I'm a modern wedding photographer who loves a good relaxed city wedding, so I was incredibly excited to shoot a wedding at Frederiks. Hope Street is such an iconic road in Liverpool. Frederiks is situated between 2 massive cathedrals and 2 brilliant theatres, and right next to the historic Georgian Quarter. The events room at the back of the venue was where the wedding reception took place, called the Pillbox. It felt so chic yet so laid back, everyone drinking cocktails illuminated mostly by candles and fairylights. I took the couple out for evening portraits around Hope Street, which gave their portraits a modern and spontaneous feel. I can't wait to shoot another wedding there one day.

From the minute we walked in, the staff were attentive, welcoming and accommodating. A table was found for us even though we hadn’t booked on a busy Saturday night! Goats cheese pizza and buttermilk chicken were delicious and we didn’t wait long. Bar service equally quick. Definitely recommend Frederiks - we will return for the jazz night too!

I got in touch with Amy back in November over a phone call and planned the entire event via phone and email and didn't actually meet Amy till the night of the event! She was super helpful and got back to me with everything very quickly and helped us navigate planning our Ball with the university Guild of Students and made the entire planning process as stress free and easy as possible! All of the information given was clear and straight forward which meant that there was never any confusion and any questions I had were answered thoroughly each time. Amy also reached out to me at regular intervals just to check in with planning and making sure that I had all the help that I needed. She also recommended other suppliers too, who were fabulous and really added to the night to thank you! We really felt taken care of leading up to the event which made it a relatively stress free process! The Event - a University Society Ball The service was fabulous! I apologise, I cannot remember the names of everyone working on the night but, Amy was great - she came in and greeted us, explained the room set up and the night and introduced me to the manager, John. John was great, he was in and out of the event, checking in periodically to make sure everything was going well and if we needed anything and helped to coordinate the night. The two bartenders (I'm so sorry, I can't remember your names but it was a lovely guy and girl who we gave brownies to because they were that lovely) they were wonderful, they were so helpful, especially for those in our class who requested non- alcoholic drinks. They were super friendly and always on hand if we needed anything, too! The Pill Box was the perfect size for us, our small class of 60 people! The room is very vibey, appropriately lit and very aesthetic! The projector and microphone were great for us to present our awards and to play our own music through the system, too! Enough room for everyone to sit and to have our photobooth and candyfloss machine! It was clean, set up and ready to go! The food was delicious! We ordered off the buffet menu and the food came out super hot and everyone was able to enjoy their food and everyone was happy with drinks at the bar as well! Everything was great on the night and we all felt super well looked after! We would 100% recommend Frederiks Pill Box room to anyone that wants to throw a relatively small and private get together/ party! We had so much fun and Frederiks made the entire process stress free which was great! I will definitely be popping into Frederiks for drinks or for a meal more often, now! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and felt comfortable and welcome the entire time!

Could do with a nice dry cider on draft like Aspall, strongbow or Henry westerns not sickly sweet cider

Lovely bar and the staff are great. They don't offer a huge variety of cocktail options, but the margarita is good. The food is alright, but it's well priced, and they do small plates, so it's a good option if you don't want to spend a huge amount

Excellent Sunday lunch, great portion sizes, everything cooked well, including our vegetarian guest. Superb service , not fussy but friendly and efficient.

This is a great spot with a nice vibe and funky '70s and '80s disco. Great for a late drink and some small plates, or for the Sunday roast which is one of the best in Liverpool. The wines are all excellent and the place generally feels classy but relaxed. Service is always super friendly as well as efficient and considerate. Highly recommended.

Let's put it this way, this greasy spoon advertised a full menu of the like of lamb, chicken and steak, when we got there it was only pizza on offer. As far as I'm concerned it was false representation of what was exactly on offer Very overpriced on the drinks, on fact the whole experience was and is a total rip of to all clientele Avoid the place at all costs, it's beyond a joke

I booked this last minute for my daughter’s 21 for drinks. We originally wanted the back room but finally when we went to book it the back room was no longer available. Amy was so good to us & offered us space in the main bar. We were a bit apprehensive on how this would work but when we arrived on the night it was perfect. The room layout was perfect, with a sectioned reserved area. The bar staff worked really hard on the night & the resident DJ made it a great night. The food was amazing & loads of it! I don’t know how the kitchen managed it especially because they had another party in the back room and the food service was so close together! A big thank you to all the staff for helping us sort everything out in such a short time frame. Would highly recommend it!

Got served a vegetarian pizza but I'm vegan. Already eaten some when they corrected it. They didn't seemed arsed.

We booked the Pillbox private hire for our engagement party and had a 10/10 experience from booking onwards. We had a tour of the venue first, easy booking and constant communication in the build up whenever we had questions. The night itself was faultless. From the room, to the staff, to the food, everything was absolutely amazing. Couldn’t recommend it enough if you’re looking for a party venue.

Was empty at the time due to glorious sunshine outside so atmosphere was lacking. But this is a great place with some very nice small plates.

Absolutely fabulous sunday roast! Everything was so tasty - the cauliflower cheese, yorkshire pudding and stuffing balls were amazing! Would 100% recommend! The staff were friendly the atmosphere was great and the food superb!

We called in on Tuesday evening to try their new summer menu and we loved every dish. We tried the goats cheese and nduja pizza, the ribs, the garlic prawns and buttermilk chicken with a bacon jam. Highly recommend all of these small plates and we will be back to try the rest! Great service from Lauren and Jayne too.

great place but the music was boring

The wait on service was impeccable from start to finish. Too be honest I didn't find the food any more tastier than I would of elsewhere. In fact the 2 slices of cold Lamb on a bed of just warm veg wasn't what I was expecting after all the hyped up, mouthwatering comments I read. Most disappointed, it wasn't busy at the time we ate, so I can't blame it on that. Not saying it wasn't busy before we entered or after we left but a lot of empty seats whilst we were there. The food was plentiful on the plate, no fault there just a pity it didn't live up to its hype. Personally, it won't be my go to place in a hurry.

