visiting the village this weekend and decided to go into this pub for a quiet drink early Saturday afternoon. First impressions were good, the place was clean and tidy and the young girl behind the bar who served us was very friendly and accomodating, after being there for a short while one of the other customers, clearly a regular from the way she was talking was in the other side of the pub with two other males and seemed to get louder and louder over a short period of time and started talking about drugs and even at one point went to collect them from outside the pub, she was very rude to the young girl behind the bar and made us feel very uncomfortable having to witness this behaviour meaning we could no longer enjoy our drinks and felt the need to leave. I think it is a disgrace that this behaviour is going on and such a shame that it is happening.

Thanks to the white hart for a great night. A great boozer. Although it was the 6th Jan only a week into the new year, the service was great. I want to recommend "holly" for the prompt service and how well she conducted the transaction of our drinks. A traditional pub with a great atmosphere.

Visit the Whitehart quite regularly, its a lovely old pub, what I would call a 'proper pub'. It has two main bar areas, the lounge is really cosy and nostalgic, especially in the winter when the roaring fire is crackling away. Always have a good range of sport on in the bar area if thats your thing. Ale is important here, and the range available on tap tastes fantastic, and if like me you like guiness, its one of the best pints i've ever tasted. We have also eaten here numerous times, the pub has a lovely old restaurant upstairs with various rooms available. Recommend you book in advance though to avoid disappointment. Food is beautiful and great value for money. Staff have always looked after us and cant do enough to make your visit a pleasent one. Its a real gem of a pub, as its so old, its rather charming. Highly recommended dont miss out.

Having tried a couple of pubs in Penkridge for food, varying in prices and quality, I was happy to find somewhere else to try that wasn’t going to break the bank. I found the White Hart just by googling and was impressed by the choice offered on their fixed price menu. 3 courses for £15 did worry me a little but after seeing a few good reviews thought it was worth a try. I booked a table for 4 for a Saturday night no problem. I would say, please don’t be put off by the rather dark and ‘local’ feeling bar which you must enter to go up to the restaurant. After ordering some drinks at the bar we were taken upstairs through a bit of a warren to the restaurant (mind your head if over 5ft tall!). Pleasantly set out, although very warm! The young lady serving was lovely and very attentive. It wasn’t particularly busy but I never felt we were left waiting for long. Between 4 of us we tried the stuffed mushrooms, meatballs and gnocchi for starter. Burger, duck and steak for mains, banoffee pie, cheesecake, ice-cream and fudge cake for deserts. All well-presented, good portions and delicious. I was told the cheesecake was a little bland but it still got finished! One of the party also fancied the cheese but thought a full portion would be too much, the waitress kindly offered to do a half portion which was much appreciated. We will definitely be going back!

We were staying in a local hotel but wanted to go out for dinner in one of the local pubs/restaurants. We booked a table in the restaurant (upstairs) for Saturday evening. This place is great value for dinner; £15 for 3x courses. The food was absolutely lovely and tasty. The staff could not be more helpful or attentive; really appreciated the service plus friendliness. The bar downstairs was really busy, with live music. We had a few drinks before leaving. We would gladly return.

After walking through what I thought was a very tired pub and the overwhelming feeling of dread as to where & what to expect, with a what seemed to be either a karaoke singer on. We were led up a set of stairs and through a web of small corridors to a very pleasant room set up with around 5 dining tables. The staff were really lovely and had a very happy disposition. Now to the food "Oh my goodness" I do hope you have a hearty appetite as the dishes are huge. The food was really tasty with lots of choice and the value for money was amazing. Would I drink down stairs in the pub? No I would have a few drinks in the Littleton across the road first and then arrive in time for your very pleasing meal. Would we go again? Oh Yes.

Visited this homely looking pub after going to the nearby market. Ordered a pub meal that was all home cooked. Plenty of fresh ingredients, well cooked and good portions. The desserts were a good size and I had cheese and biscuits with 10 crackers and7 pieces of cheeses with a bunch of grapes. Staff all friendly and helpful. Talking to the owner who showed us the a la carte restaurant upstairs he is hoping to open that side more often so we will definitely be going again. The a la carte prices were very good. Think the chef had a bad night on our visit. Mussels were served unopened so couldn't be eaten, pork chops were actually pork loin which was very tough, the steak was beautfully tender but looked and tasted more like rib-eye than fillet and was spoiled by the extraordinary amount of garlic in the sauce which didn't taste of pepper at all, the tarte tatin was actually sliced apples on a small pancake. However, we couldn't fault the staff who were friendly and dealt with our complaints immediately. The mussels were taken off the bill, the steak was taken back without question and we were given a free round of drinks with many apologies. We were a bit disappointed really given the good reviews here so maybe it was a different chef who seriously needs to go easy on the garlic! So we had mixed views really, some good some bad but it wasn't a very expensive meal so although we probably wouldn't return it's worth a visit as they do have some really good reviews and other diners appeared more than happy with their meals.

On booking, in the pub bar, and finding the deal was £15 for three courses, we expected basic pub food. When we arrived we were taken upstairs and given an exceptional menu. The food was outstanding and the chef came out for a chat at the end of the meal. The menu is changed regularly but some locals who we spoke to assured that the quality is always the same. Service was also very good. They need to raise their profile to get more people in, being above the pub hides the quality of this small but perfectly formed restaurant. Well done to the chef and all the staff involved in the service of a great meal and great value.

