The White Hart in Wiltshire

Secluded, historic, picturesque, relaxed… with very enjoyable food served by very nice servers. Ours was Hattie and she was professional and fun. Probably should rate this 4.5 but that isn’t an option so i’ll err on the high side. Solid menu offerings nicely presented at reasonable cost. Best coffee I’ve had in a while, too. The by the glass wine list was really eclectic and offered a wide range of choices. In short, we plan to return.

We have not visited this pub for a number of years Really lovely building,seems lots of work has been done We normally really like Youngs pubs, especially when we go to London However I am afraid this pub needs help on food. We started with Tomato soup, very watery not good, I had the ham hock, very processed. Main course was Chicken pie, good quality chicken used in the pie but again very bland. Desserts were ice cream and crumble, both quite good compared to other courses. Youngs beer was good as usual. So we hope management notice help is needed in the kitchen.

Stayed here 38yrs ago on our Honeymoon, came back yesterday for lunch, was not disappointed was lovely to reminisce Lunch was delicious & staff helpful & friendly

Booked a table after a visit to Castle Coombe. Sat in their delightful garden with our 2 dogs and had a delicious roast. This is a fabulous inn built in the reign of Elizabeth I! Beautiful building, friendly staff, plenty of parking and great food, what more do you need

Excellent Sunday Lunch, which the whole family, including our 1 year old granddaughter, absolutely loved. The quality of the food and the service was also very good, keep up the good work.

The white hart is set in an idyllic location. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the choice of food as there were several things on the menu not available. As we were not from the area we had to settle for what they did have! We each ordered different main courses. I had the roast chicken which was basically a chicken breast portion with hard roast potatoes tough cabbage a roasted carrot & parsnip & beetroot. The Yorkshire was the best part! My husband had the tagine but was not impressed. My daughter chose the plant burger which was below average. The service was good & we were given a small discount due to the menu being limited. Although we did not complain he could see that we were very disappointed. We felt it was poor value for money.

Booked a table in the restaurant when we arrived we were told we had only booked a table for drinks who does that in a restaurant we were told we could eat in the bar area when my food arrived the roast potatoes were under cooked and hard

Very friendly and helpful staff and the food was amazing! Highly recommend the Sunday roast. My husband had the full English, and I had avocado and poached eggs for breakfast - both were delicious. The rooms were nice. All in all, good value for money.

Booked online a table outside for dinner, when arrived at 6pm were told we couldn’t eat outside on one of our rare sunny evenings, waited over an hour for food to be served & it did not appear to be overly busy, sorry guys you need to step up very disappointed in quality of food and service, it’s a lovely setting but sadly lacked everything else.

Perfect Sunday roast. What also makes it a lovely place to go is the staff are so polite and helpful . Go there you won’t be disappointed.

Good food, service and character, but watch out for the £6 bread and butter added!!!!! No set menus weekdays!! Just rather expensive a la carte!! Ordered the baked Camembert- asked for a little extra bread to go with it as it “never quite comes with enough” At bill time- found the extra slices of bread and butter given was charged at £6!!!! RIP off!! What a shame! Everything else was very good! Come on White Hart!- you’re better than this!!

Food ok, onion rings full of uncooked batter and dripping with oil. They bought out mains and starters at the same time? Not enough staff on, when meals were bought out there was no offer of condiments, and at no point did they ask how are meal was. I’ve eaten here before and it was better, seems like they have cut back of staff to save money, however in doing this the whole experience of eating out here is suffering.

Wonderful setting on a river, but I think we caught them on a bad day, staff seemed a bit stressed and service slow and had run out of a few options on the menu

The food was nice but very limited gluten free or low carb options and only ice cream as a gluten free dessert. The pub was clearly incredibly busy but service was quite slow and they could have done with more staff to manage the load. It’s a nice pub in a pretty setting but was cold in the main area and the wood burner was decorative and not giving out heat. Lots of potential to make it a really fantastic place to eat but wasn’t quite there for me this time.

Disappointing visit. On arrival told 2 dishes off menu, 2 of group ordered then told that was also unavailable. Chicken pie ordered & more like chicken stew with a bit of pastry put on top. Vegetables luke warm. When ordering drinks no ales available only lager! Have visited a couple of years ago & had very good visit. Appears to have gone down hill.

Booked a table for 7 for a special occasion and loved it. Great table, great food and fabulous service - although the barman was a bit surly. The pub is so pretty, interior decor is good and there’s a beautiful garden by a brook.

We recently visited as a group of 11 for a family lunch. Whilst the pub was very attractive and the food okay, the service was terrible. My daughter's meal didn't even make it to the table, despite asking twice where it was, so she was left hungry! When I approached to enquire for a third time the woman serving was incredibly rude. I would avoid unless you want to pay for rubbish service, plenty of other lovely pubs to visit in that area minus the arrogance.

We had the small plates from the menu. Priced at £10.00 and £8.00. While they were very nice they were incredible small. At approx £2.50 a mouthful it worked out very expensive. And still hungry

Very friendly and attractive pub close to Lucknam Park. Great service and the food was excellent. My hake was juicy and delicious, accompanied by peppers and spinach - highly recommend. My husband’s cod and chips was thick and perfectly cooked. We were both very impressed.

Returned to this picturesque pub/restaurant/hotel some 43 years after spending our first 2 nights as a married couple here. The 4 poster bed may have gone but the welcome, was just as warm as it was then, despite the rain. Kevin and his team were excellent, making our trip extra special. Food was delicious, we had breakfast and dinner on both days. Very pretty venue “olde worlde” pub with comfortable rooms and excellent choice of food. Great value. With lots of things to see close by, we will be back much sooner than 43 years
