Arrived around 12.30 on a Friday for lunch with my daughter and two grandsons. We were given the breakfast menu and the children’s menu. We selected meals for the children but asked for a lunch menu for ourselves to be told that lunch wouldn’t start until 1.20 pm and so had to order breakfast. After waiting a short while our server came back to tell us that the children’s menu also wasn’t available until the later tome too. If the children hadn’t have been so hungry we would have gone elsewhere. The food was nice enough and the servers were friendly but I would think twice next time before planning a lunch out there again.

We've walked past here many times so thought we would try it out after reading some good reviews. The first thing you see when you get in the place is the great selection of cakes spread across the bar. We had a beer and I ordered the Ploughman's lunch and it was an excellent choice. They had a good combination of ham and cheese and pickles with a beautiful sausage roll. There was so much I couldn't eat it all. They did a nice pint of IPA ale to go along with the meal. It has a nice atmosphere and staff. Well worth a visit.

The large garden hedges are plastic - totally unjustifiable. I was asked to pay extra if I wanted any bread for my hummus bowl so I wondered if anyone there has ever eaten hummus. You can't just have spoonfuls of the stuff. That's just weird! Tea was lovely though.

My daughter and I enjoyed a great lunch at this lovely place today. We called in without booking, and it was very busy. A very friendly young man offered us a table outside and even though it was quite cool we said yes. But soon after we sat down he came to tell us that a table had become available inside, so that was great. We enjoyed our lunch very much. But the main thing for us today, was the friendliness and attention from all the staff, they are a credit to the company!

Service is very slow and quite formal. Sometimes there is a rope you have to stand behind before getting seated which sort of sums up the place. I would expect a cafe based in a sports centre to be interested in attracting sports centre users, but the Wheelbarrow actively discourages sports centre users. At a sport event, my 11 year old daughter tried to buy a drink and was ignored. I waited 45 minutes once for a beer. Recently, they seem unwilling to let any sports centre users park in the sports centre car park. I understand they want spaces for customers, but more sports centre users would also be customers if they were a bit more welcoming. It's a shame.

Lovely place for relaxed lunch. Enjoyed the falafal salad which was very tasty, fresh but would have preferred the option of real feta in place of vegan feta. Sister had hummus which was delicious but I was surprised it didn't come with anything eg pitta to dip in, not strange to eat hummus by itself? Sides of chunky chips and halloumi were delicious! We came for breakfast,4 adults 1 toddler, thought £7 for a bacon & egg on a bun was expensive, we had 2 of those, shakshuka £10, not much in this 2 eggs and a lot of sauce with peppers and tomatoes served with a piece of toast ( already buttered) and a fruit salad, which I thought was decent, but also expensive for £7.50 for the amount served. 3 teas, 2 coffees ( not the best coffee, weak and not much flavour). Overall the outside area was really nice, inside is great. But, £47 Mmmm I couldn't see it.

This is a nice little place but the food is very hit and miss. Cakes and coffee are great but anything else is risky. The fish finger butty and halloumi humous dishes were delicious. The falafel wrap was dry and the Caesar salad was basic. The kids menu is limited and also basic. I’ve had both dry sandwiches and burnt toast served to my kids. The staff are welcoming but don’t check up after serving. Overall verdict is for the price you pay, it’s not worth the risk of a bad meal. Won’t be back for a while.

Booked at 1:30 for a table of seven and were contacted the night before to be told that it would need to be moved to 1:45. Arrived and the place was absolutely dead. We were told we had to wait for the people on the one table which seated more than two to finish before we could sit down. How it was impossible to put two or three smaller tables together I don't know. Service was slow despite being empty, took about half an hour between receiving the bill and actually being able to pay. Food was a mixed bag. The kids' sausage and chips and fish goujons were pretty good, the prawn pasta and Caesar salad looked nice and the halloumi fries looked great. The ham and eggs though? Absolute joke. Half a packet of cold ham and some eggs, frozen peas and some admittedly nice chips were ok, but for fourteen quid that's a joke. I hate to leave negative reviews but compared to the exceptional experience we had at the watering can this is absolutely woeful. Hopefully they can turn it round.

