We visited for a Sunday lunch, travelling several miles from Grimsby. We have been before, and it was excellent. We chose a carvery although there was a full menu to choose from. The carvery was is really tasty and plentiful. My wife also chose a yummy white chocolate dessert to follow. The service was first class and very welcoming.the young staff were really chatty and polite. Although you can call in and take you're chance it's best to book. Ample car parking and easy to access.

Carvery. Meat good. Limited range of veg. Good value. Pleasant surroundings. Person with battered haddock. Fresh and large for price.

Since the change of management the Sunday carvery was very disappointing. The food was just warm, mash potatoes were dry, Yorkshire puddings were soggy and warmish. Meat was very nice but limited on portion size. Service was ok. However the position of the carvery service was terrible as it is in the way of staff trying to clear tables and enter the kitchen. Wouldn't rush back which is a shame as the pub is lovely!

Haven’t been here for a few years, as we had had a couple of bad meals, so stopping visiting. Noted the change of management etc, so thought would give it another try. Booked a table for 630 on a Saturday night, and the place wasn’t busy. Starters and mains came up quickly and were all hot, plentiful and tasty. Only quibble is the menu says chips, not the huge ‘wedges’ that were served. Appreciate these are probably made on-site, but would never describe them as chips. Fish was succulent and fellow diners said their gammons were very tasty. However when it came to desserts, this is when it all went wrong and it became a comedy of errors. Took our order, 1 treacle sponge and 2 roulades (1 with cream, 1 with ice-cream) and 1 latte coffee. Returned couple of minutes later to advise they had run out of treacle sponge. Offered the opportunity to order an alternative, but there wasn’t anything else fancied so we cancelled that dessert. Returned again 5 mins later to advise the coffee machine could not make lattes, so did we want to change the order – this was changed to a cappuccino. Returned again 5 mins later to advise the machine couldn’t make cappuccino but they could make a de-caf in the kitchen. This was declined and no replacement ordered. Returned yet again 5 mins later to advise they had no vanilla ice-cream, so did we want cream on that roulade – we agreed. After an additional 15 mins of waiting, we chased up on our desserts, and were advised they wouldn’t be long, and apologies were offered with the reason the kitchen was very busy. We looked around the restaurant – it wasn’t even half full, with only 4 tables appearing to be occupied (which included us). After another 5 mins we asked if the desserts had even been started, because if not, we were cancelling. They hadn’t, so we cancelled the order and asked for the bill. This then had to be returned as we were still being charged for all three desserts and the coffee. So after a promising start, we were left frustrated with the chaos over coffee and desserts. It is such a shame, but we have agreed it would take a lot to tempt us back again.

Very pleasant updated place, we went for 6.30pm meal and chose the £7.95 carvery. Very disappointing to be honest! There were 2 meat choices, but we were challenged when we asked for a slice of each, the chef said he wasn't supposed to offer this??? Unbelievable!!! What difference does it make to their profits? Never come across this before...ever! And to make it worse, the teeny weeny (3"×3")slice of beef was impossibly tough. The accompaniments were very sad and tired, yorkshire puddings were like soggy cardboard and had to be torn apart as the knife couldn't handle it, I had to spit the roast potatoes out in the end because no amount of chewing was working. The veggies were barely cooked and much too crisp for my liking and the gravy, although quite tasty, was so runny, it puddled at the bottom of our plates! The chef admitted that all the lids were keeping the food from view because "it had been a bit of a day" presumably meaning he was trying to keep it warm! (Exactly for just how long, he didn't say) I had to leave most of my meal, and didn't feel at all satisfied! I went for the chocolate peanut butter stack for dessert which was actually very good! If we went back at all, it would be to order from the menu, and definitely avoid the carvery!

What can I say, amazing, fantastic bar staff, very friendly and helpful, took a table and ordered our food.We were informed that there would be a bit of a wait, because a big table had just ordered before us, no problem, we were told. Not to long later the food arrived, and we were not disappointed, my partner had lasagne (home made) with chips, and I had the 16oz rib eye steak. Omg by, both meals were outstanding.!! The steak just fell apart, the chips were so crisp and fluffy, the lasagne was amazing aswell. Will definitely be eating there again, compliments to the chef and his kitchen assistants.

We had the privilege of being the first people to have the Sunday carvery since the pub recently changed hands (for the better, I must add!).There are three options of plate size at different prices. Small, regular and large.Three choices of meat which on the first day was beef, pork and turkey. I had beef and pork and my son had beef and turkey. All were juicy and tender.Vegetable choice was extensive. Roast and mashed potatoes, peas, carrots, cabbage and cauliflower cheese. The latter was delicious. Gravy, mustard and apple sauce were available too.The only suggestion I would make is that another Bain Marie be acquired and the vegetables kept separately to the meat service. When really busy, there will be delay while diners get their vegetables from in front of the meat server.Overall, excellent start. Well done Dave and Maggie. We will be back soon.

Luego un plan más abierto el comedor más grande y zona de estar con un cómodo sofá junto a la chimenea (un lugar de bienvenida después de nuestras 3 hr bimble en el campo de los alrededores). I am so lucky to live local to this wonderful tea shop. The BLT sandwich is to die for. Lovely, fresh homemade coleslaw and salad to go with a very generous, well presented sandwich, and of course crisps. I can only rave about every aspect of the place. Staff are welcoming, food is delish, atmosphere inviting, well-priced. The only thing is, it is so popular that you can't always get in. Luckily for me, they have sustainable packaging for takeaways. Do book if you want to sit-in though. Oh, the coffee is also fabulous.
