Called in for a snack at lunch time today, after going there for a drink a few days ago after work with some colleages ( it was the first time I had ever been to this pub). I thought this is very nice here!! I will call in again. My wife and just had a starter each which was very nice, although the amount of bread served with it was quite meagre, we asked for some more bread and a single slice was bought out to us. When we checked our receipt on leaving the pub and we were amazed to discover that we had been charged an extra pound for the slice of bread!! A pound for a slice of bread...really!! This rather spoiled a lovely lunch and tarnished our visit.

The food at the wheatsheaf was incredible. The Chef is amazing, highly recommend!

We came here for a meal and a few drinks, the service from instantly walking in was outstanding. Got seated even though they were very busy. Then the food came out at the food was 10/10 even when we had a few complications with needs of our group. Will definitely visit again and it’s nice to visit such a nice pub with a friendly atmosphere. Recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A cracking pub, good food, and great, friendly service

Staff do Not know the menu, arrived for Sunday lunch, was told they did Sunday Roast. Ha ha, Roast pork turned out to be a small portion of belly pork. Terrible place, will never return and have spread the word.

I just popped in for a quick pint, great beers nice shielded garden with sun. Does exactly what it says on the tin 😉

Very friendly and helpful staff and lovely food!

The staff are excellent, faultless. The food was worth every penny, and very very tasty. The IPA was served at the perfect temperature..the courtyard garden was well spaced, and a south facing sun trap. Treat yourself you won't be disappointed.

The only roast dinner I have enjoyed from a pub in God knows how long.qualtiy ingredients, friendly staff and just a really nice pub. We will be back that's for sure 😁

One of the best pubs in Eastbourne. Dog friendly, great selection of local beer and ales and a fabulous menu including pies to die for. Food really is excellent. Karen and the team have made a fab community hub here, would recommend to anyone wanting to try an authentic pub in Willingdon!

Been a few times nothing to complain about, however, need to update opening times, popped in at 7pm to have a quick drink and was told they were closed, as far as I was aware I still had an hour

Hired out an area of the pub for a 30th. It was amazing, staff were incredible and the food was out of this world! Would highly recommend.

Always the warmest of welcomes. I had the rare roast beef which was cooked to perfection with delicious crispy roasties. Couldn't fault the food or the service. A really lovely pub with great food.

nice pub with good food and friendly service with a relaxed atmosphere

Celebrated a family birthday, 15 of us, staff were absolutely fantastic, food was great, and service was excellent. Lovely pub.

What a difference five years makes!! This time the food was really good and plenty of it. A sharing camembert to start with, gorgeous. Next, the pie, full of real chicken, and the seasonal veg (not peas and carrots as before but carrots, cabbage and tenderstem broccoli) was perfectly cooked. For the finale, the white chocolate and blueberry cheesecake. (Should have had my own instead of sharing!) A great meal to celebrate an anniversary. We'll be back!

Lovely little pub in terms of guests and locale. Unfortunately some members of the staff were incredibly rude. I wouldn’t rent out the room for a function. It’s very small, not accommodating and the buffet food is really disappointing, poorly made and very overpriced. It’s a shame because it’s a nice little pub and some of the staff were lovely. But the entire time we were there, we were made to feel unwelcome and an inconvenience by other more senior members of staff

What a place. The interior is cozy, warm and rustic. The staff are absolutely fantastic, very attentive, friendly and know the menu well. The waitress welcomed us in, made us feel comfortable, and recommended we get the homemade steak and ale pie, which I thought sounded a bit dear at £17. However, let me tell you - that was not only the best pie I ever had - that was one of the nicest dishes I ever had. wow. I was honestly gutted that we were only in the area for the day. So thank you, because I would genuinely make that 2.5hour drive down there again just to have that pie. Absolutely Incredible.

At last a lovely pub and restaurant with quality homemade food. The pie's are yummy and the service was great to. Lovely garden to chill out in. Even better it's close by so no excuse not to try more of the menu. Plus they serve Harvey's, need l say more.

Great food. Lots of choice on drinks too. Slightly slow service but we could tell they were busy. Really good all around. We will be returning.

Mothers we're made feel unwelcome because we only wanted a drink banished to the garden.

