Lovely place to go and eat out. Great food, nice atmosphere and lovely, friendly landlady! We had a great time.. will definitely go back. Thank you guys xxx

This was our local for many years and sadly always struggled but always had had a decent pint, we moved from the area bit thought it would be nice for a couple this evening , Wow! What a hole! This has sadly gone down hill, the decor is tatty, terrible tasting drinks ( on draft) toilets needed a good clean, plenty of heavy swearing from punters ( with kids in the bar) with outland lord blinking and addressing .. such a shame.

Very welcoming, great personal service. Food was reasonably priced and delicious. We had the cicken and bacon club and upgraded to cheesy chips. Really would recommend a visit.

It was absolutely phenomenal! The company, the music, the food, the drink; everything absolutely blew us away here. Cannot thank everyone enough for all the wonderful hospitality, will definitely be back!

I've been here for a carvery and it was absolutely amazing! The food was so tasty! We was welcomed by such kind and friendly staff and we were walked down to our table and the service was absolutely 5 star!!!!! We will be going alot more after the experience.

Called in with my husband, sister, and brother in law for a meal while we had a catch up. Nice relaxed atmosphere, pleasant staff. We all enjoyed our meals and we will call again if over this way again . Think my sister and husband will call in too.

called in last year and vowed never to go back! Luckily we heard that new owners had improved the pub so we called in. Very happy to say that we were impressed with all the changes made and food/service and particularly staff helpfulness were very good. We will use this pub again and looking forward to booking a carvery on a Sunday.

Me and my sister called in this lovely pub for a meal has its got new people now to give it a try, and i can say we wasn't disappointed, we had fish and chips peas and the fish was so tasty and a good size we will definitely be going again. Since the New Management have taken over the food and service has been excellent the staff are very friendly and helpful We would definitely recommend this Pub for a social drink or a Meal Dog friendly too 🐶

Sunday carvery very very disappointing, asked the difference between standard and large was told extra meat and an extra Yorkshire pudding only to be told no you don’t get an extra Yorkshire pudding, no condiments so asked for them, they were then slammed on the table. Waiting staff clearly not properly trained. Overpriced for barely warm food and no warm welcome. This pub is destined to close as it has owner after owner and no one can make it a success. How difficult is good quality hot food with a welcoming smile and not overpriced, so sad it now has new owners again that can’t make it a success too. Won’t be returning until they’ve learned how to deal with customers and serve proper food.

Had a very nice evening with friends in this pub. Staff very friendly and attentive. the food was excellent and reasonably prices as were the drinks. They have separate cooking utensils and pans for people who require a gluten free diet. All in all, a very good establishment. Would highly recommend.

After many months of not going out a lot and following recommendations from our neighbours we decided to see if there was availability for a Saturday evening meal.Fortunately on telephoning we were told there was a table available.On arrival we were warmly welcomed and shown to a table. we were given a menu and drinks orders were taken. I had the nachos with dips for starters followed by a steak meal and Terry had prawn cocktail and scampi meal.We both found the food well cooked, well presented and very enjoyable.We found the staff to be very friendly, helpful and attentive.Following our excellent meal and paying we went through to the bar area where we relaxed and i had coffee and Terry had a further beer.There was a good selection of draught beers, wines and spirits and pleasing for Terry, cask ales.We had a most enjoyable evening and said we'd return.As we enjoyed our experience the night before so much we decided to ring and rather than cook at home decided to book for Sunday lunch.We are so glad we made this decision as once again we were warmly greeted by the staff and shown to a table. After ordering drinks we were that the normal menu was available as well as the Sunday carvery . We decided to stick with plan A and ordered the Sunday carvery. There were 3 plate sizes. I had the medium plate and Terry went for the large. There was a choice of 3 meats which all looked delicious and accompliments were added to the plate and there was an excellent choice of self service vegetables and gravy and sauces.We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal and so glad we made the choice to dine there. We managed to find a space for a shared dessert of ice cream sundae which rounded off the meal perfectly.Following the meal we once again went through to the bar area for coffee and a drink.Many thanks to all the staff who made our visit enjoyable and we look forward to returning in the near future.

