Had great service and food ! Finally we made it after a year putting this place as a wishing list. It's worth stopping. We went there for lunch, it has a big garden in the back, if you want to hold a concert I bet it's enough space. There were even some birdies company us which was so cute. 💪🏽

Great Sunday roasts, friendly staff and a charming country pub setting.

Stopped for a drink, very friendly staff and lots of outdoor seating.

All round amazing experience, would recommend every time. The food was one of the best roasts we have ever had and get the choice of chicken, lamb, beef or gammon. The staff were so friendly and tentative and we cannot wait to come back and use the beer garden in the summer.

Great burgers, service was quick, friendly staff. I will be back to try other menu options.

A group of us went here last night for a lovely meal! The staff are very welcoming and polite and were happy to remove items from burgers and the mac n cheese for those who are fussy about their greens and burger sauces! 😅 The food is absolutely gorgeous and well presented. The portion sizes are seriously generous, so great for those that like a good plate of food! Great selection of food and drinks. I had the bbq pulled pork burger, which also came with chips, and both were delightful and very filling, we then finished off with a biscoff cheesecake, which again was fresh and divine! Worth every penny! Thanks for having us! We'll certainly be back for more!

Excellent pub amazing food and great staff

Just had a fantastic roast dinner. Had the three meat option and to be honest should have just gone for the one version, as portions were very large, which is a good thing. Beautiful meat, freshly cooked veg, great service. Will deffo be back

We stumbled across this pub on the way back home from a spa hotel near by. A warm welcome, delicious Sunday roast and fantastic service made me give this place 5 stars out of 5. Beautiful pub garden out the back which I’m sure we’ll return for in the summer !

Since the reopening we visited today for Sunday lunch we was not disappointed from Anita the chef and the waitress it was a fantastic experience the food was so good as was the portions credit to you all Dave & Ann Wilson

This is a very British pub and serves a good range of drinks including Hawkstone which is Jeremy Clarkeson branded lager.The pub is on the Hawkstone website. Personal service by Landlords Chris and India with a good detailed explanation of the menu provided. Plenty of seating area in a cosy dining area with woodburning fires. The food was exceptional both starters and main meals were so delicious. I advise you to try the rib rack that Chris does falls off the bone! My party tried a variety off the menu and were so pleased and full with the quantity on the plate. Chris is a fantastic chef and has a large following from the Horsham area for his food. Book a table you shall not be disappointed!

Went for our first meal here last Friday, food was brilliant, chicken wings were massive! Couldn’t fault the service. This will be our new ‘go to’ for meals out. The only place in Horsham I know of that serves hawkstone.

Just popped in for a pint on early on a Saturday evening and the pub was very busy in the restaurant. The food looked fantastic. Very friendly bar staff.

Having followed Chris on Instagram for a while now, we felt it was only right to visit with friends for a roast and all I can say is that it was an insanely good roast! Didn’t even need a knife to cut the meats they were so soft and you get all the trimmings needed to make it money incredibly well spent. Drinks are very fairly priced! We will 100% be back!

Unbelievable lunch as always, you won't regret coming here for either lunch or dinner, great value!

We popped as we have passed this pub regulatly and as it was a sunny afternoon decided to pop in. Absolutely beautiful pub. Outside areas were calming. You can sit outside in the sun but we decided to sit under the grapevines. Food and service was outstanding. Will definitely be coming again.

The food was over priced. It came out cold. Thing's that are clearly stated on the menu came out completely differently. The drinks were only half filled. Will definitely not be returning.

First time here with family, absolutely lovely place so relaxing , very good service the outside area reminded me of being abroad. Food was absolutely delicious a little pricey but worth it. (Unfortunately forgot to take photos of the food) But would recommend to anyone.

Lovely sunny day so decided to pop to the Wheatsheaf for something to eat. Our waiter Jack was attentive, friendly, polite and honest. He’s a credit to the wheatsheaf and wherever he goes.

I visited a few weeks back and this is one of those reviews where I really want to score higher because the guy behind the bar (who I think was doing everything on his own that evening) was friendly and provided such quick and attentive service. Unfortunately I was a little bit disappointed with the food. The starters were okay, we had dumplings and the prawn tempura but really wasn't keen on the coconut salsa which was essentially cold coconut milk. The mains (we had a burger and a pie) were, again not bad, but a little underwhelming and since it was food we visited for this is what i have to score on. I will go back for a drink and to see what the outside bar is like in summer but maybe not for food. Oh and this is just personal taste, but the quirky interior that other reviews mention is really not my thing!

Great to have this place back open - have been in a couple of times since it's reopened and has been spot on both times. My boys are eagerly anticipating the return of some activity type stuff in the garden!

Food just ok, but very limited menu and very inflexible when it comes to substituting something on your order. I wouldn’t hurry back

We had a lovely lunch here recently, the sun was shining so we were able to enjoy the outside space and bar which is really nice. Friendly staff and great service we will definitely go again.

My husband and I found this pub on a whim. We were late for our table at another pub nearby and we couldn’t get a table any later ….. booked the wheatsheaf online and I am so glad we missed our other reservation! What a wonderful quirky pub with great staff and tasty food! Everything we could have asked for … thanks for such a great lunch! If we lived closer we would definitely visit this place more often!

First visit to this pub and had a lovely evening. Very good service and food. Had the veggie option (think this was the only one, so would be good to see more vegan options on menu in future). Looks like there is a big pub garden so will be back to enjoy in the summer.