Lunch with my mum and daughter yesterday. Asked on entering if my mum who is late 70s with dementia, and very fussy with food, only eating limited things and small amounts if she could have the children's menu. The nice guy said of course gave us a menu for her and sat us down at a table. Girl came to take our order, when i was ordering for mum the girl said no to child's meal as mum was over 10 the chef doesn't allow it., she even checked he said no but can have a Childs ham sandwich what difference does this make, so he could make exception for sandwich but not for fish and chips? Explained that she wont eat certain foods and only small amounts. I take mum out every week for a hot lunch, normally fish and chips, never have i had this before any where we have been. Normally they are happy for her to have to children's menu, but given i was ordering for her due to dementia i was furious. I did order her a fish finger roll and a side of chips which had to be taken apart. To be honest, if my daughter had not of been with us who was hungry we would of walked out. Food was nice enough, although this experience has put me off.

The blond woman has a bad attitude and unwelcoming communication. Told me I was standing in the wrong place to wait for my food- very standoffish when I asked where I should go. Ordered a sandwich for take away here, waited 20 mins. In itself not an issue, but when I asked one of the (lovely) younger serving staff if I could cancel my order as I needed to go, the older blond woman told the staff (not me) ‘there is only one chef on’. If this is being used as a reason for a wait, it should be said when ordering. I actually asked politely to cancel, not how long the food would be. Listening is important. Bad vibes from her and I felt like a burden, not a customer. Won’t be going back sadly. Wrap was super soggy when received.

Well I must say am a bit shocked at this place .Its a cafe / restaurant sort of place .A tad miss match but clean and tidy .Its inside greenbank sports centre in a very nice location not far from a big park .This sport centre came about with disability very much in mind . I knew that chap that put a lot of effort in to getting the funding for greenbnk sports centre and his vission was for a modern sports facility that all people with a disabilities would be able to access all areas of this place easly. This sports centre is popular in merseyside with disabled groups and clubs . My son and his disability and has been doing the 5 a side there for years . All his group bye things in wheelbarrow week in week out but last week when they where there the was a privet do on in the wheelbarrow and where refused entry even though they use the place place week in week out . Today I popped with my son and wife as there was a health thing on in the main hall with different people on each table giving advice .Besides getting advice it was a plesent surprise to be given a ticket for a free coffee on the way out .We where told just go in the wheelbarrow and hand your ticket in . We did this and got are tea and coffee and sat down only for the manager to come over and say you have to take your coffee out side ,you can not drink it in here although they had give us it . Normaly I would have said somthing but due to there now being with a few of my sons friend that had a disability I left along with them . I feel it's a very bad attitude and it seem the manager has some sort of dislike for people with a disability and little or no understanding . All this bad attitude inside what is without question the most disabitly focused sports centre in merseyside . 2 time in 2 weeks I have witnessed this .It can only make you think there like this all the time with a chip on there shoulder regards disabilities I have in the pasted booked this place for my sons 18th and 21 party but I will in future not step foot in the place from now on .

This was my first time going here and it was for a work Christmas meal. I will not be returning. The food was really salty and wasn't what I felt would be classed as a Christmas dinner. The turkey was breaded on a few salty chips with small balls of stuffing and coleslaw. It also felt like they hadn't planned for that many people as a few of my colleagues had to wait a while for their meals. The staff were really nice but when paying by card would push buttons on the machine to bypass the tip menu. The one time at the bar I was shown the tip menu I pressed the other option and it said machine error. The server took the machine and when the server gave me the machine again it was already on the payment screen. I only realised I'd paid an 18% tip when I read the receipt. It really felt like tipping was not optional and the staff were adding whatever tip they felt like to each order. The atmosphere wasn't that good either. The music was so loud you could barely speak to each other and I felt I had to shout all night and it was also a lot of house/dance music and not Christmasy or something you could sing along with. In my honest opinion I would not recommend going here for a Christmas meal.

The server gave me a latte and I said ‘oh sorry I asked for a cappuccino’ so he said ‘ok’ and dumped chocolate powder on top (I can’t have chocolate powder) and he went on to try to convince me a cappuccino is just a latte with chocolate on top. I explained that I didn’t want that much milk hence asking for cappuccino and he said ‘well that’s how we make them here’ and sent me on my way. 🤦🏼♂️
