Just missed the 1.45 cut off for food ,but had a pint and the food others had looked and smelt lovely.Polite service and a very nice pint that was cheaper than expected.We will be back for food.

Fantastic food yesterday carnt say a bad word about the beer nice and cold might bring the family in lovely atmosphere lovely warm welcome 🙏 great people to be around out weighing the bad reviews on hear carnt believe some people who would say such bad things I believe all this to be untrue will DEFINITELY COME BACK !!!!

Had a really lovely evening, typically old country pub with a great atmosphere. Food was amazing, thankyou Paul and staff.

Absolutely delicious food, hand cut chips too! Real ales and friendly service. The landlord cares about his customers and it shows everywhere. Thank you for a wonderful lunch.

Third week here.. the lady behind the bar is miserable as sin.. no smiles or warm welcome for the past three weeks. The beer today was warm and ended up in the bushes. The food today was a total waste of money.. chewy gammon, the chips were lily white undercooked, and the egg was like rubber. Don’t waste your time and money here.. unwelcoming atmosphere and wouldn’t feed my dog this tripe. Needless to say I will NEVER return to this establishment.

Went today, 26th may 2024. Had the lamb Sunday roast and the Apple and rhubarb crumble with custard. Meal was delicious. The pub was like going back in time.how village pubs should be. Very friendly staff and customers. Will highly recommend. We will definately come back one I've had my chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment. Xx

The menu on the website is NOT the one we were offered on Saturday 17th May 2024. It's a long time since I ate powdered mash and cheap sausages and thick gloopy granules gravy. The fish and chips my husband had were very similar to Aldis battered fish. We chose to sit outside because we had 2 large dogs with us but the seating was road side and a building site. We spotted what looked like a pleasant beer garden as we left but the staff never directed us to it. Awful experience and end to our holiday. Thankfully we won't ever have to consider going back

I have fond memories of The Dog Inn with my late lovely wife, our little dog and friends. This time I came with my neighbour and had a lovely salmon meal.

Visited 2nd March. Absolutely lovely food and friendly staff. Wonderful old traditional pub! The highlight for us had to be the beautiful little dog who greeted us on arrival! Thank you, we will be back again soon!

Small pub in the country, brilliant service and amazing food

Staying local so thought we'd have a walk here as came recommended by our campsite owner . The ale was perfect a selection of 3 so something for everyone also a good selection of other drinks including tea and coffee. When you see a Frank Parker ( local butcher ) van delivering you know the food is going to be good . We both had gammon and it was the best we'd had for a long time. We'll be back to sample the fish and chips as they looked beautiful.

Paul was very accommodating. We had a lunchtime menu, which was good value. Nice friendly pub.

An excellent range of really good value classic pub dishes at great prices (great chips and lasagne!). Child and dog-friendly and a good location for country walks.

Delicious Turkey baps with stuffing, cranberry sauce and wonderful roast potatoes. Perfect on a rainy December day. Great staff, fantastic atmosphere. Dogs are extremely well catered fir with their own menu.

A proper traditional country pub with fantastic food at great prices. Recently visited and was extremely impressed by everything about our meal. Tender steaks & so much food for such a reasonable price.Please note don't snack too much before your visit !

I’m local and have tried all the pubs around here, but for quality and value Sunday roast you won’t beat the dog, the steaks are 2nd to none too😁😁

A very typical East Midlands country pub which grows quainter with every passing year. Thankfully much the same as 30 years ago and relatively busy. Shame that the birds and animals have gone, but good BBQ option. The ordinary man's rural England

I'm unable to give a review of the Dog Inn as it was closed much to my disappointment. However I would like to try to visit it again at a later date.

Absolutely beautiful location and pub! Staff are extremely welcoming, very nice and clean atmosphere. Food was amazing couldn’t have asked for better value for money. 10/10 would recommend. Big shoutout to Ellie, Dani and Becky. Kass is by far the best head chef I’ve ever known of.

Nice traditional pub with a pretty beer garden in a pleasant village. The present owners are a vast improvement since we visited a few years ago. We decided to give the pub another go and were impressed with the food and friendly service. The pub is popular but not overcrowded or noisy with loud music and people shouting to be heard. It was nice to be able chat with or say hello to the other customers. I had a rump steak which was the tenderest rump I have ever tasted. Not overpriced. We live 20 mins away but will be making The Dog our local.

Is Braised Beef still on the menu . ?

A lovely traditional country pub. Cosy inside and a pretty little beer garden. Food good pub grub - we had the sharing platter plus chips and now nice and full. Paddle board ale taster is good for those who only want one pint but wish to try three of what is on tap.

Staff was very nice. There was plenty of choice for drinks, however a small menu and not much choice. I ordered chicken goujons and it was like a cheap frozen bag of processed chicken from a super market. Greasy chips and onion rings weren’t crispy was soggy. Over priced for what it was.

Have been coming here since about November. Food is reasonably priced and a good variety. Emma who works of a lunchtime is a credit to the pub. Nothing is too much trouble for her. Would definitely recommend the Dog Inn.

Haven't been for a while , it is a lovely old pub with oodles of character, I heard it was under new management, I just hope they have sorted out the lighting as it was very dismal with horrid glaring bulbs, the lighting absolutely ruined's the atmosphere, in the winter it is better as they light the fire which makes it much cosier and that helps with the lack of warm lighting, food pretty much ok, with some good ales...

Under new management local couple have taken over and this place and the atmosphere has dramatically improved. My favourite country pub I always feel extremely relaxed after visiting this fantastic hidden gem. it's got a fantastic atmosphere, and it's always a pleasure to visit this friendly pub. Comfortable seats, great beer and good food. Staff & customers are very friendly.

Had lunch out 3 large lamb chops mash rosters. Partner had brassing steak plus veg both meals was excerlent good value for the money 2 lots of drinks each £40

Four of us went for a late lunch on a Sunday Nothing has really changed, which is a very good thing, as the pub retains the traditional atmosphere. Similar range of well-kept beers as before the closure and most of the previous staff are back....

Just opened again after being closed for a little while. Just getting up and running but the pint was lovely which is a good start.

Sadly the dog inn is currently closed and there is a lease sign up on the building at present. 9/7/22. We had planned to have lunch today, but went to the gate inn.

I stopped off here for a refreshing pint recently after a walk with some friends. A lovely village setting, reasonably priced drinks and a nice outdoor seating area. Worth a visit if you are in the area and like a more traditional pub atmosphere.

Went for lunch as part of a pre-booked group. My steak-and-onion pie was excellent with good pastry, great meat and good gravy. Nice chips too. Others were pleased with their food. Interior a bit tired ... maybe we should have gone for the nice garden.

We used to love this pub but its choice of real ales is poor so we didn't stay to try their food.

Cute old fashioned pub with delicious home cooked comfort food and hearty portions. A very friendly atmosphere and a great spot for a gentle stroll in the countryside afterwards. I thoroughly recommend this pub and we will be back!

Good oldy worldy pub with a good selection of ales, bird garden outside, open fire but most of all good home made food; Sunday lunch is the best for a 15 mile radius.

Been for Lunch today after previous visit where food was good but service from older lady I assume is landlady was very rude to my children. Decided to give it another chance. Same lady was rude and miserable to both me and my partner. £8.50...
