Had a meal there recently with my family. The food was not at it's usual good standard. Added to this, was the fact that I then received a £100 parking fine for using their car park and not registering my car in the pub. I was totally unaware of this procedure . ROYAL ANCHOR, Please can you make clearer notices about this rip-off money making scheme to your customers. This could perhaps explain why the pub was practically empty on a Saturday lunchtime.

Prob the worse food I have ever eaten, shocking staff very rude. 2 roast beef dinners, well I must say. Would t feed it to the fixes, 4 tiny potatoes 2 small pieces of beef, hard mash potato, dry veg. Says it all really Used to be such a nice friendly pub with great food, never even again will we visit Used to always be packed and now hardly anyone in here should of given me a clue to be honest Staff hygiene, young girl on waiter service could do with a good wash.

Sunday was the worst experience I’ve had with a sorry excuse for a turkey roast dinner two thin slices of sandwich turkey and I think they were supposed to be cremated soggy roasted potatoes never again will I eat there

We ate here as a family of 6 it was really good, food was amazing. I loved my bacon burger and one of us had a steak medium done and that was awesome too! Kids desserts were free with their food too, really pleased overall will definitely come back!

Waited a long time for the worst food I've ever seen come out of a supposedly professional kitchen. We returned the food untouched and had to wait 15 minutes for the manager to "finish a phone call" and come and authorise the refund. I don't know if the chef was off and they had someone else covering the kitchen as I truly doubt a chef would have sent out the plates we received, If that is the work of their chef then they obviously don't know how to cook and haven't been trained and I'd avoid at all cost.

We used to take our grandaughters for lunch or dinner here about 15/16yrs ago.Delicious meals,pleasent decor,staff couldn`t do enough to ensure it was a great experience.Today(august 25th) we took our eldest son for sunday lunch.Boy what a change!!! Told 40 mins wait,ok we thought it would be worth it,how wrong we were.1&1/2hrs later the meals arrived and what a disappointment.Son`s and my beef could have soled shoes and 1 slice only,hubby`s turkey was turkey roll warmed up roast potatoes must have been cooked in the morning,veg was either cold or raw.Decor tired and scruffy,service soso.Before leaving my husband told the under manager how we felt about the meal,he didn`t want to know just gave a mental shrug.Needless to say we shan`t be returning.

Multiple issues with the food with things missing. No coleslaw no kofta no onion rings etc. When it turned up it was hot and well cooked but disappointed no jalapeños or spicy fries!! Shona was on her own behind the bar much of the time stretched to capacity but managed polite, hospitable and professional. If I had a vacancy I would employ her tomorrow.

Been here many times , sadly this time was awful. So much that was on the menu was not available because someone was on holiday. We had starters plates were not cleared before they brought the mains out , one starter was a sharing patter and there was not a lot for £10 half a garlic bread slice and 5 hollumi sticks , maybe it was because they did not have enough food to go around because a person was on holiday, they did not even have any bread to make a chicken sandwich come on guys really Sainsbury's is just up the road. Mixed grill they had no sausages and all looked lost on the plate . The chips that came out was fries not chips !! , had a pie which looked nice but pastry was rock hard with mash the mash looked awful and very dry so had to ask for gravey which you would have thought would have come with the meal , but the be fair the server did get some once being told we might not have any !! Pudding was a sorry state the brownie looked no bigger than a Cadbury chocolate finger !! I had the candy mania and shared it , I was bigging it up to be let down with not much candy and no cream . Sorry to be writing this but has a local person we won't be coming back until they have sorted staff out there . While waiting to pay we felt we was over looked and waited for ages while staff ate and had conversation with people at the bar .

Was told Mash potato only served Sundays even though it was listed as a choice on the kids menu ! Eventually given some but it looked like something you’d use to paste wallpaper with - thick and gloopy. She also tried to charge us an extra 99p for it !!! Was told No sausages available even though they are on the kids/adults menu ! Asked for rice with kids meal as it was on the kids menu . It was listed as sunshine rice so expected yellow rice which he would have eaten . However what appeared was yellow rice with cubes of carrot plus sweetcorn - neither of which he likes so he left it and had 4. Chicken nuggets only!!