Went on the spot for Sunday dinner couldn't find anywhere, came to the White Hart and found that the staff couldn't help you enough, where friendly helpful and with a lovely smile. Helped to us to out table ordered a carvery. One of the best carvery had in a long time, lots of flavour and choices. Amazing home cooked food that was served with a smile and helpfulness. Recommend anyone to try the food and atmosphere down at the White Hart definitely be back again 10 out of 10 guys. You do yourselves proud

My family and I had lunch here yesterday (a Saturday), having booked at 1pm. It took a while to decide what to get because they have a large menu. I had the chicken and bacon salad, which was so nice with tender, juicy, and large chunks of chicken. My 4-year-old had the burger, potato waffles, and carrots and ate it all up. My husband had this colossal cheeseburger with chips. My father-in-law had a steak and kept saying it was superb and an excellent cut of meat. My mother-in-law had the lasagna. We were all extremely impressed (and FWIW, to some of the people who have left crazy reviews here: we've eaten at some of the top restaurants in the world). We had potentially difficult people (elderly, child) to please and they certainly did a great job and everyone was satisfied, thank you.Other things to add: All members of staff were polite, unintrusive (non-hovering), and friendly. The cutlery and tables were perfectly clean. Apparently, the beer was excellent. We really are considering making this place a regular, as it's local and such a good feed. Next time, I'm trying a dessert!

Called today for the first time in absolutely ages. We were waited on by 2 lovely, polite young ladies who were very attentive, but not intrusive. Our meal consisted of 2 lighter bites-hunters chicken and sausage and mash as well as a nacho starter and hot chocolate fudge cake pudding. Everyone one of these dishes was faultless,from the overly generous portions to the temperature of the food (lovely and hot, which in my experience is something very rarely found when eating out these days) I shall certainly have no hesitation in recommending The White Hart to friends and family and I am already dreaming of another hot chocolate fudge cake-with ice cream.Lovely!

Visited 1st August for my wife to celebrate birthday with family.Would have been better in a transport cafe.Table for 10 booked for Sunday lunch at 1.00 pm.We arrived on time, very little staff on view to greet. Once we found someone to speak to, a young man shouted to someone in the rear, "what shall I do with these people?" a voice replied " oh, sit them in the bar"After an hour, my daughter tried to get served, the reply was "I've just got to refill the food".Please note there was less than 20 customers in the entire pub.Eventually, we were served food, in twos.The plates were cold, the Yorkshire puddings could have been used for cricket, the cabbage was cooked in June, the roast potatoes had been incinerated and the peas belonged on a string of beads.We were forced to sit over 3 tables, and the staff acted like zombies, lifeless with no personality or eye contact.We were overcharged and the bar person really struggled to perform a debit card refund.All in all a Great birthday...... I Don't Think.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The best place for food. The burgers that we had was incredible. 4 burgers and added chicken. A real belly buster. We wanted a pudding but after the meal we was too full. Absolutely amazing, I DON'T Think. I just love how the broccoli was smashed to pulp & swimming in water and then I found out how nice the Yorkshire puddings were, hard, stone cold & claggy only fit for the crows in the trees outside. The gravy was the consistency of tasteless quick sand. The food was tepid and the plates like ice ,to say that the food carver had only just replenished the food. The all round service was lousy to say the least.Just can't wait to return .............

We've been to The White Hart several times before, and it's always been good. This time we were very disappointed. I will say that I had the carvery, which was fine, but my husband and son had the cheese and bacon burger which was really poor. They both said the chips were terrible and the burgers were really small and poorly presented. We were disappointed that a full menu didn't seem to be on offer, as my husband was thinking of having mixed grill. As a previous reviewer said, this place seems to have gone downhill in lockdown.

Have been to this place numerous times before lockdown and never has a problem before. Last night our food was ok, we both had steak which was cooked as we asked for although we weren't offered steak knives. The Diane sauce was cool and tasteless. We weren't offered a specials menu, I assumed they weren't using one until one was offered to the table next to us, which was disappointing as I usually order from it. When we asked for the bill we were given someone else's, the 2nd bill was also someone else's the 3rd one we had been charged for 2 bottles of wine instead of 2 glasses, the 4th one they hadn't added a dessert so we finally paid on the 5th attempt. People make mistakes I accept that but we did not receive one single apology.

We used to enjoy visiting here, because the food used to be quite good, fair price and local, which is important to us.I don't know if there has been a change of kitchen staff lately but the standard of food was poor. They had sold out of sirloin steak so I had a ribeye, which was of very poor quality and expensive for what it was.This together with cloudy and sour real ale, (slightly better after being changed) and a sliver of apple pie with pastry that had turned to glue in the microwave. The one saving grace of the meal was the lovely custard with the apple pie.If this is now the new standard of the White Hart, it is our last visit.