Great beer garden friendly staff and good atmosphere

Despite recently taking ownership of the pub, they held an amazing wake for us with approx 60 guests. Fabulous buffet, very attentive and really looked after us.

Poor attitude from new management letting down a pub with great potential. We stopped here for a drink yesterday on the bank holiday Monday, 1st of April hoping for some snacks to enjoy the garden after a nice long walk. Unfortunately the manager, who was serving, refused to serve me chips outside. We were the only people sitting outside and they were unable to accomodate bringing us a plate of chips because "there's no table numbers outside". I stated that we wanted to enjoy the garden and did not wish to sit inside and he still refused to let me buy some snack plates. That's just embarrassing. As someone who has been in service for many years I was embarrassed for the incompetent man who refused me service for snacks. This pub deserves better. The ownership have clearly put effort into it and it deserves a manager who is more intelligent, amenable and less of a jobsworth.

Fabulous afternoon! Sitting in the sunshine ☀️ listening to Charlie Cooper playing his acoustic set. What a talent! The food was delicious and the friendly family atmosphere was great. The children really enjoyed the music too - dancing away. The perfect way to spend Easter Saturday 🥂

Only went for beer so can’t comment on the food but it looked okay.

Ate some food and had a couple of beers here earlier. Highly recommended, friendly staff and the food was fantastic. If anyone knows me I'm the first to complain or find faults but I can't with this place. A complete 10/10 from me!

Wife took me out for dinner to try out pub under new owners and I was amazed by how nice the food was Staff were amazing and really was service with smile Food was hot ,very tasty and reasonably priced Will be back very soon to try the other dishes

Really nice pub. Went for a drink and some food on a Friday evening: Landlady was super friendly and welcoming, pub has a relaxed atmosphere, and the food was good. We’ll visit again when the weather gets a bit warmer. Maybe just slightly leas raw onion to garnish the food and salads- not everyone loves them and they can detract from the taste. But otherwise excellent!

Not impressed with this pub, when I went there few years ago it was a lovely pub with lovely lunch menu where you can sit in the garden, I turned up today with some friends following online saying it was open and it said “closed for maintenance” which was very disappointing, I couldn’t see anything happening to the pub and didn’t notify when the pub will be open again!

Wow the food was good but not what I am use to get from at that price

We stopped for some food at this pub due to being in the area for the Leonardlees light show (which I also highly recommend) and the pub was an absolute gem of a find! Even if the food hadn't been as good as it was, I would still give 5 stars anyway for the exemplary customer service by the young gentleman serving us, he is a massive credit to employers and really made us feel welcome. The food was great and generously portioned, and we were sat right by the cosy fire. The pub was vegan friendly, family friendly, dog friendly and the food was delicious! A well deserved 5 stars all round, we will definitely return another time.

We had a Christmas dinner here, 2 courses, what lovely friendly staff, nice warm cosy pub, and the meal was delicious. We will go again!

Visited 14 Dec 22 as we were passing and wanted lunch. Very friendly and helpful chap called Connor behind the bar. He seemed to be working the bar on his own. He showed us to a table straight away - we were given options of where we could sit. We were also given menus, including festive one and told about exceptions and specials, etc.. We ordered drinks, and I had the plum porter from a local brewery - Kissingate. It was divine. We ordered the turkey dinner, and this was served to us pretty quickly. It was all served inside a large Yorkshire pudding, and the portion was very generous. We also had a dessert, which was also served quickly. It was nice and tasty, and the veg were not cooked to a mush, which was nice. The atmosphere was nice, there was a nice open fire and the place was nicely decorated for Christmas. Pretty good value, too, with 2 2-course Christmas meals and drinks coming in at just over £50. From our experience, we will visit again and recommend this place to others.

Been promising ourselves a visit for far too long. Finally did so and not disappointed by the lunchtime visit. The gardens are great with a vine canopy if you wish some shade. The food was good and plentiful. Options for gluten free are also available. Worth a visit!!

Quirky pub, nice inside and large garden area. Tasty food apart from childrens mac and cheese was low quality, it was not eaten.

Sadly, very disppointing. Having visited a number of times over the years, we were very disappointed. The kids play area is no more, the outside seating area was spacious, but more like a graveyard for old benches. And there was a discarded bag of dog poo in one of the borders. In the past, the food had been excellent pub grub, but now, it was more akin to something you could make at home, and far more cheaply. I ordered the fish finger on toasted ciabatta with chips, expecting something more than frozen fish fingers (2 of them) in a shop bought ciabatta, that had been nowhere near a toaster. The chips again looked store bought. I understand it's been a very tough few years for hospitality, and with the current cost of living crisis it will continue to be tough, but a lunch out is supposed to be a treat, and I expected far better, not something I could have made at home and eaten in the garden with a beer!

Absolutely loved pub really nice place. The food on the other hand is absolutely s**t My other half's chicken was dry a chewy. 3 kids meals were vile one if them was pizza beans and chips and the pizza looked worse then a tesco 40p value one. And to top it off we was over charged on the menu prices pint of harveys was £4.50 on the menu I paid £5 and the cheap fruit shoots were 1.90 on the menu we was charged 2.20. When I brought it up nothing was done to change it. I would avoid this place like the plauge . We will never be coming back ! Also dog poo all over the garden not great for the kids ! Avoid!!!