DOES NOT CATER FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES. We booked a table for Mother’s Day 2023, on the phone they didn’t say anything about having a certain meal etc, just standard details. We have 2 children with additional needs, autism, GDD, ADHD, SDP. When we arrived we were seated, at a table that was missing a chair, and then a waitress came over after about 5-10 minutes with a small A7 board with 3 starters, roast dinners and 3 desserts on it. We then started to explain about our children’s needs, and that we were not made aware of a special menu, as on the website it has a menu and did not say anything about the menu being different . As per their website it states “ we can cater for disabled guest” we asked if they could do some chips, or garlic bread. Some thing that was easy for the kitchen to do. They said NO. So they clearly don’t cater for disabled guest, I would not go back to a restaurant that can’t make reasonable adjustments or cater for my children. NOT A PLACE THAT CATERS FOR DISABILITIES

Absolutely excellent service and customer care, superb stop off at the base of the Sussex Downs (Butts brow) in Eastbourne, dietary requirements are observed and the beer is correctly cared for so very well recommended. The recent changes have been excellent improvements.

Visited on a Sunday lunch,called ahead to book and this was no issue. Pub is tucked away on a side road and parking is a bit of an issue but doable. The main door is literally on the road so extra attention if you visit with young children as road is narrow. Sat down and was seen pretty quickly, didn't receive my drink as it's was oos,wasn't told so had to ask again but this was rectified straight away. Upon placing order I asked if I could swap the braised cabbage for another vegetable or not have cabbage as I'm allergic to vinegar and was told no as all the vegetables are already portioned,found this a little odd as this was 12:30 and the first roast serving,had it been later in the day I would have understood but found it odd and not very accommodating to an allergy. We ordered beef and pork roast,both roasts were nicely cooked,the pork crackling was perfect and the beef nicely cooked but food wasn't as hot as I would've liked but nonetheless a nice meal.ordered desserts- sticky toffee pudding and banoffee pie,really disappointed with the golf size ball of ice-cream in my sticky toffee pudding and even more disappointed with being charged £2.50 for a very small scoop of plain vanilla icrecream for my little one, the banoffee pie was really tasty.

Really good pub in the countryside. It is huge! Good was good, staff was super friendly. It’s a dog friendly place which is great for us with our puppy. Would defo come back, easy and non pretentious pub

Well! What can I say. This is what you call a real pub, ever aspect is perfect, the food is absolutely outstanding, most made on the premises. We moved down to this area just over a year ago and people recommend to try this place, I wish we had tried it months ago, we had relatives come and visit us a few Sundays ago, we booked a table (recommend) and they were simply blown away by the quality of the food,.A big thank you to Karen and Angie for making this a super place.

The quintessential village pub. Excellent choice of Sunday roasts (pork belly with superb crackling), Harveys and Long Man real ales and traditional puddings (apple crumble or sticky toffee). Deservedly popular, worth seeking out.

It's a lovely place to eat. Relax have a drink we love this place. The staff cannot do enough to make us feel welcome every time. We'll done Karen and everybody great team.

I've been a few times in the last year, and the quality improves each time. They've recently got a new chef and the quality and creativity of the food has improved dramatically. The staff are always extremely friendly and work hard to support my disabled parent.

Fantastic pub, went on holiday with my dad and my 2yo boy. They welcomed us so much the first night, and made me feel so relaxed with a Terrible toddler in tow that we went back for all three nights. Very tasty food, not one bad comment to make. Special shout out to Helen and izzy who looked after us so well.

Very sparse menu for sunday lunch. the usual roasts. Not very varied. Parking was the problem. Very narrow road and lots .of resident cars. . No good if your disabled. I had to park in Church St..My roast beef was full of gristle. I thought £ 14 was a tad expensive for roast beef . All in all aftercreading the reviews I was disappointed .

The staff were great, food lovely and the prices reasonable. Go enjoy.

Popped in for a lovely lunch with friends, the start were very welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. The burgers were lovely, we sat in the garden and enjoyed a bottle of wine. Lovely pub, great service will be back.

Karen and her team could not have been more accommodating when a group of us turned up near the end of lunchtime service yesterday. We were made to feel welcome , the food was delicious, and the service was outstanding. Apologies to the chef....we will give more notice next time and there will definitely be a next time. 😁

Not been here in 7 years but after a long dog walk we decided to pop in as we were passing by....Very friendly and welcoming inside. Had a fabulous burger with amazing Chips (thank you Chef )...Dog friendly and doggie treats on the bar.....Staff very helpful and polite.....Very enjoyable lunchtime......

I really liked this pub. The food is well above average and is quite innovative. Our server was on point and very pleasant Atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Packed on a Thursday night. Highly recommended
