Perfect venue in every way for a family get together.

Whilst technology is often fantastic in terms of QR code ordering, it would be even better if the staff actually paid some attention at the tills so as to make the orders in the first place without customers having to then go to the bar to remind the staff you’ve made an order!

It was recommended by a friend. We had a most enjoyable meal. The staff were very friendly.

I go to the Wheatsheaf fairly often and have always enjoyed it, but I stopped by with my father in law who has very complex dietary requirements. Archie listened to what his issues were and basically helped him to create a meal out of what he was able to eat. He dealt with it in incredibly sensitively and made no big deal out of what usually becomes a bit of an awkward situation. Thank you Archie and I will definitely stop by more often now 👍🏻

We love the food and atmosphere, our waiter was great he gave us lots of advice etc, can’t fault x one observation maybe ask a couple of staff to watch their language some people’s voices travel!

We met up with friends here whilst on the way to an Airbnb in nearby Pitton for the weekend. We booked for a Friday lunchtime and there was a relaxed yet welcoming atmosphere. The bar/waiting staff were all super friendly, helpful and attentive. We had our dog with us who was allowed in the restaurant and we were shown water and doggy ice cream to keep him happy! The bar staff also remembered our drinks order the 2nd/3rd time which is only a small detail but really makes you feel welcome. Would definitely come back if we’re ever back in the area.

Haven’t even finished eating yet and giving this place 5 stars. Great service, solid prices, could honestly get away with being a little pricier if they wanted to. As an American, for what’s that’s worth, I’ve not been impressed much here. But this place was awesome. I had the steak frites, my wife had the pork belly. All great. Finished off with the sticky toffee desert and it made me mad that we don’t have it in the US, it was incredible. Beer and wine were great as well. I’ll likely never have a chance to eat here again but I would make it a specific place to eat if I ever do!

We are not from the area, but popped in en-route to going back home (Suffolk). We received our food exceptionally quickly and it was excellent quality. The waiting service was the best I have ever experienced anywhere. We were served today by Willis, who was an exceptional waiter. We have eaten out in many places and were taken aback by his high standards of service.

Really great food, service and atmosphere. We will return if in this neck of the woods again. The sticky toffee pudding was really nice! As was our waitress! Thank you! (Family of 4 with 2 children under 10)

Ate here with colleagues midweek, so fairly quiet. Food was very good (best steak and ale pie I’ve had for…possibly ever). We were looked after by a guy named Willis and several people at our table commented on how excellent he was, knowledgeable, easy, not fussy. Excellent all round.

We regularly visit the Wheatsheaf for dinner and lunch but the last two times we have been it has not been great! The food is just below any good standard.

Came for lunch in the week, had 3 courses and the food was all really good. The service was even better. Very friendly jovial atmosphere. We will definitely come back.

This pub is consistently good. Never a problem booking a table, pretty interior, warm and welcoming. Really friendly bunch running the show and producing excellent quality meals .What more can you ask for, which is why we keep going back.

After a long dog walk around the beautiful woodford valley we arrived at the Weatsheaf, lovely lady Bev quickly showed us to our reserved table. My husband and I both ordered the steak and tanglefoot pie with mash and red cabbage, it was delicious! I didn’t want it to end lol. Lovely atmosphere so will be back again to sample the burger that wafted by us looking equally lovely.

I met the restaurant during the holidays and could not be more satisfied. We arrived without reservation quite late but were immediately greeted with a lot of sympathy. The food was wonderful and the service was amazing. The restaurant has a rustic decor and very welcoming. Toilet perfectly clean. My daughter booked in for Mothering Sunday We have been here on various occasions, however we would have to think if we would visit again. The service was mediocre as was the food it was poorly presented and barely warm. The vegetables seemed as though the fresh ran out and replaced by frozen. Our table was not the best and as I say the service left a lot to be desired Would not recommend on this visit which is rather disappointing

On arrival at The Wheatsheaf I was met by a young lady who welcomed us and then told us we had 1 hour and 15 minutes to eat our meal. Nothing was mentioned of this when booking and if it had been I would not have booked. We had a decent main course with a bottle of wine and then a delicious dessert but it was all spoiled by a feeling of being rushed! It was Mother's Day. A day for treating a mother and enjoying a good, relaxed Sunday lunch. Your limited time at table rules ruined it! What are you thinking? This is clearly about profit and cramming in as many customers as possible and shows no consideration to those customers. I will be reviewing The Wheatsheaf on Tripadvisor and Google and rest assured I will make sure people know of your greedy rule.