Both of our meals were well cooked and nicely presented. Friendly albeit inexperienced waitress and pleasant atmosphere. Clean interior and good value for money.

Visited during outside dining, there were only a couple of other tables so we had very quick service. I think it was a limited menu, but the food was nice. I would have liked bigger portions for the cost, and drinks are quite pricey. Other than that, I have no complaints and would definitely come again to see what the inside is like.

My cousin and I called here for lunch with his black Labrador. At the moment it’s outdoor table service only, and the service was excellent - prompt and friendly and it included water and treats for the dog.The food was fresh and tasty as well as being very reasonably priced I’d definitely recommend the bacon cheeseburger as well as the apple pie with custard!The pub is clean and looks very well maintained, with plenty of parking.Overall a really nice experience and we will certainly go back.

Me and my fiancé decided to drop in to this dump a couple Friday nights ago and I wish we didn’t don’t it was an absolute disgraceWaitresses , bar tenderes constantly on their phones instead of tending to tables as well as the chief coming out a a couple times CLEARLY DRUNK or on something! Tables weren’t clean and people on shift constantly touching their faces and clearly with dirty hands, the chief also wearing no mask or gloves and with dirty hands when coming out filthyNo hand sanitiser visible as well As for the food we had a sirloin which was raw as well as the chips being dry found hairs in the food also!!We complained but was told (Were doing our best)Never going back will be telling friends not to go

We arrived and waited to be seated. Whilst doing so one member of our party checked in on the Govt covid app. After 10 minutes when we were finally acknowledged we were told we all had to check-in, my wife and I do not have phones which this is possible on so the shirty waiter told us we could all check in together on the pubs own covid list but needed to use my friends mobile to do this. Everywhere else we have been there has been no need for this as long as 1 person checks in and then says how many there is in the party. We were then seated and served drinks. We ordered food which took a while to arrive but nothing too long as we thought it must be being prepared fresh, Errrr no. The chicken pie was under seasoned, the mashed potatoes were hard and crispy on the outside, the carrots were stone cold and over-cooked. At almost 10 pounds per meal tbh I would expect better.

Went for a meal tonight. Apparently they doing track and trace with mobile phones. We didnt have a mobile phone on us. We lived 10 mile away from home and because we had no phone we were told we couldent be served. Went to a marstons 2 mile down round explained we had no mobile phone not a problem the person behind bar booked us in with a mobile phone. Not everyone is going to have a mobile phone. No wonder the restaurant was empty.

Sunday carvery is excellent value for the price. A good selection of meat and vegetables and best of all we could help ourselves as plastic gloves were available to use. Hygiene and sanitising were always available

My wife has already reviewed this restaurant on social media and received a private message from an employee calling her a keyboard warrior. As you can see from the responses to other reviews on this board, they are not a happy lot.In my opinion, even though the staff said they were fully compliant with the new covid rules, it felt too cramped. Going to our table, we were too close to other diners, staff etc. Staff were too close to each other.I have been before to this restaurant and this time the atmosphere, service, friendliness etc were gone. One of the waiteress' was incredibly rude to another party. We would have left but my mother in law had travelled some distance and it wouldn't have been fair to her. We didnt go to the establishment for the eat out deal that the government are using to support the hospitality industry. We eat out often. I can recommend the Tickled Trout and the Peacock at Barlow or Macdonalds at Duckmanton, all are much better.

Its very strange to feel like an inconvenience in a pub, but that is what customers are here. The food is some of the worst I've ever eaten, we have visited 6+ times because its close, but we got bored of paying for grim packet food. Supporting local is important to me, but dont make an effort to make it worth visiting.

Booked a table for 4.00 pm. Ordered our meal and it was served promptly, food piping hot and well presented, steak was cooked to perfection. Staff very friendly and efficient. In the present climate couldn't fault a thing. Well done White Hart.

Sat here from 8 table was booked for 730 on arrival at 715/720 was stood at the bar not acknowledged for well over 10 mins despite being at the bar. Ordered drinks. Told the table will be 5 mins just being cleared. 35 mins later asked what's happening? Then we were put on a table.20 mins later we had to ask to order. As were hungry and sat waiting for table service. (Lockdown so didnt want to go to bar) was told no steaks.. only one sirloin left so ordered that and changed my order to a gammon. 30 mins later we needed more drinks so shouted someone over to order.Over heard lady telling tables next to us only fillets available... I asked why when we were told no steaks available soni had to change my order.. asked to change to fillet. They went to ask and then agreed this would be I then said of there are steaks I wanted a steak please can I have a steak after a chat with he chief if got a steak ordered. 20 mins later we asked if our drink had been forgotten as we were still sat and others around us who ordered after were getting their drinks. (They apologised and said she had forgotten to put it through)It's now 922 and still no sign of food. We are debating leaving and going to mcdonalds. Bloody fed up doesnt cover it.