I was surprised to arrive and be taken upstairs to the restaurant to find there was nobody there!First impressions accessing the restaurant upstairs is a little strange walking through quite a bit of corridor it does feel like somebody's house. We were given the menu which had some really lovely options available in fact I struggled to choose. However this doesn't show the prices so we had to ask it is £15 for 3 courses which was exceptional value.Service was very attentive and friendly, we ordered and then were given a pre starter of a Brie bruschetta which was lovely. I then had a pate for starter with aubergine, veg and goats cheese for main, finishing with a chocolate pancotta.Overall absolutely great food really well cooked and perfect sized portions.I would go back based on this and recommend to others but you have to get past feeling like your sat in somebody's front room. We were on a long journey up to a wedding and wanted to find somewhere to eat dinner. I searched places not too far from the M6 north of Birmingham. To be brief the food was superb and great value for money at £15 for 3 courses. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience this was great food cooked by a chef who cared. More details below:We arrived after booking a table over the phone and were led upstairs through many low doors to a delightful eating area away from the noise of the busy pub below. The walls were decorated with photo prints of historic buildings with interesting facts written below. The service was prompt and we ordered from a menu of excellent set menu chooses with a few extra charges here and there for sides. We had time so we went for 3 courses. We were brought delicious appetisers of toast with marinaded lamb with melted goats cheese and cress. I usually dislike goats cheese with a passion so for me to enjoy the overall flavour impressed me greatly. Our starters bubble and squeak with poached egg turned out to be crispy fried potato discs mixed in with veg with a light balsamic dressing, salad and a perfectly poached egg. Things were going well we both thought this a chef who cares about the quality and presentation of what was served. For our mains my wife had minted lamb with mash and roasted veg but I choose pork tenderloin which was char-grilled with a red wine sauce, again roast veg and mash. These were filling but yummy. We made space for our desserts of Belgium chocolate sponge with freah strawberries and pancakes with fresh fruit and cream. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience to eat here. I would recommend to anyone nearby or searching for a wonderful meal especially if they are travelling North on the M6.

The food quality was very good, portions were small to average. We went up some stairs though some corridors on the way to the restaurant, these corridors/passageways had strange smell possibly damp, they were extremely cold. On entering the restaurant it appeared warm but after sitting there a while we were still cold. The toilet on the same floor was out of order so we had to go back down the stairs to another one towards the rear of the building, not the nicest place to go when eating out. After the meal we thought we would go down stairs to the lounge to warm up, it was also cold in there, a nice laid out log fire but not lit. We left and said we wouldn't go back. This restaurant as no access for the disabled, it would be impossible for someone with mobility problems to get to the restaurant. Its a shame that these bad points let the restaurant down as the food was okay.

Myself and family have now been quite a few times to the White Hart since it opened. We can absolutely say that this young crew although young in age certainly in my opinion know how to run a pub/restaurant and have Jack a chef who at 25 cooks fantastic tasty beautifully presented food. Joe the restaurant manager and Ellie are so polite, efficient and will go the extra mile to give you a smile and ask if there is anything you would like without being too intrusive. Last night a sample meal; Appetiser:Ciabatta with pickled pork and relishStarter:Ham hock terrine, Mustard aioli, watercress Palette Cleanser:Strawberry sorbet.Main:Lamb Noisette with veg, sweet potato, carrot crisp, chocolate jus.Dessert:Shortbread biscuits with Chantilly cream & Balsamic Strawberry'sDrinks are very reasonable with quite a good selection for all tastes although could do with a few real ales to make things more interesting, but this does not detract from the olde worlde charm of this old village landmark being kept alive very well by Jack the owner. If you don't go for a meal you are definitely missing out on a treat !!! If you don't feel hungry then just go for a drink either in the lounge where we sit on the comfy leather sofa or the bar area where on the weekend they have music.

The food was excellently presented, the chef obviously has attention to detail. The food was melt in the mouth, gorgeous! The waitress knew all about the menu, asked about drinks and couldn't do enough to make the meal a pleasurable time. The restaurant is well presented, clean and has pictures and historical facts about the surrounding villages. I have and will continue to dine here. The drinks and bar staff are pleasant and welcoming - a wonderful place to have a night out!

Took my husband and 14 family and friends to celebrate his birthday. We had a room to ourselves which was great as together we were quite loud. The food was fantastic and everyone at the table seems to enjoy every course we ordered. The staff were fabulous and they catered for everyone even bring in the surprise cake. Would recommend to anyone to try it the food is amazing and for the cost perfect. Best place in the village for food.

We called in on the way home from a morning out and ate in the bar because we had a wheel chair user with us and the restaurant is upstairsWe ordered Burger and gammon both very good but the pot of tea was the worst I have ever had. Clearly the very young barman does not make tea very often. However, mains under £7. and good food we would certainly return.

A friend recommended the White Hart commenting that it had good reviews. The last time we eat there was many years ago though I have been in for a pint. The food was excellent and the price very good. I had mushrooms, steak and cheese. All excellent and definitely prepared on the premises. We'll look to go again.

Great food and excellent value fixed price menu.Unexpected surprise dinning upstairs but surroundings are very pleasant. Can not fault the food, good quality produce cooked well. Table for 8 served efficiently and nice extras between courses. Beer is excellent with varied choice of real ales. The Littleton needs to up its game, because this is far better quality & value for money. Keep up the good work lads.

Called in here for the first time whilst in the area for some light lunch (Sunday). We were quickly shown a table by a very nice member of staff who served us throughout. My wife, daughter and I had a nice omelette each and hot drinks. Service was lovely. It’s a cosy, friendly place, it was a tad too hot for me if I’m honest, it could have done with a little ventilation as the cooking area is just partly segregated off the main dining area. A lovely stop off never the less. The garden centre that it’s part of is quite big & seemed to stock a very good range of healthy looking plants. There’s a small toilet block outside just off the car park.

Great beer by a great company. Never had a bad pint of Bathampton from a Bathampton owned pub

Excellent Chocolate Orange milkshake. Young staff seemed more interested in talking than serving. Highchairs and takeaway available.