Poor. It was not a nice experience for a number of reasons Firstly - having to pay a deposit to secure a table booking. That's fine, but there's nothing to say that the deposit will be taken off the bill at the end of the meal. I had to phone and confirm. It was an unnecessary hassle and it should be made clear when booking online. Arrived for a table at 12pm. Was told we only had the table until 1:45pm. Nothing wrong with that in theory, but it's a pretty sad way to start your dining experience "welcome, enjoy, but you'd better be watching the clock". Not welcoming at all. Thirdly - the roast was ok. For the amount you charge for a roast I'd expect better. There are places locally who charge a similar amount and the quality is better and the portions bigger. Not terrible, but I wouldn't be recommending it to anyone at that price. Finally - you don't take cash. That an absolute load of crap. I only had cash on me and was told that there are signs at the bar that state it's only card, however, how is someone meant to know what upon first visit? It's not exactly clear when booking online. It was embarrassing having to ask my mother to pay for her own mother's day lunch because you don't accept legal tender. Honestly, very disappointed and won't be recommending to anyone. I am not alone in this opinion either, I had some friends also dining that day at different tables/times and they echo exactly the same sentiments.

Always a lovely atmosphere, outside in the sunny days and cosy in the winter. Food is great, nice specials usually also. Deserts very good, recommend sticky toffee pudding! Service is brilliant, helpful, happy and welcoming.

I used to live in the area as a kid when I moved to the UK and The Wheatsheaf was always amazing then, I'm glad that you are still amazing today!

We turned up as a family and enjoyed good food, good drink and a nice atmosphere.

We have been to this Wheatsheaf many times and have always had great food. Unfortunately last night the food was well below expectations. All meals were completely tasteless and bordering on cold. The baked Camembert was ice cold and when we sent it back was obviously heated up in the microwave. It was also obvious that my steak was pre cooked in the microwave. The chicken dish was supposed to have been cooked in a spicy sauce but instead it was dry and the sauce an oily orange mess. The hassleback potatoes were burnt and inedible. To their credit when we complained they removed one meal from the bill and offered free desserts.

Absolutely love this pub. So much character and atmosphere. The staff are really welcoming and friendly. I’ve been a few times now and I intend to keep visiting.

This is our third visit to The Wheatsheaf having moved to the area in December. All the staff are very welcoming and the service is excellent. The food has been delicious on all three occasions and they have a great range of beers. They permit dogs, which for us is a massive plus. Would definitely recommend

We were a table of 12 including 4 children aged between 1 and 6, so it was busy and chaotic but the staff were wonderful, the atmosphere friendly and happy, and the food was delicious.

This pub is perfect. No issues at all. It's cosy, with good food and good ale. The fireplaces and comfortable sofas really make a hard day worth it. It's a great local pub, with plenty on. The massive garden makes it even better during the summer.

This is a Hall & Woodhouse owned pub and it works, it's warm and well maintained and the staff are very good, the food is perfect for the price, no complaints here...

Well it was our third visit and we went because it was a monday ( 1/3 off ) for early afternoon dinner, i have to be honest we waited 10 minutes ( not an eternity i grant but it was less than busy ) to be asked ref drinks, my wife asked for 1/2 pint Coke Zero and got a pint, when we came to pay i had to remind the waitress it was monday and get another bill printed that was okay but uncomfortable - so we will definately be back but little things make a big difference......PS

Flipping delish food, friendly and helpful staff, tasteful decor/artwork and a well poured pint. What more could I ask for? Wasn’t keen on seeing optional 10% SC pre-added… this isn’t America BUT all in all I highly recommend this place!