Booked for a catch up with a friend. Were seated and order promptly taken. That's the good part. The food arrived, one burger, one fish. Dont come here if you have a healthy appetite as we had about 10 chips each. The fish batter was an unappetising dark brown, soggy and the fish was square. Cutting into the fish their was a very strange middle section that you could not cut nor would attempt to eat. We wanted some salt and pepper but no staff came near us in our little section so we resigned ourselves that this wasn't going to be an option. 45 minutes later we managed to get a waitresses attention to ask for dessert. We asked for two cups of tea also. The most bizarre reply to this request was ' no hot drinks being served as we are almost out of milk and have a funeral tea in this afternoon so are saving it for them!!!!!'. Well how do you respond to that! I wouldn't deprive a funeral tea of milk certainly not but there is a shop within walking distance, could they not have bought some more? Plus, neither of us were particularly bothered about milk and can drink tea Black. Dessert arrived but no drinks appeared, we had settled for a soft drink. The lemon cheesecake that we both ordered was still frozen in the middle. Again no one was around to be told. A further half hour wait we managed to ask for the bill, we didn't explain why we had left the cheesecake as by this time it had defrosted! It was a complete shambles to be honest and wasn't even busy. I guess the afternoon funeral tea took presidence over the lunchtime guests which is a shame. If they were struggling then perhaps they shouldn't have opened to the public that lunchtime.

We arrived tonight at 17. 30 after ringing to ask for any tables and was told if table was free outside u can eat so we travelled there and I spoke to the lady on the bar who told me to take a menu and served me my drinks once family had chosen what they wanted we was told at bar they was no longer serving outside to non bookings free two conversations and totally wasting out time ...The service here is disgusting and I work for a pub branch so I will be telling anybody to stay well clear of the place the attitude the lies and the total non regard for customers I would never enter the pub again

Enquired and booked via Facebook/Messenger, so very reactive there which is a good start.Dogs are welcome in the bar, but not the restaurant area (perfect way of doing it) which is where we sat. It wasn’t crowded and as we were in sight of the bar staff it wasn’t difficult to receive service when needed. Food was nice and hot, and I was offered a variation to what I chose from the menu – this proved to be a better meal and better value than what I was expecting.All in all we were well satisfied. The booking was good, the staff very friendly, the food plentiful and enjoyable, and we left well filled but not overspent.

Would just want to say how amazing the service was today for the first day it’s been open since lockdown. All social distancing was adhered to and the staff were absolutely on form. Definitely will be going back again. It’s made me more at ease knowing I can go out and socialise whilst being save. The staff couldn’t be more helpful. Thank you to you all

Passed this pub several weeks ago in the evening looked a good place to eat so decided to call for lunch on our next visit to chesterfield, what a big mistake. No one available to meet us on arrival so had to wait a while for someone to seat us. When seated no one came to inform us of the protocol for ordering drinks or food, another wait - had to ask, another wait, ordered drinks and food, we were then informed that there no stock of my chosen white wine so had to choose the only one available, another wait, then informed no stock of the red wine my husband had chosen, another wait for the arrival of the drinks but finally they did arrive, now for the food order I ordered scampi and fries and my husband ordered burger and fries, simple Order you would say, no after another wait the waitress appears again, very sorry we have no chips we are waiting for them to be delivered will be a 10-15 minutes wait, would you like mash, or sweet potatoes? By this time I am ready to up and leave but my husband is very laid back and said we would wait. The wait was only the 10 minutes promised much to my surprise, on arrival we were asked if we wanted any sauces, I asked for tartar sauce and yes you will have guessed it none available. We were told that the pub had recently been taken over and Marsons hadn’t supplied the stock, my answer to this fact if true was the pub/restaurant should have closed until they could offer menu and drinks as advertised. The only consolation was the drinks was taken off the bill. Will not be visiting this place again and wouldn’t recommend to anyone, if this is the way pub/restaurants are run I am not surprised they are all closing down

Popped into here for lunch twice over the last three weeks. Nice welcome, good beer and tasty food off the lunchtime menu. Good value for money. Will return.

