The Sun Inn in East Hampshire

We celebrated our parents' wedding anniversary here yesterday (Sunday) with the family. There were 15 of us and we all thought it was outstanding! We booked ahead and received excellent communication. The food couldn't have been better, with Sunday roasts and other choices too - all delicious. The owner and staff were lovely and really made it a special occasion for us. Thank you, we will look forward to coming again!

Just a wonderful place to be for a Sunday lunch - we were in the right hand side of the pub which was perfect. The choice of roasts was brilliant and you can have a duo or a trio as well as your favourite - our party had a mix of all the roasts and there was a great choice for kids too. Great beer and also a solid wine list.

A true olde world country pub that I and my husband love. We eat here quite regularly and often pop in for just a drink. We can’t fault it. Excellent food at reasonable prices, and friendly service. If you want to swap out any sides included in a main dish for an alternative, it’s never a problem. Always best to book in advance if you want to eat, as it can get very busy.

My favourite country pub experience in years. Bristling with country-ness!! Beams, lighting. Great pie and pint. Lovely staff. I didn't want to leave. Don't miss this one.

You couldn't do better for a superb and authentic English country pub. Exceptional atmosphere, friendly welcome, and beautifully-presented, delicious food. Well worth the short diversion off the beaten track.

What a gem! Beautiful country pub with one of the best Sunday Roast we have ever had. The dessert was also delicious. Lovely staff and warm cozy atmosphere.

Lovely country pub serving good ales and nice food but my 'special', smoked haddock truffle mac and cheese, was very small and had hardly any haddock and no trace of truffle. Also quite dear.

A lovely old pub in a lovely setting. The inside is cosy and warm. The food was delicioooous! The staff were friendly and inviting and I'm hoping to go again.

A step back in time. I believe this place was built in 1702. So much character to the place. The staff and the locals are all so friendly. The food is top quality. The choice of drinks are plentiful and service is quick and standards are high. It is about 10 minutes drive from the A31 and 15 minutes from the M3 at Basingstoke. Even King Charles visited this place in his prince years, so it’s a must visit pub. I really recommend visiting this place for either a drink or food and the Sunday roast is spectacular with great flavours. The chef has got good attention to detail. Lovely outside area and off the main road through and has a real country pub feel to the place. Will be going back for sure.

Lovely owners who provide a warm welcome to this classic British pub full of history and low beams. Food was good and service efficient even on a very busy Sunday. We arrived late having bad traffic problems but they held the table and didn’t rush us. Top marks!

We decided to have a meal here without booking and they didn't hesitate and found a spot for us. Always welcoming and smiley. Food was delicious. 5 star service

Just had the most excellent experinence at ths Sun Inn. Fabulous and friendly staff in the most lovely of environments. A warm fire and a good selection of ale. The food was perfect. Large portions and perfectly cooked. Just wonderful. Thank you.🙂

Popped in here after a bike ride for a bite to eat the burger was great and the service was good however when coming to pay they added an extra 10% service charge. I don’t mind paying but really think it should be down to the customer to decide not the venue

The most cosy old pub with a lot of character with very friendly staff all with smiles and happy to help. The food was absolutely amazing and very tasty and served hot - compliments to the chef. Nothing was a problem and will definitely go back and recommend to all. (Only if they go with me 😊) We had a table of 17 mixture of adults and children with mostly Sunday dinners and some burgers and not one bit was left. This is a little hidden Gem.

Nice cosy pub with log fires burning. Menu was limited however the food was excellent but a little on the expensive side.

So lovely, popped in for a drink on a Sunday walk, such a lovely atmosphere and staff, they offered to squeeze us in for lunch even though they were fully booked and we were so glad they did it was scrumptious!

Blimey! Google has just prompted me to update my review. Glad it has because looking at my previous I must have had a shocking visit. That long ago that I can't remember. Pub was busy with drinkers and diners, and the staff were very welcoming. Hope to visit again soon

Traditional pub (which I prefer). Old building with character. Just mind your head if you are 6ft or over.

We had a great time last night for a joint Birthday celebration. The staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. All of the food was excellent, we will definitely be coming here more often. Special thanks to the Hungarian lady and of course Martin Kemp.

Excellent old pub. Beautiful interior with lots of lovely traditional features. Great atmosphere! Staff were friendly and very efficient. It was very busy too! They had run out of a few things but it was late on a Sunday afternoon so not surprising, they offered a great alternative. Food was fantastic! The only slight negative was, there wasn’t much parking with it being so busy but they have two carparks and the road outside was quite quiet. We will definitely be going back! The best meal and experience we’ve had in a pub in years. Ticked all the boxes!

First visit today and it’s was fantastic! Great atmosphere, very friendly staff and good service. Food was excellent. They had run out of a few things but the pub was very busy and it was late on a Sunday afternoon so not surprising. The staff offered lovely alternatives instead and it was fantastic! Not been to a pub that has ticked all these boxes in years! We will definitely be returning! The only negative we could think of is there isn’t a lot of parking if it’s busy but it’s a fairly quiet road so it wasn’t a problem.

Great lunch on route to visit relatives in the area. Having read the reviews it was well worth the short diversion down narrow roads.

Lovely little pub with friendly staff and good food. They have outdoor seating both by the road and also a secret garden area to the right of the pub between some bushes, you can also see the gliders from lasham on a clear day.

Gorgeous spot - idyllic rural food with great food and great local drinks. Stopped here mid bike ride for some chips and cider. Everything perfect.

I have seen negative reviews from yeras past. That is not my experience at all. I have only dropped in for a drink or morning coffee afew times. The Sun Inn is one of the friendliest and cosiest pubs you could hope to find. There are open log fires with bags of history to the place. The staff are wonderful, with nothing too much trouble.

Not really a village pub but it is a pretty building. Food is usually poor, don't think it is made on the premises.

Great food, excellent ambience, nice people and superb beer and wine. What more could you want?! This is a really nice pub, ideal for stopping at after a hike around the countryside!

My 1st visit since December last year when the food was average but decided to give it another try as was now under new management. Same friendly helpful staff as last year. Had the beer battered cod and chips portions half the size as previously but similar price as last year. chips had been bought in frozen and not made on the premises "cod" was grey in colour, not white and flaky, probably not cod and possibly pre- frozen I will not be going back
