No food available apart from Sundays despite advertising daily food. This place is a complete dive. Filthy. Toilets disgusting - seats missing from toilets and full of unflushed number twos. Yuk. Customers vaping illegally at the tables immediately in front of the bar and the staff not intervening. On the positive side, the staff were really friendly. Good sports availability but, overall, avoid..

Just called in for lunch on the off chance and they fitted us in. The food was superb and loved the hand cut cooked chips. Great service and very clean.

Popped in for a bite to eat to only discover at 6pm they don't serve food? Even though advertised outside the pub they do. They also appeared on Google as a food establishment. Bit of a waste of time. Atmosphere inside wasn't that of an eating establishment anyway. Football was blasting from the TV. This is more of a pub than somewhere to go to eat unfortunately.

Absolutely fantastic. The pub is under new ownership/management and they have been spot on. The communication has been fabulous and all our needs where met and everyone commented how brilliant everything was and the atmosphere was very relaxed and they basically left us to it which is exactly what we wanted. The food they did for us was amazing and everyone commented how yummy it was. 10 out of 10. Definitely recommend. Danielle

Called via mobile to order a table for following day. Arrived; kitchen closed. Staff suggested Copper Beech & then directed us down Yarm Road towards train station & then back up Neasham as we don't know the area well. My husband is disabled & walks with a stick. Would have been much quicker, we found, to go straight round corner & cut across. Not impressed.

Would of been 5 stars bit the premium beers are a bit expensive

Visited for Sunday Carvery , so Carvery is not what it is because they serve the food on the plate . 2 thin slices of meat ,beef was over cooked and rock hard ,gammon tasted burnt. Sticky doughy Yorkshire pudding , gooey sticky mash, grated cabbage , very thin tasteless gravy. Plus I saw the cooked chicken breasts stood in hot water and removed from the water and sliced and put on the plates...I'm no food expert but leaving cooked meat in hot water does not look healthy to me.we will never return or recommend.

They hosted our meal following the funeral of a family member. All the staff were professional and sensitive to the occasion. They contributed to a relaxed atmosphere and also gave us some privacy by allocating us a spacious area towards the back of the pub.

Lovely friendly pub, we went to the carvery yesterday and everyone loved it. I’m veggie and they made me a gorgeous cheese pie and separate gravy. Great prices too! Lots of dogs roaming around, but luckily I love dogs, so that was a plus for me 😂

Visited on the off chance for a Sunday carvery. Very nice food ,not a lot of choice and extra charge for Cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets not sure why when other carvery's have such things added in with the price ,so we thought this a bit stingy.

Went for a Sunday carvery for 2. They prefer you to book but accommodated us once we asked for a table. There was a bit of a wait to get food ordered but it was certainly worth the wait. The carvery was delicious with a good selection of meats and veggies and at a good price. I was informed that the ladies that have taken over have only been running the kitchen for 3 weeks so I feel this place will only get better and better as time goes on.

visited yesterday with friends, I had tried to contact them via phone and social media, no response to see if they served food. they don't serve food, even though there website says they do. not even a bag of crisps!!!

Notorious Darlington haunt for the "Travellers" community. Full of drunken, loud and often violent louts who also congregate outside yelling abuse at passers by. I dread to think what else takes place here after hours, avoid like the literal plague.

Great it's open again and that incront and out back gardens are available. Maybe some parasols put up though on the tables for more shade. Great service.

Went here for the first time today , food was freshly cooked and high quality and service was excellent. Couldn’t fault anything and would recommend the wheatsheaf for good quality, value for money, home cooked food. The waitress mentioned they’ve extended the eat out discount offers throughout September and I’d recommend going there to help support them.

I havent been to this pub in years and how pleasantly surprised I was.Clean and tidy inside. The lady who served us had a lovely friendly manner. We all ate and took advantage of the EOTHO. Food was great and meal cost a mere £3.50 after discount. Outstanding value at full price, complete steal this week.Thanks to the team and the chefs, ill certainly be returning!

Hade a lovely time at the Wheatsheaf last night with friends and family. Was met by the owner Paul on entering and given a lovely welcome. Staff were very friendly and offered a fast and efficient service through out the night. Food was amazing - I tried the hand made venison and black pudding pie, was the best I had had in ages! Much better than the typical packaged stuff served in a lot of pubs nowadays. Puddings (Lemon merangue) was excellent as well. A perfect night out, I shall be coming back again. :)

First time I've been there in about 17 years, well staffed, no guest ale's or hand pulled beers. There is food available but I've never eaten a meal at the establishment so I can not comment. There is disabled toilet facilities and easy access in and out of the building.

Poor place to watch football as nothing major is televised best off heading to black swan or town

Don't visit here as often as i should with it being my local but always warm and welcoming. Food and drinks always good value and qaulity. Definitely recommend trying!

Went for Sunday carvery we hed to scrape the bottom for mashed pots and veg that was there the chef was NO help at all I asked him what veg at the top was it cabbage he said but it not ready the cauliflower in small bits no turnip the carrots was hard all was cold ( I'll give the meet a 2 star )

Went to sit in the beer garden today and was very pleasantly surprised, the staff were absolutely lovely and couldn't do enough for us, very chatty and friendly. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We were too hot sat outside and were given an umbrella without even having to ask. Top notch customer service, will definitely be back.

