Perfect place for a short stop over in the lovely little village of Atherstone. Very friendly owners/staff and the room was excellent. Possibly the best value for money for any place I've stayed before...would definitely go back.

Stayed over for the night in the family room. Room was modern clean and perfect for a small family. Wouldn’t hesitate returning if I was needing to stay in atherstone. again. If I’m honest the room was far better than most big chains, nice personal touches.

Had a lovely night staying at the Wheatsheaf. Lovely room with a great bathroom, newly refurbished. Comfy bed with tea coffee hot chocolate and cakes in the room. The staff couldn't be friendlier. Reasonably priced. Would stay there again.

This is such a wonderful addition to Atherstone’s places to stay. The welcome and hospitality is fabulous, such kind and warm people. My room is well appointed, cosy and comfortable. Rates are extremely reasonable and worth every penny. I shall definitely be returning.

I live on a narrowboat so I have Sunday Lunch all over the country. I love the home cooked meals rather than the fancy ones and I can honestly say that this is the best home cooked Sunday Lunch of the year.It was massive - how I finished it I never know - but just had to as it was so tasty.Looking forward to returning when I am next in the area.

Well following a look at the ever trusty TA, we decided to give this pub a try. Being in the area and knowing which pub to avoid from a previous visit to Atherstone, we popped in for lunch. It seemed very quiet, there being only a few locals in at that time. The Landlord was friendly and welcoming we ordered drinks and meals. The food was worth waiting for, a little longer than some pubs. I had steak, chips and salad, all nicely cooked and the steak was very tender. Hub ordered a burger, which he enjoyed. We found the food to be freshly prepared and good quality. Prices are keen. Now here's the but...if you are fussed by surroundings, this pub definitely has a 70's vibe to say the least. It doesn't really look like the pics on here - but what's a Formica table amongst friends? Lol! There is lots of competition in the area too.A few more people were arriving as we were leaving and there was a friendly atmosphere, so yes we would return and recommend. Bet the Sunday lunches are good.

We were recommended to eat here by the landlady of another pub that doesn't do food. There were two real ales available, one of which sadly was Doom Bar. We both ordered an All-Day Breakfast as these are usually quick to turn out. We noted that there was one couple ahead of us who had already ordered. Perhaps we had to wait for them to prepare and cook Roast Potatoes or something similar, for the other table, as the wait for our meals seemed never ending. The eggs, when they came were overcooked, the sausages and mushrooms were deep fried but the Baked Beans were Ok.

Why do landlords think it's ok to state, in 9" tall letters on a permanent banner outside the pub, `FOOD NOW BEING SERVED' when actually it's not! Our family was pretty much laughed out of this place by arrogant and dismissive bar staff whilst we searched for somewhere to eat at around 5pm when serving stops at 4:30! There will be no attempt to revisit. Their loss.

Have had many meals at this pub including the full English breakfast, meals from the menu and the fab Sunday dinner, (which offers a choice of three meats most weeks) is the best value for money. The food is fresh and well cooked. The staff are very friendly and make you feel as though you are one of the family. Can highly recommend.

My Wife and I have been regulars at this pub since its re-opening back in 2014. This is an overall review as we have been in many times for a meal but this establishment has only recently been added to TripAdvisor.

Can't comment on the food as we didn't eat. Nice, quiet, friendly village pub. Undergoing renovations.

Favourite second hand bookstore, affordable coffee and food in the cafe and gluten and dairy free options too! I am here as regularly as I possibly can to be amongst the history of it all. Every time I see something new!

Nice vibe, clean, tidy, good service. Food pretty good. £25 for a quite nice chicken ceasar salad and chips in is punchy in my view but...hey ..everything is subjective. That's life I guess! Give it a whirl and see what you think.