We pre-booked a table for 8 to celebrate a birthday. Once there we ordered a round of drinks and set up a tab. We were told they didn't have any garlic bread or cauliflower cheese. We decided to order 1 burger, 2 steaks and five mixed grills, to be told they didn't have any steak. I asked to settle the bill and was told the burger was sent through to the kitchen and we could have it to take away. I asked why only one meal was sent through bearing in mind we were still discussing what to have instead of the chosen meals. She said she would take it off the bill and would tell the kitchen not to cook it. The staff were lovely, but looked and acted harassed although the restaurant/pub wasn't busy. I did have a concern over safety. A member of staff dropped a sauce which went all over the floor by the bar. I suggested she cleaned it up before serving me and I'd wait. She said she would do it later. I offered to clean the floor but she argued with me and said no. In the end after numerous times of offering she got some blue paper towel and cleaned it up. It wasn't the thought of the cleanliness, it was an accident waiting to happen with the sauce a slip hazzard as it was by the back entrance and along the bar.

Have been going here for years, always treated it as "you get what you pay for" and always been very pleased. This, however, was the third time in a row that I've visited and had the following problems: -Multiple menu items unavailable without a prior heads up -Tables not being cleared, dirty plates, cutlery and glasses littered the venue. Also tables that were clear of plates and glasses, weren't cleaned afterwards, many were covered in crumbs and liquids etc -Food not really up to standard (cremated burger bun, items inside the burger were different to what's on the menu and a portion of chips having mysterious burnt chunks in that weren't chips) The staff were all lovely as always, so would like to commend them on that, but they weren't really very attentive. For instance, none of the staff are bothered by clearing tables when you've finished eating and obviously nobody checked over our meals before bringing them out. We would have mentioned the food issues at the time, but didn't want to have to wait for replacements when we had already been waiting quite a while, and everyone else in our group was already eating.

The staff here can't do enough to be helpful. This incredibly historic place (Queen Victoria regularly stayed when en route London to Isle of Wight), is now bizarrely a budget Hungry horse pub from Greene King.

Martin & Brad were extremely welcoming service great food excellent really recommend the place.

Its a shame im having to leave this as i have had good experiences at the anchor before (not recently though im sad to say). Went in for some drinks this evening after a gym session and as i was putting my car reg in, and man working the floor cake up to me and my friend and said ‘youre not having food are you gents’ to which i replied ‘i may have a snack’ to which your staff members response was ‘not at this tike of night you wont be’. Apologies if ive got this wrong, but isnt your kitchen open until 9? I had 5 or 6 minutes. I work in hospitality for a very big company and i know it can be annoying to have food ordered as the kitchen is closing, and i wouldnt be ordering anything big, i know how demoralising that can be, but how can you advertise to be serving food until 9 if the FOH staff are refusing you

Fine family pub, just had a couple of pints but looked busy and all well.

1st and last visit. Shabby, sticky, dirty, soup spoon for dessert, no onion rings, ladies toilet - 1 no lock on the door, 2 no toilet seat, 3 no toilet paper all in need of decorating. Bar manager spoke to her staff in a loud aggressive voice. The staff are not trained in customer service neither are the management. We will not be returning.

I live in Wiltshire and drove an hour and a half for a meal with family for my mums birthday. When I got there, they had told us there was no onion rings, peas or garlic bread. When there wasn’t another side we wanted to swap them for, we simply asked if they could discount some of the price from the meal as onion rings and peas are a side dish with the meal on almost every one. Their answer was no because they can’t change it on the system. They were expecting us to pay full price when things were missing. The manager was no where to be present, nobody seemed apologetic about the situation and given it was a Saturday night everywhere else was fully booked. Had I of lived locally it may not have been the end of the world, but with a 3 hour round trip and our mums birthday meal, the service and refusal to discount the price slightly was awful. The only thing we could really have from the entire menu, was burgers which we didn’t want. Definitely will not waste my time in coming back.

I will share my thoughts tomorrow when I'm less angry about tonights experience and i can communicate it in a calmer manner , certainly won't go back ever, didn't even get to eat having booked, furious

Food quality improved since last visit, although some menu options not available such as SteaK, Chicken wings, and even no sour cream for the Fajita's, so on a Saturday night, not so good. Also, very quiet for a Saturday night, and ladies toilet requires imediate attention as no lock on one door, & no toilet seat on another, so definitely needs sorting out ASAP!

