Stayed at the hotel over night. Great atmosphere, very quirky and old. Clean and comfortable. Could do with a little re vamp, coat of paint & new curtains but otherwise great for what we paid. All staff are friendly. Would recommend for a reasonable priced stay over.

Stayed just one night with breakfast included. Staff were very nice and couldn't fault the evening meal (30% off as we were staying) or the breakfast. Positives: Quiet room, good shower. Comfy bed, think it was queensize. Hairdryer in the room. Great location. Negatives: could do with redecorating. Mirror had obviously fallen from the wall, so couldn't see yourself in it to dry your hair. No headboard. Leaky bathroom radiator which was on constantly even though it was summer.

The Karaoke was a ball, Steph, Juliette, Bryn and Daisey were great hosts, it makes a change from the Odd Couple that have been hovering around recently. I understand that new managers need to learn but, my friend Sid han been banned for no reason other than Speciesm, they are more corporate than the Labour Party of the 90's. Whilst I am on a rant, buy a new Boiler it is cost effective to get an energy efficiant modern Boiler, rather than spending and spending on keeping the old boiler, wheezing, like a smoking Asthmatic. Jade, Juliette and the staff are capable of running the Hart, consider it as bonding and team building.

My wife and I enjoyed a meal here last Saturday night. My wife chose the Steak Surf & Turf which was OK, but nothing special. I had the Cowboy Burger, a double burger with American cheese, some chopped lettuce and crispy bacon on top of a toasted bun, served with McDonald-style fries and burger sauce in a separate dish This burger was exceptional, probably the best I have ever had in a pub in the UK! I'm not a chip lover, but I eat ever one of my fries, even though they could have been hotter and I had no salt on the table. The burger itself was superb, a really enjoyable experience. Well done with that one chef!

A quaint Hostlery, a place to imbibe a hearty cider with friends, Ghandi was not there on this fine day, the Colonel was sat on the bat watching the world go around, like the One Eyed Yellow Idol of a past poem. The White Hart is a breath of tradition in a town where the Pubs have been turned in to cold style Night Clubs, it has a rich history, where the hanging spot was in te 18th century. It is said that that the ghosts of the past still hauntthe walls of the hotel. There is the tale of the man, bald of head and fat of belly, a harmless slap in the night is worth the risk, for many stories he has to tell. Stayed in the hotel last year and was disappointed with the room which had torn net curtains and awful mouldy windowsills but the breakfast was good so as l was in the area again decided to take a friend there for lunch. Both ordered hunters chicken from the lite bite menu, the chicken was overcooked tough and chewy, the salad consisted of some shrivelled up dry lettuce and one tiny tomato.ordered the ice cream for pudding which was advertised as three scoops of vanilla ice cream with sauce, however we got two scoops and no sauce. One of the worse meals l have had in a long time. Credit where it’s due though the girl behind the bar was very pleasant

All in all I dread to think what state the kitchen is in and I think quiet frankly this place seriously needs a good check over or get a new cleaner for a start and someone who can cook and be able to do a simple gammon n chips very very poor and seriously need a good manager with some higher standards

Food was fresh and tasty and service was excellent. I stayed in room 9 in the stable block. It was warm, cosy and comfortable and very well decorated. The only criticism is the noisy water pipes that squeal sometimes when running. I noticed other visitors have made similar comments. As with this time of year the town is busier than usual, The meal was served in a seperate function room, however it was a bit like school dinners standard "hands up who wants soup" the the support courses were good but the traditional Festive dinner could have been better, vegetables and potato's were overcooked and stodgy not a great result. Overall the White Hart is more town centre pub than Hotel Still ther is always another year.

We specifically asked for a starter to come with the mains but no it came as a starter so we had to wait for the rest of the food, so long I then had to go back to the bar. No peppers for the kids pizza, a special on the board not available and we were told about it 20 minutes in. No check back at any time to check we were happy , which we were certainly not. My wife walked in and asked if they were still serving food, they politely said yes and pointed to the wheel chair access around the side of the building. We were seated and asked for our drinks order then ordered food. After a long wait the wrong food was delivered and completely inedible.. I paid some of the bill and pointed out that if they could not cope it would be politer to tell us and admit they could not cope. We have waited this long to post this review because the head office was dealing with the complaint..Basically there are no disabled facilities at all (as we found out later). The management team are inept. My host for a Golden Wedding celebration (Sat. 7th Sept. '13) stumbled across this venue, having been let down by others including a lost deposit, and it was almost a last minute do or die booking. That turned out to be a really smart choice. The food was very good and Margaret the Landlady/Cook/Waiter could not have been more helpful, she really wanted us to enjoy the occasion. Following the booking being made the host decided that they would book a meal there for the day after the party (Sunday) for the close relatives. Knowing this, when the party was over the leftover sweets were put into the pub fridge ready to be eaten the next day at dinner. The next day nine of us arrived at the pub to be met by Margaret who showed us the Menu board. The menus were mainly of German origin but she took the trouble to explain all the items in fine detail then took the orders. When the meals arrived they were hot, looked good enough to eat and they were really delicious, I had Beef Olives my wife had Beef Stroganoff the meat was really well cooked as were the vegetables, full of flavour. We have had a lot of meals in Hotels but this was something else, it was excellent, forget the Michelin stars this was a real Sunday Dinner meal, We then had the leftover sweets from the night before followed by Tea/Coffee.The drinks from the Bar were very reasonably priced, the locals were very friendly. It is a pity that the pub suffers from a slow trade maybe because of the German style menus or its isolated location, but it really is a wonderful, down to earth village pub, it also has a 9 pin Skittle alley. There is a car park at rear.
