We visit The Wharf fairly regularly but our last visit was sadly under par. Food was only just warm, Yorkshires cold and over cooked. Service was dreadful - had to go to bar to ask staff to clear table, order desserts & coffee because they’d forgotten to come back to take order. Coffee served in cup (no saucers) and asked for sugar which never arrived. Unlikely to visit again; shame because it was one of our favourites for Sunday lunch

A popular pub with a pleasant view of the canal, and there is plenty of seating available. The staff seem nice. The building itself looks a little tired, especially in the toilets, but it's clean; however, there is often litter in the garden that seems to go unnoticed. Drinks are extremely expensive — I paid nearly £9 for 1 pint of larger and a small bottle of sparkling water (and that was during happy hour)! Overall, it's a nice enough place to chill out with a drink on a pleasant day if you are feeling frivolous with your cash.

We enjoyed having a round table as a group of friends, and thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed meal, although decor inside was a bit dark and dated. Too hot that evening to sit outside but the canal side setting is attractive. The service was acceptable, we didn't have to wait very long for the food and they were helpful. It was a shame they didn't have more GF and DF options. we were a little disappointed that one of our guests couldn't get a salad without raw onion (and all salad options were the same 'salad' bits), and actually, the salad part was a little unimaginative, having only 3 events to it including the onion! However, the Rump Steak salad was cooked exactly to liking with just the right amount of Stilton with the salad. Would have welcomed more of the crispy onions which were hard to find (it was listed on the menu as 'with stilton and crispy onions'). The ice cream dessert was elevated by the addition of chocolate sauce and honeycomb.

We recently had a wonderful meal at The Wharf, and I must say it was a fantastic experience! We tried both the wharf classic burger and the linguini, and they were absolutely delicious. The quality of the food was top-notch, and the portions were just right. The staff was friendly and attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. If you're in the area, this place is worth a visit. We’ll be coming back for sure!

Stopped here for the night to have drinks but never again. It’s a lovely place so hard to understand why you allow the behaviour of the locals to continue. 16-19 year olds shouting swearing vaping constantly, not one of them bought a drink or spent a penny. More locals pulling up and coming in, with cans of beer, no one said anything. People sat outside the door with cans and bottles they have brought with them. Didn’t spend a penny, again no one said anything. Wild dogs running around the pub while the owners of it could barely stand up they was so drunk, why keep serving them? Again more shouting and swearing. It was constant!

We have visited twice , once on way south on our canal boat and then on the way back. I , being snobby , have an aversion to place out like this but how wrong was I with The Wharf. First off the service at the bar was excellent end of. The prices were good too . We then ordered a platter to share for the three of us , from blue cheese to humus and soft brea etc . We were were amazed how well presented it was when it arrived and the taste was just absolutely lovely, lije you’ ve always wanted from a pub. The lay out of the place really works as well with plenty of room. There s a really nice space by the pool table . We could enjoy our lunch and have a pot to when we wanted . All very relaxed . Five stars from us . 👍👍👍👍👍

Awful experience. The food was cold. My husband sent his back as it was so cold. When replaced he could only eat a little of it as the burger was all connective tissue and gristle. YUCK! I had the pasta with asparagus and capers. I had so many capers it was obscene! Capers are supposed to be a seasoning not a vegetable! We would never ever go back!

Our recent dining experience was disappointing. The starters were significantly delayed considering that they were not busy and they were served cold. The fish and chips contained hard chips, and the burger meals were inconveniently put into a basket with no room to eat it. The katsu curry had an odd taste. Moreover, the toilet facilities were unsatisfactory, lacking toilet paper and with water spilled across the floor. Spending £107 on this disappointing meal was definitely not worth it. As well as this, the tables around us sent back food due to it being cold or completely the wrong meal.

Well. I'm getting to know canal restaurants well. The walf. The excuse that a releaf chef was in for the day off. Onion in batter good. Ordered the tortilla chips jalapeño salsa guacamole and sour cream. And onion rings. Tortillas turned up with jalapeños and cheese. None of the rest. It was some 5mibs before after, asking for the acomplments for to turn up. By now the food is cold Guacamole was mayonnaise based, tasteless with a white colour to it, a hard piece of avilocard in covered in mayonnaise. The salsa, tomato base with a salsa flavour more tomato like sauce.. Another experience of pants food.

We went to the Wharf yesterday with our daughter for something to eat at around 7pm. After ordering food from the friendly and welcoming staff and sitting at one of the designated food tables we were then treated to the vile and intimidating behaviour of the regulars. Loud shouted discussions on subjects such as Paedophilia, and Mutual Masturbation, obviously using less technical descriptions with every other word beginning with F. One highlight was one of the group shouting Bye you old C.... to an older gentleman leaving the bar area. I realise this is not the fault of the establishment but shows the challenge these pubs have. How much money do they lose from these experiences and word of mouth. I would strongly advise anyone with kids to avoid this pub.

The allergen menu is 5 years out of date, and staff struggled to explain what was gluten free (starter only the hallumi, mains steak or gammon - or, possibly fish - no, I was not told what kind of fish it was). I strongly suggest this place is avoided if you have a picky eater or vegetarian who is gluten free in your party, or if you have a serious allergy as I would not trust the server to reliably ask and tell you if something was safe for you or not.