We had a lovely time at Frederiks - easy to book, great friendly service, and our roasts were delicious (one chicken, three veggie, one vegan) as was the aubergine pizza. We enjoyed the wine too. This was perfect for us as an early pre-show meal, and very convenient for the theatre (the wonderful Tung Auditorium.) Thank you - we will definitely recommend and hope to return before too long.

Umm... underwhelmed, to be honest. Waited 35 minutes for what I would call a below-average Sunday roast. Small portions, overdone Yorkshire pudding, Aunt Bessie-style roast potatoes. The roast veg was, to be fair, quite enjoyable, but everything else was below par. I would genuinely rather stay at home and cook a roast than repeat my experience today. I wasn't convinced that I was dining on slow-roasted lamb, either, if I'm being truthful. My wife, who accompanied me, was similarly disappointed. Atmosphere and service were ok. Hate leaving reviews like this, but I really wasn't impressed. Sorry guys.

booked to come here new years eve for 2 people from 7oclock till 9oclock got there at 7.20 as traffic was terrible when we got there we were told that a party had been booked and we could only stay till 8.00 so what was the point of staying for half an hour the greeting staff were very rude and no apologies absolute disgrace after we had booked and there was no notification to say you can only stay for an hour would not go here for anything as a booked slot means NOTHING

Don't order a lime and soda 3 for £6.90. The roast chicken was dry wasn't impressed with it. Service was good but heard the roast were good.

Have always enjoyed food and drinks at Frederik's, it's where we go if we want to chill or just fancy a cheeky cocktail or two, but this time we hired their Pillbox for a birthday party. All of our 70 guests, from age 18 to 70+, had a great time, and many of them have commented that they thought the food was fabulous. We could not fault anything from the food, the service, the atmosphere, to helpful friendly staff there for us at every step of the way. Adam, Jayne and John - thank you. Definitely recommend.

Nice bar. False advertising on menu. 2 for 12 cocktails is only on the same drink which isn’t stated at all on their 2 for 12 cocktail menu. Only mentioned upon payment and Charged full price which is disappointing.

We held our wedding party at Frederiks and I can’t thank them enough for how amazing it was. Initially Jayne was dealing with us in the early stages of planning then Adam took over and we liased with him. Both unbelievable at their jobs and both on duty the night of our wedding ensuring everything ran smoothly.- which it did. Adam was so attentive and helpful in the lead up to the wedding offering suggestions and answering my 1000000 questions and queries- he truly was an angel in disguise and an asset to Frederiks. He went that extra mile for us and his attention to detail in making sure our day was perfect was outstanding and I can’t thank him enough. The food we had was amazing, the drinks selection was fantastic and the room is a great space. All the staff are super friendly and efficient and have great customer service. All our guests commented on how great the venue and staff were. We regularly go to Frederiks which is why we decided to hold our wedding there and I would do it again 10 times over. We even went back the next day to collect the final items and the girl on duty was helping us pack it all away which we really appreciated! We decided to stay for some food and all of that was so delicious too! No matter what the occasion- casual food or drinks/ dinner date or party I would 100% recommend Frederiks! Really enjoyed having a couple of cocktails here on Saturday night! The actual venue is lovely and has plenty of different seating. Lots of different and interesting cocktails along with your classics. The staff were friendly and even made me a cocktail off menu which was a lovely touch! Id say the only thing that let it down was a little bit too much ice in the drinks.

We tried the ragu tagliatelle, prawns on sourdough, goat’s cheese and nduja sausage pizza and the fried chicken; couldn’t recommend these dishes enough. The cocktails were perfect, I recommend the clear colada. We went on a Tuesday when their jazz band plays and they were so so good! We had amazing service from Adam and Jayne, very welcoming and helpful staff.

Had my 30th Birthday party here in the Pillbox and it was absolutely amazing. Staff were super attentive, service was brilliant, the room was beautiful. Everyone commented on the atmosphere and room being so beautiful

The food was excellent and service equally as good. Bit on the pricey side. 2 small pieces of breadcrumbed chicken (supposed to be chilli and honey, neither of which appeared on the dish), 2 small bowls of fries, 1 small garlic bread and 1 small pizza - £27. It was tasty however but don’t think we will rush back with those prices.

Brilliant dinner, had to make some last minute changes to the booking and they were unbelievably accommodating, would definitely recommend!!!

£6.20 for a pint of beer and £6.80 for a pint of cider??? We had to ask the staff if we were in Liverpool still! Even London doesn't charge that much. Place isn't anything special, and at these prices, we won't be going back, especially as there are plenty of other nice pubs and bars with far more choice and more reasonable prices on the same street.

We had Sunday roast and we were shocked by the small amount of food that came in. For a Sunday roast you would expect a decent amount of food, but we had to go to another place as we were still hungry. The roast was not too bad, although I would not order the ham one as it only came one piece of meat and it seemed that it was cooked ham from a cheap grocery. Disappointing experience. It was not a great start when the waiter brought one wrong drink but no big deal and corrected. However, we then waited an age for our meals. So much so that someone else who came in after us was tucking into their lunch and we still hadn't had ours. We had to chase the waiter for our meals, which still took a little while to arrive. The waiter then brought the meals, one of which was the wrong meal! The Sunday lunches, when we had the correct ones, were disappointing: Flat Yorkshire puddings with burnt ends and dry/tough chicken. Overall a disappointing experience.