I went to the royal anchor in liphook and it was a great experience for the family me and my children had 3 burgers and they was amazing cooked to perfection when i went to the bar i ordered a beer and it only took 30 seconds i can only give 5 stars if i could give 10 i would

Had fantastic service from Lauren this evening, it was obviously very busy but she took the time to talk us through the menu, much appreciated given my mother is half blind and now almost fully deaf, will definitely be coming back as long as Lauren is working

Food was good despite a bit of a wait, Lauren was great at communicating and making sure we were satisfied with our order. Hope to be back soon.

Cutlery was filthy, tables sticky and dirty, food was terrible. Staff unhelpful and didn't care or seem interested in helping. Will not be revisiting and wouldn't even rate it a 1 star!

Very Friendly and attentive service. Staff very accommodating to our changes on the meals and checked back that all was okay. Food lovely, great portion sizes and very good price. Great little Fathers Day trip out. Winner winner! We’ll definitely come back again soon. Only downfall… I was too stuffed for dessert..I’ll remember that next time!! X

Offer of a free drink for dads on Father’s Day was declined as there wasn’t a button on the till for it or that was the excuse that was given. (Very poor management if that was the case as this should have been done in advance). Also the manager was heard quite vocally saying I’ll be in there in 20 minutes and if it’s not done you’ll know about it!! (Talking about the kitchen). Very unprofessional and terrible atmosphere. Definitely will not be going back!!

Burned food, food crushed into carpets, not being told about food items that aren't available until food was delivered to the table and member of staff ranting about how many hours he had worked. Not a great experience by any means

I went out for my boyfriend for his birthday, and we have to say the atmosphere and service has massively improved. Good job to Lauren and Jess on the bar and Lewis in the kitchen. We ordered via the app to our table and the drinks came quickly. When our food arrived the steak was cooked perfectly (medium rare) and the Salmon salad was one of the best I’ve ever had. We will definitely be coming back!

I came here for a nice evening drink and a meal and I was not disappointed in the slightest, I was served a cold beer by Lauren at the bar who served me with a warm smile. Sat down and ordered myself the 12oz steak with chips and onion rings, I asked the chef Lewis for it to be medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. I can not fault a single part of my expieriene here. I walked out with a buzz and a full belly. Well done to all the staff

Just had an amazing meal, wasn't expecting it to be that good. From moment we walked in we had good service, from having the table cleaned for us without asking as we sat down, to good service before,during and after food, even going that extra mile adapting what we ordered to suit our needs, and kerry our server asking us if we want extra kutsu sauce half way through eating our meal as she could see we had eaten it all, without us even asking. Most definitely will be soon 🙂

Enjoyed a lovely drink and a quick bite to eat this afternoon. Lovely garden space. The only down fall on this visit, whilst enjoying our meal all we heard is the kitchen staff singing very loudly and was a little off putting when we were trying to have a conversation.

Really enjoyed my visit tonight, great food and the staff couldn’t do enough for me, especially bringing my drink to my table when they needed to change the barrel. My chicken skews were cooked to perfection, so succulent and juice, best I’ve had in ages!

Not bad for a pub chain could do with a little revamp.Speakers was fuzzing light bulbs out And the decorating could do with a lick of paint

Visited today as a party of two for dinner. The pub itself was scruffy with lots of litter and a broken bench outside, a missing toilet door lock and broken toilet roll and soap dispensers. The food was abysmal and took an hour to come out (we were told 40 mins). We ordered the fish & chips which was the worst I've ever had - greasy/wet fish with barely any batter and cold floury chips. The steak & ale pie came out with no gravy and rock hard pastry and the gravy (which came out gloopy, salty and uncooked) then took until the end of the meal to come out. The staff could not have cared less and didn't seem to want to face us as they took 20 mins to clear our table, despite being seen standing around on phones and chatting. No apologies for cold chips and we heard at least 3 other tables complain during our "meal".

Absolutely amazing!! Will be back again.

went to the pub for a family meal and we had such a good experince. Brad , Bex and Lauren were so helpful and the food was great , cooked by Lewis. Would highly recommend.

Came for a small meal on Monday 13th May, the staff (Brad and Martin) were very helpful and provided good quick service and showed us to a nice-sized table that was accomodating to the electric wheelchair one of our party was in. The staff were very accomodating to myself and my mothers dietry requests (we're both coealiacs and my mother is also a vegetarian to boot) and were able to adjust meals we ordered to be gluten-free. Overall a solid experience for a Monday afternoon.

