Service was excellent, the lady tonight (boxing day) was running around like a headless chicken serving both food and drinks by herself with a busy pub. 5 stars to the amazing Lady who superwomaned this pub tonight.... I'll give 1 star to the her employer, who clearly seeks profit over family/festive values

Every time we come to the Royal Anchor, staff are attentive, food is perfect for the price you pay. Karen in particular is great, she went above and beyond to make you feel welcome

"I would like to express my deep dissatisfaction with my visit to the Royal Anchor pub. There are no clear or visible signs indicating where to enter your car registration number, which resulted in a £100 fine, despite spending approximately £90 on a few beers. None of the staff were able to provide any assistance or information regarding this issue. The signage is poorly positioned and hard to spot, especially at night, making it almost impossible to notice. Moreover, the bathrooms were filthy, and the glasses used to serve the beer were extremely dirty, which negatively impacted the taste of the drinks. I strongly believe that the pub owner should cover the cost of this fine, as it stems from their inadequate signage. A thoroughly disappointing experience. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone."

My wife and I had a meal here about a week or so ago, meant to leave a review sooner than this 😅 It has recently changed hands and for the better, the food was on point and they catered well to my wife's intolerance to nuts. The service was great, kind and helpful staff and a lovely chat with the new owners mother which gave it a personal touch. 5/5 would definitely eat there again.

Great food, friendly staff and value

The service of Shona and Karen was superb. We were a large table so I understand a small delay in the food however it was quite a wait. The gentlemen who served us was quite rude and many of our table were disgruntled with the attitude he had. Overall the food was slow but the waitresses made up for the other poor areas.

Had a great steak mix it up was cooked perfect compliments to chef Kyle and trainee chef great service from Shona and Harry

It was edible but generic microwaved UPF. The service was good they were clearly trying their best. The screaming children at 1913 on a Sunday were annoying- perhaps a family area or ban kids after 6pm.

The waitress, that served me, her name is Moe, she was absolutely lovely, calm kind, and knew her job very well. I couldn’t fault it and it’s people like her that makes me come back to this pub again again..

Massive improvement at the Royal Anchor, stopped coming here a few months back as food was below standard for the hungry horses (I use all the Hungry horses) . New chef Jamie and Shona on the bar made today's very enjoyable experience . The once below parr food was today excellent such an improvement.

Shona who ran the bar and served and Jamie in the kitchen made our stop at the Royal Anchor very pleasurable. The pies were extremely good and the welcome warm. Thanks a lot.

Shona is a lovey waitress who is welcoming and very well spoken. It’s nice to visit the the local and be greeted by a lovely smile. The chef did a great job on my Korean burger , Ryan/jamie can’t remember his name, has done me a great service today. Tip top food kind sir, off to the marshes we shall go together in this cold wind, with warmth in my belly and bbq sauce on my palms. up from the ashes grow the roses of success! 5/5 or 10/10

Lovely place to eat for families, plenty of parking and secured, great customer service and the food was really really good and well priced with good sized portions. We would definitely return and thank you Katie, Karen, Janice and Martin for being so welcoming and hospitable.

A regular stop for us. Lovely staff, go food at a great price. The pub itself has such an interesting history.

It’s been a few months since our last visit because last time it was not a good visit, but it’s now under new management Bradley, who with his team Mo and Kyle have turned the place around, we were greeted by Mo as we came in with a friendly hello and a nice smile, then Bradley took our order, friendly and patient and made us feel our custom was valued, Kyle made an excellent job the cooking and the food was 100% better and good value for money. We will definitely be returning, thank you for the good service, it goes a long way.

Visit for lunch now n then, staff always friendly n helpful, and can't complain about the food! Quick service and decent food, can't go wrong!

Felicity provided amazing service, lovely pub, great atmosphere

Went for a lunch date, the atmosphere was great, quiet and very clean. The food was fantastic, had a steak ale pie, and a Korean bbq chicken burger. Definitely recommend it for a nice time out.

Amazing! Went out for the afternoon and found this wonderful pub. Karen served us with the most wonderful customer service. Nothing was too much trouble. She was brilliant with our children! Will definitely travel to this pub again! Really lovely service!

My family and I have been coming to The Royal Anchor for many years and often bring along visiting friends and family. We generally have good meals and friendly service here. Occasionally the availability of dishes can be hit and miss. We ask what’s not available when we come, although sometimes we find out something is unavailable after placing the order. Staff do try to help find a suitable alternative and are very apologetic when this is a case. Overall the food is worth the visit. Portions are quite decent.

Very good service. Very good price. Only down side was that the pie and mash. It only had approx 2 table spoons of mash and the pies meat wasn't soft it was chewy. The best value for money was the Ultimate big combo, this was a massive winner.

Very nice stop for lunch. We had our 2 dogs who were allowed in and made a fuss of. The food was good and great price with the Saturday offer. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. Great advert for Hungry Horse

Visited on the 12/10 for a family meal to celebrate a birthday, we had pre-booked the table and received received an email confirmation of our booking. We were seated and then got moved as they had got us mixed up with another party even though we had repeatedly told them that was not us. We were moved to a table that did not sit all of us and that blocked a fire exit (health and safety issue!), despite the rest of the restaurant area being completely empty. We were told we had to order by half 5 at 20 past 5 when two members of our party had not arrived yet and we were a group of 12 which included two kids. We were told we had to order by this time due to the another large booking they had and only having one chef working who wasn't even a chef but the temporary manager apparently, In the end we had to leave as we were being rushed, we were sat blocking a fire exit and overall we felt like a burden. We then had to find somewhere else to have dinner which was not easy as a party our size needs booking in advance. Worst service ever. EDITED: Emailed manager as requested on the 21/10. Still no response.

Visited The Royal Anchor a few weeks back one Sunday evening for a quick dinner. Turkey roast dinner was very poor and gravy was inedible, Roast dinner arrived with turkey slice rather than roast turkey. The staff did replace the food with something different free of charge and after complaining via email to the manager we were fully refunded for the whole meal. Won’t be visiting this pub again but do appreciate the refund.

New to the Liphook area & parked in the Royal Anchor car park for 42 mins, not realising it was chargeable. Have now received a £100 fine! Disgraceful. Great first impression Royal Anchor. Will avoid now & advise others to as well. If parking revenue is so important to your pub/hotel, just set up a parking machine for payment or set up a code entry system, not a camera that spies on everybody.

Coffee machine broken again!!!!, dirty cutlery again!!! Going downhill!

We went for a late birthday meal for my sister and my niece ended up with food poisoning was ill all night don't recommend eating here gone down hill big time . Pls save self from getting food poisoning too x

Under staffed, broken glass washer to name s few things. Staff are friendly but they were run off their feet trying to serve people on a Sunday. It needs refurbishing, there’s a general out of date unclean feel to it. We ate there and the burger was cheap but the rest was ok. I wouldn’t rush back.

Staff are friendly and hardworking (Shona and her mom in particular). We are Wednesday night local regulars and only issue is how regularly items are "off". Be prepared to make a second choice. Good prices and er are up for curry Wednesday and wine Wednesday.

3 of us visited here , for Sunday lunch today , Was not impress , service was very poor , dinner was cold took a while before gravy arrived , which turned out to be extremely salty that we could not eat our roast , very disappointed , we did complain n was given free dessert , Such a shame was so looking forward to roast ,
