The Whistle Stop in East Hampshire

I recently had a frustrating experience at this pub. I received an £85 parking fine for parking just 10 minutes, during which I bought a coke. I've tried calling the pub multiple times, but their phone number never answers, and there’s no way to email them a copy of the transaction. Most places like golf clubs and hotels have clear signage or an iPad to validate parking when you enter the premises, or someone asks you to do it. And if you do get a fine but can prove you were a paying customer, they waive it. But this pub is different. I wasn’t looking for a sign outside because, honestly, it’s a pub – you don’t expect a parking validation policy. I want to warn others: be careful when visiting this pub and parking. You might end up with a hefty fine for a quick visit. It’s clear they don’t prioritise customer service or transparency. Instead of making themselves available for contact, they seem to prefer hiding behind the supposed legitimacy of there being clear signage in the car park, while unfairly taking your hard-earned cash.

Connor and the Florio’s team served fantastic pizza with a smile to 100 18 year olds. It was fantastic. We definitely look forward to asking Connor to come back. PS we love to sneak into Liss on Friday night to get Pizza for the family, because they are so good.

These guys are scammers, not open 5pm - I got a parking ticket for going in the car park and not signing into their app, which I couldn't of course. Their response was aggressive and shocking - just awful. I have never been so summarily spoken down to before by any business wanting decent custom. DO NOT STOP here - they are not nice people.

Bloody good pub! Very much a dying breed of boozer, lovely people and atmosphere.

This is a bad pub. Do not waste your time. Or money. They also run a parking scam. Shameful people.

Wow what a place! Great atmosphere and loads of fun. Because I'm from Southampton they gave me an extra special warm welcome. Looking forward to the next time I can be there!

Has to be the worst pub in the UK very rude people they appear to be open but when they’re not then I find you for parking in the car park food is overpriced. This brilliant pub brought their mobile bar to our wedding last month. They sent a crew of fabulous bar staff. Our guests were able to enjoy drinks at sensible pub prices rather than inflated “event prices”. Big thank you to Sheryl and her team for a great job.

They have a new carpark thing in place which has signs that aren't that obvious at night. If you don't input your registration within the pub you get an £85 fine, no one in the pub informed us of this new rule either. Won't be going here again, greed really does run the world these days

Warm and friendly locals, really nice atmosphere and in the centre of town.

How horrible we parked in the car park to have lunch and I were closed and we got a parking fine for £85. This is a revenue raising horror and very malicious that the pub uses as you have to register as a customer in order not to be fined yet the pub is shut. I’m going to take issue with the pub and Horizen parking. They are ripping off everybody, the locals and the tourists. I we have talked already to others in the town, who are very upset as they are misrepresenting the goodwill and interests of everybody in the town Parking signage is not clear. It says to register as a customer on entry of the pub, but when the pub is shut they send you a fine for using the car park even though you’re a customer in a small village like this is his diabolically stupid and it May have a legal implications as well, as these fines are not just not in forcible, but questionably, misleading and dishonest

A nice friendly pub in which a went with my friend and her daughter, nice garden and would definitely go there again.

Lovely little English pub, has a quite section that’s indoors and more for the family style and has a outdoor area which allows smoking and has a great environment, lovely place unfortunate only has breakfasts and pub snack.

First visit her in a very long time... Drank here in the 1980's and great to revisit. Nice to see it is still a great pub, even though the prices have increased a bit!!! Good selection of beers and friendly service. Will pop back again next to me I am in Liss and add some photos...

We had a lovely welcome, asked for coffee not only did it taste great it was only £2 a cup cheapest and nicest coffee I've had in ages well done!!! we will certainly go back for another visit.

Thank you to the guy sitting just inside the pub watching the match today. As someone who is adjusting to life having recently lost 70% of my sight, I can’t tell you how much just offering your arm and guiding me to where I needed was appreciated. That was an act of kindness I shall not forget. I should have bought you a beer.

Good landlady and staff good beer too

Very local pub. When I walked in for the first time as a visitor, half the people in the pub stopped and stared at me for a few seconds which was a bit weird. Welcoming people just a bit cliquey...

Took my family of five here on a mid Sunday afternoon and were warmly welcomed. We did not book, just turned up and had a lovely roast dinner. Even my grandchildren were happy and well catered for.

The Whistlestop is an atmospheric old fashioned boozer, but no worse for that. Always warm and friendly and the beer is good.

Needed somewhere to kill time for an hour after dark in Liss. Not so easy. Found this pub on Google and popped in. Slightly cramped, very blokey, lots of TV screens... Everyone seemed to stare as Alien Woman arrived. But the bar man was really pleasant, and made an excellent flat white at a bargain price. Free wifi, plenty of places to sit, and a very entertaining sound track... I had a very happy time and will be killing time there again regularly in future. Thank you!

I will say the full English breakfast was without a doubt the best I’ve ever eaten cooked to perfection 100% satisfied well worth a visit

Great local pub serving high quality beers, will often fill up on Friday and Saturday nights - due to its popularity. Good TV’s to watch sports on with a very social atmosphere throughout the day.

Great place to go for a drink, very helpful and friendly service. Can get a bit loud on Friday and Saturday nights, but it's a popular pub. At present, there is a great pizza van in the car park and you are free to order and then eat in the pub. It's great!

England beat Panama 6-1. The rest, as they say, is blurry.

Nice skittles alley, a bit cold though. They keep a good pint of beer. The buffet food they supplied was OK but it'd have been better if they'd have heated up the sausage rolls. Got a reasonable hot drink selection, not too expensive either.