The whole experience of eating at the Wharf pub in Bugbrooke was awful. We were a party of 4 adults and a baby in a high chair, the service was ok and we didn’t wait too long for the food but when the chicken burger came out it taste really strange. My daughter in law left hers but I sent mine back. Another came and it was just the same so I left it. As we were eating a cat came into the restaurant and was walking on all the set tables then came over to us and was trying to get up the high chair it was awful! Whoever ate off those tables I feel sorry for. A young waitress came and carried the cat away. We weren’t taken seriously with our complaint and the bill was £98 A complete waste of money and dreadful experience Will never set foot in there again.

Great pub, always down there with my mates or family, love the staff so much as they are very polite and welcoming, yes people use some strong language but its a village pub what do you actually expect it to be like and to make it clear they do not go around screaming these words around, you would only here the occasional “strong language” rarely. Also since the new Chef the food has been brilliant so ignore all the bad reviews about the food. They are dog friendly, lots of places for the dog to run around in the garden, theres some carpet inside but thats about it. Lots of seating areas inside: the bar, the restaurant, around the pub, and outside: sheltered, or on the grass. People will obviously be going on and off their boat if they have one and yes other people will as well if its their boat or not. They have a pool table and two fruit machines all on on side of the pub and then on the other side you have a restaurant. They have Ladies, Mens and Disabled toilets. Loads of different variety of drinks and just overall a great pub. If u still have a problem with anything I’ve just listed the bakers is just a street and a half away 🥱xxx

This pub restaurant has a Beautiful garden and a lovely setting, I found the staff very helpful.. Our food was served hot but came out quicker than expected as i was going to have another drink, the waitress very kindly offered to bring my drink out to the garden where we were sitting, really appreciated her kindness.. so at least I could get on with eating my meal while it was hot.. and didn't have to go to the bar.. THUMBS UP THERE!!! PERFECT!!! I had ordered the chicken goujons and my sister had the scampi we were so SHOCKED the meals came out like a dogs dinner ....??? the meals were plastered with sauce which i thought would of came in a seperate bowl.. The chip/fries tasted like they had been deep fried 4/5 times... the breaded scampi wasn't that bad ... but the so called chicken Goujons were absolutely awful I don't know what they were? but they sure as hell weren't chicken goujons????? I really do think whoever is in charge of this BEAUTIFUL PLACE needs to have a RETHINK on finding a chef that cares and who wants to be more creative as the menu is really limited.... please don't take this review as negative!!!!! because when you drive into the car park you can see how much hard work goes into this place as they make it look Amazing... I have taken my time to write this review and would really appreciate some sort of feedback from The Wharf.. What the hell has gone wrong? The food here use to be fantastic..... OK! So! Mixed feelings about this place. Four of us visited for a pre booked 1230 table. We actually arrived about 1215 and were happy to have a drink at the bar but were told we could go straight to our table by a very friendly member of staff. Being a weekday it was quiet and there were a couple of other people in the beer garden but we didn't see anyone else inside. Drinks and meals were ordered about 1225. A few minutes later we were told that they were out of the local Brixworth Pate, my visiting brother in law had ordered on our recommendation. A little annoying as they should have known it was off the menu and told him when he ordered it. Additionally, given that we were probably the first people to order that day they clearly have some issues with maintaining supplies. Overall the food was filling, fairly tasty, no better than average and we all felt a little over priced for what we had, however we didn't leave hungry. Probably the most negative thing about it was that given it was so quiet, we didn't actually get our starters until 1255, which we felt was rather a long wait. I'd be concerned about going there when it was busy. Perhaps, given the location they are trying to maintain the slow sedate canal vibe. I would't go so far as to say this was a bad dining experience but I certainly wouldn't eat there again or recommend it.

#Buddyfriendlypubs #Roobysvillagetour Ok so. As much as I dislike to give a bad review, as the staff were really friendly and welcoming on arrival. Inside the pub was nice, very “pubby” lol this place is dog friendly, everywhere except for where there is carpet(the restaurant) The outside seating is very good. And it’s a great place to sit beside the canal in the summer. We ordered the Caesar salad and from the chalkboard cheese and ham, Panini. After a while we got told that there wasn’t any ham. So they subbed it for chicken for me. When it arrived, it didn’t look like a Panini it look like a toasted ciabatta… The Caesar salad was pretty disappointing, alone it was £9.99 and to add chicken was an extra £3.99 which seemed really expensive if you just had to pay £9.99 for some salad and some cheese and some dressing? Unfortunately the salad leaves that were served where ready for the bin . When a staff member asked how is your food? We did complain about the quality of the lettuce leaves. She said sorry, when I went up to order two more drinks the staff member took a couple of pound off as compensation - which was better than nothing, but I did expect a little bit more compo…I can see why the place was really quiet which is such a shame. Definitely not a rovers return.

We were told on arrival that there was only a cut down menu due to being short staffed.. basically consisted fish n chips, burgers, and loaded fries, along with starters... Would have liked a bigger choice, however the food was great and filled a gap! Quite a big gap, as large portions!... Superb pub, fantastic atmosphere, a warm welcome and amazing staff. This place is always consistently excellent and my friends and I love to have our get togethers here. We know the food will be good and the beer and wine is delicious.