Came here recently with my dog and it was dog friendly and staff were very attentive and the food was fantastic they quickly got my dog a bowl of water and gave her a fuss we will definitely be returning was such a lovely atmosphere great pub can't wait to return

Went here last Monday with my grandmother, grandfather and partner, and the food was delicious. The staff were friendly and polite, and Jess who cooked our food did a great job. The pub had been going down a little over the years, but the team now could bring the pub back to life and I am really hopeful for them. I will be coming back next time I come to visit my family.

I started working in the area a couple of months ago, and this is the local for me. Lovely pub, local, decent prices and great staff. Special mention to Bren the Manager who is always welcoming and always has a good conversation to greet with. Also Brad, Tim, and the beautiful ladies,Bex and Kerry who always greet me with a smile and excellent service. Don't miss out, definitely worth a visit for a pint which may turn into 5 and a meal :)

Worst experience we have had in years. Staff wasn't helpful. Wasn't friendly. Eating are starter, main meal comes out halfway through are starter. We tell them that we're still eating. Not interested. Still put the plates on the table. Couldn't finish our food.we have been coming here for many years We've had a few occasions with family and friends not anymore.

Absolutely apauling my daughter who is celiac has just had a meal there and returned home violently ill after what she believes was caused by a bread roll that she was told was gluten free very poor education of staff this can be life threatening for the likes of my daughter you will be hearing from us when you are open again we are now waring to see if she needs to go to hospital. Needless to say we won't be eating at your restraint again nor recommending it to anyone.

This was our first visit here, a treat for after a lovely morning out during half term. I came in with two children, myself and daughter ordered a full English and my son ordered a child’s meal. The full English breakfast’s arrived what only I can say was a plate full of beans, the sausages were rubber texture and we found a pea under our hashbrown. There was also a thin white plastic line of something in the beans. They had no still water so I had a tea in a stained mug, no corn on the cobs for children’s meal either. We did order desserts child’s brownie, adult brownie both came out on dirty bowls and was slammed on the table and a adult candy mania to share, they had no whipped cream so added more chocolate bits on. Sadly we will not be returning or recommending this place.

No fish and chip what a let I never gone with fish and chips on a good Friday a total let down

Just came down from Wales to visit friends and family and grab a quick bite. Service was fantastic and the food was delicious despite a short wait which we were advised. Bex is a credit to your team.

Astonished, simply had a cup of tea...felt like I'd finished before I started, the mug was totally filthy, obviously rinsed but not washed for what must have been days or weeks....an actual layer of grime...the photos are of an empty cup as I poured the contents into a slightly cleaner one...disgusting..how unclean was that...avoid this place...its grim

unfortunately the pub had run out of many essential items, but our server Kerry was absolutely amazing, helpful and efficient

Visited recently. Despite only having 1 chef working at the time the food was delivered quickly and was very good. I was served by Martin who was extremely polite and helpful.

Husband used to come here all the time as a child. Our first visit as a family, the service has been great! And the food hasn’t disappointed at all! So much for your money and decent quality. All plates cleared (which when you have a picky toddler is a massive accomplishment!) thank you! We will definitely be back!

Had Sunday roast here today, thought 15.99 for two dishes? But it was very good. Would definitely come back and eat here again.

Lauren, our server, did a really good job dealing with our food issues. We had an undercooked Mac n Cheese, incorrect burger (came out as beef burger when was meant to be chicken) missing multiple things off our meals. Meat was undercooked however again, our server Lauren, did a fantastic job dealing with the our issue and was incredibly professional. Pints were decent but even then, you can tell that the lines haven’t been cleaned recently (I also work in the hospitality industry). All round experience, not great. Very disappointed…

Our food was not great, had a burger come out raw on the inside and then realised it was the wrong burger altogether! Sent it back and still was the same. Lauren our waitress was amazing, should be getting paid more for what she deals with. She is amazing!

This was always a place to go for a cheap and cheerful dinner, nothing special just reasonable food at a cheap price, but the quality and service have dropped and now it’s just not worth the price, even though it’s still cheap, I suppose with rising prices somethings got to give, and they have chosen to drop the quality
