Didn't get food but friendly and welcoming

Arranged to have Sunday lunch here on mother's day. We were not disappointed, lunch was beautiful, fresh vegetables, crispy homemade Yorkshire and a choice of meats. Sauces were also supplied. The portions were large and the grandkids were given a portion of cake. Compliments of the house. Such good value for money.Thankyou, we highly recommend

Staff very friendly and helpful. Chicken Parmasan was really fresh and tasty. My daughter enjoyed her pizza and chips. Chips where nice but homemade chips would have been a great.

This is your local drinking pub really. Has disco and karaoke at weekend. Some like, some don't. You need to go and check it out for yourself. All drinks for drinking and all space for your movements are there. Give it a go

I understand football especially match result days will mean most to the world but we've walked the town and no NO MUSIC at all was played in the several pubs we went to ! Now how I understand this is of importance to many to us as wife mother we just want to dance sing get merry and Live life !! From a very desparate mother of 3 please regardless to football been played on your screens to think about us ladies who need more to Han football many thanks moi xxx

Top pub and good for the Football

Brilliant night out . DJ on the weekend is fantastic with big green hair and beard!! Lovely well kept pub with staff always serving you with a smile 😃. Definitely go there and try it out you will enjoy it . Prices are where they should be aswell , most places these days charge through nose + when your on your way back home there's plenty food places round the corner if you haven't already ate at the Green Dragon . To the Scotsman with that huge green hair thanks for a great weekend your music is epic !!!

Central location nice comfortable bar. Met by a cute little waitress who took our orders and made sure we wanted for nothing... was helping out as the tips were going towards buying a hamster 😊 choice of chicken, beef or pork dinner with all the trimmings. Partner had large chicken and I went for the standard beef. Served lovely and hot and was delicious well done to the cooks they did a good job.

L&J Opened this restaurant recently within The Green Dragon Pub. They cater for families and all so ideal if you want a drink or watch a sports channel. It is pretty popular due to the Food that is served and the friendly staff. Highly recommended, they also can cater for take a way meals if required.

Kicked us out at 10.45 on a Saturday night

This pub has changed hands many times recently but the current occupants are to be applauded for making a real effort to attract business in a very overfished pool. ~Things they get right (i) Excellent pint of John Smiths (ii) Cheapest beer in town- £1-60 is amazing. (iii) They seem to have cleared out the undesirables - Things that need improving upon (i) Keep on top of the little things- wipe the tables, collect the emptys, replace the bulb in the smoking area (which was in darkness when we visited) tidy the gents up, mop the floor there more regularly, paint the replacement plaster that looks like a map of Africa (ii) Improve your front of house and stop looking so glum! You are a business and people bank on people, eg when customers arrive, smile and welcome them. If you cannot serve them straight away then say you will be with them in a minute.DOnt ignore customers and try and keep off the iphone a bit. I really wish you well. I am a regular customer now and will write a review in a few months to see if these things have been attended to. I would so like to givde you a high 5!

Popped in on Saturday,several screens with live football on,very clean and modern bar.the beer was very good and one of the cheapest in Darlington,never tried the food but I'm told it is very good.

The lager tasted awful .I haven't been anymore

I work with a adult with learning difficulties and we went into the green dragon for Sunday lunch we were told that they had no veg ready and it would be a 20 minute wait which was ok When the chicken dinner came out it had a Yorkshire pudding on chicken goujons gravy and the veg was 3 pieces of cauliflower 1 small piece of broccoli frozen mash and a half of a boiled potato which they tried to roast it but just burned it The landlord and a customer were standing in the doorway smoking and with the wind was blowing back in It was the worst Sunday lunch I have ever had and definitely will not be going back

This place has always been a great place to stop for a drink and/or a bite to eat. Located in a historic town centre street, its a Brill place to stop when shopping or on a pub crawl. The pub is in great condition, and since Simon took over as manager it has always maintained a high level of cleanliness. And most importantly, It has nice cheap fruity cider on tap!

A new excellent caterer who is very keen to ensure the customers leave well satisfied plus the prices are very good the meals are first class home cooked and service is first class! Highly recommended

Just called in for a quick pint to check it out now it's under new management. What a lovely pint of fosters it was too, and at £2.20 a pint you can't go wrong and the staff were really friendly too. Will definitely be back!

Good food friendly and very cheap

Food was terrible, it took an hour and a half to come and there was food missing off almost every meal. Passing the kitchen door you could see that it was messy and disorganised. Would never go again.

Just popped in for a coffee as a break from Xmas shopping! Hadn't been before but was really impressed. Lovely comfortable friendly pub. Didn't sample the food but it looked great. Will definitely be back for a meal soon!

My first impression of this place wasn't all that positive. It's a bit basic and at shortly before noon had several, slightly shady looking characters in supping pints. It's certainly more of a boozer than pub and it felt slightly off in the atmosphere. The food though is a different matter, it's typical pub grub but for value and size can't be faulted, most of the mains are 4.95 or two for 8.00 which is probably the best value in town, it was hot, prompt service and ok quality. I certainally wouldn't bring a child here and I didn't notice any dietary needs catered for. Overall there are better options in town and I wouldn't rush back here but the food at least was ok.

Excellent home cooked lunch, very reasonable priced, lovely cooked and plenty of it, go early to avoid disappointment . One to try.

One member of bar staff on their own struggling to keep up with serving, glass collecting & washing. Poorly maintained lines resulting in both premium lagers being substandard (Estrella undrinkable, Birra Moretti not much better).

Good value meals excellent Sunday lunch

Went to the Green Dragon for lunch in the week between Christmas and New Year. The menu board outside the pub displayed an all-day breakfast and other food treats, so we decided to pop in for lunch. We bought a couple of drinks (no real ale, Sam Smith's the best that they had) and then asked to order to food, only to be told (at 1.00pm) that there was no food available as the chef had to be somewhere. Disappointing, and probably the only negative pub experience we had during a great 1-month holiday in the UK.

The best Sunday Lunch in Darlo! Fantastic service. Tasty home cooked food. 2 for £10 so you can't go wrong.

Go here a lot with my partner for lunch and take my parents and the food is excellent value !! always hot and the beef is so tender,all fresh food.can,t praise it enough.

whot a bargain sunday lunch roast beef yorkshire pudding and veg first class have been twice and both times very good also had pudding very good highly recommend for sunday lunch .

Today is probably the third or fourth time I have been to the Green Dragon for food. The portions are plentiful and absolutely delicious. Completely homemade dishes. Today I just went for a simple chicken, bacon and cheese panini; it was jam packed with filling and came accompanied by real home cooked chips! We will definitely return!

Decent pub for a cheap pint of beer

Friendly staff & pleasant atmosphere with good range of meals & desserts on the menu. I had sunday roast pork, full veg, mash potato, yorks puds & gravy all for bargain £4. Would definitely visit again to try other meals.

Love going to this pub for our lunch on a saturday when we are in Darlington. The meals are well worth the money. Always tasty and very well presented x

My husband loves the fish, chips, peas and bread and butter, while I appreciate the slimming world based meals that Jeanette is only too happy to oblige if asked. I shouldn't be recommending this establishment in case it gets too busy as a result, but Jeannette assured me that I only have to phone and book a table to ensure that I am not disappointed.

Great Sunday lunch home cooked great price great portions a must try drinks a good price service quick

Popped in for lunch whilst shopping in the sales yesterday. 2 meals for £8 what a bargain. We had fish and chips and steak pie. All tasted home cooked except for the peas (obviously). Table did feel a bit sticky and toilets were clean but in need of refurbishment. Would definitely pop in again.