Had another great night at dj/northern soul last night! I realised when home had lost two charms from my bracelet, which have sentimental value. I rang pub this morning not expecting them to be there sadly. However i was over the moon that they were there! What honest proprieter’s and staff members. They are very friendly too! Met my old mate from primary he was in the same year as me, after 1 visit to the Wheaty he seems 5 year older than me the pints are offit and thaaaaa

What a total disgrace the food and service was , weve been there a number of times prior today for the carvery and the food was spot on ,when the other chef was there with mousey coloured hair unfortunately we don't know his name today we got there at 12 20 and no veg left bearing in mind we were told they start serving at 12 had to wait Inthe mean time the meat and pud was getting cold. The qeue was getting bigger all wiating for veg ,had to have Sunday lunch with no mash as it took that long the veg we did get after a Good 10min wiating was under cooked and hard and it was (I'm a chef and have been for 37yrs )so I know in my personal opinion if this is the best they can do on the easiest meal of the day then my best advice would be to close the kitchen indefenately and the person responsible for the kitchen should be sacked that was one of the worst ever experiences I've had and it cost us £32 sadly we won't be back

Nice food, chicken korma and chips with skins on. Real tender chicken pieces. Nicely cooked. Friendly staff. Nice decor too.

A warm and friendly atmosphere, staff are very friendly they will always acknowledge you, while you wait, by a simple be with you in a minute. New menu is really good, affordable, simple, and not to many choices to get overwhelmed by.

Visited early in the new year with friends after hearing a few work colleagues mention they'd enjoyed the food on a recent visit. Really glad I followed their advice as i thoroughly enjoyed my meal! We visited on a Tuesday which meant we could take advantage of the Burger night offer. I believe it was a Burger and a pint for £9. A homemade cheese burger and a pint of Fosters is always a good combo! Had a check on their facebook and they have a different food offer on pretty much every day of the week. Can't wait to get back and try something different. Well done guys!

The tables had not been cleaned properly. The buffet was less than adequate with no butter on the bread for the sandwiches. The tea and coffee were served in cups but no saucers

Shocking!! Had a 18th bday party on satda got some cakes for it n left them in the kitchen till we were ready for them, went to get them n the kitchen staff had ate em with out askin who or where they came from and to top it all off some of the locals started on some of the group from the party threatenin women n young girls. Wont be recommendin or goin there again. Shocking just shockin.

A proper Sunday lunch with homemade yorkshires, tasty choice of meats and veg and proper gravy. It's not worth making it at home as the price for the portion size / quality is great !

The food has definitely improved here tasty and filling will done here again staff are also friendly. My only criticism would be that they have club music on in the background of the pub. Something you'd expect in an early 00s nightclub not in a pub whilst your eating your dinner. But apart from that great place wether with friends or family cheap and delicious.

Being in Darlington on business and wanting to watch the CL football this was the closest place to my hotel so I walked down here for a few pints and a meal.I decided to have a steak dinner and duly ordered over the bar. Sat down and waited, and waited. After about 25 minutes I needed another pint and had to stick my head around the corner to get the attention of the young lady serving. She stood talking to what I later learned was the cook. I got my pint and I waited another 5 minutes when I managed to get her attention, asking where my food was. She said she was going to check, but it took another 5 minutes before she came up to me and told me that the delay was because they were out of the sauce I've ordered? My suspicion is that the delay was because the cook was standing by the bar with a pint, and not doing his job.After another 15 minutes my food arrived, the tomatoes was black after being fried in a pan and not grilled or roasted. The replacement sauce was straight out of a packet, looking as plastic as the packet itself, and my steak was stone cold!!!!!!! I didn't continue eating after the first bite, brought this to the bar maids attention straight away. I told her that I wasn't going to eat it so that she could put her finger on the steak and feel for her self. I told her that I wanted a refund. And she brought the food back to the kitchen. I walked up to the till and waited for her. She came out of the kitchen and mumbled something about having probed the steaks, and following just behind her was the chef who started arguing with me. I told him I wasn't interested in an argument, just a refund. So he walked off still mumbling with his pint. (How professional)Stay clear of this place if you're looking for customer service and decent food. The pint was good and the glass was clean, but that was about it.

food was nice although a 2 minute wait for Yorkshires that still weren't ready when we left. enjoyed half our lunch when manage lost his temper about meat running out. it is understandable but repeatedly berating staff loudly and aggressively put use at such unease that when he added slamming ovens and throwing pans down we left the rest of our lunch and our untouched drinks. for those who had got a dinner the atmosphere was unbearable near the carvery. the staff remained calm somehow and continued to be friendly to guests. totally shocking behaviour from management who should know how where and when to deal with things. I had indigestion all afternoon. waste of my money.

This has had a revamp and has improved 100%. The open kitchen allows you to see the food being prepared, the new Managers are really helpful and friendly, they are not new to the pub/restaurant only this role. The food is to die for from the 2 for £12 specials to the amazing Sunday carvery which I always end up bringing home and it's even nicer 2nd time round.