Disappointed on many levels. Booked for Sunday lunch. We're seated on a tiny table in walk way by toilets, having my coat and hat knocked off back of chair several times by people uncomfortably having to squeeze by and then apologising, made us feel very embarrassed and those trying to use toilet facilities. Starters we're small presented well but underwhelming and lacking taste. Ordered two Sunday roasts, came with literally no veg and gravy that lacked flavour, I expect granules. Yorkshire pudding looked fabulous but that was literally the only positive, our side orders completely forgotten, but that's not surprising as to how overly packed the place was and the poor staff being utterly ran off their feet. Sad to say Another beautiful pub with good staff ruined by pub chains "Hall & Woodhouse, this time. Oh and the poor fella at bar had to use his own personal bank account so we could pay as the company "refuse cash" the currency of this country I thought!!!! So I have to give a low over all experience. 2 stars

Definitely our favourite 'go to' place in Wiltshire; the food is fantastic, real ale is spot on; and getting there is always a delight.

Great site, but only 4 stars due to the commercialisation. You pay £26 per person. Nowadays you need to take a coach which is already included in the price. I have been there on many occasions 2 decades ago. I am disappointed that they moved away the car park.

We had the best day ever and thanks so much to Bev and the Team for the excellent service. There were 18 of us and the food was not only fabulous but service ran like a dream in addition to being great fun. We'll be back soon for more of the same!

Drink selection is great and the staff are fantastic but the food really isn’t great at all. Been taken here by family a few times now and it’s overpriced, the portions are sporadic with some meals being tiny and almost everything is over cooked, hard hasselbacks, dry salmon, wilted veg. Go for a drink but avoid the food if you know what good food is.

Boxing day dinner, excellent from starter to pudding 10 out of 10,staff where absolutely great.HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Service and food was outstanding! Came for a stress free Christmas and that is what we got, Bev was amazing and catered to all our requests! Will be coming back in 2024. Dani handled my booking and she was so patient and helpful, The rest of the staff were amazing too I just unfortunately didn’t get their names but thank you everyone at the Wheatsheaf!

I had a superb lunch here yesterday, with three family members, one of whom is a 7 year old. The menu options were great and included several vegetarian options as well as a children's menu. I should also add that the activity bag for my granddaughter was among the best I've ever seen! The pub is in a lovely rural setting with a large car park. The pub itself is quite large, but it's kind of separated into three areas, so it feels cosy. The decor throughout is what one would expect of a country pub, just lovely! Service was efficient without being rushed, and the food really was lovely. We are not local to the Salisbury area, but if we were, we would definitely choose this pub again.

I wholeheartedly recommend this Pub. My friends and I went to Stonehenge and then visited this Pub. the waitress was very nice and friendly. He quickly brought us the food we ordered. the food is very tasty. the setting and atmosphere in the pub is unique. we were very satisfied. I recommend everyone to come and immerse yourself in the amazing atmosphere of this pub

I absolutely loved the atmosphere, food, and service. The food was phenomenal - I had the nourish salad bowl and I wasn't in the least disappointed. The waitress was super accommodating as well to my vegetarian needs. I highly recommend this gem in the Salisbury countryside.

Was trying to find somewhere to eat after visiting Stonehenge on way back towards Bournemouth. A few places seem to close at 3pm for food. This however didn't and how we were glad we choose to east here Plenty of parking, on arrival staff were really attentive. We had a main course and drinks Steak n ale pie with mash and veg, I did ask to change part of the veg which they were more than happy to do. My wife had the beetroot Wellington which she said was delicious. A very nice meal in a nice historic pub, would definitely recommend if your in the area.

Me and my brother and I had Sunday roast, and the fast service was good. The meal was fine. We had to ask for extra grave as very little when the meal arrived, we both had 4 very small roast potatoes, which didn't put us in a good mood I thought thats what Sunday roast were all about, the vegetables were a little hard and chunky. The beef wasn't anything to shout about, but the atmosphere was great, plus sitting out in the garden for a drink.