Went there for the carvery today to round off a lovely birthday weekend, we had booked a table but when we got there the carvery was shut. They told us they would still dobus a roast as we'd booked, was a bit dubious but went with it. The food that came out was absolutely dreadful! Dry, burnt was the worst roast ive ever had! We use this pub alot but has recently changed hands. There are a lot of bad reviews on their FB page but they remove them. Please save your money otherwise you'll be very disappointed.

First visit here for food on the spur of the moment whilst on the way to visit someone in the local hospital. What can I say except everyone and everything was spot on the staff were excellent and helpful even though we hadn’t booked and they were packed they found us a table . The food was as you would expect carvery and veg on a Sunday why you would expect a full menu I don’t know. We went for the large carvery but didn’t need to medium would have been plenty , 4 joints all very nice , ok the beef was too well done and so was the turkey but it was nice all the same , veg was good and fresh and way better than most carveries (Toby) the only thing I would say in criticism is don’t re fill the veg and gravy with old plastic food buckets it looks bad , better to take the old veg away and replace. With completely different dish. Bet all a great value carvery and we will Come back highly recommended

Went for Sunday Carvery for family meal to celebrate my grandson 21at birthday, lovely pub, welcoming staff and amazing food, what more do u need.Definitely recommend this pub for any occasion.

Booked this place without looking at the feedback, big mistake, come on Marston’s you should not be letting this happen.Booked a table for eight people for Sunday lunch. Looking at the menu, on line, there was plenty to chose from and enough variety to suit everyone’s taste. We all sat down and after asking for the menu we were told they only did a carvery on a Sunday and not even starters to make do with. There was no mention of this at the time of booking and nothing on their web site. Alarm bells should have rung when we noticed the place was nearly empty when all the others in the area were fully booked. That’s another 8 people not going back here.

Chosen as an ideal central location for a special get-together for 8 old friends from Derby, Barnsley, Chesterfield and Matlock based on information on website. Website includes limited lunchtime menu Mon-Fri but main menu includes lots of excellent choices, presumably every day. . Arrived for Sunday lunch, good location and parking, set up a"tab", went into restaurant and asked for menu. Told "Sorry, only do a carvery on Sundays"(!) ; no starters, no other menu available"!Not everyone wanted a carvery, so we upped and left and (fortunately) found somewhere else. The staff didn't seem bothered.There is no mention on the website that they only do a carvery on Sundays, and this was not pointed out when the booking was made. Their website says:"Special food offers throughout the week" ( that's 7 days in my book)"Whatever day you decide to come, there will be something the whole family can enjoy". " (unless it's a Sunday and you only want a carvery?!)".....delicious Sunday Carvery ALSO on offer".(As well as what?!!!).Our past experience of Marstons is that one can usually expect a high and consistent level of service, good choice, and accurate information, as is the case with their "Little Castle" restaurant nearby. Go there instead, you get what it says on the can.

Phoned to book a table for Sunday booked a 3 pm meal to miss the Carvery that states on the website it finishes at 2.30pm , arrived for a quiet meal to be told the carvery goes on all day and we could not have freshly cooked food of any other kind. we had only the carvery to choose from, it was cold some parts were inedible and vegetables were raw and unable to be cut with the cutlery provided, Stuffing ball was rock solid as was the yorkie pud. Previous owners we have always rated them excellent ,these new owners may last a while on the reputation of there predecessors but customers like us that will visit now will be dissapointed and not return.

Really fab thumbs up from lLewis food really good and also the SpongeBob ice cream would deff go back for an early drink and food. Much better than previous landlords

We've had many brilliant meals here in the past, but this wasn't one of them. The service was slow, with quite a few items on the order being unavailable. When the food finally arrived it was fairly good on the whole with the exception of a salad, which was pretty uninspiring for the price, but it was the wait that was the stand out issue for us, and from comments we heard from other customers, we weren't the only group having issues, with one couple taking over two hours for their meal. I understand the pub is under new management and I really hope they can get back to the old standard of both food and service.

We had read some bad reviews and thought nowhere could be as bad as in the past it has been excellent. We decided to call in for lunch and was bitterly disappointed, the lad serving was doing his best but the food was slow coming from the kitchen. One burger and one gammon meal took two hours from ordering to being served. The pub was not at all busy although people at two different tables who came in a good while after us were served well before us. When the food came the gammon steak, more like a rasher of bacon, was burnt as well as the pineapple topping and the burger was cremated. Needless to say we will certainly no go there until they sort themselves out. If it is the cost of employing a decent cook that is the problem then they won't be open much longer.
